Great game and classic, unfortunately horrible port

This game said: “balance in the force?” -> "nah." You’re not a Jedi. You’re not a Sith. You’re a walking natural disaster with a lightsaber. And nothing survives that. Legendary Star Wars Og ♥♥♥♥.

Some of you are too young to understand the cultural impact here as this game lit the world on fire back in 2008 and reignited hype for star wars again. During this time all the prequal movies were out for a few years and then nothing after that. Then here comes TFU that was a gritty, dark, mature and morally grey direction for star wars that has never been done before outside of books. It made stars exciting again, …

This one is, and I'm saying it in a positive way, a typical old-school game that has its own charm and aged well. I liked the lightsaber battles, and using the Force to crush through my enemies, it was great fun. Havok engine did its job well, and the ragdoll physics were hilarious as I picked up the little Jawas and threw them 50 meters away. :) As I mentioned before, the game's structure is pretty simple: follow …

I Unleashed my Force all over the place because of this game... All jokes aside, this game bangs so hard. It tells a neat little story set between SW: Episode 3 & 4, and get's the power trip fantasy going with it's combat and force abilities. Not an overly long game, but that's okay, it tells the story it wants to tell and makes it fun as hell the whole time it does so. Worth a recommendation if you love Star Wars. …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game. use patch https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/506-star-wars-the-force-unleashed-12-fps-cap-fix-60-fps-unlock/ to have 2k and 60 fps or more settings.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know why this game gets negative reviews saying it's a bad port, then unironically quote things like the Wii version. It's a great game and a great port, there are multiple versions of this game because of what consoles could handle. One of the best games I've ever played.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have a lot of nostalgia for this game, but playing this version didn't feel like the game I remember. Could be nostalgia glasses, but I think it's the port. I played on Wii back in the day, and people seem to think it was a better version. Biggest thing that makes me think it's a port is the lockdowns. Any enemy attack that hits you locks you down and lets the attacks pile up. Even that might be fine in a souls-like way, but blocking is also pretty bad. It's slow to trigger and so unreliable…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →even with all the fixes you can do with this port, it's just unplayable. You're better off getting an actual copy or emulating it. Don't waste your money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the game, but the dialogues during gameplay just don't play. I can see the subtitles, but no sound, straight up from the first main level, the TIE fighter factory. I've spent an entire day trying to find a solution - messing around with sound settings on my system, downloading various community fixes, but nothing works. I really wanted to enjoy replaying this game, but the lack of voiced dialogue and an entire day wasted on nothing depraved me of that. I think you shouldn't sell…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The 60fps patch + the crash fix using HxD and the game runs perfectly
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this port is ♥♥♥♥ every dev that ever thinks removing simulataneous gamepad/kbm support is a good idea should be tried at the hague i love when games without hotplugging make me restart the entire game because my controller wire fell out for a second
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game but the pc port sucks ass. Lots of bugs, audio stops working half of the time, limited at 30fps and 1080p. Recommended only if its on sale and if you are a nostalgic star wars fan.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a great StarWars game this is, it puts newer games to shame. This is the best action/adventure StarWars game. I played on steamdeck with the FPS and audio fix mod, didn't had any major issues with the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is impossible to pull down the star destroyer, and those tie fighters are indestructible, a well as coming back to fast. there is no end to the agony.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Want to be Darth Vaders secret apprentice, fall in love with the only female coworker you've ever had, and constantly get attacked by your only friend which just happens to be a violent robot composed of archives of almost every dangerous Jedi and Sith and ChatGPT? Then this is the game for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+1 THE BEST Star Wars game there ever was, RIP LUCAS ARTS you will forever be missed
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so peak, I deadass unleashed something massive while playing this masterpiece
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is classic the only problem no trophy's but it's classic Star Wars that we need in these Dark Times Know As Disney Wars. Anyways great game recommend again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The star destroyer segment is the worst thing I have ever experienced in gaming.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Does not hold up, controls are too stiff and the wake-up animations after getting knocked down are crazy long. You play as a guy who can pull down a whole star destroyer but also gets mogged by 2-3 storm troopers. The game also crashes a lot too. Finished my playthrough vicariously through YouTube.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Originally played on the PS3. Alot of fun. Alot of unlocks without MTX. Highly recommended. They don't make games like these anymore.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Damn game keeps crashing, I tried the Tatooine DLC and I can't go through the corridor with the traps without the game crashing constantly. It's a shame, because this is a genuinely good game but the constantly crashing every few minutes makes me not recommend this Update: i reinstalled the game now it won't open
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's pretty broken on PC, requiring multiple community patches just to function. And frankly, even when you get it running semi-decently... It's just not as good as you remember it being, hold on to your nostalgia, the memory of it is better than the game itself ;n;
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i have audio skipping issues during cutscenes. i have tried relentlessly for hours trying to fix the issue. other than that the game runs fine but i would LOVE some a solution for the audio cutting/skipping in the cutscenes. it ruines the experience. if i somehow get this resolved i will change my review.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its alright. it shows its age in every aspect for sure. The story is ok, it has some great moments, but overall it was not very captivating. The gameplay is just ok, and overall id just say this game is ok. This is a pretty poor PC port, but like i said, ultimately at the end of the day the only descriptor i can apply to this game is that it is just alright
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ez completion hurts my eyes being locked st 30fps would rather take a dump in my hands and clap but yeah good game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing storyline and gameplay. just got it for steam but i beat the play through years back on PS4. will always say TFU and TFU2 are amazing games!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the greatest Star Wars game ever made for PSP. It’s a true childhood classic for me. The graphics felt unbelievably real and crisp back in 2010 lol.

neutral · AI labelView post →The star destroyer part was so cool as a kid, as someone who has grown it is honestly one of the worst experiences I have dealt with in gaming in a while, the poor controls with the force grip and never ending tie fighters coming out every five seconds is just adding artificial length and difficulty, instead of suspense and excitement over bringing down said star destroyer Still cool tho
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An amazing game, its basically the God of War of Star Wars. The combat is amazing, there are many different combos to do in this game, the force abilities are also very cool. The bosses in this game are good (Except Kazdan Paratus). Only downside in my experience is getting a few freezes and crashes, but overall the game is a blast to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't have this game as a kid, and I just did my first playthrough EVER I recently bought a steam deck to play many games that I didn't have a chance to play when I were younger and oh boy, I love love love this game. Everyone already knows this game so I won't go into details but damn..n games were made with love back then.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite the FPS fluctuations and jank, this old unc game holds up really well. EA, if you're not retarded, make a remaster of this
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game, absolute force power fantasy. The port however, it licks balls like a mf. You need to download two things: 60 fps fix, missing sound files for two levels. 60 fps may break physics a bit but i didn't encounter any major gamebreaking issues other than force grip levetates objects faster than intented. Also, the game likes to crash every now and then but the checkpoints are set up well so its almost a non issue.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd rather prefer munching on glass than trying to get this mess working. Its a shame because I was really excited to play this game and get on the starkiller hype. But during the 10 odd minutes of my 'play time', I've had to fix issues for 30 minutes. To start off, the game simply refused to start. Now once that was fixed through the steam community suggestions, I was able to get into the game and experience the first level where you play as Vader followed by the first training mission. I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game for its time, Ima be playing in 2026 with 30 fps and admire my sith power, especially DLCs against Luke and Obi-Wan Kenobi, decent physic, a LOT of cool attack combinations, main story has 2 ending which I found only after wondering how my fella turned into Starkiller (I had good ending). Out of all the game itself is very satisfying, until it drops you a hundred-trillion enemies who's gonna be spamming you with projectiles all around the battlefield (so I recommend to play on lowest…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game runs absolutely horrid on PC. Controller support is dang near completely broken. Also frequent crashes as well as a number of visual and audio bugs. I know this is a game for 2009 and it will never ever be fixed but its really sad to see such a classic star wars game like this be this unplayable in the modern day. Its definitely a pipedream but it would be absolutely kick ass if they ever chose to remaster this game on PC as well as the sequel. There are apparently a number mods to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the game but not the PC version. keeps all the bugs from console with way more of its own. Constant crashes along with consistent audio issues. Wouldn't recommend unless this is your only way of experience what is otherwise a good game. (GET IT ON XBOX/PS IF YOU CAN)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Never played this as a kid, but I'm loving it now. You should play with a controller though, there is a level that's almost impossible without one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite its jankiness and bugs and glitches that can be sometimes frustrating, this game is my favourite Star Wars game of all time. The story of Vader's apprentice marking the start of the Rebel Alliance is good, the voice acting is well done, the original music is great, music from the movies are added in the appropriate places, the hack and slash gameplay is decent and the force powers, oh boy the force powers. Pushing enemies off cliffs, gripping them and sending them flying to their…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was better than i remember it being - It's not perfect by any means, but with the additional content in the "Sith Addition" it's a fun way to waste a few hours. I would love to see Disney try to incorporate aspects of Starkillers journey into their cannon.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Story is nice and gameplay mostly. There is moments when gameplay is trash and especially the moment you need to pull down Stardestroyer it is almost impossible with keyboard and mouse. So you need controller for that one atleast. If you are interested in story only then just watch videos from Youtube but if you want to play then make sure you got controller so you can switch/play with it when necessary.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really wish this games were continued or even changed to be more suiting to the lore. always one of my favourite games as a kid and had such a great story. hope they bring it back one day

neutral · AI labelView post →works out of the box on the steam deck, I don't know why it's got marked as unverified. you only have to use the touchscreen once at the start of the game tho. The game is also very good. classic ps2 game. it can be a bit difficult, as enemys tend to stunlock you, but besides that, its a very solid star wars game with a not so complex story
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is one the final few games from before Disney stole the franchise and ruined it, so you know its great already. It is a little dated in its mission structure, PC setup and way too short but its still a classic I recommend people play. Feel the true power of the force! 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remembered this game being really good, and I loved it when it first came out. I don’t know if it’s because of the PC port or compatibility issues with modern hardware or Windows, but the controls were terrible, and on top of that I ran into graphical and audio glitches as well. In some places the camera angle is awful — you can’t see anything because of it. Otherwise, I would actually like the game; it’s always fun to fight as a Jedi or a Sith, the combos are great, and the level design…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite its obvious sign of age, it is a very good game and I have very much enjoyed it so far. I have seen a few reviews talking about crashing issues, so far I have only crashed once, I will knock the game in that because I couldn't switch tabs or access my task manager to close the game, forcing me to restart my PC. I've never once had a game freeze and not allow me to access my task manager, other than that incident I have very much enjoyed my experience in the game. Now as for when you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →9/10 I love this game. Such a compelling take on the lore. Such a fun gameplay premise. Such a cool story. And the Force powers!!! This game still holds up as pure fun, pure good Star Wars. Nuff said.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kind of a bummer to give The Force Unleashed a negative review. I know this game has like 7 different versions, but I didn't think the PC version would be such a mess. I know people like to complain about this game being locked at 30 FPS, but I can deal with that for a 17 year old game that can be beaten in less than 10 hours. This is just a messy, buggy port. The aim on the grip power is broken, controls feel sluggish/delayed, and there were quite a few audio issues. The second to last level…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Outdated, horrible control, botched pc port, constantly stunlocking, 30 fps locked choppy garbage. 0/10 waste of money. Pulling down the star destroyer is impossible, need I also mention that the last two levels lack sound?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is absolute trash, it's one of the worse games I have ever played and is broken for mouse and keyboard where some parts are impossible without controller, no surprise since the people that made the port are the same ueseless devs that made the battle front 1 and 2 remake, so no shockers there, this company deservers no respect and the devs that work there are talentless and do not derserve jobs and should all be fired.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →13 missions with Starkiller , QTE , playing vador in the prologue capped at 30 FPS but you can uncap it with mod
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the BEST Star Wars games EVER MADE!!! This is one of the MANY games that captures the true essence of Star Wars. As while most disney derp wers games and media continues to fail ALL of the time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My nostalgia placed this game on a pedestal. It is not as great as I remembered.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good job, Nintendo. Really nice port.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is pretty cool I used to play on my cousins xbox 360 but omg it crashes at everything or freezes at simple things. Tie fighter flies by and explodes in second mission crash. Changing your sound settings freeze. Upgrading combat moves freeze. Load into 3rd mission crash. Try to screenshare on discord to friends crash. As much as I wanted to enjoy this game again its really unstable but still kinda recommend it.
