Okay but can we talk about those top reviews for a second? 😅 I genuinely don’t understand why there’s so much negativity up there. One of them honestly made me wonder if they even played the game, because… everything they said was just wrong? Like, did we play the same thing?? Anyway! Moving on from that little rant. I think this game is so cute. Is it on the same level as Stardew Valley or Coral Island for me …

Don't be fooled, the reviews are astroturfed to hell. You can very much tell this game was designed by Chinese gacha/mmo businessmen telling ghost coders with no passion for these type of games to frankenstein everything cozy gamers would like into one game, slap some capybaras on it, and lie about romance features to get sales. At first glance, the game looks beautiful and promising. The world is visually appealing, the farming is relaxing, and there are a lot of different systems and activities available. It gives the impression of a rich and immersive life sim. But the longer you play, the more it starts to feel like the game is as wide as the ocean, but as deep as a puddle. There are many features on the surface, but very little depth …

undisclosed ai, tencent backing. not an indie studio. kickstarter was a success, scammed tons of people who STILL haven't gotten their keys. the day 1 dlc is $20 for a recolored $100 kickstarter tier outfit. idk. just not a good look. if you don't mind that, then i can say i also dont care for the gameplay. sure it sucks you in right away, but the market for farming life sims is SOOO busy. the one thing it really offers that's different from most is the progression system you have to do…

Not worth the price Edit: I heard my review rambled so I'm trying to edit it down. My thoughts wander sometimes, so please bear with me. I would like to put this up here, as people think I'm review bombing. I was a tester for the game. I played 68.9 hours on the alpha and beta test phase and alpha was 75% better than beta, and the devs behavior made me decide not to play EA so I don't comment on EA game play. I do feel that when I played beta test phase there was nothing new to experience, and…

It’s understandable for the game to feel unfinished during Early Access. What’s disappointing is that even the full release feels just as incomplete, since there’s barely anything meaningfully new. them emphasizing that they’re a "small indie developer" to gain goodwill from the playerbase is just pathetic. Being a "small indie studio" is not an excuse for releasing an unfinished mess of a game. The trademark "Starsand Island" is registered to Zhuhai Kingsoft Digital Network Technology Co.,…

Devs are checking off every box for suspicious behavior, including but not limited to: - posing as indie but having huge corporate backing - banning everyone with concerns in their Discord - anti cheat in a single player game, undisclosed - botted positive reviews - huge day one price tag for an "indie" - day one dlc - dishonesty with Kickstarter backers You can…

I've waited to make my review because I saw a lot of potential in Starsand Island. Unfortunately, there's no coming back from how the developers have handled things. The game is riddled with AI, the discord community is toxic, the developers lied about being a small studio and paid for fake positive reviews upon early access release. The list just keeps going. The graphics are cute, yes. But that's all you're going to get for the completely unreasonable price of $40. There's an issue with…

IF YOU ARE ANTI-AI DO NOT GET THIS GAME. I originally started playing this game because one of my fav youtubers recommended it, plus at the time there was a huge steam summer sale happening. In an interview the devs were asked about plans to add DLC. They explicitlly said they would add free DLC. They've also explicitly said multiple times that they wouldn't add microtransactions to the game. On day 1 they released a paid DLC, but I could forgive them since it was part of the deluxe bundle. I saw that as an exception. But now 2 weeks later they released a paid DLC. Before the game has launched the devs have been caught lying several times, and it appears they are still lying. They…

No. I got this game specifically to play with other people, but the multiplayer implementation is honestly one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Multiplayer is locked behind hours of single-player gameplay, so you can’t play together from the start. And to make things worse, progress is only awarded to the host. If you join someone else’s game, your own progression doesn’t carry over. I genuinely don’t understand why multiplayer was designed this way, especially after various multiplayer…

I definitely can't recommend this game anymore... undisclosed gen AI use after promising no AI use and the addition of an AI modding tool has soured me on this game. prior to becoming aware of this I would have said the game is a fine, but ultimately not exciting farming sim that has some things I like and some things I don't... but was a playable enough experience that I was planning to try for all of the achievements whenever I felt like spending the several minutes it took to load the game…

Starsand is one of those rare cases for me where the game actually lived up to my excitement level going into it. So often I’ll get hyped for an upcoming game, only to be disappointed by the product when it comes out. But Starsand is absolutely amazing so far. I’m loving it. It’s by no means perfect or flawless, but no early access game is. But to be totally honest, I haven’t really experienced many bugs or issues so far. A lot of false advertising, the relationships and story are almost nonexistent. It's mostly a chore simulator. There's been a lot of smoke and mirrors, and avoidance from the team, so I highly recommend not getting it in EA. They've been breaking trust and their word since the KS, so I would urge those considering the game to wait until full-release to see if they actually make the game that they're saying they will.

I’m extremely disappointed that Youfang was removed as a romance option right before 1.0. He was presented alongside the other bachelors throughout the Kickstarter/Early Access period, was treated as a romanceable Bond character in the game, and even had romantic content. Game is mid. While the world is beautiful and the design options seem unlimited, the characters are dull and flat. They show almost no emotion. If you told me to guess who I was talking to just based on personality, I wouldn't be able to tell. They're pretty lifeless. The build mode is a mess and works only half the time. If you're familiar with the My Time games, a lot of what you see in Starsand Island will look familiar to you, and that's discounting the direct cameos from those games that show up here. The processing-crafting-building gameplay loop is present, light exploration and combat add some secondary objectives, and of course you have the small picturesque town with 10-14 single men and women as is required in every farming-style sim game. But as indebted as this game is to the My Time series, it…

I was a Kickstarter backer for this game, and coming into it with no beta or alpha experience, my first impression is pretty neutral. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that there’s really no sense of a storyline, and right from the start the quests feel rushed. Some NPCs have voiced cutscenes while others don’t, which makes the whole experience feel inconsistent. The vehicle mechanics are also surprisingly clunky and awkward to use. The English translation isn’t the best (from Chinese), but it’s acceptable and you can play without problems. This game was fun at first. Then I realized how much spyware had been installed and was transferring data overseas. Strike one. Strike two is that they claim to be an indie studio, but are in fact a huge corporation with hundreds of employees. Strike three is that the game gets MORE buggy with every update and instead of fixing those bugs, they go for multiplayer. All in all not worth it--especially the security risks.

I have 270+ hours in this game. Played it since release, watching all the AI claims and devs denials. It's important to me not to support AI and I take it seriously. I just learned this game has Generative AI exposed in mod tools. I even supported them through their fake review "scandal" because I believed they were legit. l'll be uninstalling. Truly unhappy with the lies and the fact I inadvertently paid into AI.

So after playing 120 hours pre-launch and extremely excited for multiplayer to start a new save with friends.. I was BAFFLED at the requirements you have to take to do so. Why are you having your player base jump through hoops in order to play with friends? WE WANT TO START THE GAME AT THE BEGINNING with our friends and work our way through, not after a bit of a grind to get passed smooth sailing. what's even theeeeee poiinntttt?! I brushed off the fact that the dating system was…

The full game is as blatantly hostile to modding as the demo is. They encrypt `global-metadata.dat` (IL2CPP), and deliberately go out of their wat to prevent normal Unity modding frameworks such as BepInEx or MelonLoader from working. Ignoring and not supporting modding tools is normal. Going to lengths to actively prevent it? ♥♥♥♥ you. (I've found the function responsible for doing the actual decryption, I just have to get a debugger attached early enough to scrape the input key (arg 1) and…

STEAM DECK USERS type "SteamDeck=0 %command%" in the launch options (in game properties) (without quotes) to get all the graphics options. Foreword I just want to say I am not in the discord, and idk who the "discord cult" mentioned in that top review is when I leave this glowing review. I don't know about the alleged knife in the back, gaslighting, lies, deceit, or whatever else towards "everyone" who supported the kickstarter (even though I only saw one person actually upset right at…

Deceptive, scammy, and shady. The game uses gen ai but doesn't disclose that anywhere. Not to mention it is a vibe coded game/ ai coded game that's full of bugs. Steam needs to just refund everyone who bought this game, and it needs to be taken down. Total cash grab, do not waste your money. The devs are shady and the whole game is deceptive. On top of that, the characters are all boring and have no personality, there is no main story, the game is just bare bones a big lot of nothing. They…

Cute game with beautiful landscapes, lots of missions, and plenty of things to do. The animations feel a bit stiff, which is a negative point, and I hope they improve this in the future. However, that doesn’t take away from the game’s positive aspects. I just finished the main exploration quest and found the challenges to be repetitive; I also hope this gets improved in the final version

One of the things that hooked me during its early access phase was the game's blend of cozy nostalgic reminiscent of Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing (on Nintendo Switch) wrapped in charming 3D anime-style visuals. It boasts a highly aesthetic world and visuals; the island setting, populated by capybaras, cats, and stray dogs, creates a relaxed atmosphere filled with vibrant colors. Social interaction and romance features are well-polished, offering "3-Heart Relationship Stories" and an…

While the game looks beautiful everything else about it is mostly "meh". The systems are functional but there's no real reason to do anything or care about the various people you encounter. From a game thats clearly so very inspired by Portia and Sandrock, it didn't learn the lessons those games clearly taught: Story and memorable NPCs are important. This game has neither.

I enjoyed the demo a lot and bought the game for its slow-pace cozy life, although it doesn't run so well on my pc and I noticed the lack of depth story-wise. I wasn't planning to post a review, especially not a negative one, but there is something that is unacceptable to me: paying false positive reviews to boost the game. They are easy to spot (4-5h, same backlog) and I think this is spoiling the game for me. I was enjoying myself so far but I'm considering getting a refund now. Trying to…

I’m actually really enjoying Starsand Island! It’s exceeding my expectations honestly. I’m a quest loving girlie and this game will keep you busy! So there are five different professions you can choose from to make money Crafter, Farmer, Angler, Explorer and Rancher. It’s recommended to start with Crafter to make better money. You get a different mentor for each profession! You can upgrade your skills in the Workpedia app to make your jobs easier and faster (using Starsand points) which you…

I don't recommend this game. If you're thinking about it, wait until full release. Right now, the game is empty. People will say: "it's early access." Well, as a backer, let me remind you that the full release was originally scheduled for the end of 2025. So what is actually in the game right now? Crafting and building. It's polished and pretty. I'll give them that. But that's it. The world is empty. No narrative, no lore, no quests, no character stories. Nothing. The characters are hollow…

This game is actually so good. It's kind of a mix of the best aspects of every major farming/life sim, but they also very much made it their own. I bought it a week ago. I initially played it on Gamepass to try it out. Loved it, and bought it on Steam. Sadly, there was no cross save functionality, and I couldn't convert the .msav to .sav to make it work. There is a big version mismatch between Gamepass and Steam, so if you are on the fence, I recommend Steam. Especially because they are adding…

Edit for full release: IT GOT WORSE! I want a refund! Everything below is still very, VERY true AND they even REMOVED the option to romance one of the characters (the npcs still are very hallow and shallow), add multiplayer that is locked behind HOURS of single player as well as doesn't progress carry for anyone but the host. Small Edit: I recommend reading other not recommend reviews as well. This game is a mess from the developer side from undisclosed use of ai, strange date collection.…
