What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 243 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (1,158 of 1,481 positive).
Players praise the game's unique aesthetic and fun co-op puzzles. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the game is short and lacks replayability. [4][5][6] A few players criticize bugs and unoriginal enemy AI. [7][8][9]

Has voice chat, but pressures the player into staying silent. Encourages hiding, but it only works in specific locations leaving the terrain feeling hollow. Has a mechanic to stagger/harm monsters that doesn't seem to function. Has a healing mechanic, but also an enemy that one-shots you making healing feel somewhat pointless. I wanted to have fun, but I found myself subject to a Sisyphean back and forth with an …

To preface this review, I am not placing any spoilers inside of this. It will just be an honest review of my experience and why I really enjoyed this game. To begin with, in the new age of horror it is very difficult to find a worthwhile game that has good gameplay, story, runs well, and has an interesting hook to it. Storebound succeeds at each of these in it's own way. The gameplay for this may seem basic from the …

really fun to play with friends, i was dissuaded by some of the other reviews but it is a very fun proximity chat indie horror game! its like being able to enter the ikea scp (SCP-3008) from SCP Foundation. Really fun premise! There's multiple episodes, and the first one already took us over an hour so we still have lots of playing to do :) super happy with how the game is and its still early access

It's...pretty meeh-okay really. 2 Chapters - once completed - u got no reason to continue playing. Game ain't hard, the AI/monsters are pretty bad. The radio really hurts my ears. You can compare this to Zort very well. Same principal and playstyle. But no where near as good i'm afraid. Would I therefore really recommend it? Honestly, no. But it doesn't deserve a bad review either so.

Loved the aesthetic and the overall theme, the game improved a lot since the demo. Gameplay is similar to the backrooms games. There's a bunch of levels each with its own puzzle you need to complete to advance, and entities hunting you. There's little in terms of load screens, one area of the mall leads to the next and it feels like you're progressing through the map. There's a "day/night" mechanic where entities …

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an alright game, but not what I was originally expecting. in 9 months (When the first trailer for this came out) it switched from something that looked a bit more realistic into something that basically looks like the meth head version of wallace and gromit. It tries to do something similar to Abiotic Factor and Security Breach, but more restrictive. It's an episodic game, with 2 episodes out so far. So basically no replayability once you've played through each one once. I like the…

neutral · AI labelView post →Also Storebound left early access today! Some people were a bit bent out of shape that it's not an endlessly replayable Lethal Company-like. It REALLY isn't. It's basically a co-op (up to 3 players) escape room on a bigger, more story-driven scale, with some monsters to run and hide from.

neutral · AI labelView post →It's fun, and I'm glad I bought it and can play the updates with my friends, but I feel like at this point the game has kinda became not really what I thought it would be. A lot of the mechanics are kinda meh, the base power items are worth it sometimes but largely feel like leftovers of another game. Perks remain pretty simple. No customization, no real replay value, the points system doesn't really do anything of purpose The story also just kinda is whatever. Episode 3 is so barebones as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is such a fun game, I love the puzzles, and the visuals. I wish you could play with more than 3 players though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nothing particularly innovative. We've finished the two chapters and got quite bored in a couple of areas. The gameplay itself is simple tho. What would make this bit more immersive is a proper backstory or lore, if you will. Why are we there? Why it became an escape room? Who are the creatures? Also what are the points for? There's no in-game store, so not sure why I should care for the amount of points I get at the end of the levels. The feeling I have is that through the game…

neutral · AI labelView post →dont get me wrong, this game's first four episodes are AMAZING, but i feel like the entire game genuinely goes downhill in episode 5 and 6, both with the themes and the story. it feels so rushed and thrown around?? everything we were building up to basically didnt matter in the slightest the game is good but oh my god the developers genuinely made such a huge let down for the last 2 episodes

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a nice retro aesthetic. Some of the puzzle designs are quite interesting, and the atmosphere and sound effects are both well done. The sanity system adds a lot of fun to the gameplay. As a co-op horror game, I highly recommend playing it with friends.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Episode 1&2 feel like the start to a interesting horror game with a dynamic way to approach the monsters and proceed the area if a little repetitive and annoying if you get caught near the end but episodes 3&4 were none of that, there's a different monster that is the same 'look to stop it's movements' trope every horror game uses nowadays with only one slightly engaging puzzle and I can't in my right mind give this a positive review.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game! I sneezed near my friend Teddyman27 and the employees kindly assisted me with a lamp to the teeth. I can’t sneeze anymore. 10/10 Game!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game even though they only have 2 episodes out. The Meticulous Shopper achievement was challenging. Easiest way to get it was playing with 2 people and having one player wait by fuse boxes while the other player went and did the puzzles on episode 1. Took me 4.2 hours to get all the current 15 achievements. Can't wait for more episodes to be released.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disclosure: I received a free review copy of this product from https://www.keymailer.co Hello everyone! I *just* finished playing this game with some friends and I wanted to give my two cents about it! The Good: -STYLE: This game has a unique look and feel that I enjoyed. The Muppet looking characters and the early 90s-2000s aesthetic took me back, though the game being set in 2014 does clash with that idea a bit. -PUZZLES: I enjoyed the approach this game took in navigating through the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We are publishing a new game Storebound and it gathered 30K wishlists in its first 2 weeks. How did we do it? 🧵
neutral · AI labelView post →An unfortunately disappointing package after such a promising start. After Episode 2, every player build felt interchangeable, and the puzzles got significantly more tedious starting with Episode 5. The presentation can be pretty fun at times, but there's no real substance to speak of
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely love the aesthetic and overall theme of this game. It’s also one of the very few games I’ve seen genuinely improve so much from its demo version, which was really nice to see. Storebound’s gameplay is somewhat similar to Backrooms games with multiple levels that each feature their own unique puzzles you need to solve in order to progress, there’s also a really interesting day/night mechanic where entities hunt you down and try to kill you once it turns night. It reminds me a lot…

neutral · AI labelView post →More like a proof of concept than actual product. Linear and short, without any real replay value Puzzles are ok, but nothing than that. Only one real enemy, and his AI is really dumb. It isn't really scary, after initial starting phase It isn't hard, even on "Insane" difficulty (No idea what higher difficulty changed tbh) It is bugged af Things that i like about this game: Artstyle is somewhat good and original Concept and story has potential Sanity mechanic is a good…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Storebound is the ultimate retail nightmare you didn't know you needed. If you’ve ever looked at a dimly lit IKEA and thought, "I hope I don't die here," this is the game for you. Storebound takes the "liminal space" horror of the Backrooms and SCP-3008 and turns it into a masterclass of co-op tension. The Vibes are Immaculate (and Terrifying) The atmosphere in this "megastore" is heavy. During "opening hours," the flickering lights and empty aisles feel eerie, but when closing time hits? It’s…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Day 2 of this game being out and I just finished the first bit of story mode with a friend and while there were a few bugs, i cannot recommend this game enough, novel game mechanics and plenty of new content to consume! I truly believe it'll be the next "w friendslop" game like R.E.P.O. and Lethal Company. If ur on the fence, it's worth the 7 bucks. Give it a try!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the first few eps are really good but after it just turns from being a horror game into annoying puzzle slop that takes you 25 mins to figure out with an ending that makes no sense
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My god chapters 1-4 were good, they had the mystery of the store, the puzzles were amazingly made, the enemies made sense in the setting (The monster employees, the insane customers and the surveillance cameras) and the story genuinely was interesting with the red triangle. BUT THEN chapter 5 and 6 came out, with present being BANKRUPT and SHUTDOWN since around 1987 scientists have gone into the store to recover anomalies and find out the true nature of present. BUT THEN at the end of the game…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game looks good, plays well for the most part, and is an enjoyable experience. Buyers beware at the moment, it's VERY short on release, not worth it to me but I respect the indie hustle and hope the best for the game. If the game becomes noticeably longer in the future, I might get it again.

neutral · AI labelView post →it was really fun at first, especially chapters 1,2,4, but after that it just fell apart. by chapter 5 it became a chore to get through and the ending was pretty disappointing. chapters 3, 5 and 6 were easily the weakest. and the ending makes it feel like everything we did was for nothing anyway.

neutral · AI labelView post →I don't usually even post a review if i hated it but this game kinda needs love. Episodes 1 and 2 seemed pretty damn short and I was incredibly hopeful that they would do BETTER on 3 and 4 but 3 was just a walking simulator with zero monsters in it till the VERY end of it, and 4 was just "okay ill stand here while you all do the puzzle". "weeping angel" type enemies are genuinely so overdone and in my opinion one of the laziest enemies you can add to your game. Its okay if they're in your game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played through episodes 1-4... That was cool. It was a fun game that requires team work. I love the Muppet like graphics, the whole thing had a unique enjoyable look and the game logic was very intuitive. I look forward to future episodes. Also it's very optimized it can run on both my gaming PC and my 8 year old potato laptop.

neutral · AI labelView post →If you’ve ever played single-player horror games like Poppy Playtime, Garten of Banban, or recent FNAF games and thought, “This could be fun with friends,” then this game might be a right thing for you assuming you have friends to play with. However, if you’re expecting more than another multiplayer “friend-slop” horror game, this isn’t the game for you. Even if it has some kind of unique visual style and a few nice ideas (like sky pads, glue puddles, or broken glass scattered around the maps),…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game, just needs some work. The enemies can at times feel dull and unoriginal, and the healing seems half-developed. Having an enemy that instakills the player, and having a full "tool" that heals doesn't seem all that useful. Storebound has a lot of potential in my opinion. Once they get a full grasp on the idea and how everything will blend together to make a fun experience, I would 100% recommend it. As of right now, I think it still is a fun game to play with friends, but it doesn't…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was alot of fun to play, i enjoyed the puzzles, aesthetic, and the overall gameplay. Towards the start of the second episode the in game mic features did stop working and we had to switch to discord (the only major bug we ran into). Other than that it was super fun. neutral · AI labelView post →This game is very fun to play with the right friends. We've played the demo and often load the game just to mess arround with the monster. The employe's AI is very interresting as it follows your path even sneaking out behind you ! I just wish there was more diversity in the puzzles we already have. For the door puzzle it doesnt change, same with the key burried in the maze. Otherwise this game is amazing and i can wait for the 3rd episode to come out ! Thannk you !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Imagine the gameplay of Outlast Trials but the visuals of SCP-3008. It's enjoyable but doesn't do anything different, I'd probably just play Outlast Trials. Good alternative if you don't like the nudity and gore of such game.
