This game really disappointed me. What started out as an interesting puzzle game with 2 different perspectives slowly becomes one of the worst platformers I've ever played. The top-down puzzle aspect of the girl is very interesting, with beautiful graphics (in a dated but charming way) and clever challenges. But the side scrolling teddy bear part is absolutely insufferable. The moment you switch controls the …

Tandem: A Tale Of Shadows is a fun and visually pleasing little puzzle game with an interesting story. It may seem a bit wacky in the beginning but at the end everything starts to make sense. Critics, per Wikipedia
Tandem: A Tale of Shadows received favourable reviews. While the game was praised for its unique and creative gameplay and art style, it was criticised for the short length and lack of narrative. Christopher Byrd of the Washington Post felt that Tandem's narrative was somewhat lacking, writing that "its hasty early cinematics don't do it any favors, but its exquisitely structured puzzle-platforming levels render them beside the point. ... The setup of the game feels rushed, providing only a bare-bones introduction to the characters and their motivations. Yet as soon as control of Emma and Fenton is passed to the player, the game finds its footing." Vitor Alexandre of Eurogamer wrote in his…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →eventually I want to make a stylish car game. The core design idea is that it's a game about style, both in the driving and the players aesthetic. Downhill and Uphill drifting, but making clean motions corner to corner is core to the feel. Tandem drifting would be the most satisfying thing to do.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fabulous shiny game that both made me over-complicate things, and left me confuzzled. These are great puzzles, and the concept works fantastic. I thought it might mess with my equilibrium switching between the two characters and points of view, but it’s seamless. Wonderful checkpoints, beautiful artwork, relaxing music, and clever puzzles. It’s rare that a game can take over my mind so much I forget to talk during stream, but this one had me just enjoying the game. Few people had trouble…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The TL:DR of this review: good puzzles, AWFUL story, VERY off putting ending. Some gamers might retort: "meh, puzzle games don't need a STORY…do they?" Honestly...no, puzzle games do NOT need a story, though if you DO attempt one, make sure it's a good story, with NO plot holes (where did the "shadow teddy bear" come from, and WHY), and a great, rewarding ending. Play Tandem for the puzzles, NOT the story. The puzzles ARE good, at moments very good, and reminded me (in a good way) of a similar…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good puzzle-platformer. You play the two main characters simultaneously: Emma in a top-down 3D view and Fenton in a 2D side scrolling one. Both of them has to clear each others path of any obstruction to progress and finish each level. 40 of them to be precise, nicely packed in 5 sets. Each set has exactly 8 maps and vastly differs both in gameplay and theme from the others, tied to various locations within the mansion. The mansion looks great, it has a subtle creepy vibe to it and the…

Surprisingly many options fit that description! positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic puzzle game. The way you have to maneuver between the two characters, both in their own perspective, is so well done. A fun implementation of the 2.5 aspect to the game. The atmosphere and soundtrack blend in perfectly with eachother; which make it more enjoyable to play. Highly recommended for any puzzle enthusiast with a taste for the weird. The ending was unexpected and seems to be hanging on a potential cliffhanger, so hopefully they'll continue. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting puzzles. I like the dynamics of the light and shadow views. However, while the puzzles were fun, the story was not! :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You solve creepy puzzles by playing a little girl Emma with the help of a teddy bear called Fenton. It was a different creepy experience. I enjoyed solving every platform, playing with lights and shadows. Emma is controlled with bird's eye view and the bear is side scrolling. That was interesting and I got used to it fastly. I will wait for a second adventure of this interesting game :) Thanks for the developers, the design is perfect. I have spent very good time.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice indie game. I really enjoyed playing it. It has a brilliant atmosphere and some grandiose soundtrack pieces similar to an opera. The gameplay is fun with some challanging puzzle platforming. I had a good time with looking for secrets and managed to collect all the artworks. The story is interesting (I found especially the ending surprising) but a Hungarian translation would be nice so I can fully undestand it in my native language.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would only recommend this game if it's on sale. For the most part I enjoy the game play. I did run into several issues with Emma getting pushed into areas where I had to restart the level. The mechanics are very interesting. I enjoyed the art style. The game felt incomplete at the end of each level. The music seem to complement the levels. I really wish there was dialog between Fenton and Emma. I think this would add to the story more. The ending felt rushed or like it was missing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I groaned when I started and realized this is a game played in three dimensions but as I progressed and got the hang of it, I had a lot of fun. Colorful, creative graphics and an interesting storyline. The bad guys are really cool too. The only bummer is the morbid ending. A nicely thought out game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay: Overall interesting mechanics for a single player platformer. Each world had unique themes and puzzles which made them interesting .Although it's based on having 2 main characters to play as, I can't see it being a co-op game because it would become too easy. Story: Honestly if you don't get the secrets the "story" just isn't there. I only got 4/20 somethingish through out my run. I'm unsure if the ending makes more sense if you get all the secretes but it left me with MANY…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unless you are really bored and have nothing else to play, I don't recommend this game. The gameplay here is a mix of puzzles and platforming but the game doesn't excel at either. The puzzles are very easy. I can think of two puzzles in the entire game that required just a little bit of thinking. All the other puzzles are either just busy work or scouring the map for a button. There are quite a number of mechanics, but they are not explored anywhere near their full potential, and I don't find…

So I did expect it to be good, but I can honestly say I didn't expect it to be THIS good. So, I'm gonna say it again, this game is AMAZING. The music is out of this world - really fits the whole atmosphere of the game - it has an eerie/spooky vibe that actually perfectly matches everything else in the game. The visuals are top-notch and the puzzles are fun,…

The puzzles are interesting, mainly because of the 2 camera setups, but you rarely find yourself having to really think hard to find the solution. The worst thing about this game is that I encountered a lot of glitches where Emma gets stuck all of a sudden and you have to restart the level. There's also some levels where Emma…

I never found myself bored or frustrated, loved how at times it randomly reminded me of Alice Madness Returns and the ending??? wasn't expecting such a dark ending!! Oof!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would recommend this for the puzzles, particularly in the second world, although towards the end there are a couple of levels with some "maybe if I put the thing *here*... oh! he can move now" moments. The story... well, it's a bit threadbare (despite the presence of a... thread bear...). I won't comment on the ending, see for yourself. The game took me about four and a quarter hours to complete so it's not a huge investment.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can´t recommend the game. The base idea is original and there's hard work behind the game. But making a game is more than a good idea and nice graphics. For games like these, it´s critical to design good levels, and I got bored after a couple of them. I felt like I already have played the same puzzles in other games, just now with a different perspective. It´s a pity, because the mechanics could have lead to something much better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tandem: A Tale of Shadows is an excellent, somewhat creepy puzzle game! You play as a girl named Emma and a teddy bear named Fenton who is trying to solve the case of a boy named Thomas who vanished. It's a short, but very enjoyable game. The puzzles are well crafted and just hard enough that you feel a sense of accomplishment for finishing them.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the Burton-esque/American McGee's Alice aesthetics. The puzzle mechanics are pretty simple and fun, with quite a few head scratchers. Wish it supported ultrawide tho, but it runs like a dream on a 2070 S. Highly Recommended

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good puzzle platformer with the main mechanic of shifting shadows to change platform layout. It follows the genre in having no combat and only light action/timing/platforming challenges. Victorian England setting tends towards disney/children's book rather than steampunk, and the narrative does too unfortunately (fails to be a more literary fairy tale like alice in wonderland). Tandem's superficial narrative and its linearity/lack of exploration are its biggest flaws.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the very few cases were a puzzle game that makes you control more than one character doesn't do that to just slow down the gameplay and make it seem more complicated than what it really is, and instead only uses this to expand the possibilities for other interesting puzzles. And also don't be discouraged by what looks to be about both stealth and strict timing in some sections, there's no stealth in the traditional sense, is all an enigma about distracting, blocking the view and/or even…

Simple enough, solve the puzzles stopping the teddy bear from gaining you some sort of magical fragment of a key to unlock the next area. Each new area starts off with a new mechanic to get used to and each level is packed with tons of variety. It's a fair game that doesn't focus on punishing you.…
