to be honest, i attempted a few times writing an essay for this game, and whatever i text, i cannot frame myself properly. perhaps its due to my insufficient vocabulary, not sure. but i absolutely know that this game is the best story that ive ever read so far. i usually dont like comparing things to another, unlike mediatok. but this game was a disparate experience than anything else. the characters are really …

"Farewell, until our souls cross paths once more in the boundless sphere of fate." The House in Fata Morgana portrays the most fragile aspects of human nature. It’s a wonderful story about walking the fine line between hope and despair. The true power of this work isn't its tragedy, but the way it shows that it's possible to remain human even in the darkest moments. It was a life changing experience and easily one …

I played the switch version so my eight hours isn't accurate but it's really hard to convey exactly how good The House in Fata Morgana is. its starts off a little slow and rough and the door one art might feel a little goofy but if you push through to door three you start to hit what I can only describe as genuinely one of the best and most impactful stories I've ever read. Without exaggeration I truly and honestly …

"One day, I'll show you the world." "Until our souls cross paths once more in the boundless sphere of fate." How does one go about reviewing something like this? If it's possible, it is beyond my ability. The House in Fata Morgana did something exceptionally, exceptionally rare: It made me grateful that I was Alive. It made me grateful that I had the chance to experience it, and that I chose to. It made me grateful …

I can't fully express how much I love this game. Fata isn’t simply a VN I adore it’s a story that altered the way I think about tragedy, forgiveness and the cruelty of time. Calling it my favorite feels almost insufficient, it’s a work whose characters lingered long after the credits, it felt more like being haunted, in the best possible way.

96% of the 230 Steam reviewers we collected recommend The House in Fata Morgana. The complaint that keeps coming up: pacing is slow, especially in the first half. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

positive · AI labelView post →If I could give a neutral review, I would. Because I'm really in the middle with this game. I wasn't sure about it when I first started it, as I thought the art was a bit unsettling to look at and there seemed to be lots of dialogue. However, as I started going through the first couple doors, i got really invested in the story and really appreciated the twists and turns it took. The soundtrack also made it very atmospheric and I associated certain doors and characters appearing, with specific…

positive · AI labelView post →This is the Ethel Cain of visual novels—a work of unanimous, overwhelming praise, yet prose so immature it reads as though a teenager wrote it. Most glaring are its pacing issues: arcs are developed in an agonisingly slow burn, then suddenly go from zero to ten. There is this pervading sense the game does not know when to stop—in place of anticipated conclusion, it introduces a new plot, refusing to deal with the most interesting part, consequences. When this happens, actions have no weight.…

And somehow, it just keeps getting better and better. The story, the plot twists, the atmosphere, and especially the characters... everything is unforgettable. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really think if this game caught your attention in any sort of way, regardless of if this is not the usual stuff you'd be into, you should give it a try just for the sake of it. It's a slow-burning story; it's long and there won't be immediate gratification upon reading it. It portrays how tragic and unfair life can be, and the sense of hopelessness it comes with at points. But, despite this, it also highlights the beauty to be found in it, in ways you probably wouldn't expect. Others…

This was short but sweet epilogue game to both the original and Requiem for Innocence, showing how all the main cast have changed since the original game and it gives closure for everyone, that they are all now in a better place.
positive · AI labelView post →10/10 A story that stays with you long after the credits roll. I just finished The House in Fata Morgana, and honestly, I'm still trying to process everything I went through. If you’re looking for a casual game to pass a few hours, this might not be for you. But if you have the patience for a deeply moving, dark, and intensely human narrative, this is an absolute masterpiece that lingers far beyond its runtime. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel overwhelmed by this game. You need to play The House in Fata Morgana knowing it's a rare love story and it's the spine of the entire story, it's cruel yet tender at the same time. It’s one of a kind game that makes you kinda mad at video games for not aiming this high. First I'll start with it's biggest issue, the pacing especially in the first half. The early doors can feel so repetitive especially in structure, like the game is insisting you sit hours before it fully earns your…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Essentially no game design to speak of, though an excellent Work of Literature. Has a handful of moments where the pacing turns glacial, asking for near biblical faith from the reader, though said faith is consistently and duly rewarded. Perhaps the most romantic work of art I've had the pleasure of enjoying since maybe Punch Drunk Love. And that's one heck of a romantic movie.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finished up The House in Fata Morgana a few days ago after working on it across several months. It took a while not because it's a bad game or a bad VN; quite the opposite, it's fantastic. It's just a story that required me to be in a particular mood/emotional state to engage with, which limited how often I was ready to go through another section. Fata Morgana is a really great visual novel and a strong love story set within the framework of some tremendously dark and twisted events. This…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished getting all of the achievements for this game and wow, it blew my mind! I expected a good visual novel. What I got was something that genuinely was a masterpiece. The last few hours had me sobbing, and it earned every single tear. The art is gorgeous. Gothic and haunting in all the right ways. But honestly, it's the characters that make this special. Everyone in this story is so deeply flawed and human. No one is just good or evil. They all have their reasons, their pain,…

positive · AI labelView post →Full review is available [url=https://nszark.substack.com/p/the-house-in-fata-morgana]here. Visual novels stand in a very peculiar place among video games. They frequently face criticism for being unappealing due to their quite limited interactivity and modest graphical presentation. Can you even call something you don’t actively play a game? The fans, however, highlight the stories of these games as some of the deepest and most meaningful ones. Reflecting on this, I always found it logical…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The House in Fata Morgana is my favorite game of all time. I've been thinking about where I should place it for awhile now, and I really had to think hard to come to that conclusion. No game, No movie, No book, has ever come close to evoking that much emotion or thought from me. Of course, you can pass that off as lack of experience or just recency bias, but I really don't think those are the case—especially the latter.
