This is not a bad game. In fact, it is quite well made. But it very much misrepresents itself during the early hours of playtime. Good game. Great voice acting and dialogue writing. It has lots of fun and challenging logical deductions to figure out who is who and where everyone is while piecing together the timeline. However, I personally found the ending to be wholly unsatisfying but I can't explain why without spoiling the whole story. I feel like I put together a series of events but I didn't really get to the bottom of the mystery. Still …

As someone who played "The Roottrees are Dead" and is also a big fan of "Return of the Obra Dinn" I have to say: really captivating and fun-to-solve mystery; clues are cleverly embedded in the dialogue and scenes. The process of finding the clues and piecing them together felt really rewarding. Definitely would recommend picking up this game if you are into puzzles.

95% of the 350 Steam reviewers we collected recommend The Incident at Galley House. The complaint that keeps coming up: ending feels unsatisfying to some players. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

Critics, per Wikipedia

The Incident at Galley House received generally favorable reviews from critics, according to the review aggregation website Metacritic. Fellow review aggregator OpenCritic assessed that the game received "mighty" approval, being recommended by 92% of critics. Polygon commented that it could be the best mystery game of the year, or at least the "most unusual remake". The operation of the machine, which involves turning various dials and knobs, has been described as giving the game a gothic science fiction aesthetic and moving away from the police procedural approach that would usually be associated with a murder mystery story. The interface was positively received, with Bloody Disgusting…

I enjoyed most of my time with the game, but the reviews being rated as highly helpful built expectations that were not met by the game itself. The Incident at Galley House is a fun story to sit through, but the deduction is a lot less in your hands than something like Obra Dinn, Painscreek Killing, or Paradise Killer. It is an even farther cry from Outer Wilds in terms of how it goes about telling it's story. One is a non-linear sandbox full of exploration and mysteries and one is a visual…

"Who/when/where" fractured timeline paranormal deductive detective game with full voice acting. Good enough for me to complete it in one long 12-hour session. I recommend turning "show connections" off in the game's settings for a more immersive and challenging experience. Impressively good QOL tools, including a search function. And, even more impressively, everything in the game makes sense, even if it may not seem to at the beginning. These kind of games often have a bunch of inconsistencies…

I really really liked the progression mechanics of this game. Unlike the Roottrees game, I never once had to turn to the Internet for help and it genuinely has all the narrative needed to solve the game within the game itself, which is one of those things that often comes up as a problem for the deduction game genre when players get stuck. I also never once needed to use the tip system. Based on some of the reviews I've seen on here, however, the play times seem to indicate at least a handful…

What a game. The deductions are fun and interesting but holy crap the concept alone carries it. The core mystery is such an amazing and unique take combining so many elements of horror to make something so unique. The voice acting is astounding and some scenes are just... extremely emotional. The best part of the game is how it sets up rules and then fully logically applies them to their fullest extent. Its the kind of thing that makes you ponder and discuss on why certain things happened…

Easy recommendation for detective game fans. I had played the beginning of Type Help a while ago, but held off on the rest to wait for this remake. The new art and voice acting work really well with the gameplay, along with the music. Really enjoyed the whole thing. My favourite part was the bit that, I'm told, wasn't actually in the original game. Obviously, I won't spoil any of that here, but it was great!

Starts off strong as what seems to be a murder mystery that needs solving. As a player, you're thrust into a scenario that asks you to determine who killed who, why did these people die, and how? So you closely monitor every detail of every recorded scene in an attempt to piece things together, but then at some point the actual shape of the universe of the game becomes clear, and all of…

I was disappointed with this game. The beginning had me hooked. I genuinely enjoyed learning everyone's names, matching faces to characters, and slowly piecing together who everyone was. For the first third of the game, I was excited to keep investigating. After that, though, the pacing became painfully slow for me. I gupled the game in one sitting, so it's good. Gameplay-wise, you play as a scientist investigating a chain of mysterious deaths scene after scene, a la Return of the Obra Dinn or IMMORTALITY. To see a scene, you need to figure out its exact place, time, and participants. The string of connections is chained well — I only used hints a couple of times at the end because I was tired; otherwise, if you're paying attention, the game gives you plenty of clues to check and find more scenes, but…

Just finished The Incident at Galley House. Brilliant mystery game; one of the best things I've played this year.

The devs have done it again. Easily one of the best games of 2026, and a really clean evolution of TYPE HELP. Voice acting is a real standout as well. Keep doing what you're doing, and I'll play every single one of these.

I kept waiting for the 'why' to be properly explained, but it never is. They just handwave it away. You…
