I've enjoyed other games from this developer but I felt like this one was just very lazily or incapably put together. Nothing lands in these performances, whether comedic, tense or emotional. For a game that wants you to explore the mystery, everything is uncompelling and just happens with no timing or intrigue. The first 15 minutes are cool, but the acting gets REALLY bad at some points. I really like the main actor and the receptionist, but the rest are not on their level. The dialogue makes little to no sense or is just completely over-the-top in a lot of the interactions, and the story is just not really coherent, or very good. I love well done FMVs (Contradiction, Late Shift), and wanted to like this, but I just couldn't stomach the main co-star (detective lady), supporting cast, or the story…

Definitely need to do more than 1 playthrough of this game before settling on if you like it or not. PLENTY of things to miss if you just do 1 run, hell even 2. Just finished my 6th and I still haven't seen everything. I will admit the story building seems rather rushed and it doesn't build up the mc enough for me to care about him but I still found the story fun :) It's a neat game and you can tell the devs put a lotta love into it! Easily the worst one Wales Interactive has done. Bizarre, badly written, poorly acted, boring and the story makes no sense. As the cherry on top, I got stuck in an incredibly annoying maze section at the end - I did eventually get out but after a significant amount of frustration. Just awful, I'm requesting a refund.

Awful. High production value, but the script is so terrible the actors can't 'fix' it any way they could. It's all railroaded weirdness. What were they thinking? I loved many FMV adventures, many of them have limited choices, but at least the characters would make sense. The setting would make sense. 20 minutes in, and there's nothing here, just splatters of posh mystique tropes. Terrible storytelling.

This is one of the worse games from WI and I've played a bunch of them. It is shot nicely but it is super slow. Playing it is like trying to prod a slug through a football field. Every other animation has intro, the actual thing happening and then outro. Kinda like you would expect in an FMV game. Except the intros and outros are super long. That said, the game is predicated on repeating the same bits and endlessly retrying different things to get different branches and endings. That makes it…

I would say this is one of not so good FMV games I played. Story makes no sence, acting is not good. Not good at all. I generally enjoy narrative point-and-click games but this one did not engage me at all. The story seemed disjointed and you never really had an opportunity to invest in one character too deeply. The lack of cohesion and interesting dialogue left me wanting more and an hour of play was enough for me to decide that I did not want to continue. I enjoy some of their other games but this game was not for me.

The Isle Tide Hotel is a live action interactive mystery that feels like a surreal blend of Wes Anderson aesthetics and a high stakes cult thriller. You play as an absent father who must infiltrate a strange hotel during the final night of a mysterious cult meeting to save his estranged daughter. The game is filmed entirely with a real cast and sets, which gives the experience a tangible, cinematic quality that traditional CGI often struggles to match. Every performance is intentionally…

Just look at the cover picture of this game here on the Steam page and you should know what kind of game this is. I pity the UK if this is what it is now in there. The case is made of diversity actors who stick out like sore thumbs. It's abysmal. It's also very boring and just attacks your intelligence and no interaction between people makes sense. Didn't much like this one even though this is a style of game I normally enjoy. There was little in the way of tutorial or explanation of what to expect and, while that is common enough, it caused me to get dragged through the story along what is, presumably, the shortest story path. This path ended in a door maze that was so slow and arduous to get through that I couldn't bring myself to start another play-through. I missed 80% of the story and the end bored me so much that I won't go back for…

I am reminded of Jean Cocteau's plays , especially the priestess character (ha don't judge me, I have forgotten her name) I will re play it as I found out so much more even just from the second play through. Yes, I recommend this. But definitely play more than once.... Kudos, Wales Interactive and thanks for making this discounted during the recent sale.

I wasn't that fond of this one, sadly. Here's the basic storyline: You are Josh Malone and you get a letter from a mysterious private investigator who says that your daughter is missing. First playthrough doesn't make much sense of what's the story beneath this madness. I've read through reviews saying that following playthroughs help make sense of that. It shouldn't be like that. The acting was ok but sadly nothing extraordinary. Overall, I give this 3/10 coffee mugs. Warm coffee mugs. After it's been sitting around for half and hour and it's room temperature.

The premise is interesting, the acting is alright, the “things making sense” is eh. But what really kills it is that it is SLOW and JANKY. Wait for the actors to idle, make a decision, wait for the actors to idle some more, awkward cut that breaks the audio continuity, wait for the actors to idle some more, eventually they’ll get to (sort of) executing your decision. C’mon, it’s 2023. Get with it.

I don't think it is a particularly good FMV. It is plagued with pacing and editing problems, the whole experience feels like you are in slo-mo. The acting is all over the place and the story is just not that engaging. On the first playthrough you have no idea what's happening, as it all depends on one "twist," so it's probably intended. However, subsequent runs aren't any better, since they become a sort of weird achievement hunting to get everything you missed, albeit for completion's sake and…

It's hard to recommend this game, but there are a few high notes that I think make it worthwhile. First of all, it takes little time to play. You can do a play-through in an evening. If you make the right choices early on, the mystery of the plot will unfold fairly early on, and the rest of the story will make sense. The acting is quite good, and if you think of it more as an interactive film, it's not the worst one you've seen. I find myself thinking about it for a long time after playing, and…

I normally like Wales Interactive games, but not this one. It is very slow with decisions (a long drawn out silence before the decision will pop up) so it feels quite clunky. There are also lots of drawn out silences within the dialogue. It's a lot of 'every character is acting wacky and strange, so the main character sticks out like a sore thumb', got quite bored quite quickly. The acting was pretty good, just the story fell short and it's slow/clunky.

But, yes, it is not like Bloodshore, it is slower. A mystery, and I think it pays off once you get through all the paths. I guess I would recommend it if you are ok being confused for a bit, and just wonder about making bad choices before you get the gist. I like it, and I am trying to make you like it too. There.

At its core, the game plunges players into the desperate search of Josh, a father determined to find his missing daughter Eleanor, whose disappearance is tied to a sinister cult operating within the eerie confines of a remote hotel. The narrative unfolds over a series of nights…

Don't call this the worst Wales Interactive game when "Mia and the Dragon Princess" is right there.

This is one of Wales Interactive's more slowly paced games. It requires a lot more patience than you might be used to or expecting, as well as having far more subtle nuance to the choice options. The vibe is akin to Kubrick, in both visual and actor direction. It's worth exploring all routes if you enjoy that vibe and I enjoyed slowly piecing together the mystery of the Isle Tide Hotel. As a heads up, tabbing through is only available once you've seen a scene and there are WI's classic minute…

One of [Wales Interactive]'s better game titles This is an interactive film mystery that takes place in a period setting. I really liked the plot of this game but it is pretty niche and might not be everyone's cup of tea as there is not as much action in this as there is in other Wales Interactive titles. What I liked:The period setting. The sets, the props, and the costuming were all very good. The acting seems a bit off for the majority of the characters until you play the game multiple times…

As someone who is a huge FMV fan and have played many other titles from Wales Interactive and other companies, I find this one to be outrageously boring. I would like to preface the rest of this by saying that I don't think you should completely disregard this game as bad because of what I am saying, as it may appeal to others and its not an objectively bad game. I personally just did not enjoy it and I am explaining why just in-case if someone has a similar viewpoint to me and might want to…

The story is compelling and it has a slightly creepy angle to keep you motivated. The acting is sort of eh. But they aren't off putting in any sort of way. I'm new to this sort of game and so far I quite like it. Honestly, my only real complaint is that it is frequently crashing on the steam deck. I have to regularly exit the game and then come back in to proceed. That's a bit annoying.

It's like a budget version of Eyes Wide Shut, the script is probably an output of an AI on drugs, the acting is a strange combination of weird, clumsy and creepy, and nothing makes any sense. Good for laughs or playing drunk, riduculously bad as a serious attempt to pass as an actual game.

Great FMV game, very well executed. The plot is a good example of the subject matter it touches on.

Nothing makes sense in this game, everything is stupid. I thought I was getting an interesting detective game what I got is a load of fake people the acting is too unreal. The choices you make will be random as you play this game clueless and using your gut feeling not evidence. I felt that I made every wrong choice and still got the ending I wanted because of a tedious puzzle which I solved. This isn't a detective game and the story makes little to no sense. 1/10 not recommended

Since my original playthrough, I have completed the whole game, and it did grow on me with the further playthroughs. The biggest gripes I still have are the pacing and the writing. Once I was able to skip the parts I already saw, it did pick up the pace. However, I only found it redeeming after 100%. How many players will continue after the first run if it's bad? For context, my original negative review.…
