In short? An adorable, but tedious grindfest that's front-loaded with intriguing cutscenes that ultimately don't deliver on their promise. I was immediately intrigued by this game after playing the demo during a Steam Demo Fest. I liked the idea of running a gas station in this town full of mysteries. That game really hit the sweet spot for me. A bit of management, a sprinkle of simulation, and a ton of mysteries to uncover!🕵️ I finished it in just under 20 hours, so it’s not very grindy to 100%, and the devs are super responsive to players’ needs. Big recommendation from me!👽

So what is in this game is actually well done, like the individual portions are great. Upgrading your gas station is rewarding, the game play loop is satisfying, and designing your gas station is enjoyable. However, that's about where the enjoyment stops. When you first start out they're great about introducing you to secondary characters, and story elements. Everything implies there's a great story that's going to unfold, and you remain excited for starting a new day, wondering what creepiness…

The game animations are gorgeous but the game got pretty repetitive very quickly. Doing the same mini games over and over began to become a chore and when everything is automated there is almost nothing to do in the day cycle. The story was good enough but not super engaging and the ending was honestly a pretty big let down. I enjoyed it but honestly expected a little more.

Gameplay is pretty repetitive, but its not too bad for a relaxing second screen kind of thing. My main issue with the game is the writing and story, or lack thereof. I'm fine with games taking a sparse approach to writing mysteries and letting your mind fill in the gaps, but the game hardly gives anything to work with and the spacing between story beats feels overly long. The ending feels very abrupt and unsatisfying, and with the way progression works its easy to miss other endings if you…

The games ending condition can seemingly be met without the player actually resolving any of the storylines. The gameplay loop is super repetitive and basic. I sunk a lot of time into the game aiming toward automating everything so I could finally start really diving into the VERY SLOWLY drip fed story. Unfortunately, it just suddenly ends after you watch a certain thing and you are told NOTHING about what is actually going on then you exit a door and the credits roll. This game ended up so…

"You don't have to believe in something real to do real stupid things because of it." In The Last Gas Station, you're a red panda "city girl" who takes over a remote gas station near Cloven Peak. Eccentric locals warn you to stay inside after dark, strange things go bump in the night, no one knows what happened to the previous shopkeeper, someone's scattering curious recordings in your path like bread crumbs, and so you ask yourself: How can I use this weirdness to turn a profit? The game is okay. I played through the entire thing, finished most achievements and purchased all but one of the upgrades. I find the game is fun to play till you get to the automation stage, at which point you end up standing around waiting for the day to end if you hire the kids to work the station for you. The visuals are interesting, but I found the ending was pretty lackluster after all the excellent buildup throughout the story. Probably wouldn't play again.

Great visuals, good setup, poor management execution. The early game is fun, mid game is too short and the end game is an absolute disaster. The developers seemed to make "complete automation" the main goal, but they forgot to add any depth to justify it. In a good management game, automation frees you up from tedious tasks and allows you to focus on larger mechanics. Here, you will spend your "end-game" literally standing still, watching money accumulate on autopilot, repeating the 1 or 2…

Liked the demo enough to buy the game, but ultimately, after 14 hours of gameplay and finding an ending - and choosing to end it even though I had the choice to walk away - I'm done. My ADHD brain cannot handle the sheer mass of information coming in from all sides - recorders, people, the website, neighbors, plus all the decor and merch to wrangle around without any clear idea what I was doing it for or why - made my brain just sorta do the "Idunwanna" thing ADHD brains do. The final quest to fuel 500 cars is crazy, given the fact that you have no real way to influence how many cars come. By the end everything is automatized so the game is essentially just asking you to keep it open and wait. Sometimes you don't get more than 2-3 cars a day and you can't even finish the day before all of the customers on that day come. The Last Gas Station is a very simple, very shallow game that doesn't deliver on any of its hooks, It makes me really sad to write a negative review for this, becase my initial impression was really good. I purchased this game after seeing it advertised as a cozy gas station simulator with a deep mystery to solve underneath. It fails to accomplish either of those things very well. In the early game there is quite a bit of charm to the gas station simulator aspects— choosing your stock and decorations, manually pumping gas for your customers, and vying for upgrades were all fun loops that I enjoyed. Very mixed feelings about this, but in the end, the negative prevails. The Demo unfortunately promised much more than the game in the end could keep. The core game play loop, running your gas station, gets tedious very quickly. The mini games are mindnumbingly simple, and adding another one by upgrading the gas station felt more like a nuisance ("great, another place I have to run to and push two buttons") than like a reward. That makes the progress through the story quite the grind, in…

Although a cute, little game, it is really not worth spending time on. The gameplay loop is very simplistic and *extremely* repetitive. The story has some interesting elements, but they are all just jumbled together and don't lead anywhere. You get introduced to some cool side characters, but then they have absolutely no role in the rest of the game.

It starts off nice, but quickly becomes rather dull and boring. You end up automating all the minigames later on, along with an AI auto buyer and 3 workers. This results in you standing around doing nothing because there is nothing to do for you anymore. There's a Retro switcher at the end of the last shop upgrade that allows you to turn off automation and do the minigames again for a tip. But it costs 30k and is the most expensive upgrade you can buy. Meaning it's likely the last thing you…

This game is anti-green energy propaganda disguised as a cozy shop simulator. It takes several hours to uncover the narrative, but after that all the NPCs go full bore into well known anti renewable energy talking points (e.g. 'electric cars fill the dumps up with tires because they are so heavy' and 'little children are used to mine cobalt for batteries' and 'electricity companies have a monopoly and it's better to run generators on gasoline.') This developer seems to have some serious issues with electric vehicles. They aren’t even ashamed to mindlesly parrot every cheap cliché against electric cars in the most dull way one can imagine (like "There are studies on this online; you just have to look for them"). All of this is topped off with a dash of conspiracy theory, gas propaganda and fake facts, served up in a tin foil hat.

Originally, I was going to give a positive review - while the game is fairly simple and the "storytelling" only happens through some (weird) cutscenes, there was a certain zen to it. The characters were somewhat charming. But there is few things I find as impossible to forgive as adding full mechanics AFTER 1.0 release - specifically ones that change how the gameplay feels. The Last Gas Station takes place in a quaint, hidden town deep in a mountain range, and is one of the few actual gas stations in the world. With no idea what happened to the previous…

honestly, before i bought this game, i wasnt sure i would like it coz i was afraid it would be boring, even tho being a shopkeeper was my dream when i was little hehe but it turns out this game is VERY fun! this game is indeed repetitive, but there are a lot of buying and selling activities, from filling gas-washing cars-filling oil and others. There is even a mini game that I like, fishing! :3 one thing, i dont like bout this game, the shelves for displays cannot be rotated and the…

If you are playing this, oh boy, it's a grind fest. Everything great about this game can be experience in the demo. Right after where you left of in the demo, that's where it doesn't feel much cozy anymore, not that it got scary, it is just boring and grindy. When the seratonin and adrenalin hit, you are still happy to grind. But the more that you do, the more empty you feel. At some point I questioned if they rushed the game? did they fire or change the writer? The 2 areas we get to enter…

I am so happy the devs did a co-op update because that made it an instant buy for me!! Me and my partner binged through the whole game in a couple of days and I enjoyed my time so so much! I loved the quirky characters and the little story that unfolds as you manage your gas station! My favorite part is obviously learning about the mysteries and selling items related to them and decorating your gas station! I want moreeeee games like this ♥ It was also nice to be able to get all the ending…

Heya folks, here's a 3rd set of screenshots featuring The Last Gas Station. I'm a little over 3h into the game now, and it continues to be quite enjoyable. Not sure how long the game is, but I have a feeling I've got a while to go yet. #thelastgasstation #videogames #indiegames #screenshots

I quickly fell in love with this game. Perfect for someone who likes completing tasks without the overhead stress of a time limit. Plenty of upgrades and fun products to sell at your store, fun mini games, and great local lore to get lost in. You can play at your own pace or rush around if you feel like it. Would recommend this game to any cozy game fan.

I'm absolutely obsessed with the art style. That pixel art is just my favorite. It was super fun to play. The gameplay loop is really addicting and you just want to keep going to see what's meant to happen next. My few issues with the game include the bugged endings, where if your points are a bit too high it becomes really difficult to getting all the endings for the achievement (that's why one of them has such a low percentage). I also found that the game is a *tiny bit* too spooky for a…

This is not a terrible little game, but I can't generally recommend it. They had a good idea here, the vibes are cool and the art is nice. The first few hours of the game are great, but then the problems start to become clear. The core gameplay loop is too empty, too repetitive, the interactions not interesting enough and not going anywhere and it just becomes a grind. A few balance patches helped a bit to get the grind slightly more under control, but the game just misses some 'juice' and…

! Gameplay loop related spoiler ahead ! I picked this up as soon as it became available because I really enjoyed the demo, which I played for over 6 hours. Unfortunately, I ended up liking the demo much more than the full game. I expected it to be something I could casually dip into, play a few in game days, and relax. However, automation is introduced quite early, around day 20, and by about day 50, full automation is already possible. I genuinely enjoyed the mini games and found them…

There is a bug where the PC used to buy gas and items does not display anything when I open it. The only way to fix it is to reload the game. This issue occurs repeatedly and is very frustrating.
