He was correct about an ancient civilization in the Amazon but died and needlessly took his son with him to prove it. He's fun, but the movie should focus on Henry Costin, his partner who did every cool thing Fawcett did except die.

Bullock went on about memories and friends, then Radcliffe was like "I was gonna say Weird Al's accordion", and she said "nevermind, that"

negative · AI labelView post →one of my favorite recent movie examples is THE LOST CITY with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum; it's 100% paint-by-numbers, and so *marvelously* written/constructed, I love it so much. it's not breaking new ground, but oh, what a glorious retread.
positive · AI labelView post →I still maintain that The Adventures of Tintin is still the third or fourth best Indiana Jones movie, and that includes Indiana Jones, National Treasure, Romancing the Stones, Uncharted, Jumanji, Tomb Raider, and The Lost City. But to be fair, Hidalgo should also be in this list. Hidalgo rules.

I don't think anyone is enjoying it more than my husband. 😆 He keeps laughing and remarking how he would have watched it sooner if he'd known how good it was at the fish-out-of-water stuff. Love ending the weekend on a high note!

A third film titled ‘Allan Quatermain And The Jewel Of The East’ was planned but ultimately cancelled due to the low box office returns of the first two installments. (IMDB) 🖤

Also, like Michael Caine whose birthday he shares I’ve seen Carrott’s entire filmography. Easier in this case as he was only in one film, Jane and the Lost City. It’s shit.

neutral · AI labelView post →I’m watching The Lost City on Netflix and it’s basically spy kids for grownups meets Sandra Bullock 00’s comedies and yes it’s corny and streaming quality but it’s also FUN. Also the cast is so absurd for a film like this. In other words if you need a not depressing distraction I highly recommend.
positive · AI labelView post →I enjoyed The Lost City. A very silly movie with very good performances that had a lot more of something like Romancing The Stone in its DNA than modern movies are permitted.

positive · AI labelView post →Considering that Sandra Bulloch and Channing Tatum’s THE LOST CITY was desperately trying to recapture the vibe of ROMANCING THE STONE, I’d say that 40-year-old film has hung around better than most. I still think of “Joan Wilder? THE Joan Wilder??” a lot 😃
