He was correct about an ancient civilization in the Amazon but died and needlessly took his son with him to prove it. He's fun, but the movie should focus on Henry Costin, his partner who did every cool thing Fawcett did except die.

I also like The Lost City of Z, and, of course, Werner Herzog's Fitzcarraldo and Aguirre, the Wrath of God. All great #movies. #Filmsky #Moviesky 📽️

neutral · AI labelView post →I don’t even like James Gray very much, but I thought a lot about The Lost City of Z as another movie about the futility of a search for personal transcendence and making one’s mark. One that I think feels more emotionally coherent even if it’s less impressive in its scope.
positive · AI labelView post →I don't know about the movie, but The Lost City of Z is a fun read that also left me feeling like my expeditions into the Amazon are probably behind me.

negative · AI labelView post →I hope people go see this film when it comes out. Adam Driver deserves a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination. PAPER TIGER is Gray’s best film since THE LOST CITY OF Z, and ranks high with his other best films, LITTLE ODESSA, THE IMMIGRANT and TWO LOVERS.

neutral · AI labelView post →The Yards would be my pick as THE most underrated film I've seen. Also, like Two Lovers, Little Odessa, Ad Astra. Was mesmerised also by the Lost City of Z. Can't think of another director who can shoot in ordinary domestic interiors and make it so beautiful.
positive · AI labelView post →21. “The Lost City Of Z” has some world-class verdancy. Absolutely beautiful and lush greens all the way up and down that movie. One of the greenest things I’ve ever seen, up there with the fairy glens in the Isle of Skye and the malachite room in the Grand Trianon.

Whoever wrote that needs to read more - it's an interesting book, and very well-written, but there's nothing thrilling about it. #booksy
neutral · AI labelView post →Rewatched the Lost City of Z and I feel like James Gray is a pretty underrated director. Just a great film about 20th century modernity, masculinity, obsession and empire. Great Robert Pattinson performance.

neutral · AI labelView post →Realistic account of exploring the deep regions of Amazonia In the early 20th century, Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam) travels to the Amazon basin to survey the border of Bolivia and Brazil. He discovers evidence of an ancient jungle civilization and becomes obsessed with discovering the truth. Robert Pattinson plays his associate and Angus Macfadyen a member of one of the expeditions. Sienna Miller is on hand as Fawcett’s wife back in England. "The Lost City of Z" (2016) is based on the…
positive · AI labelView post →End of the movie you just kind of stare at the screen and ask "What the H did I just watch?!?" It is loooooong and just keeps going and going and going. No big movements to get the plot line going any faster and just when you think it's wrapping up it keeps dragging itself a long. The story is great, no doubt about that, but the way the movie potrays every single little detail was way way way too much. It's over 2 hours long and in the end we find out Spoiler It's all just speculation of what…
negative · AI labelView post →He wasn't the first, but came close to let the world know his founds. I don't know what were the people expecting from it, another 'Indian Jones'? Booby traps, man eating ants, ancient alien ship et cetera? Well, I agree it was slow and boring in parts, but most importantly, it was only revealed the true story. Not all the biopics are delightful entertainer. Originally this tale took place for three decades, but what you saw on the screen was merely a highlight. All about the adventures. The…
positive · AI labelView post →Let it not be said that The Lost City of Z doesn't attempt something large. Let also not be said that I was entertained for more than a couple of seconds at a time throughout the whole damn thing. Final rating:★★ - Had some things that appeal to me, but a poor finished product.
negative · AI labelView post →I know that I went to see #TheLostCityofZ expecting something between #Aguirre and #IndianaJones... yap, I can bundle those two movies as past of my list of favs :) After seeing the movie, arghhhh what a fantastic source material, what a waste of movie :/
