Did I like this game? Kinda. Do I recommend this game? No. First, the good things: The soundtrack and the visuals are beautiful. They really bring the world to life. However, the bad things: The puzzles are mind-numbingly simple. You usually have 2 or 3 things you can try, and thats it. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect every timeloop game to have a Hitman-like sandbox, but it's very barebones on the gameplay side …

The most sexy thing about this game is the devs’ minds, because boy, is this game walking, swaying, winking, flirtatious eye-candy. This is why we need more people with a theatrical artistic streak making games, because the whole thing just performs. The most important principle, in my opinion, when it comes to artistic productions, is that the whole must be greater than the sum of its parts. Every piece, no matter …

60 of 303 · most liked firstAny recommendations for time loop games?. I really enjoy time loop games where the player can explore and there's a story, and isn't just a puzzle game. I played Outer Wilds a few years ago and I loved everything about it, it's my favorite in the genre. Ones I've played and liked / have on my list to play that look good: - **Outer Wilds** - (I still need to play the DLC) - **Deathloop** - **Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask** - **Undertale**? - **The Sexy Brutale** - **Zero Escape** series (on…

positive · AI labelView post →Man, what happened? This game had insane potential to be an all timer but instead it's just... Okay. And that's very disappointing. Concept wise, The Sexy Brutale is an absolute banger: solving a murder mystery in a time loop in a huge mention by listening in on conversations? Sign me the hell up. Unfortunately the execution falls COMPLETELY flat. Admittedly, I am a very experienced puzzle/mystery game player, but even for someone who's new to the genre... I just don't see how the actual…

You're trapped in a mansion where the staff are secretly assassinating the party guests, and you have to save them all while not being spotted by any of them.

It inspired me to go buy the game and play it for myself. When I got to the end of the game, I was heartbroken. It was beautiful and fun and amazing to play and I wish I had a hundred more hours of game to play. It deserves all the love. I am so happy I was led to it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game doesn’t deserve the sexual content tag. It’s got a couple of statues with their boobs out. The game was absolutely fantastic, it was brilliantly designed, consistently entertaining, engaging storytelling. The puzzles were well designed; they weren’t too obvious but were never so hard I got frustrated or turned to google. The story is compelling and thought provoking. One of the best games I have played in a while.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A huge disappointment. The ending renders the entire game world meaningless. After completing the game, I didn't even feel like finding all the collectibles. The puzzles are simple, and when their complexity increases slightly, the game goes on a rails leading to the ending. The entire game world is a several-minute loop. At first, it seems like our task will be to save everyone at once, but the kills are divided into independent sections. At first, I had fun and fell in love with the world…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel like the theme of "The hero being disappointed with the reality of their mission" has good ways of executing that are hard-hitting rather than just dismal. Spec Ops: The Line, The Fall, Papo & Yo, and The Sexy Brutale were all great iterations of this, building up to harsh late-game revelations.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately found this unplayable in 2026 on Linux/steamdeck. Game would freeze on a white screen during the intro/tutorial level. Read some forum threads that changing the proton version to 8 would help; it didn't. Found another thread that talked about adding some wineoptions to the launcher, which finally let me get past the white screen freezing in the tutorial. But on the next level game effectively froze twice as the framerate dropped zero -- had to press the hardware reset button on my…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Completed the game in 4 hours. Found the puzzles far too easy, but figured there would be a grander puzzle at the end. It never came. The story was.. ok. Nothing revelatory or affecting. Get on sale for a fun little experience, but keep your expectations low.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The “right place right time” aspect sounds very The Sexy Brutale, an incredible game that is underdiscussed because people reasonably assume from the name that it’s some kind of kink thing (it’s not). Btw it’s on sale for $6, play The Sexy Brutale everyone.
positive · AI labelView post →Appears to be: Stylish cynical decadent detective pastiche. Turns out to be: A wholesome experience where you get to thanklessly save others in real time without ever letting them know it was you. Given your outfit and complicated relationship with clocks, I have reason to believe you're playing as the Bachelor from Pathologic. Actually, having said that, I would probably like to retract my 'wholesome' point, please.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Sexy Brutale 100% across multiple platforms We adore this game to bits The staff of The Sexy Brutale casino mansion are murdering guests one by one and you have to repeat the events of the day over and over, undoing each death to gain abilities to progress and discover what went wrong.
positive · AI labelView post →This game has a very interesting premise and a great art style, but fails as a puzzle or mystery game. This game is more or less a simple linear adventure story. The puzzles boil down to 'In which of the 3 rooms is the mcguffin'. It is very obvious where every item gets used and they are not even truly hidden. The time loop mechanic is very disappointing and there is never any need to backtrack to prior areas to use the knowledge learned later in the game. There is also no way to fast forward…

positive · AI labelView post →The Sexy Brutale was always sold to me as "one of the best time loop games of all time" and I genuinely do not understand the hype. Like, it's not a bad game, but having played it, I found it incredibly... underwhelming? Maybe I should have played it closer to when it was originally released, before we had games like Outer Wilds, Grunn or Unheard. The Sexy Brutale is a casino with all sorts of other wings and parts to the house, where in one day all guests of the house are murdered over the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey Zelda fans! Did you like Majora's Mask? Buy this and avoid guides. The rest of you? This is a great and... nearly... unqiue take on the metroidvania formula (see above)! It's an environmental puzzle game that you solve piece by piece and gaining powers that allow you to unlock more areas. I truly enjoyed it! A great distraction for a weekend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's just no game here! You're restricted to a small sub-area of a large house, with a single "puzzle" to solve. Solving it means interacting with the one object in your area that allows interaction using the latest skill or object you acquired. Congratulations! On to the next area. Rinse, repeat five times and you're done. The only reasons the game takes as long to play as it does it are the awful controls and incredibly slow walk speed of the main character. Dreadful, boring,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jolly good fun! When a game can both entertain you with puzzles AND story, its damn impressive. Easy to pick up and the time looping isn't frustrating. I felt like there was a great balance of assistance and just letting me figure it out. Post game achievement hunting was minimal and still fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GREAT DIGITAL STEAM SALE GAMES $5 AND UNDER 1. neutral · AI labelView post →The Sexy Brutale is a fun Groundhog Day puzzle game set in a casino where you must sneak around to prevent the staff from murdering the guests. The story seems insignificant but becomes astounding towards the end. It’s currently $5. Currently $4. Homebody is…

positive · AI labelView post →Did you try time-loop games yet? Outer Wilds is fantastic. Majora's Mask, The Forgotten City and The Sexy Brutale are also pretty cool.
neutral · AI labelView post →The game is extremely stylish and has a fantastic premise. That's about it for its positives. If you're looking for a time loop mystery game, this is NOT it. Each mystery is solved rather easily, they're isolated from each other, and there's no bigger picture or large mansion exploration. I checked out The Sexy Brutale because I saw it was recommended for people looking for something to scratch the itch and fill the void left by Outer Wilds, but in the end, it was disappointing. The premise…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was interested in this game, but I couldn't handle playing it for long because of the controls, there are three things wrong with them: 1. You cannot rebind any controls 2. One of the keys uses F1 of all things which is incredibly awkward and difficult 3. and the most egregious of all on at least a ps4/ps5 controller THE CONTROLS ARE NOT LISTED CORRECTLY instead of X it's square, instead on square it's circle, instead of circle it's X, instead of R2 it's LEFT ON THE RIGHT STICK, instead of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a puzzle game, it's unengaging. You have so few options that each puzzle's solution just feels like you did the one thing the game let you in that moment. As a mystery, it's uninteresting. There aren't any suspenseful questions that stay open, or hints to speculate on the basis of. There are murders that you find out about when you see them happen and contain no mystery, and there's an overarching plot that you very obviously cannot guess, and are not made to want to guess, until the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Sexy Brutale is basically a puzzle game built around a time loop. Your task is to prevent the deaths of certain characters by manipulating the environment — for example, swapping out a real bullet for a fake one. The entire game takes place in a single mansion over the course of one day. You are free to restart the day as many times as you like until you figure out the way forward. At the start, you know neither the house’s layout nor the characters’ movements throughout the place. So the…

In those opening minutes, the aesthetic jump struck me as something like going from Persona 5 to Persona 5 Tactica, and making the same connection between BioShock and The Sexy Brutale amused me enough to occasionally pull my attention away from the game itself. Of course, the resemblance never went quite that far. Had we…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely ADORED this game, and its mechanics. I found The Sexy Brutale extremely stylish, fun, and fascinating. The lore within this game is INSANE, I'm the type of person who tends to try to skip over reading anything unnecessary but with the mystery of this game, it drove me to investigate and question everything I found. Some things were necessary for progression, and some were just for flavor and deepening your understand of the place but I enjoyed all of the information they gave me.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thoroughly enjoyed this game. I must admit, the puzzles left a little to be desired, as sometimes it was overly-simple to solve a murder, and some abilities felt underutilized, but I also recognize that puzzles are incredibly difficult to construct in a narrative like this. The time loop can make the game drag a bit, but I felt for the most part I could spend the time either looking for collectibles, reading on the lore and secrets provided in the game, or looking at bits of dialogue that I…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An interesting exploration of the time loop idea but it's quite simplistic in the puzzles and requires you to do things in a specific way so there is very little freedom. The ending is also quite disappointing and the game has some bugs so I don't recommend it unless it's on a super deep sale. If you do buy it make sure you install it and launch it to ensure it actually runs!
