If you are just looking for the experience this game brings. play the og version of the game which is free to download. The version here on steam is just an graphics enhanced version that if you know what you are doing/figure out the puzzles quickly can be beaten within 2 hours. I do not believe this game should be 15 dollars

This game kickstarted my love for horror and rpgmakers as a little kid, and it is still my favorite game ever, even after so much time has passed. It's the king of rpg makers and i won't take anything else for an answer. If you do enjoy it, consider reading the manga, it's a prequel that won't take too long to finish. I wish fummy had other projects to fill in the void left by this game in my heart, as even after …

I'm so angry this damn game has no achievements to prove what I've done in this game. Anyway made me squeal like a little ♥♥♥♥♥ years ago, unsettling as hell! Amazing classic to get into RPG Horrors, one of my all time faves and I'll recommend it forever! The setting and sound design is good, it makes you uneasy! Such a good and effective story too, and feels even clearer and twisted upon other playthroughs after …

A short but iconic title in the realm of "RPGMaker Style" pixel horror, The Witch's House is one that will stay in your mind for years to come. Put simply, this game is dark and brutal, but while it's trial and error style might seem unforgiving, it is by no means difficult and I strongly recommend giving it a go for those who are on the fence! While the game itself is quite short, don't let that put you off the …

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome story, incredible atmosphere and the plot twist killed me inside. You can finish the entire game in an evening. Can recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed the game itself but as nice as the upgraded graphics are, the RPG maker remake does not justify the $15 price at all especially given how short the game is. As another review suggested, if you want to enjoy the game it's better to just play the original for a dollar imo

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good, short indie classic, but not worth $15. I got this game on sale, and I'd recommend you do the same. It's simply way too short to justify that price tag. Still, the puzzles and vibes were better than Ib, but I'd say Ib was more worth it's normal price compared to this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great little treat of a game. It's incredibly short (it'll take you maybe two hours at the most), but very much an rpgmaker horror classic. Definitely not worth $15 for the remaster alone though, so don't buy it on steam (unless it goes on sale for free again).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As good now as it was way back then.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →classic rpgmaker horror title. Holds up extremely well and has one of the most evocative twists I've ever seen in a game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →amazing. got all the endings and played again in one night. gifted to me by a friend and i would recommend this to anyone getting into rpg maker horror games overall! <3

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alongside with Ao Oni, this game is one of the best RPG Maker Horror Games I know. This game has such a beautiful story, and always makes me cry when I see the true ending. I love how the environment behaves. Love the musics and the art style. Gameplay is great. Everything about this game is good and beautiful. I even read the Manga, never realized how Ellen suffered in her life, this makes me very sad, but I can't help but love the story. I love this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Witch’s House MV is a masterful example of how a classic indie horror game can be modernized without losing the qualities that made it memorable in the first place. Developed by Fummy and published by DANGEN Entertainment, this remake revisits a beloved RPG Maker horror title and enhances it with updated visuals, additional content, and quality-of-life improvements while preserving the chilling atmosphere and narrative impact of the original. What begins as the story of a young girl named…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →once you play the witch's house you'll never want to stop beating 7 year olds to death with your bare hands
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a review written from my heart, so of course it’s going to be based on my personal feelings~ 💜 The Witch's House, a Masterpiece and a Classic RPG Maker, what more can I say that hasn’t already been said? I’ll start with the visual art: it’s beautiful and expressive. In terms of quality, it’s easily one if not the best RPG Maker game. The attention to detail is incredible, every item has a description, often narrated like a novel (which makes sense, since the creator, fummy, also wrote…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Troll impossible quiz but awesome 100/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember playing this during the 2010s RPG Maker craze and liking it. I did not remember anything at all, and after watching my friend playthrough it in 2025 it reminded me how special these little games were. There's so many creative ideas and just generally fun game design moments, but most of all, the story, while extremely simple is also really unforgettable. Amazing game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The true ending broke my heart into pieces
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Classic Rpg-Maker horror game (remade). U need to play this if you love RPG-Maker games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh, the ending hit hard. Too hard. Now I'm depressed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Every bit as enchanting, beautiful and mysterious as I remember during 2012. The plot twists are still quite interesting as well
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short but sweet. If you can call it sweet.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know what this game is supposed to be. From where I stand, it feels like a series of stages where you have to guess the next random action to take in order to progress. There is a story that seems to present itself as a "mystery," but after reading a few hints, it becomes clear that there are only a handful of possible plots. I’m just waiting for a "twist" like "you killed your parents," "you were the witch all along," "the other girl is you," or variations of these basic themes. You…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game 10/10!! The rumors I heard of there being an amazing plot twist were ABSOLUTLY TRUE!! Only problem I have is the extra mode ending chase which was so incredibly difficult I was on the verge of breaking my laptop.. But I still beat it so It's manageable!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a really good game. I finished it on a boring night thinking it wouldn't be as memorable. I guess it shut me up with its blatant plot twist. I hope to play the rest of the endings soon. I must admit that at first, I thought the game had some combat. The puzzles make you think a lot at some points in the story. If you're not used to it, you'll die a lot, but that's part of the fun HAHA. Although I wish it had been longer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my all-time favorite rpgmaker horror games growing up, and this remake does not disappoint. There's even a hard mode with added deaths, which I loved!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the ending gave me depression .

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this game and I would recommend it to anyone! So creative and very creepy. The only thing is I wish there were achievements and maybe an alternative to the frog scenario :') although I understand why it's in there. Amazing job on this!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(reposting my review from another site) I played to remastered version but I'll just say I played this version as well, because they're nearly as the same but with additional modes and an overhaul on the visuals It's been quite some time since I played this game since I played og back in 2016? Which I was very young at the time, but I was kind of used to horror at that point but ofc got scared often. But it's a really cute game that has a lot of charming puzzles and great atmosphere. And for…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not a fan of the unavoidable deaths
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →just download the original game for free and get the exact same experience (without wasting 15 bucks)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I adore this game. The art is gorgeous, the audio is fantastic, the music is beautiful, the controls are good, and the environment is very immersive. My only issue is that if you are playing on a newer M chip Macintosh, then you may run into problems. Crashes upon booting the game and the screen going black after clicking "Continue" from the main menu. Other than that, I would highly recommend this game to anyone who loves classic gothic horror.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7. The Witch's House MV (2018, Fummy) <Camellia> played the original, but somehow never got around to playing the remake until now god, Ellen sucks so badly (laudatory)
positive · AI labelView post →cute&chill little game, love it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I haven't played many RPG Maker horror games, but this one was pretty good. The soundtrack was fantastic, none of the puzzles were too hard, and the last few areas were really really good. Short, engaging, and absolutely vile.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had been meenimg to play this for a wile, it was good but not great, it was something I was able to play in a single day I enjoyed the story telling and there were a few times I got spooked. I would say if you want a decent but short game get this during a sale it was fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a Christmas game. But also never claimed to be a Christmas game, so um, thumbs up
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game loved the ending. i can fix her
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're a fan of these top down anime horror games, this one is great! Puzzles were a pretty good challenge, scares were fun, and plot is interesting! Nostalgic for this era of games that were popular in the 2000s.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun enough game if you're into RPG maker horror, but unfortunately the short playtime does make it a hard sell given the price-tag. If you like the style of game and you can get it at 75% + discount it may be worth picking up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, what a game ... certainly deserved to be one of the most well known RPG Maker Horror Games out there! Getting the True Ending for the first time gives you such a terrifying realization of what just happened - speechless and impressed was I. The puzzles were well made and the few scares the game has were on point - scared the ♥♥♥♥ out of me ;-; I adored the story as well - I will be buying the 2 Manga Volumes to see more of it. Game is quite short, but that's no negative: First playthrough…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only game where I'd rather not unlock the true ending. I played the og version of this years and years ago in 2013, and this still stands up to the test of time. It's a quick little game with great puzzles and a great storyline that you pick up on through diary entries and newspaper clippings (plus, there's a novel called The Diary of Ellen if you want further lore, which also has a manga adaptation). Please don't let the RPG Maker visual style put you off this game, it still is one of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game actually broke me
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great entry for horror rpgs pretty short also (2hours) The remaster is nice and i really like the atmosphere i also loved every sudden death i had :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great little game with a good atmosphere and story. It's short though, and you'll probably get through it in two to three hours. I don't think that's a problem personally, and it's nice to play something short and focused for a change. But that does mean you'll probably want to get it when it's on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually love this game so much, the only thing I'd say is a minus is that I wish it could be a bit longer. I love the style so much and it's so creepy at times. It's an older game but so unique in it's genre, I deff recommend!! I lowk was screaming like crazy at the ending chase sequence </3 but overall I actually love how creepy (and kinda cute) the game is!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the main game is good, however. the ? mode is extremely unfair and stupid there was no need for this mode. It did scare me more them normal mode
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely fantastic experience. It's amazing how much the creator was able to use the RPG Maker engine to convey horror in such an effective way. You'll be tip-toeing your way through the house, making sure to watch your step, but even if you fail it's usually in a way where you will realize "Oh that was not a smart decision". There are two main endings, and it feels a little arbitrary in how you get them, but the True ending is a doozy if you manage to get it. Amazing story, and the horror…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yea, okay i have some things to say. First of all, who tf designed this game? Genuinely, ffs why do the puzzles make NO SENSE? I took an hour maybe even 2 on the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ painting. WHY ARE U PUTTING THE MUSIC SHEET ON A WALL WHERE WE CANT SEE THE PIXELS? ALSO. Story? Why is viola going to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ witches house? Where are her parents. Seriously just asking. also, why did we have the frog? Just to kill him right after? Also the unnecessary jumpscares with the sound. Gee ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ golly. You…
