Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 266 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (826 of 1,273 positive).
Players are split on Thick As Thieves, with many praising its low price and core stealth gameplay. [1][2][3] Some reviewers criticize the game as a hollow shell of its original PvPvE concept. [4][5][6] Common complaints include a lack of content, missing options, and a time limit that hinders exploration. [7][8][9]

Why does this game have a time limit? It's supposed to be stealth, a genre that's notoriously slow paced and methodical. Rushing through these levels doesn't feel good, and it's very hard to get immersed in the world if I don't feel like I have time to take in the environments or read the notes that are scattered around. If you're going to put a time limit on these giant levels, could you at least implement a save …

These are obviously the butchered leftovers of a cancelled live service game, sold cheap to at least recoup some cost. Whatever might have been the original intent, as it stands this game attempts to wring an absurd amount of playtime out of its only two (2) missions, which you're expected to keep replaying in order to gain access to the rest of its scant contents, such as one additional character, a couple of …

My goodness the current state of Steam gaming is depressing. You have a $5 game from Warren Spector who is an industry legend behind some of the most iconic games ever and you have steam users flooding negative recomendations because.... wait for it..... you can't rebind controls or adjust FOV. And that ladies and gentlemen sums up gaming and gamers in 2026 and sums up the problem with steam. Sure it would be nice …

If you like stealth, get this game. It runs smoothly, feels super polished, and plays exactly like Thief and Dishonored. I'm having a blast. It’s a bit short on content, but for $5, it’s easily the best five-dollar game I’ve ever played.

ITS $5 PEOPLE FOR F's SAKE shut up!!!! The game itself is a GOOD game though yes it is short, its cheaper than a cup of coffee and will get you at least 4 hrs of fun if not even more with a friend as it's co op! The Two maps does get old and YES it should have been advertised as EA... but again... ITS FIVE DOLLARS Would I have liked to see more maps sure... but these people downvoting are just terrible human …

51% of the 266 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Thick As Thieves. The complaint that keeps coming up: very limited content with only two maps. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far first impressions are good with good map design and mechanics (I like how the grappling hook has to be cranked to use it again so you can't abuse it). I think the time limit is a little strict when it comes to the starter difficulties (you unlock more by playing more). Maybe have a longer timer on Novice then shorten it with higher difficulties? Otherwise moving guard bodies would be nice and... that's all my notes from the short time. Also the controls can't be rebinded (I'm sure…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After following the games development and watching the devs give insight for their decisions; it confuses me that the current product lacks the labor of love it deserves. The movement is sluggish, world is bland, and the gameplay feels trivial. I can't recommend even if the game was less than the current $5.00 as there are other stealth games that are more worth your time. Gameplay You can feel the corpse of the former PVPVE version throughout the game. Why can I relock cabinets and turn on…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For 5 bucks this is a pretty good starting out point for this game. I hope it gets more support over time but from the first mission I've played with a friend we had a great time. The weird part is this game is missing a lot of options? Like theres no brightness settings, fov, key rebinding. So maybe wait until they patch that stuff in but otherwise I'd recommend it for 5 bucks hell yeah.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Warren Spector didn't like how little he could fight back in Thief, so he made Deus Ex. Many years later, he now made a game were you actually can't fight back. Wow... Gone are the days when you would have a little introduction and then be released to explore what the game has to offer. Now, there is NO introduction, but instead you get a barrage of popups explaining the most basic things while your tutorial companion also explains it verbally in the background. So you get twice as much boring…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sad, but also his studio was struggling from the start. Their debut game, Underworld Ascendant, was in 2018 and notably one of the most busted immersive sims ever. Thick As Thieves was meant to be a PvP game but got re-worked as a PvE-only one literally weeks from release and sold episodically.
neutral · AI labelView post →I have been FOAMING at the mouth for this to release. The idea of a PvPvE stealth thieving game had me thoroughly tickled. I simped for this game the day it was announced. Especially with the dev roster. Was beyond stoked. Aaannnddd then it launched. You can tell this game is a shell of what it was designed to be. I have 6 hours into this game and have finished it. Are the bones good? Yeah sure. But the "variety" the devs are advertising is nearly non-existent. Between novice and master thief…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This should have been marked as an early access title from the beginning and now updates/new content have ceased. It is not a finished game and doesn't seem like it ever will be finished
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To clarify in advance, I am not one of the people who clamored for the PvPvE experience this game was originally marketed as. I did get interested when they changed its direction to singleplayer/co-op, but became skeptical once they confirmed the release date was only a month after the change when public (one to several months is not a lot of time in the world of game dev) and the price point. Now that the game is out, it's unfortunately really clear how much the game was initially tailored for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(This is not a recommended or not recommended review, since it’s still a long way down for Thick As Thieves to be considered good by most stealth fans, I’m just trying to share my end-game experience here.) It took me 8 hours to finish all available contracts in Thick As Thieves (let's call it an early access) and get enough XP to unlock Master Thief difficulty. I cleared two missions on Master Thief so far ([url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYzMOh3dEIk]10 minutes of my gameplay footage on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game that is a hollow shell of what it should have been Me and my girlfriend found out about this game through the usual "X coop games to play" instagram reels. At the time, the game was still marketed as a PvPvE experience and it quckly caught our attention. This is why we were really surprised to see that the release went under the radar, only to be even more surprised about the PvP part being dropped and the price being only 5 euros. Simply put, Thick as Thieves is a project that failed,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An extremely fun and unique take on the Stealth Genre, Great by yourself and with friends. (This review is of my time in early Access, will update to a review of full release once i've beaten the Campaign)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aesthetics fit the tone of the game, seems stable from what little I saw, but there are a couple aspects that really keep me from enjoying this. I grew up on Splinter Cell, stealth games are a favorite of mine. . .But this isn't. First, I really want to explore the environments, I want to reconnoiter the area and see what my options are before I commit to an approach. The time limit deters me from doing that, especially when combined with the slow sneak speed. I don't like either of these…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →By the time you unlock the second and final playable character, you'll be bored out of your mind and will no longer be eligible for a refund. The enemy AI is bad. The voice acting is WEYRI bad, YOOKNO? All guards express themselves by using the animation (singular) from Hello Neighbour, for some reason. There's only 2 maps, and everything in this game is walled out behind the mind numbing grind. Every bit of character customization (which you can't even preview before purchasing) in this game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The low review score isn’t down to the quality or length of the game, but to the marketing team’s ‘pump and dump’ strategy. It’s being promoted as a full-fledged game by two design icons, rather than a compact experience to while away an afternoon with. According to other reviews the team got downsized to less than 10 people — which I wouldn't doubt, given the current wave of mass layoffs in industry. If this is accurate, I love the concept of releasing a mini version of the games vision for 5…

neutral · AI labelView post →Only on Steam will you find people inclined to write a 5 paragraph essay on how they feel personally attacked by a $5 game. The game itself plays similar to Dishonored, big thumbs up. Maps are limited to two, but each mission has a different layout for some variety (previously used gates, pathways, or vents are now blocked). It's a cool little nod to the game seemingly reacting to previous break ins. Coop is fun and makes the game feel less punishing, but there's not much interplay between the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is insanely good for 5 euros. The only thing it desperately needs is more content — but considering the price, that should absolutely come as DLC. Give us 2–3 more maps, some actual endgame unlocks, and at least one more character, and this game goes from “hidden gem” to “why the hell is nobody talking about this?” But ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, some of these negative reviews are comedy gold. “45 minute mission timer is too stressful 😭” Brother, 45 minutes is enough time to loot every room, stare…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It appears that if you survive long enough in the gaming industry, you get fried. Get well soon, Warren. Beyond the obvious that this was initially announced as a PvP-focused game with environmental flair before being unceremoniously canned what remains is a barebones stealth experience. You crouch. You use a handful of laughably weakass gadgets such as a grapple-hook that struggles to launch you a single meter, and a smoke bomb that allows you effortless takedowns. These are your go-to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just realized this game isn't early access. If it was early access. . . I'd recommend. But without it, it just screams to be abandonware. Putting a pricetag on a scrapped project. The scraps are worth the price, I guess. . . but like you can tell it's half baked.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I always loved the idea of stealth games, but it didn't matter whether I was playing Dishonored, Styx, or even the original Thief—I always felt like something was missing. These games often lacked a sense of urgency and stakes that would drive me to make interesting, on-the-fly decisions. It was usually too easy to simply crouch in the shadows and slip past enemies at the right moment rather than take risks and interact with the environment in creative ways. Even when I made a mistake, I could…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First i want to say: for 5€ this game is no mistake. So if you are looking for a stealth-game on the cheap end, this is for you. On a personal note i am willing to spend more in order to get more out of a game and this is the part where "thick as thieves" really struggles to convince me it is worth my time. I love trying out new games and this one hardly felt new. Wanted to play with a friend. Finished Tutorial solo and the first mission has to be done solo too. 1 hour in, only now i could…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It feels like a project that was going to be scrapped, but in a last ditch effort something playable was put together and shoved out. It's super bland, has features that don't make any sense in a solo/co-op game, very little actual content and nothing particularly exciting in terms of new stealth gameplay features.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An incredibly enjoyable experience, especially at the £5 price point. The atmosphere and visual presentation are genuinely impressive, with a level of polish that makes the world feel immersive from start to finish. The guards are well-designed, engaging to interact with, and add a lot of personality and tension to the gameplay. My only real criticism is that I was left wanting more. The core gameplay loop is strong enough that a few additional levels, more environmental hazards, and some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are a lot of problems with this game at the moment. You can absolutely feel that this started life as a PvPvE game (one which I never would have touched), and many of the features don't make sense in its current solo and co-op only context. You can relock cabinets, doors, etc., but there's no reason to do so. You leave a footprint trail behind as you move, which is a cool visual, but doesn't actually matter to gameplay at all since there's no other players hunting you. Elements of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Couple weeks ago I would of recommended the game, but as of now? No. Development for it is dead, no further updates, meaning you are stuck with repeating the same 2 maps with the same objectives. Disappointing, but expected since there was so much silence on actual meaningful updates.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great demo for a game than never happened What this game should have been Initially the game was planned as PvPvE thieving Extraction ImSim, and that was a great and bold concept. Sadly, mere month before release someone from the high ups forced devs to gutter the game, forcefully reshaping it into a plain coop structure. And that could still work, if this decision wasn't made so late. Pre-release concept was a labor of passion, and you can see it in almost every detail: small systems,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What are your thoughts on Thick As Thieves, the new online multiplayer PvPvE stealth game from OtherSide?
neutral · AI labelView post →Needed far more time in development. Lack of basic graphics controls, keybinding support (although the latter is meant to be coming soon). There wasn't nearly enough to do on the maps, resulting in repeating heaps of side objectives over the course of the 16 missions. Just a couple more things other than having to get the gems and urns a bunch would have gone a long way. The worst part of the game was the fact that if you complete your side objective, an 8 minute timer starts forcing you to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For 5 bucks it's worth it for the tutorial alone. It's not a re-definition of the stealth genre or particularly deep in it's Immersive Sim aspects, but it works. The map and world is beautiful and carries some Dishonored charm. Co-op is also fun. We need more co-op in stealth games. I'm glad they moved away from the PvPvE aspect of the game, making it fully PvE instead, but I must admit I would've been curious to see how that original vision would've turned out. Hood: Outlaws & Legends was a…

neutral · AI labelView post →Most of the negative reviews are entirely correct about the size of the finished game. But for 5 euros it is worth it for a couple of days of fun with friends.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abandoned before it even had a chance to grow. Should've been early access with how unfinished it feels.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Here’s the gist of it: Thick As Thieves isn’t a terrible first-person stealth game, it’s just a very basic and very conventional one. Its mechanics work well enough, but they’re not exactly complex to begin with. In that regard, Thick As Thieves easily outclasses OtherSide’s previous offering, Underworld Ascendant. It’s functional, and that’s great! But it also does nothing to make itself stand out from other games using this very same first-person stealth formula, except by adding optional…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Promising Heist That Ends Too SoonThick As Thieves is a stealth game built around a compact set of gadgets. You unlock them gradually, and after about five hours I had every tool and the second character, the Chameleon. The gadgets themselves work well – each one opens up a slightly different approach, and the Chameleon's blending ability changes how you handle later runs. The game's biggest problem is its maps. There are only two. No matter how good the mechanics are, replaying the same two…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Could be an great game! problem it isnt yet.. I think the devs need to play some more Dishonored 1 and 2 to see wat made it great... 1. Timer has to go..its a stealth game give us the time really plan and take our time.. 2. Gamification of everything has to go... stealing is already fun, Thief showed that 3. Wat is up with the exit door? one of the great things of a good thief / dishonored game is planning your escape route 4. It feels like an empty multiplayer game(live service) halfway…

neutral · AI labelView post →Wait until full release, this game has great bones and a great atmosphere, but its suffering rn from extreme repetitiveness. If it gets some updates and some better loadouts, it would be much better!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thick As Thieves is, lack of basic settings at launch aside, a pretty featureless game. There is so little in terms of content here. You get only two levels that you play over and over. That's it. Two relatively small levels that don't change much on subsequent missions either. The Dishonored-esque aesthetic gets a brownie point from me. The stealth gameplay is pretty weak and easy to exploit. The AI is so dumb I was able to literally run circles around the guards and get behind them to choke…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was looking forward to the release of Thick as Thieves and became highly sceptical upon the announcement of the pivot. What has been released is unacceptable even for $6.95 AUD. I ended up refunding the game as there were no options present to reduce or turn off Motion Blur, and no options to alter Field of View; I ended up feeling unwell from the motion sickness. This was exacerbated by the lack of granularity within the options as a whole. Accessibility to games should be treated…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Here’s Warren Spector of OtherSide Entertainment to introduce a new multiplayer stealth action game unlike anything you’ve played before. This is a special sneak peek at THICK AS THIEVES!
neutral · AI labelView post →Hopefully this follows Hitman's publishing model, with the gameplay of old-school Thief. There are some good bones here, something to really build a modern-day Thief successor on. It's not as dark and moody as the old Thief games, but it's never pretended to be -- the stylized, Sea of Thieves/Dishonored-vibe art direction has been clear since the game was revealed. So much of the game feels like a throwback to retro stealth games, from the pathfinding, sticking to shadows, pickpocketing, guard…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It needs stuff like much better graphics options and key rebinding, but aside from these unfortunate tech issues, it's very fun to play and it shows potential. Don't go into it expecting the glory of the Thief days, but rather imagining how that could work in the co-op "friendslop" era for five bucks.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I write this not with malice, but pure disappointment. Thick as thieves was ultimately a pump and dump by the developers. The systems, ideas, and mechanics here showed genuine potential, and this is currently the biggest letdown for myself this year so far. With more maps, characters, tools, and mechanics to interact with, it could genuinely have been a great stealth co-op game. The world is creative and promising, the environments well designed, if not repetitive due to the unfinished and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly a really fun game for a few hours with great systems and art. It's not perfect, only two maps and repeat "collect 3 objects" objectives is tough and made me not really want to finish the full game but the bones are great, it's really good fun with a friend and for the price of a bag of chips you really cannot go wrong with picking it up!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recognize the game is only $5, but you only get early access level content. The key is that the dev's aren't obligated to add or update anything beyond launch. Obviously there are issues with mouse sensitivity and motion blur, as well as keybindings, but those seem like easy fixes. I honestly was more shocked about the lack of content. Like only two maps and two characters, and a few unlockable gadgets. IMO if you have a lighter game in terms of content, thats fine, but also don't lock it…

Saw they announced today that the current content is it and I didn't realize the two maps we played are all there is. Steer clear, this has been abandoned too early in the cycle to be a full product and will not be further developed and as of now the actual functionality is not 100% guaranteed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has so much potential but it's missing a lot of replay ability. If you're a fan of repeating pretty much the same thing over and over again, this game is perfect for you. However, if you need a bit of variety in your life I can't recommend the game in its current state. There's currently only two playable maps. Granted, you get different contracts and the increase in difficulty adds a bit of variation but you get bored of the sight of the same maps. TLDR: I do not recommend…
