Why Time on Frog Island is a barebone frustrating chore of a game: 1) You run around the Island slowly without fast travel options. 2) You have no inventory, you can hold only 1 item at a time. 3) There is no map of the island & the camera is fixed in one direction so being lost is a common problem. 4) There is a day/night cycle but for some reason daytime barely lasts 10 minutes while nighttime will last until you …

This game is terrible on so many levels. We often point to the indie game scene as a beacon of hope in the gaming landscape. While there are many great indie titles, there are also a lot of bad ones too that often seem to get a pass. Imagine a game without any QA testing before launch. Imagine a game without any story and barely coherent dialogue. Imagine a game without at least a basic mini-map, direction and …

Yes, BUT only if: 1) You're a hardcore puzzle/fetch quest games lover and appreciate a lil' challenge, or; 2) You're a cozy gamer that wants to try a cute lil' game AAAAAAND it's on sale Otherwise, it's a no. Great game. Mostly made this review so other people are aware. There is a THROWING mechanic. If you hold down the pickup button for a second or two you will throw the item your holding. Either I missed the memo or something but as far as I can tell the game doesn't tell you how to do this not even in the Controls menu either where you think something like this would be displayed. Note: The throwing mechanic isn't required to beat the game but is required to do the one of the achievements if…

This game had a combination of issues for me, even when it was on sale. Firstly, the game screenshots showed a completely different game, they showed concepts that were never introduced, they made the game seem like it had more content than it did, by showing only NPCs, despite 80% of the game being empty, along with this it's just full of cheap assets. Secondly, the game is too difficult, it's way too hard to know where you are going, because the island is huge and there is no map to look…

While being visual pleasing, Time on Frog Island is mostly composed of pain, annoyance and baffling design decisions. Trying to play this game has to be one of the most annoying experiences I've had in a long while. Here's the list of interactions avaliable to you in Time on Frog Island: 1. Pick up things and bring them somewhere else. 2. Run and jump. 3. Sleep at camps to begin the next day. As you can see, there just isn't that much to do. The way these interactions work makes them…

Do not pay £16 for this game. I completed the main quest in approx 40 mins. It's basically a fetch quest game with no story. Frog wants a feather. Feather is owned by another frog. Give him the item he wants in exchange for feather. That is the entire gameplay loop. There is no text, only pictures to show what the frogs want, and you can only carry one item at a time which is super frustrating, because it means walking back and forth a lot. There is no map to refer to, so much of the time…

I was very excited for this game but I came away very frustrated by my experience. This has: - no cloud saves - no quest log - no camera controls with a restrictive view - no map - repetitive scenery with little variety in geometry or palette - no inventory, carry one item at a time - moving quest markers, who knows where the quest giver has gone - a day night cycle that kicks you out of quests mid way The first PC I tried ran the game poorly. I then moved to a desktop PC which ran it okay. I…

One of the worst games I've played so far. No map, no compass, no quest markers, no quest log, only 1 autosave and no manual saving. Game-breaking bugs galore, even on console (just look at the trophy guides). Game takes 2-3 hours (if no quest breaks). The quests are exclusively fetch quests and since there is no inventory, you can only carry one item at a time. Most NPCs break completely and don't give you the quests you need. The merchant and the blacksmith like to break almost every…

Exploring the island, learning what you can do with objects in the environment and listening to the game's soundtrack, was genuinely fun for the first few hours. After that introduction, however, it was a test of patience to finish the game even while referencing several guides given by other users. In a game with so few points of interaction, I found several of the clues and objects to be shockingly misleading. Examples include: 1) The player never sees the artist frog without a hat, yet the…

I'm sorry but nothing about this game other than the art direction and maybe controls were well designed. The tasks are made very vague and the world is far too big with no form of map that I could find to make navigation easier. There's no sort of tutorial to familiarize yourself with the ideas of the game either, it pretty much just expects you to learn without communicating anything. Some quests are straightforward, but most aren't, and due to the large world you'll most likely get lost in…

This game leaves a very poor first impression. You're given very little guidance on how to navigate the island, and trying to keep track of the many objectives given to you without any in-game tools is overly cumbersome. Additionally, time passes incredibly quickly, forcing you to return to the starting campfire over and over to reset the routines of the frog villagers. I was hoping that this would be a relaxing fetch-quest game with some problem solving, but the amount effort expected of me…

Though fun and cute, the first playthrough may be a bit rough due to vague directions and a good helping of bugs, extra playthroughs are a bit better. Though they could be helped with more robust offerings post-game, recipe lists, recipes that actually have different effects, all of the ruins actually doing something, etc. Overall, still a solid recommendation if you're into quaint fetch-quest games.

After completing the short and sweet prologue chapter, I was wondering if the mechanics shown in it would translate well into the full, longer game, namely the imprecise jumping, fixed camera, and day-night cycle that forces you to get busy building a fire each night. Still, the demo was enticing enough for me to try the whole game. Well, no. Those mechanics do NOT work well in a game of this scope. The fire-building gets stale really quickly, the lack of direction (that some would probably…

Sadly disappointed with this game. I love the art-style and character design but the game doesn't feel fleshed out. Just fetch quests over and over again, stale game-play. Feel like dialogue could have added a lot. More puzzles or story would have been great. It has potential and I love the concept but it feels unfinished.

I thought I'd like this game as it's very casual, but turns out I'm not much of a fan of fetch quests and find them more tedious and boring. The island itself is a lot larger than I thought it would be and could use a map feature. I actually do like the requests asked in pictures of items rather than dialogue, but with no map it can be challenging to figure out where to go to track down the items you need. In my opinion, the days were far too short. 2. It also rained far too often for my taste, which is why I found the scenery uglier. 3. NOT FUN IN ANY SENSE. ITS SO TEDIOUS, I'M GENUINELY SO FRUSTRATED. Why is the map so big? Why are 90% of the items not used for anything? Why is there no map or quest tracking? Why do items fall through the map or disappear sometimes? There is no fun in this game, it's all fetch quest for items you probably haven't seen and possibly never will see. Initially, I liked the approach of this game: it demands you to experiment, explore, and figure things out as you go. This game would be a great casual combination of exploring, collecting, and platforming if it weren't for the bugs. Maybe it's rare but I'm not the only one who has multiple fetch quests that have bugged out and cannot be completed, leaving the last ~2 hours of play time an exercise in frustration and, ultimately, futility. I cannot honestly recommend it based on my (buggy) experience, which is a shame because if it had worked right I think it's a really fun indie gem.

This game was played on a family shared account, and this is the review made by that person. I loved the visuals of the game and it's mechanics, I felt like they they played really nice into each other making it feel easy to play and interacting with the world. You have a lot to explore and many of the items in the island are interactable and unlock many secret features. The game does seem cozy however it lacks the most important feature a game needs: Fun. It feels uncomplete, the game has…

its really not worth it... you need an insane amount of patience seeing that running around takes forever, and if you drown/fall off of something you have to start from the beginning again. when you want to end the day, you have to head all the way back to the beginning to sleep and start over again. the lack of dialogue can be really confusing at times, and the fact you can only carry one item at a time is *terrible*. if you find 2 items you need right next to each other, too bad! you can only…

have a love and hate relationship with this game honestly. i absolutely love the graphics and sound design, visually so pretty so pleasing yes but the gameplay? a bit meh, i find it annoying that it takes me so long to figure out what i need to do next because there's no text hint whatsoever to show you where to go, i loved exploring but besides doing errands for the inhabitants that is much it i'd still recommend it though! but would suggest getting it on sale

A great game for those who want to explore an adorable world with a sense of wonder. This title is primarily fetch quests with platforming and requires a bit of puzzle solving. The completion of the story takes about 2.5 hours and is a perfectly told story. There are some minor bugs from what I've read and times where the geometry is a bit awkward which can be a little frustrating. The small interactions with objects and the environment is heartwarming. After finishing your primary goal there…

I wanted to like it, I did. I like the prologue/demo which is basically the entire game but smaller. That works since you have a more limited space. This game wants you to grab an item and run all the way back and some items can break, some melt, some you drop when you fall and can be hard to find again. Also the day/night cycle is way too fast and everyone "goes inside" at night so you cant' do anything besides make camp and sleep.

I want to love this game, it looks cute, seems like a short one afternoon type of game, but 5 hours in and I've had to restart my game 5 times due to bugs. I've run into various bugs so far, but the three main ones I keep getting are: the merchant frog NPC doesn't spawn in (typically triggered by saving the tadpole dog too early, the cold drink is soft-locked when trying to give it to the green frog (tried all the known fixes), or the fruit doesn't grow back / farmer acts like there are crows…

5/10 This game really lacks dialogue. It's still decently fun but a lot of times I didn't know what to do because a frog wanted some rock and there's like 6 types of rocks that all look the same. Also getting around the island late game is too slow, I wish the effects of potions would stay after exiting the game. oh gosh the animations are adorable, worth it just for that. had a wonderful experience with this one, really enjoyed figuring out how to progress the quests in my own time.

It's a super cute little game with a-lot of heart and silliness to it. I enjoyed it but missed nearly everything because I struggled to actually finish many of the quests the game had. Sometimes I felt like I wasn't being given enough information from the frogs to figure it all out, but I'm not the brightest person.

Explore, collect, meet some frogs. There's a prologue demo that I'd highly recommend to get a sense of the game. The prologue demo is completely separate from the game, so play it even if you intend to purchase this. :P

The Time on Frog Island Prologue isn't a "Demo Page" as the system for separate pages for your demo didn't exist when we released it. My understanding of the Demo Page system is that all the wishlists and follows are routed back to the main game page. Best to read the Steam Docs to be sure though.
