neutral · AI labelView post →As usual for a 2K game, this one is filled with microtransactions. You can't even play career while offline because everything is tied to the in-game currency. Moreover, this game is not at all about tennis, is about hitting the correct timing on a bar. I can't understand who thought that players should focus on a green bar instead of looking at the court. Avoid this game. EDIT: Servers will shut down on 31.12.2026, so career will become unavailable to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun tennis game that performs great on the Steam Deck. However, in typical 2k fashion, mycareer simply requires you to open up your wallet just for your player to be able to hit a forehand over the net. The grind is unbelievably slow without your credit card. Also, always online requirements suck.

neutral · AI labelView post →TopSpin2k25 is the spiritual successor of the much beloved TopSpin 4. I say spiritual because there's very little inherited from the formula that made TopSpin 4 one of the greatest tennis games of all time in this new iteration. If you played the previous TS games, you'll likely notice that some of the character mechanics and player controls have come over. However, that's where the familiarity stops.. 2K looked at the almost perfect TopSpin 4 and basically said "How can we make as much money…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played this game a lot, and after career there's not much to do. The AI difficulty scaling is terrible. second you go from hard to very hard it becomes LITERALLY the most impossible thing to play, every shot is in the corner of the court and they can hit shots and serves ive literally never seen LOL. If this games up for like a five quid then sure get it, it's a good time killer if bored for half an hour etc, but if you want a realistic tennis game don't expect much from this
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Way too monetized. For offline play, why can't I edit my player's stats? Having to grind through hours of play with a created player that can barely hit a ball right on career mode is just terrible, especially when you have the option of paying for xp boosters. Gameplay is decent but it's basically a timing mini game where you're paying more attention to when the bar hits green than anything else going on. Not bad, but far from good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Movement is sluggish, buttons feel unresponsive, characters are incredibly ugly. 2K, aren't you owned by a multi-billion dollar company? What happened.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game could have been badass. it is not. Bring back the old Topspin mechanics. What the heck is this new timing BS. Seriously how do you mess this up? Just literally make old Topspin with new graphics and players. Are the devs at 2k BRAINDEAD?! Did literally ANY of them actually play the old Topspin games?! BROTHER!!!!!!! Very dissappointed
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why would I need internet connection to play a single player career mode? Then when the servers are shut down eventually you are locked out of 90% of the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a typical 2K sports game, every aspect of the career mode is unbalanced and unfair to make you buy their upgrades. DO NOT BUY.

The Bad (The Ultimate Dealbreakers): ❌ Held Hostage by a 2K Account: The game forces you to create and link a third-party 2K account just to clear the splash screen and reach the main menu. ❌ Always-Online DRM Kills…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game sucks! I know it's a skill issue and I, apparently, don't have any, but why can't I, at least, have the option to shut John McEnroe up?! Every time I fail to hit a lob shot in training and his voice pops up for the hundredth time to remind me of how much I suck, I want to punch my computer. If I fail to a Dark Souls boss for the 20th time, a repetitive and annoying voice doesn't pop up to remind me to release the button in the green. If I'm going to fail over and over again then, at…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish there was an option for NEUTRAL in reviews. No problems with the performance personally. The gameplay itself isn't THAT BAD, but it's very unbalanced and not so realistic. Power is the meta and it kinda makes it not play like real tennis. Coming from TopSpin4 (PS3), I think this game is NOT an upgrade. TopSpin4 was much more realistic and balanced in my opinion. Content wise... this is garbage. Scam. Full of microtransactions. Small roster, missing so many legends. How we…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, there is just not a lot of good Tennis games out there, but TopSpin 2k25 is one of the better ones. Its not perfect but at its core, the gameplay seems more realistic than other Tennis simulations I think career mode is super fun but wish they changed the progression system to week by week and not month by month. That way, you can play more than 1 tournament per month which falls in line with more real life. There are plenty of professionals that play Miami and Indian Wells in…

neutral · AI labelView post →Overpriced, 2K online only career. Servers soon to be offline, so most of the game will become unplayable. Not that it matters - shot timing is garbage, unpredictable and inconsistent making for frustrating at best gameplay. Avoid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →wish i could give a "meh" review between yes and no played virtua tennis growing up and i was looking to scratch that itch for the longest time. topspin mechanics and gameplay is solid - didn't get too deep into it but it felt satisfying enough. as a long time nba2k player, hitting a "green" will always be satisfying, and it feels equally as rewarding here however. greedy monetization and an extremely grindy career mode make the game generally unfun. it takes soooo long for your player…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I've gotten into Topspin 2k25 HEAVY, which is hilarious b/c I'm pretty certain there's only like 5 people actively playing this game nowadays lmao but it's such a fun tennis game

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing this garbage makes me miss Virtua Tennis horribly. And holy F!!!!!!!!! The leveling system in this game is brutal. Just release these games on mobile as a gacha. Why we paying for this BS?

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played this game enough time to tell you to not buy it. They don't even update it with content since a lot of month. You cannot play basic matches without internet connection. You block cheaters online and they keep allowing them to play. DON'T BUY IT.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The aiming and ball speed control is either bugged or the developers have made it so challenging that is not fun. I have asked for a refund after only playing it for a little more than 2 hours.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this expecting it to be better than Tiebreak, but it's not. The gameplay seems a tick slow but not awful; however, it is missing/charging for features that should be included. First, there is no way to sim parts of a match and jump in when you want. Tennis matches can go on a long time, it's vital that I can sim but jump in to save a set or finish it off. Instead, you can play very short matches but that's not the same. Second, you can't play a major at night, because they want to…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The most poorly designed game I've ever had the displeasure of purchasing. The game is never fun to play, since as other reviewers commented, it matches you up against players who are more skilled than you by leaps and bounds. So, what this game boils down to, is sitting there game after game, losing without being anything to do about it, with the hope that you gather enough points to up your skills.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →please update world tour online matchmaking... im a level 15 getting matched with level 30 players with max stats. its so stupid. no chance at all to win
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is solid, the career mode is good! But the online unfortunately has gained a lot of cheaters (as of October 2025) making the game unbearable even for solid players. I recommend it for the offline content and if you are lucky you may play against no cheaters in the online mode
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is sh**. I was hopeful as I got it on discount that it would rival other tennis games. But as it stands, this rip-off of TopSpin 4 doesn't even come close to that experience let alone other much better tennis games. The core gameplay's execution, playing tennis, is so sh** I could not put it into words. As a tennis fan, stay away from this game. As a video game fan, stay away from this game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TopSpin 2K25 on my opinion simply the best tennis game right now. I’ve played Tiebreak on PlayStation 5, but honestly, TopSpin 2K25 beats it in every way: better animations, better graphics, and better gameplay feel overall. Every swing and movement on the court just feels right. But the main strength of this game is online play. Once you finish the single-player career, playing against real opponents is what truly keeps you hooked. Matches load fast, and the competition can actually be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The premised of this game was really good whit a solid base, but not utilized its full potential. Personally i don't like the mentality and concept for the most part of the game. MICROTRANSACIONS are generally a bad things, not just for the meaning itself, but also because they take out meccanics that would enrich the game. The IA is unbalanced at low and higer levels. Game deeply American sided and is very sad to see it, SPORTS are one thing that should unite the people not dividing or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is simply too buggy to enjoy. I was mainly looking forward to playing MyCareer, but I got stuck because the AI would stop serving. Sometimes my own player would also become unable to serve, with the controls completely unresponsive no matter what keys I pressed. I tried looking for solutions and checking the community, but there doesn't seem to be a reliable fix for this issue. It's extremely frustrating because I bought this game intending to play it for a long time, but I can't…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having to grind to get your career mode character to a semi reasonable level is pure agony! Its like the game is forcing you to spend additional money jus tot have a reasonable basic character! Spending £10 on a game to then learn you have to spend £17,99 just to play the game is a con and should be a crime.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolute garbage. Forces me to connect to some stupid 2k account even though I don't play online. Starting the game takes ages because of unskippable, idiotic, crappy videos etc. The graphics are so ugly, am I playing a ps2 game?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I purchased this game to see if it held anything over my favorite current tennis game Tiebreak+, but unfortunately I asked for a refund after 2 hours which was enough to let me realize it had a bit more of flash on the introductions and animations, but it is severly limited in terms of actual gameplay. I guess they made the game so that it would be very easy to pick up but it ends up feeling empty and "arcadey". I'm sure in terms of simulation Tennis Elbow 4 is by far the best, but the severly…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game received almost no updates after a short period following release. Player selection is very limited, and the online experience is buggy. Unfortunately, it is still the only tennis game worth playing if you actually want to play tennis.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the few sports games where the CPU doesn't ruin your fun by being bad on your team. It just feels like pure skill and tactics. not a tennis fan by any means but as a fan of sports games this is a must buy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really don’t understand why TopSpin 2K25 has so many negative reviews on Steam. I love this game. The graphics look great and the gameplay feels very good. Forehand and backhand animations are almost perfect and feel very natural. The game also runs smoothly and is very well optimized. For me, this is a fun and solid tennis game and definitely worth playing.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I haven’t played for that long and maybe I’m missing something but it feels like a timing bar simulator. Constantly watching the bar waiting for it to hit the green zone is pretty immersion breaking and the gameplay is not how I remember topspin 1 all those years ago that I had so much fun with. Shame. I think it did have a bar back then too but there was more depth to it. Graphics are nice but so is their budget. Picked up tiebreak instead which is excellent and feels like tennis. Please…
