Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 63 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (111 of 123 positive).
Players praise the game's unique blend of typing and real-time strategy. [1][2][3] Some find the difficulty poorly balanced, with certain missions feeling impossible. [4][5][6] The game is widely recommended for improving typing skills while being fun. [7][8][9]

I liked the game, but can't recommend it, due to weird design decision. Some of the missions are locked with requiring "stars", as in beating previous levels on certain difficulty. I was already playing game on hard (3/5 diff), but the very last additional mission actually requires you to complete ~90% of the game on very hard (4/5). I got to the end and in order to unlock that mission, I'd have to replay almost …

I downloaded the game the second it was released and wanted to be the first to leave a review! This game introduced me to the "writing" genre. It's such a creative concept, and playing solo and in PvP is a blast. AND THE ART STYLE! Honestly, I didn't expect such high-quality artwork, voice acting, and animations from a small-scale game. It surprised me in every way. As soon as I finished the demo, I played it again …

OH. MY. GOODNESS. This game is SO GOOD. It is a rare game up there with TYPING OF THE DEAD, but a dream for strategists and tacticians! It is excellent for teaching typing as well as upping your typing game. My daughter plays and is getting better and better as I watch her . . . and is asking to play . . . and, as someone who types 8 hours a day at work, this game is much better than TotD at actually getting my …

6/10 - neat game, but a metric ton of potential thrown out the window. So, the core concept is as simple as it is fun; Gain resources, build units, go to war. The depth is on the level of a flash game, but that isn't meant as an insult, as flash games were fun as heck. And on that premise alone I recommend the game, although not for 20€/25$, so I'd wait for a sale. But here are the flaws, unfortunately quite a few …

Got the game free on a gleam.io giveaway. Thanks! Over the years i have played different typing games, like Epistory or The Textorcist just to name two. Touch Type Tale brings its own twist to the gameplay by mixing typing and strategy gameplay. You can play a solo campaign, skirmish agsinst story opponents. Even multiplayer with other humans is possible. To navigate your units you have to type the word above the …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game feels unfun to play. Typing skill seems to be kind of unimportant oddly enough, it's more about just frustratingly fighting with the mechanics of the game and doing the same task on every single level until it works. It's a slog, doesn't feel fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good educational game for practiceing and improving your typing skills! But at the beginning I overestimated myself. Maybe at the beginning one minigame to check the present skillset of the player rather than let him choose the difficulty. To optimize the learning curve. I mean who knows how good you are on a scale from 1-5?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Annoyingly difficult. The same procedure for most levels. Sometimes there is a checkpoint at the first building your create and sometimes there isn't. If you try it on harder difficulties, it is such a slog. If you don't, you can't unlock a level and 40% of the locked content. While I enjoyed the game enough to beat it, I have never been so frustrated.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like typing games and am always looking for new ones to see what the developers have thought up. I enjoyed the demo of this game and decided to buy it. I like the music and the art style. I think the story so far is pretty bad and predictable. I have not completed the game at the moment (I am in act/chapter IV or so) and I think that my journey will end there. I am disappointed in the full game. In my opinion a lot of later maps come down to a certain new mechanic on the map itself and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bar none the best typing strategy game ever made. my steam playtime does not reflect full playtime. Just buy it if you like typing games in any capacity.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a cute idea and fun, but the biggest problem I had was the enemy seemed not balanced at all. Some missions were straight up impossible no matter what I did. I type 70-75wpm so I didn't type slow. It was just impossible to make enough money and train units before you get overwhelmed by the enemy.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Of the thousands of games I played this is perhaps one of the most underrated games I've ever seen. After playing for a couple of hours and experiencing the production quality on display coupled with a unique spin on the genre, I expected this game to have 10 times the number of reviews (currently sitting at 44 reviews). So to anyone reading, I highly recommend trying out the demo if typing or strategy sounds remotely interesting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked a lot about this game. I bought it on sale after playing the demo (not included in my hours played here). Despite personally disliking the art direction (not for its lack of effort), I found the core game mechanic to be extremely compelling. The typing mechanics and sound design are super satisfying. I'm a 100wpm typer but a rookie RTStrategist, so I played on Normal (Difficulty options range Easy-Normal-Hard-Harder-Hardest) and found it a good challenge. Where this game fails:…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely the best typing game there is. The RTS aspect of it makes the gameplay really engaging. I feel like this is natural combinations of genre's and I'm surprised its never really been done before now. The campaign is also really well done and has a wide variety of level types. I always felt like there was something new and interesting going on.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The premise is strong, and the challenge remains engaging, particularly for those capable of typing at 80 wpm or above. However, the game’s biggest flaw is ironically tied to its originality. Using typing as a means to manage resources - be they military units, food, or gold - doesn’t always translate well when enemies can strike from every conceivable direction. In a traditional strategy title you’d simply deploy troops along each access point, but here? You type, naturally, yet the flow feels…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really hard to get into due to the controls. This is less of a typing tutor that tests your skills, but more like if someone took a strategy game and forced you to use a weird combination of keys to execute commands. You're rarely typing in syntax, just random letters and words to build and move units. This is really confusing in the GUI.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Touch Type Tale - Strategic Typing offers a delightful ESC from the ordinary. It's a WINDOW(s key) to a new category of game in which the player CTRLs both units and production buildings through typing. When first ENTERing play, the FN of various game elements can be confusing, maybe even overwhelming. The enemies sometimes come without PAUSE. In the END, though, the player learns to INS troops effectively to DEL the enemies and keep safe their HOME. More seriously: I had fun. I'm an…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hard, but you can develop a strategy to win, and the game also allows you to play on different modes, making it easy. Nice way to combine typing training acceptably nice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an RTS that you play by typing. And it's pretty good! Pretty fun story. Definitely helps with touch typing. There's a couple dozen levels (with 5 difficulties), several minigames, a skirmish mode, PvP, and probably other stuff. Absolutely recommend!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To me, the act of typing is so rhythmic and percussive that I've always found typing games a source of relaxation. This here gives me the oddest sensation of zen-like bliss as I'm being forcibly pushed off a cliff.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Touch Type Tale is one of those rare games that proves a simple idea can still feel fresh, smart, and genuinely fun. It takes typing....something most games treat like a gimmick...and turns it into real-time strategy that actually works. Not “educational game” works. Legit strategy game works. You’re managing units, reacting to battlefield pressure, and thinking tactically, all while typing under stress. It creates this constant low-grade adrenaline loop where mistakes matter, speed matters,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is wonderful in concept, the game play itself is good as well but the difficulty settings should be changed a bit. The highest difficulty is virtually impossible to beat on any mission or skirmish.

neutral · AI labelView post →A genius way to practice typing. Especially great for fans of classes RTS games. At 5 hours in, I'm still loving it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was so much fun! As someone who is new to RTS and typing games, this was so easy to get into yet had just the right amount of challenge for me. I got a new mechanical keyboard recently and its been so fun typing with it too!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →excellent strategy game that happens to be an incredible typing exercise, it is excellent since it not only depends on your strategic ability to win, but also on the physical ability to type; the narration can be a little cliche, but it has a lot of charisma; the game is also beautiful; it is a little difficult to adjust the difficulty well if you have experience with strategy games but do not with typing, or vice versa, but it's really worth it and super fun in multi or single player, it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun strategy game that also lets me sharpen up my typing skills. What's not to like?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and unique experiance that helps me writing faster and better feel my keyboard :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic, every chapter introduces a new mechanic that keeps the game fresh. Glad to see a dying genre (Typing games) revived with such a unique concept.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes, This works great on my SteamDeck with a KEYBOARD. This game is very entertaining indeed. Just really well put together, sharp looking and smooth.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great concept and gameplay. Challenging at times
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really love typing games and tried very hard to love this one. Ultimately, I just found it too fiddly and the difficulty tuning way too uneven for me to enjoy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Idea is good, content a bit meh. Theres for example no map allowing team fights like 2v2. Its just 1v1 and i think thats boring. The campaign is kind of....i dont know. Not really interesting. It goes back and forth with who you fight for or against and thats annoying, while its also not thrilling enough to keep you hooked. Had other typing games that kept me engaged far better. The spin off maps like the Ship sailing one are also awful, too hard and just not fun. Its visually fine, the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is just amazing, the story, the gameplay, the art, the typing, 10/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super fun, finished the campaign in a week, wish/hope for more content!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An Inspired Mix of Typing and Strategy I've been learning to touch type for about a year and have tried a bunch of typing games to sharpen my skills, but Touch Type Tale stands out as my absolute favorite. What makes it so compelling is that it’s not just about typing fast, strategy plays a huge role, especially on the harder difficulties. Improving your typing speed definitely helps and feels incredibly satisfying as you get better, but smart decision-making and well-timed commands are what…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So unique and plenty of challenges. The art is appealing and the story is funny.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very addictive typing game, great story/lore, and good difficulty scaling. Would recommend if you like typing games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →super happy i won the giveaway for the full game! love the references to other games out there while still letting me type my way through this interesting strategy game 😁
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a font-astic game! I mean, truly. Hats off to the small studio that brought this big game to life. It's a workout for your mind as much as it is your fingers. Want to mine resources? Type. Harvest crops? Type. Recruit workers daily? Type. Erect buildings and barracks? Type. You get the point. Or do you? Because every single action that is at your fingertips is literally at your fingertips. You will be asked to type at a speed known only to the quick brown fox. However, you're not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What it is, in a normal RTS with weird controls and very nice and cute art. You get to mine minerals, construct additional pylons and send dudes to kill enemy dudes, but you do all of that by endless typing: Asparagus, Women, Kind, drop, Foment, zeroed... and so on, and on. It's fun when it clicks together and annoying when you have to type an Iliad to direct a single unit from point A to point B. (Is there a button to cancel the last order? Please, please, will somebody tell me? My least…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →MEATY If this game wasn't themed around typing, it would still be an excellent strategy game - and the campaign story has plenty of charisma too! Makes me think of the golden era of flash games - Age of War and etc. - but more polished and more variety.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developed by Pumpernickel Studio and published by Mythwright, Touch Type Tale - Strategic Typing is an inventive blend of real-time strategy and keyboard-based gameplay that successfully transforms typing into the primary method of commanding an army. Instead of selecting units with a mouse and issuing traditional commands, every important action depends on accurately typing words and commands under pressure. The result is a game that feels both fresh and rewarding, combining the excitement of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've only just begun playing this game, but there are a couple of things that make it easy to recommend: 1. Actual gameplay. This is the rare sort of typing game that involves strategy as well as quick touch. I was very pleased to discover that the economy building and army movement systems require thought and skill; it's not enough to type fast (and, in fact, you can be punished handily for tactical mistakes that no WPM could fix). 2. Gorgeous art and animation. The visual style is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OMG! SO MUCH FUN! Enough fun cut scenes to feel more like a story VS a typing game. There is LOTS of typing tho so if your not comfortable with the keyboard you may have issues. Ran into a few really difficult levels that took me a few times to play through but otherwise fast moving story line!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is incredibly well thought out and polished, has a funny story and helps you learn to type faster. Can only recommend it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is seriously underrated. unique artstyle, cool typing gimmick and clearly shown love this game was made with - im so glad i purchased it after playing demo. thank you so much for developing this game :>
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I 100 percented the game when it was given away for free on EGS, and decided to purchase it here to support the developers. The story is simple but interesting, the art is clean and the style is unique, the gameplay is very challenging but satisfyingly achievable at the higher levels for an RTS veteran, while the lower difficulties are much more accessible. Gameplay is varied with different game modes and mini-games being introduced across the campaign alongside the traditional RTS mode. If…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played a demo of this way back and thought it was going to be a lost gem, but gladly it's back in all it's tricky strategic nerdiliciousness... Now with different difficulty levels. Maybe a collaboration with "Typing of the Dead", one day?.. In VR !! Who knows?... One Things for sure, though. Mavis Beacon would be proud... Er, I just checked and she was not actually a real person... but now we have Hot Wheels Ferrari's !!! Gran Typismo !!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some of the weirder levels don't really work very well, but this is overall a pretty fun and cool combination of typing games and strategy. Paul needs some coffee also, bro always looks hella tired.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, just looking at the trailer I already knew this game was going to be a lot of fun. Obviously, it's a typing a game, so if you're not big on typing. I would stay clear, but otherwise I highly recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a novel take on typing gaming, marrying the need to type fast with the need to make strategic decisions fast. As such, it may not be for everyone but fans both of real-time strategy games and typing will surely love it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a cool and fun game. It provides a great variety of strategy in the different arc of the campaign. You don't just do the same but harder, some missions are to protect a convoy from ennemy attack, some demands you to reach a amont of gold like other is to slow the ennemy in order to earn time to ally in order to do something, etc. I will not list the different types of situations (or it will be long), but there is a grand strategy mission which you will control and develop your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very difficult but also very educational, 9/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game with strategic elements. Maybe i am lazy but it is very cozy to just lay your hands on the keyboard and type. Haven't tried PvP yet.
