What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 174 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (3,110 of 3,470 positive).
Players praise Train Valley as a charming and challenging puzzle game that combines model train aesthetics with strategic time and resource management. [1][2][3] Some reviewers find the game frustrating due to steep difficulty spikes, clunky track laying, and time pressure. [4][5][6] Many players appreciate the relaxing sandbox mode and the satisfaction of completing levels, despite the occasional rage-inducing moments. [7][8][9]

This is not a train management sim. Its a time-pressure spinning plates type puzzle game with a notably bad UI. Its track laying and demolition system is just horrendous that they prove to be bigger hindrances than the level's obstacles. Which is unfortunate since the game is pretty look at and the music is nice but you won't have time to appreciate it since you cannot build while the game is paused and you have to …

Once in a blue moon, a game comes along that has such perfect and obvious design, that you wonder, why has nobody done this before. This is such a game. At the start you think, it's too simple, but then the levels are all unique and become more and more challenging even for veteran gamers. And for kids it's still great to watch the trains and say which junction to switch and which trains to start. All around perfect …

Yes, I have over 250h on this. I do have all the newer versions from the Train Valley series. but I keep coming back to this one. It is simple, It is relaxing. And it still is a joy to play. The newer games in the series, while all fine, are much more "hectic" - ie need more work. Which is great when I'm looking for a bit of a challenge, but after shoving 12h of coal, some days I just want to watch the little …

This game... makes me so UNBELIEVABLY ANGRY! I hate this game SO MUCH. BUT I CANNOT STOP PLAYING IT. EVERYTHING IS FINE UNTIL U MISS A SINGLE TURN AND THEN EVERYTHING BACKS UP AND THE TRAINS GO EVERYWHERE AND THEY ALL EXPLODE AND YOU. LOSE. This game is 90% rage bait and 9% crying. But that 1% of satisfaction... I think it's worth it... unless that's just Stockholm Syndrome

Got this game on sale for C$2, definitely worth it. It's a puzzle management game about laying down tracks for trains to go from station to station. You have to watch your money, because going bankrupt restarts the level. There's three optional objectives per level which adds to the game. They're fairly easy to get, as some of them you can get just by playing. A really nice game to sit back and relax to. You can …

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Relaxing is not a word I would use to describe this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This looks like a puzzle game. What it actually is is a clever test to see how much Attention Deficit Disorder you have. In a given map, towns sprout up. Connect the towns with rails. Rails cost money! Mistakes cost money! Taxes are steadily eroding at your cash-in-hand! Exclamation points! Build rails to connect the towns. Trains leave those towns to go to other towns, and if they make it there they earn you money back. Though the amount they earn you ticks down steadily so you want…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wanted to keep playing but I got to the France mission and it was ridiculously hard. Small screen, low money to build. Tried about 4 -5 times and uninstalled. The purpose of a game like this is to relax and it doesn't have to be incredibly easy but that was a steep curve from the previous mission.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I play this game when I'm pissed off. Or maybe playing this game makes me pissed off, hard to tell anymore. Either way it's great for maintaining a general sour mood. When you can't take it anymore, you just click all the pending train depots and let God sort it out. Yeah, they crash, good. ♥♥♥♥ them. ♥♥♥♥ them and their little train lives. Get a bike. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Railroad switch sim game. If you like model trains, that's your game, because you have to turn every switch manually. For me, it's just too much fuss.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was pretty pleased with my game time score on this giant pumpkin themed Train Valley 2 level, but then of course, as Amabel has reminded me, trans women have a well-documented biological advantage at stuffing things into pumpkins.
positive · AI labelView post →Game will not reach main menu on Linux regardless of whatever boot option or Proton program used. Dev has responded a few weeks ago to someone else just saying to refund it.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: pre-launch options, windowed mode available (although borderless windowed mode is default), charming soundtrack, tutorial available, mouse wheel can zoom in & out, trains can be paused & go in reverse Cons: no 1080p resolution for windowed mode, no advanced graphical options, user interface could be better, laying down tracks is super clunky, trains will automatically ship out after a set amount of time Overall, a charming & challenging indie puzzle game. I’ve spent at least 2 hours as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dreadful track laying control that refuses to lay tracks where you want to lay tracks. Undo command nowhere to be found, despite it's constant call from the farce mentioned above. No progress saving, not even on Quit. An embodiment of proud incompetence.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Last game I played was Train Valley 2... yeah, I think I could survive a year planning/managing train networks. Thank god I played that before seeing this because I do not think my ass is surviving Warframe.
positive · AI labelView post →For those who prefer a relaxed game which is still challenging. The sandbox option is great for those who don't want to feel rushed or who don't like playing against the clock.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Train Valley is an excellent game for logic game fans. Players build tracks within the limits of the terrain and other tracks. Players then have to time the movements of trains to prevent crashing and time limits. The sounds of success are satisfying as well. It doesn't hurt to be a train enthusiast either.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have no idea what this Train Valley World game is about, but I really hope it's all about using an entire nation's resources just to make production chains to cook giant burgers for a county-sized reptile monster. Because that sounds amazing.
positive · AI labelView post →Entertaining! Some levels was quite challenging if you want to get 3 stamps, but it was fun. But, I think without time limit (like Train Valley 2) was really great advantage and make it more easier. Recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not really SIM train simulator more of a puzzle kind of feels like a mobile game i mean is a great time waster game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a cool little quality game at a low price! I love the graphics and the vibe the game gives to you, I really enjoyed it. It was fun to complete all the achievements :D Highly recommend! 10/10

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super excited to be part of a space team raising money for the first time while streaming for #gameblast25 My most played game is Train Valley 2. It's cosy as all heck! My heart belongs to Baldur's Gate 3 though... 🧛♂️
positive · AI labelView post →Great game to play even in 2024 if you love this genre! Love the attention to all the tiny details by the devs! Thanks! :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is fine, I don't have any major issues with it, but it's just too simplistic, gets very repetitive after a while and it just didn't give me enough new content to keep me interested. At first I was trying to finish all levels with 3 stars but once I found out that it just makes the levels too tedious, I quickly decided to just finish them without the extra objectives, but even then I got bored really quickly. Also if the game was actually challenging, it might be interesting, but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A bit of a pain at first but it becomes a game worth playing after you get the track design down. ***Also, USE THE PAUSE BUTTON in the TOP RIGHT of the screen.***
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fun but kinda hard for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy this game. Replaying it again after years and I have definitaly lost my skills. Said good bye to all my lovely 3 stamp locations and hello to my 1-2 stamps! 11/10 will play for another 36 hours
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i hope there is some auto track chaging thing such that all the all trains don't crash and i don't go bankrupt 🥀
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A charming and strategic train management game! The challenging puzzles and cute visuals make it very enjoyable. Great for puzzle lovers and simulation fans! 🏁🚆🛤️

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Train Valley, developed by Alexey Davydov, Sergey Dvoynikov, Timofey Shargorodskiy, and the team at Flazm, is a clever and compact puzzle game that manages to combine the charm of model railroads with the challenge of strategic time and resource management. It places players in the role of a railway dispatcher, tasked with building efficient rail networks and managing train schedules across several eras and regions. With its clean art style, intuitive controls, and deceptively simple mechanics,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Addictive, not a massive challenge but has plenty of levels to keep you busy (including the Germany DLC). It's different enough to Train Valley 2 that you can enjoy both simultaneously without thinking one is 'better' than the other. Overall, if you like light puzzles and playing with choo-choo trains, you will enjoy this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy this little puzzle game. It feels like playing with model trains. You can either play casually at lower speed and just get through the level, or challenge yourself to meet the additional requirements for silver/gold medals.

negative · AI labelView post →Its a fun little game involving problem solving and creativity under preassure. And as such is a lot of fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Inferior, by far, to Train Valley 2 but still a decent train-sim in its own right. If the developers were ever going to tweak it, my suggestions would be: - to give an option to start each level paused (rather than having to manually pause) - to make the differing speeds of trains more intuitive (as was done in TV2) - to remove the 'annual tax/bankrupt' mechanic that makes the level immediately fail (and instead make track or demolition costs slightly higher or 'seize a train' or apply a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Committed mass terrorism and won a level, 10/10 would definitely recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Didnt expect building train tracks can be fun and challenging. Nice mechanism.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You will end up bankrupt or with colliding trains. From the second campaign page on you have literally no chance to win the game - or you are extremely lucky. Trains start by themselves after a while and there is nothing you can do about it. New train stations appear much too fast and the income is too low to build up a working rail system fast enough. Nice little game with an absolute horrible gameplay mechanic. Save your money - don't buy !
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →more. I need more!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended. 10/10 for the genre. Your engineering skills will be put to the test! Loved the game. Completed the entire game with 3 stars on every map. Basically, you have to plan your railroad tracks so that you can get trains from point A to point B. There will be up to 8 different stations per map, that you will need to send trains to. You will manage the train schedules and it can get hectic.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been playing this game for years. It's a simple, fun, and challenging game that keeps your brain busy with coordination. I would recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Addictive and easy to pick up. I had a lot of fun with this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played Train Valley for 16 Hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy the concept but the game feels unfinished. Thumbs up but at $10 base price this is a solid 6/10 game. Issues: 1) Poor audio mixing/leveling 2) Unexplained mechanics 3) Unintuitive, ugly UI 4) Rapid difficulty scaling 5) Big RNG component to level difficulty
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game which gets you thinking and can be a bit frustrating at times
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game, pretty relaxing, though I wish junctions were explained a little bit better in the game, what is possible and what is not. I guess you could try it all out in sandbox by yourself to figure it out. It's fun for a few hours, but afterwards you want more from the game, you are basically working as a dispatcher for trains making sure that the tracks are well connected between stations and the trains don't collide with each other. With each chapter it gets more challenging: tighter…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best, most relaxing games that I can stay hooked on for hours
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is actually a very cute and satisfying game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a casual game about building train tracks and dispatching trains under time pressure. Closest living relative is Train Valley, I also added a few things inspired by Mini Metro
neutral · AI labelView post →I have an hour to kill, and I know I should be writing a board game review, or finishing up my FF9 playthrough. But all I want to do is play with trains! I have 350+ hours in Train Valley 2, and I still love the little puzzles to bits.
positive · AI labelView post →Great little puzzle. Highly engaging
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great balance of difficulty. Some of the levels are challenging but not horribly frustrating.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super fun train puzzle game. It gets really hectic as lots of trains line up to go to different stations. I had to replay a few levels a lot of times to succeed but I did it in the end. Just the right amount of challenge to be frustrating and that the same time you can still succeed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →And here's the best part: You could do, too! Just get "Train Valley 2 Complete" on Steam! (This post was not paid by the developers or publishers of "Train Valley 2", I just think it is a very neat game.)
positive · AI labelView post →A really good puzzle game that makes you create some very complex tracks to complete the levels. I'm not a massive "puzzle" game player, but this was great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As of today, Train Valley (2015) is the 251th best game of all time according to me, directly below Space Invaders Infinity Gene and directly above Yakuza 3. It is part of Tier 13. There are 25 tiers and 566 games in the list #PixelRankings
