I want to love this game. In fact, in the beginning I did. However, a game with no save feature (I just want to save and exit) is just a waste of time. Fun game, very relaxing UNLESS you want to complete every level with 5 Stars. Then it can become frustrating and even stressing. But if you just take it as a little puzzle game in which you can take your time mending mistakes, this game is such a joy.

Somehow relaxing and stressful at the same time, but a great puzzle challenge. I love that there are user levels to access so you have endless options to challenge yourself. Overall this is one you can come back to over and over again.

79% of the 169 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Train Valley 2. The complaint that keeps coming up: no save feature during levels. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

Critics, per Wikipedia

The game has been described as "a beautifully executed hybrid of puzzle game and tycoon sim that charms and challenges in equal measure." The graphics have been described as "aesthetically pleasing", with an "endearing sense of childish innocence", and has been compared to Poly Bridge. The terrain "can be difficult to interpret" but the maps are "still interesting and varied", with the game overall being a "little gem that will keep you entertained for hours." The way tracks are laid down in the game has been criticized, with them being described as "unnecessarily fiddly" with "a bit of trial and error involved in working out where you can actually build, especially when it comes to…

The developer is unable to properly implement Steam Cloud saves. The option to sync save files across different computers stopped working years ago. Unfortunately, the developer never fixed this, and using the `-force-cloud` option recommended by the creator on their Discord resulted in the loss of my save data with 919 painstakingly collected stars. Do not buy games from this studio; avoid them like the plague!

Not a bad game, nice graphics, mostly easy to use interface, challenging levels. Now for the bad part, no saves anywhere during gameplay. Very frustrating to play for an hour then make a mistake and have to start over form the start. Makes me not want to play.

I started my Train Valley adventures with Origins. A running theme in a lot of those reviews was, "This isn't Train Valley 2!" And now I get it. This game is quite different from the others, even though it's got both Valleys and Trains. The other Train Valleys (and let's not speak of Online, for I am told it is unspeakable by reliable folk) had a random sprinkling of towns that would randomly produce trains, and your job was to lay down tracks to get the trains safely to their randomly…

Nice puzzle game, which I enjoyed in the first levels. But later on there is usually only one solution to the tasks and now you have to try around until you find it. From then on it became annoying and frustrating for me.

Train Valley 2 is a tricky puzzle and trickier management game in which you can either optimize production or watch your trains explode. As an efficiency junkie, I play this during lunch to get my fix. Gameplay The base game includes 50 levels, a level editor, and workshop support. You start each level with some trains and a fistful of cash, and must supply at least one City with at least one type of Resource before time runs out. Earn up to five (5) stars per level by meeting restrictive…

I really loved this game, I did. It was awesome. It was different than most games I played and kept me really entertained. The replay is definitely there. Then around level 35, the game gets annoying and is no longer fun. You spend 20-30 minutes setting up everything just so that it's perfect. You have deployments going out, shipments are making their spots and then, for some reason, there's a barge or a weird conduit that comes out of nowhere and blocks the tracks. But it's too late because…

This is a puzzle game with trains. The goal is to feed a goal with constraints to achieve a point. The structure is easy enough to play without effort, but optimizing the solution is non-trivial. Single maps are 10-20 minutes long to stay within the time goals, which makes it a great casual puzzle game. Replayability is probably low: once you have solved a puzzle with full stars (all goals fulfilled), there is little to no reason to get back to that map again.

A seemingly decent sequel to Train Valley that at first looks very nice and logical. Now, instead of just sending colourful trains from one station to another, you need to deliver workers and goods to where they're needed. Unfortunately, it quickly devolves into an incomprehensible mess and honestly makes you wonder if the devs hate their players. For example, if one factory produces coal and another needs it, you can bet your boots this other factory will be on the other side of the map just…

You may want to give an Anno game a try. Best recent one is Anno 1800, but Anno 2070, 1404 and 2205 are great as well. In these you manage population levels, needs and logistical chains instead of traffic. Or maybe look into more survivaly city builders like Kingdoms&Castles, Nova Roma, Farthest Frontier or Banished. If you want more puzzle than city builder then there's Terrascape or Dorfromantik. Finally, you may enjoy Railgrade or Train Valley 2 - these are not city builders, but tycoon…

A nice enough idea but there are a few (annoying) ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The fact that the switches are changed by the trains running over them becomes a chore, rather than a challenge. The track laying system is very quirky and often enough the track gets finalized where I didn't intend it to be. In other games (especially at the start) the destruction of said falsly laid tracks) effectively costs nothing but this game it does cost you, so you are better restarting completely. This becomes a chore in…

I don't want to look at this anymore. Train Valley 2 is an initially charming puzzle game that is entirely micromanagement with zero macro. It severely lacks quality of life, insofar how a single derailment encourages level restarts every scenario. It is mind-numbing doing the same actions over after making simple mistakes, unlike a typical RTS where a similar miscalculation will only be a setback. You have to enjoy tweaking every little detail throughout the entire level. You…

I've purchased all the DLCs and have played for over 2000 hours at this point! Pretty fun, but if you're planning to 5-star all the missions, some of them are pretty frustrating. I took it as a challenge. Good Luck! Edit at 45 hours: Game is about if you can be a perfect micromanager. Was 22min into a run and missed 1 track switch and about 30 seconds to winning the game. A great time management game, especially if you like trains and/or optimization routines. All the best levels are in the core game and the Passenger flow extension. The Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire extensions are also great, they contain user generated content from the workshops. While the first game depends on some random elements that I do not really like, this game looks like the designers finally found a genre that fits there game engine much better. They replaced random trains, randomized start landscapes and the dynamic landscaping ( that could break your tracks and any train on it) with fixed landscapes and locations you have to connect to solve the given tasks. While I really like the game I find the landscapes hard to read. You really have to play each level…

(This is a revised version of my answer to a 3rd party survey.) There are many reasons why I enjoy TV2 so much. It is a game that is simple to understand, with very clear rules. All the mechanism are easy to comprehend, at any point in time you know what is going on on the game map. But, even though the rules are simple to understand, the actual gameplay can become really complicated and difficult to manage. Especially in the lategame where you have many trains and need to manage to keep them…

You'd think it'd be fun to build tracks and produce goods, but you'd be wrong in the case of Train Valley 2. The first game was smooth head scratching from the beginning to the end, but this one starts getting on your nerves after a couple of hours. The maps get complicated which is not the problem, but it's not fun anymore when you can't tell where you can build the tracks due to the graphics and the clutter in the maps.
