The devs did us a disservice—and maybe shot themselves in the foot—by marketing this as a "cozy game", because it's anything but. Climbing in Valley Peaks is stressful. A single mistake can cause you to fall off a mountain and have to start the whole anxiety-ridden process all over again. And it's often not going to be your fault: the physics are wonky and weird, controls are temperamental, the field of view is …

incredibly fun movement system that you can tell a lot of work went into to make it feel so great. Completing all the paths on a mountain and finally being able to trade your finished stamp card in and see what new upgrade you get is very rewarding. Very fun game, one of the best i've played this year no doubt, looking forward to finishing it!

Would be more of a "meh" if the option existed but I feel like being the dissenting voice for a game I didn't enjoy as much as I wanted to but I still think you should check out if you're interested in it. At its core Valley Peaks has a pretty strong gameplay loop, an open world-ish map with around a dozen mountains to climb, each with three paths of varying difficulty. I... would assume it's suppose to go "blue = easy", "yellow = medium", "red = hard" but there were definitely mountains where…

The Freedom and Joy of the Climb The climbing genre is one dominated by struggle: the pressure as you fling yourself from one hold to another, the pervasive call of the ever-expanding abyss below, the flash of dread as a hand slips and the following frustration as the safety line snaps taut (provided, of course, you've been offered the grace of one in the first place). If it's not the physical stress of playing, then it's a narrative-driven battle of the mind; the mountain itself almost always…

Played the demo. Played the game. Now Achievements are ready and im back for a third time. The climbing is real fun in this one. Some "features" are quite annoying but probably in a good way. Good difficulty so everybody got something to explore. Done with the mountains, i really want a B-Side Addon rn with new trails without the addons but all the other bells and whistles of the winter map. How can only the last routes contain all of the features :( . Sadly with the number of sold units…

It looks nice, it plays pretty well, and it's straight to the point on what type of gameplay it offers. It highly encourages exploration, which you'll find resources to help you travel around the map which is quite large despite being able to see at least half of the mountains at a given time. While climbing mountains seems simple on surface, there are changes to several trails but never to the point where it gets frustrating as you can always see what is ahead of you before you approach it.…
