Players praise the cooperative gameplay, calling it chaotic and satisfying with friends. [1][2][3] Many reviewers note the game lacks content and becomes repetitive after about 15 hours. [4][5][6] Some players report frequent bugs and technical issues that can end runs. [7][8][9]

I want to recommend this to my friends so bad. The game is fun with friends and even just random people. I already have 100 hours in this game. But good lord there's no optimization in this game. Has your run gone on for longer than an hour? Have you gone farther than 10 jumps? Congrats, your run will now likely end to a myriad of technical issues. Desync from the host and can't pick up or drop anything up. Can't …

Ignore all the "It's too hard in single-player!" Reviews... This is a CO-OP Game. And it is AMAZING. Get it with your friends, and have a blast. When you function as a team, the game is so much fun, and very well balanced. As a whole crew of 6 scrambles to keep the ship alive as your gunners finish that last 10% of a bosses HP. When you don't function as a team, it's still a ton of fun. Watch as your Engineers and …

Fun space game, especially with friends. Sadly the replay value is kinda mid. Same enemies, gunplay feels same as well. 5% faster shooting due to leveling does not make the game feel like "more content". Get in sale. 25€ is a bit much for 15hrs of "new" content.

Void Crew is one of the rare games that truly embraces cooperation. Games where players take on specialized roles, where different actions must happen simultaneously, and where specialization provides a real advantage are uncommon — and Void Crew nails this formula. You can choose between four careers, each offering incremental bonuses as you progress: Pilot, Gunner, Engineer, and Scavenger. Pilot does exactly what …

I play a lot of co-op games, and since Void Crew is heavily built around cooperation, it looked promising and immediately caught my interest. I wasn’t disappointed either, there are only a few aspects that I think could benefit from improvement. To me, the gameplay is clearly the game’s strongest point (I haven’t encountered many titles with a similar style). It relies heavily on strategy and skill. Before setting …

Critics, per Wikipedia
Void Crew received "generally favorable" reviews on the review aggregator Metacritic with an overall score of 80. PC Gamer wrote that Void Crew "is basically the best Firefly game ever made", but that they were disappointed by the Scavenger role, which they felt was not defined enough to matter for the gameplay. Gaming Nexus wrote that while Void Crew channels the same rush of energy that comes from working with friends, citing Overcooked or Deep Rock Galactic as similar games, the difficulty curve was surprisingly high, and that to fully enjoy it, you have to have a team which is practiced. However, playing solo proved an impossible feat, and "stripped the game of its core identity", but…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After 4-5 runs you've seen everything the game has to offer. The game is severly lacking content in the form of randomly generated bases, cosmetics, fun things to troll your friends, diversity in enemies & bosses, guns,... you name it, it's missing. Feels more like a (stable and optimized) alpha version. After about 7-8 hours you've seen absolutely everything, twice.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent gameplay, but the amount of content is fit for a technical demo, not a full price release.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game can be a lot of fun, and I've invested a lot of hours in it, but it's getting buggier with each update. At this point, about half my runs are lost to some bug making me unable to interact with the astral map and go to my next mission.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is fun but there's way too many run-ending bugs. Need to destroy targets to complete the objective? Well too bad some of them spawned inside asteroids and now there's nothing you can do. Finally finished the objective and received the Interdiction event? Well now your crew is stuck in an ever-collapsing void tunnel and not able to continue the run because for some reason you were supposed to know not to interact with the astral map while the Interdiction event is happening. Runs take…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels very under developed for a full release game. It's fun for a little while but the content gets repetitive fast.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was more fun in early access somehow. Also, playing solo is pretty much impossible. If you do buy the game, make sure you have at least one other person to play with.

positive · AI labelView post →WARNING! This game is exceedingly challenging to play solo. RNG is not your friend. Your automated guns will very often be pointed the wrong way when an unseen summoner sneaks up behind your ship and starts calling for reinforcements. And you'll almost never have enough time to finish repairs before those enemies arrive and target you, sometimes killing you before you can get back inside your airlock. The item and weapon drops are not properly weighted, evidenced by me getting the highest tier…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay is great and as a group we've had a lot of fun with it. I've been hosting most sessions and generally we just play till we die. Now that we're 25 levels into our skill trees that's not happening as much. So this weeks game play went like this: Day 1 --- play till three bosses, have a banner ship. We call it a night. There was 3 of us on the run. Day 2 --- there were 6 of us, so we start a new run, build the ship up, have a fantastic build, get three bosses in. Some folks drop out…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Judged as a roguelike, this game is terrible for the following reasons: 1. There are no interesting decisions to make within a run. Every run feels the same, as there are no build-defining items or synergies to build around. 2. The character builds are lacking. You pretty much just dump your points into a single tree, and within each of the four trees you aren't able to create any unique or different builds. 3. In a run there are only a handful of missions, and you'll probably experience…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played this game a lot since it was first released, and generally enjoyed the gameplay and the variety of missions. It was something fun, lighthearted and low stakes to play with friends. But then I played the new Calamities update for the first time, and my friends and I quit after 20 minutes in sheer frustration after being quickly destroyed by a Singularity and then a random massive bomb. I'm not necessarily complaining that these things are in the game, but surely they should be…

I don't care how you spin it, you did not make an " authentic text-to-speech system" if you had done that you wouldn't call it "ethical AI" there is no such thing. You made a cake with oleander and are trying to pass it off as parsley. You poisoned your game because you didn't care about the end product you just wanted a feature. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a fun game. I personally would an enjoy an option for blueprints to carry over between voyages, as after about 20 hours / level 18 or so, I am finding the xp progression not enough for hardware variety and half the playtime is on the starter gear still it feels like. Getting rare drops isn't as fun when you know they will only be something you can use for 1-2 missions, and boss loot seems entirely pointless since they are the end of the run generally. Maybe I am missing a higher tier of…

neutral · AI labelView post →Gotta love slopping it up with AI, I would rather the Homunculus just not have a voice at all. Edit: The developers pay their voice actors 'per word generated' which is a step in the right direction. I still firmly stand by that they should cut out the needless AI and have a person voice the Homunculus. Glados wasn't loved because they sounded like a soulless robot, why should we expect this to become the norm now.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, the game ran better a year ago. So many bugs. Just lost a run where I couldn't function in my role as engineer/scout because when I would leave the ship and my pilot would move away, I would get burned. No matter how far from the ship I was, I would get torched to death the instant he moved. On top of this, we experienced a bug several times that same run where someone would be unable to interact with anything on the ship, requiring them to relaunch the game and rejoin. How is the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun game but only for about 15hs or so after that it gets repetitive, multiplayer is fun, solo also okay, but needs more content to be worth the full price tag, I´m seeing they regularly update so i think it will be okay eventually, but for now get on a sale only
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do not recommend Void Crew for the single-player experience. You will be disappointed if you expect a 3D FTL, you will have a lot of fun if you expect Overcooked on a spaceship.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not the first of its kind, but it is the first that felt polished and popular enough to play with friends. Their ongoing development and expanding of the game is a breath of fresh air during a time when certain game publishers kill their own games. It came out about a year before Jump Ship Demo and Wildgate, the other two big contenders in this space (pun intended), and you can see Jump Space and Void Crew influencing each other with each of their updates. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was sceptical at first considering that ships move more like submarines and the lower visual quality of ship interiors (materials being stretched or scaled inconsistently for example). The gameplay is very solid when playing with a group of friends. The game absolutely excels at the multi-crew gameplay and creating great tension and difficulty that wants to make you play again. I also have to admit that I was confused about the differences between Void Crew and Jump Space. After playing I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game with friends! The gameplay is INSANELY satisfying with a good crew. This is the type of game that wants a lot of content, which unfortunately it does not have. Hoping for more in the future! positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh I guess Ive been confusing it with Void Crew- that explains more about why so many people on the tl who dont typically play coop stuff were praising the game haha
neutral · AI labelView post →AI slop voice acting, and the devs seem to have NO concept of why that is bad, stating that it "Made sense creatively" That's not how it works, you cannot excuse not paying a VA for work, you can't do that. Seriously, NOT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cool.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The soulless Homonculus voice acting really put me off, until I went back to check, hoped that the voice acting was just terrible and saw the AI disclaimer. I really can't get behind AI voice acting be it "ethical" or if "it makes sense creatively". It remains a morally gray practice, that even if "ethical" is not up to the standard of good voice acting. Especially when i try to kill myself in the tutorial for fun, and the quirky voiceline of the AI comes without any sarcasm in its voice…

neutral · AI labelView post →Void Crew has definitely become one of the boys’ night favorites. It blends everything you could love about roguelikes and packages it all into a spacecraft. Honestly, this game feels like the perfect blend of Sea of Thieves, Deep Rock Galactic, and No Man’s Sky. I love how you can constantly rotate classes to keep the game feeling fresh. Each run feels distinct, and there’s enough variety in weapons and relics to shape the direction of your build each time. Obviously, you’ll figure out what…

positive · AI labelView post →The game is essentially dead. Roughly 100 to 300 concurrent players worldwide according to steamcharts. And this is reflected in the availability of lobbies, even with crossplay enabled: most lobbies are private. This makes it really hard playing it at all if you're not on a solo trip. I find that unfortunate. I played it a lot during the early access phase about two years ago. Came back recently and found cool, meaningful new content that would be great to play, if there were people to share…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is great. I'm sure you will find other reviews telling you about how funny it is with friends who scream when stuff blows up, but I'm here to tell you it's also great when played seriously. When the ship is running smoothly, it's smooth. Everything works perfectly, and it feels great, at least from the pilot and gunner's seats. Our engineer had about 5fps while fixing all the stuff going wrong, but I'm sure she was fine. Also, it's pretty good solo, if you can hold yourself together.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Today I played Void Crew with some friends. It went amazing and was fun to play pilot. The game began to throw a ton of enemies at us and ship was at 30% and were fighting like hell. Mid fight, my computer literally catches on fire, and shortly after the ship explodes. I turn off the PC. (All's good now :D) I don't think I've ever had a game go so hard my computer started spittin flames. I think everyone should play this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good game in premise, and it looks pretty decent. It feels like a first person co-op FTL. My friends and I had a lot of fun with this one but only for a few hours. The issues with the game are that it seems like a roguelike but you can kind of always use the same strategy and the encounters are mostly the same. It’s also pretty often that in a group of 4, 1-2 people have nothing to do. Another issue is that you’re very restricted on what modules you can use because of the energy system.…

(glados specifically) got it before i realized they preferred slop that ruins the environment and jobs over real creative direction. refuse to support or play until thats removed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Strange, unwelcoming, difficult, janky, and unfun. This game feels like it wants to be a survival crafting game and doesn't even manage to do that well. I'm gonna try Jump Ship instead whenever I get the chance.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun with friends, but not much variety in gameplay. Good to pass the time if you want something relatively simple to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun game, especially with friends. Online random teams are chaotic as always. Very hit/miss. They do have a solo build which causes a bit of a conundrum. You're better solo than with a 2nd player as the solo buffs provided are so insane. It really isn't worth teaming up with people until you have a group of 4+. Solo you get double damage and all of your weapons power usage is reduced by 2. Nothing else even comes close. Yeah the automatic weapons have some restrictions but that…

The systems feed into each other perfectly, rewarding creativity and curiosity. Keeping the ship alive requires a ton of smaller mechanics that feel polished enough to be satisfying on their own. In solo play you get automated ship weapons and repair systems, along with a reduced energy useage for the ship and the ship deals 100% more damage to enemies. Really fun gameplay loop with metaprogression of leveling up and unlocking new ship loadouts.
