Sorry but I did not like this one. Seems to be more about you an anti social and your annoying brother Vernon. I was wanting a trip along this railroad and all its culture and sights all I got was sad story of two brothers that don't get along and a past of sorrow. I will never play this one again. Needed more about the journey and the railroad and less about the annoying brother. Not for me...

TL;DR: Well written with nice visuals and catchy music, but the main characters are so insufferable I couldn't go on after 1 play-through. Conditionally not recommended: If you actually want to read a story about Siberia and see much more than the inside of a train compartment, there are probably more interesting videos on youtube. If you're looking for a slow-paced interactive narrative experience about travel and relationships - you've in the right place. It's a well-written text-based game with nice music and real travel-photos. Great stuff - especially for a lockdown time, when all we could do is read/play/dream about travels ;) (took me a bit more than an hour).

Short and very railroaded (pun intended), your choices matter very little. I had two playthroughs, with different mindsets and still ended up in the same place at roughly the same time, in a situation with choices that were all bad. Basically, you can't win. Then again, its labelled as "interactive fiction", not "choose your own adventure", so I guess my expectation was way off.

Wanderslust Transsiberian didn't pull me in too much. It is very short (about an hour for one playthrough) and even in this one playthrough I didn't feel like my choices really mattered. Once i was even forced to backtrack because i didn't do what the game wanted me to. The main character is a very distrustful person who doesn't really want to be on this trip through Russia and his brother in law who wants to be there way too much. They are supposedly travelling together because main…

This game is a nice little story about an introvert travelling with his extrovert bother-in-law and lets the player decide how to approach blending their two styles of travel. I enjoyed the story and characters, and thought the choices and their consequences made sense within the narrative. It seems less linear but also a lot shorter than the first wanderlust game, so if you're not planning to replay with different choices maybe wait till it's on sale.

Does Anyone Else Use Tabs, Any?. I was vaguely aware of them but presumed they'd been added mostly for those who were more used to that UI convention: not something long-time users of Emacs might really need but Emacs (as usual) trying to accommodate all types of usage styles or preferences. But, trying it out the other day briefly out of curiosity, I noticed that tabs could hold their own window configuration/layout (which, like, makes sense but hadn't dawned on me). And I started thinking…

Another lackluster story by the Wanderlust team, while the lack of choices is quite understandable because of the setting of train travel, again the story that's too personal serves as a major distraction to the whole exploration and travel theme. With minor arguments and scuffles between two main characters every other scene I felt only annoyance and tiredness from the script. Same with the main game, this is a horrible way to remotely experience a travel. There's a bunch of other people who…

Wanderlust: Transsiberian is not a game, it's a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". To answer that question: When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get…

A well written and entertaining story in this series. Keep in mind there are no monsters or shooting in this, its just two men on a train deciding if they can stand each other or not. It's text, choices, pictures and music. However it's only an hour long so I don't believe its worth the price of £3.99. I bought it on sale for £1.35 so I think £1.99 is a better price for its length.
