What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 163 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (4,554 of 5,228 positive).
Players describe Warpips as a fun, polished game that evokes classic flash games. [1][2][3] Some find it repetitive after a few hours, with limited strategic depth. [4][5][6] Several reviewers note the game is best enjoyed on sale due to its short-lived appeal. [7][8][9]

A Decent Start That Goes Nowhere Warpips is enjoyable for the first few matches. The quick battles and simple mechanics make it easy to jump into, and at the beginning it feels like there’s potential for something more strategic to develop. Unfortunately, that feeling doesn’t last. After a handful of games, everything starts to blur together. The tactics don’t really evolve, and matches begin to feel repetitive …

Within my library, this really feels like one of the more 'gamey' games. There's not story really, not an overarching moral, just a game who's sole purpose is to be played for fun. If you're looking for about ten or twenty hours of playing a game, then sure, buy this. It's good, polished, pure fun.

At first, Warpips was a blast. Explosions everywhere, quick battles, and easy fun. But the longer you play, the more everything starts to blend together. Same units, same rhythm, same outcomes. Not bad, just mid and a bit repetitive. 6.5/10

Fun gameplay loop, great soundtrack, neat visual style. My only complaint is the difficulty settings, specifically "General" difficulty feels a bit unfair and unwinnable at times. Maybe it can be chalked up to a skill issue on my part but I think the relentlessness of every mission combined with permadeath makes hours of progress go up in smokes in a matter of seconds, and well duh the highest difficulty is meant to …

DON'T PAY 15$ FOR THIS, IT'S NOT WORTH IT, BUT: Remember flash games from the the early 2000s where you defend your base with units? Yeah, this game is that. It's quite fun for about 10 hours or so, maybe less. I recommend playing on hardest difficulty and trying to win conquer mode. It will get quite repetitive after the 2nd island though because you already unlocked all units you can choose from. THE LAST MISSION …

83% of the 163 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Warpips. The complaint that keeps coming up: becomes repetitive after a few hours. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

60 of 178 · most liked firstthis game is cool and all but it's gets you too-invested into the game by having fun mechanics but then instantly derailing all the fun because there are only a certain amount of units and if you lose you lose and your save is gone, it would work better if there was a campaign and you could replay levels, ruins the fun if you spend hours winning and then need to restart because of one mistake.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To be honest the game is fun, but its the type of game you play once and never play again, and because there is also no mods it gets boring very quickly. Better to buy at a sale not full price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Warpips is a two-sided RTS tower defense game, where you send soldiers, vehicles, or even aircraft onto the battlefield to destroy the enemy base while protecting your own from destruction. neutral · AI labelView post →Do you like watching your units run up to cover and fire point blank into something directly in front of them and never move? Do you like having things unable to aim properly with 3d mechanics in a 2.5d planescape? do you want an annoying game that looks fine until you actually pay attention and realise it's really really lazily coded and gives you no recourse to fix lazy ai that can't parse basic things on the battledfield in an auto battler like I'll stand here and shoot a wall or I'll stand…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The idea is fine but it drags everything out so much that even short sessions start to feel like you committed to a full evening. Matches take way too long for how little actually changes which just makes it feel like slow motion busywork.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Frustratingly difficult game. Tutorial "shows you" how to do the basic things but if you want to learn to play the game go read some guides noob because otherwise you won't make it far. I know there are people who somehow enjoy hitting their head against a concrete wall for twenty hours straight, but I'm not one of those. I don't mind the games to be difficult, but in my opinion this game's "easy" is way too hard for someone just wanting to learn to play the game. Sadly can't get a refund…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Autobattler with some interesting ideas, but definitely not a game with a lot of strategic depth. Picking your units before a battle begins is more of a guess, and you can't really experiment since it's "game over" after failing 4 battles. Because of this, I ended up picking more or less the same units for every mission, depending on the balance of enemy infantry and verhicles. You can't control your units directly, not build any offensive structures on the battlefield. I still recommend the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Warpips: Tiny Soldiers, Big Chaos Regret: 23% (my pips died bravely and stupidly) In Warpips you send tiny soldiers across a battlefield in a tug of war against the enemy. You pick units, send in tanks and helicopters and watch your little pips charge forward with full confidence and zero survival instinct. It's simple and cute, and more tactical than it looks. 8 hours of watching tiny men die for tiny gains. Very realistic, actually.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall a nice little auto battler. I usually play about 30 minutes at a time, I dont think I could play for more than an hour straight (unsurprisingly it gets a little repetitive). I recommend picking it up on sale. It isnt the best game ever made, however it is very deserving of a thumbs up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprisingly has a lot of depth, you have to decide during campaign which units you use, cause everything you use is permanently gone, so you try to min max every fight earlygame to save units for the hard lategame levels
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →just a really awesome game and it's (85%) off currently!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's really a shame for me to give it a negative review, but the game just lost it's charm and the game feels unfinished. I would still check it out on sale, but they're better games like this out their. It's probably just me though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So the base game is solid. Not Great, but better than good. The issue I have is the crazy, crazy, crazy insane jump in difficulty you have when you get to the final boss on the final island.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's basically the Age of War with better graphics, UI and 2.5D perspective, otherwise the gameplay kinda repetitive.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short-Lived Fun (Warpips Runs Out of Steam Fast) Warpips is a cute little time-sink at first. Quick battles, simple mechanics — easy to pick up, and for the first few matches, it feels like there might be some strategy hiding under the surface. Then reality hits. After a handful of games, the novelty wears off, and all the tactics blur together into a repetitive slog. “Strategy” quickly turns into “press buttons and hope for the best.” Single-player content tries to add variety, but it’s…

It reminded me of the old-school games I used to play back in school—those Flash games where you had simple battles, stickman wars, and progression from basic units to stronger ones. They weren’t overly complex, but they were just complex enough to keep you hooked. Warpips gave me that same feeling right away. --- 🔥 Gameplay — Simple but addictive At first glance, the…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super fun tug of war game where you play as the not US invading not Iraq to spread "Democracy" (read gather oil) Lots of tongue in cheek humour, nice 5-20min per mission gameplay and a great metagame.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game. Definitely worth a buy on sale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tug-of-war strategy gameplay just like you probably played as a kid. Has enough depth to be well worth the money on sale. It is a standard military setting, though, which gets boring for me after a while. Still think the game is super fun, and I'm glad this niche still gets games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a fun game. I got it from a bundle and didn't know what to expect, but it's a lot of joy to play it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3/10 I wanted to like it. It does have fun mechanics and fun units to use... In the beginning. However, even on the "easy" difficulty the game is borderline aneurysm inducing. The AI is completely overpowered and you are never given enough supplies to properly counter. If you gather supplies they just get stronger. See the problem? By the third island it is practically impossible to continue, on EASY. This game is a waste of time and an insult to the player's time as the AI has infinite…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, it really feels like the old flash games, only more polished and high quality. My only criticism is that it feels like there should be more content, like a multiplayer mode, or a custom difficulty campaign, but there isn't.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Getting overrun in the second level of the Tutorial and only reason for not losing is that my own base is invincible.... Great start... not....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun and short game, with some endless re-run chances. However, not enough variety of upgrades or overall "control" of the battlefield, which could have made it a little more challenging. 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Warpips is a streamlined real-time strategy game that strips the genre down to its most chaotic and addictive elements, delivering fast-paced battlefield action without overwhelming complexity. It focuses on smart unit deployment and timing rather than micromanagement, making it easy to pick up but hard to master. 🔹 Gameplay: Warpips thrives on simplicity and strategy. Instead of directly controlling units, you deploy troops, vehicles, and support at the right moments to outmaneuver the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD GAME
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very cool game that feels like an old browser classic such as Age of War, which I played a lot back in the day. It has roguelike elements: you get a set of units, pick a mission, spend them, and if you win, you earn new random units and keep pushing forward until the final mission. My main issue is the helicopter unit. If the enemy has one, you’re basically forced to bring one too, which kills the fun of experimenting and thinking strategically about your unit choices.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was OK. I wouldn't really say it's worth $16.99, which is it's current price. I would say it's worth maybe half that. Buy it on sale if you really think you need it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game gets repetitive quickly, When playing quick battles hardcore, the enemy has a swarm come in at the first seconds with no time to prepare, some units are locked under medals which seems to be an annoying system, Weapon heat is the most repetitive system I've ever encountered in a game that swarms you at the start, Starting out with a 2 unit cap is unheard of. how am i supposed to win most of the battles if all i got is a cannon that cant destroy vehicles and units that cost over 70 to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worst game of its genre, 15 years ago flash games were better, happy that this was just an addendum in a bundle. Even if you'd pay me, i'd never play it again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For what it is and it seems so straightforward, it pretty much is, there are some tense moments in trying to get the boys across the field to win the objective. Pretty fun overall.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really great Tug-of-War like game. More content would be welcomed but it seems finished, Good and fun little time killer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perfect for steamdeck, not really worth the msrp but for its sale prices make this a steal
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looks like the developers spent a lot of effort on this, but mix of 3D and pixel art looks really weird. That old Age of War flash game felt better and it was free. Def. not worth the price. I got it for 85% off and it still feels like a bad deal. Skip this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a tower defense game, where you do not control units directly, but you select the roster in advance and time their deployment and upgrades. It has more tactical depth than what this description would have you believe and the gameplay is just on the right side of challenging on higher difficulties. On Steam Deck, there is a glitch where occasionally the unit switching marker gets stuck, forcing you to restart the game to reset it. Mildly annoying and not super-common, but still worth…

If a game has multiple difficulty settings, I’m usually picking Easy and still somehow managing to make questionable decisions. So when I started playing Warpips, I wasn’t expecting it to become a strategy game I’d genuinely recommend. But somehow, it works. Warpips is one of those rare strategy games that manages to feel strategic without making you feel like you need a degree in military science to…
