Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood
Developer Cyanide Studio
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood is a 2021 action role-playing game developed by Cyanide and published by Nacon. The game is based on White Wolf Publishing's tabletop role-playing game Werewolf: The Apocalypse, and is part of the larger World of Darkness series. The story follows Cahal, an eco-terrorist werewolf who has been banished from his werewolf tribe, and who fights against the Pentex corporation and the… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 194 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (1,246 of 1,802 positive).
Players are split, with many calling it a flawed but fun werewolf game best bought on sale. [1][2][3][4] Fans of the World of Darkness werewolf lore often find the story and execution disappointing. [5][6][7] Some praise the power fantasy of rampaging as a werewolf, while others criticize repetitive gameplay and bugs. [8][9][10][11]

I have been a W:tA fan since the 90s. I wanted to love this game. I wanted to be able to recommend it. I just can't. Spoilers ahead. Its biggest failing is that it is bad for someone with no idea about this world, and it's bad for someone like me who knows a lot about it. It's too difficult to understand if you go in blind. What's a Fianna? Why does it matter? Gaia? Endron? Like you can get the very basic idea …

I'm a Werewolf: The Apocalypse fan since it first came out. I even collected the card game they made (Rage, check out the card art if you can - Amazing). I absolutely LOVE all things werewolves, is basically what I'm saying. THIS GAME IS ABSOLUTE F*CKING TRASH! Everything is half-assed or less. The lore is f*cked up. There's not even any auspices and whatever the skill tree thinks it is, it doesn't make any sense. …

I love how it's a stealth game but if you mess it up you can just turn into a werewolf and win anyways. This is genuine, more stealth games should have a werewolf button.

UPDATE: Completed the game. I wish Steam had a "Eh, Maybe" recommendation or something instead of just a "yes" or "no." Like... it's definitely not a great game, but since Werewolf games are rare and many of them are far worse than this one... this game is definitely a pick up if you like Werewolves. But only because there isn't anything else out there that'll scratch that itch. Once an actually good Werewolf game …

This one is a mixed bag. If you want an in-depth World of Darkness Werewolf game, this is going to let you down. Most levels are just copy and pasted from the last, the stealth mode is laughable at best, and the voice acting is... monotonous. You've seen everything the game has to offer within the first half an hour or so. But, if you want something where you just rampage around as a werewolf through a few levels …

Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood sits at 66% positive across 193 opinionated reactions from 4 sources. Fresh or rotten — where do you land?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood received positive previews at E3 2019, with Paste calling it one of their favorites of the show. However, upon launch the game received "mixed or average" reviews from critics for most platforms, except for the PlayStation 4 version which received "generally unfavorable" reviews, according to review aggregator website Metacritic. IGN gave the game a negative review saying, "Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood has decent stealth going for it, but its weak story forces you into painfully mediocre combat too often to be worthwhile." Destructoid liked the game's combat, but felt the mission design and stealth was repetitive, with the reviewer stating that…

And you are playing as one. Finally. - Surprisingly decent combat. It could use polish but it's a wonderful start. - Story concept is a great idea IMO. Unoriginal, but good nonetheless. - People say this game is hard. I say skill issue. It's easy. Health is basically free after certain upgrades. - Wonderfully compatible with Linux <3 Cons:…

neutral · AI labelView post →I'm a huge fan of werewolf media, and considering there really has not been an actual concerted effort to make a werewolf game outside of the Companions questline in TESV, I was really hoping this would at least be decent. Instead, Earthblood feels like a watered down retread of concepts and gameplay I've already seen executed way better years earlier. I will say, the power fantasy of being able to turn into a huge beast and rip through most human enemies with ease is executed very well, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So... the game is nowhere close to great. The voice acting is mediocre at best and at times terrible, like the voice actor for Cahal at least tries but he mostly fails. I have no idea wtf was going on with those dialogue options ("She don't understand" like, seriously? lmao), the animations are sometimes PS2 equivalents, the characters look terrifying (except for Cahal) and oh boy let's not even talk about the super ambitious 'ending" that was supposed to continue in another game (lol). Why am…

positive · AI labelView post →Its not a terrible game. Its at least playable despite a few bugs. I've seen a couple T poses so far. Its just really and boring even for a hack and slash. It gives you the illusion of choice of doing stealth but there's really no use to doing so. Game is a lot easier and simpler just running into a room and surviving a minute of enemy waves while slaughtering everything with a single hit rather than carefully planning your approach and being strategic since you accomplish the same goal…

You can go stealth using bolts and takedowns, you have a skill tree which you can upgrade your tactical skills such as turning your bolts to eletric and max them for 5, also you have your combat being Combat = General, Agile, Heavy and Frenzy. you can turn into a huge and anger warewolf and the fight is amazing! also you…

Because, and I can't stress this enough - the way it attempted to reflect real-world cultures was one of the BEST AND GREATEST THINGS ABOUT WEREWOLF THE APOCALYPSE.

neutral · AI labelView post →I really enjoyed Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood. I understand that the game has its controversial sides, but personally, it turned out to be exactly what I had wanted from a werewolf game for a long time. What I liked most was how the Garou themselves are portrayed. The werewolves feel powerful, beastly, and furious, but they are not just “monsters for the sake of action.” They have culture, conflict, a connection to the world, and their own inner tragedy. You can really feel that the…

positive · AI labelView post →I really don't know how to feel about this, on the one hand, I love the World of Darkness, conversely, this game is honestly just bad. It's unfortunate that WtA doesn't get the same love as VtM does, because there is a thin layer of potential in this game and it's story. It is all let down by it's execution, the gameplay is very basic, and quite dull. The combat while in Garou form, again, has interesting potential, but it just has no substance whatsoever. I feel like a lot of gameplay from…

That shouldn’t happen. I somehow managed to finish the fight anyway, but after that I got stuck. The game wants me to go through the gate to continue, but I can’t reach it or leave the area at all. So now I’m just stuck there and can’t progress. Hope you can check this.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was forewarned by other reviewers coming into WTAE and even having my expectations tempered by that still left me in a position of disappointment after playing the game. I barely made it past the first few hours before thinking "is this it?". The graphics don't quite give away the game's datedness at first. The character models and buildings look okay but it's not exactly next-gen mind-blowing. Past these, the game really lets itself down with bland, generic, copy-n-pasted enemies and…

I grabbed it on a 90% off sale, which I would not pay anymore for it than that because of how repetitive it is. However, it has a great soundtrack, and the atmosphere has grown on me a lot. There is a hud which you are free to roam around in. While there is nothing to do besides some small side quests, it is oddly relaxing to roam around in wolf form. The more I play…
