Another review said it perfectly. "This game isn't scary, it's annoying." The characters are bad, plot is bad, and you'll spend more time hiding than doing anything, not because you're scared, but because you have to wait for enemies to leave so you can go and do any objectives without being harassed and killed. 100% not worth any purchase, let alone the full price tag of $30.

It's got great atmosphere, and some decently spooky vibes. It's a shame that it's all for nothing because of the atrocious gameplay. The constant "threat" of the patrolling janitors very quickly loses all tension when you learn that you can hide in a bathroom stall in front of their face, and they immediately lose all sense of object permanence and forget where you are. You also have essentially no ability to tell …

66% of the 168 Steam reviewers we collected recommend White Day: A Labyrinth Named School. The complaint that keeps coming up: janitor stalker enemies are annoying. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

Critics, per Wikipedia

White Day: A Labyrinth Named School received mixed reviews from critics on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch according to aggregate review website Metacritic.Praise was generally given to the setting, puzzles, and horror aspects. Reviewers also favourably compared the title to classic horror games from the PlayStation 2 era. Conversely, criticism was given to the difficulty and frequency of the janitors and ghosts that appeared throughout the game, which critics said were too overpowered and hindered exploration (the former of which later received a patch that reduced difficulty). The cryptic nature of certain boss battles was also cited as an issue. Cory Arnold of Destructoid, in a review…

Early 2000s promotional art for White Day. Adore the gentle blue shading used here! White Day wasn't Korea's first horror game, but it certainly was the first one to weave in so much of Korea's rich culture, history and folklore. Can't wait to show you guys what I've been cooking!

White Day: A Labyrinth Named School is a remake of the renowned 2001 original in which we find ourselves in the shoes of a boy who is trying to deliver the diary and his love that his classmate So-Young Han wants, but in order to achieve this goal he will have to face the horrors that are to be found in his school at night. The game is centred on a variety of puzzles that require reading notes and paying attention to how to solve them, as well as keeping an eye on surviving the maniacal…

A pretty good little horror game with a great atmosphere, interesting story, and multiple endings. I really liked the characters, ghosts, and overall setting. The only thing that really bothered me was the incredibly annoying Janitor, especially in the second building. He made exploring more frustrating than it needed to be.

I beat it once and just watched all the alternative endings on youtube cause this game is such a chore. This game is relic of the past and deserves to stay there. RIP

Overview: This game showcases immense potential, positioning itself as a contender for one of the best I’ve ever played. However, its execution often leaves much to be desired. The game boasts impressive scale, featuring numerous endings, secrets, options, items, and intricately designed locations. Yet, this abundance can feel overwhelming, as the sheer volume of content can lead to frustration when attempting to explore everything it has to offer. Many of the game's elements are ambitious…

If I was to make a survival horror game I think one of my primary influences would be the 2001 Korean PC horror game "White Day: A Labyrinth Named School", specifically the 2001 version and not the more widely available remake. I hate it's approach to horror, which is reliant on sudden shock stims

I'm not big into horror games, especially ones with ghosts, but here I was curious and gave it a try. I did play through the game once, and so far on easy difficulty, unlocking 3 endings in the process. There are several difficulties to choose from, ranging from very easy to hell. In my first playthrough, I didn't notice a lot about the ghosts. Sure, they were there, and some were boss battles, but the game has a lot more to offer when it comes to the ghost stories, from what I noticed. Some…

White Day: A Labyrinth Named School is a remake of a 2002 Korean title of the same name. The original is supposedly very influential (even though I barely hear anyone talking about it) and was an inspiration for sequences in Amnesia, and Layers of Fear. The way the Janitor stalker works, it seems that most similar horror games also took some ideas from it. I’ve never played the original, but if the remake is any indication, White Day didn’t age well. Multiple puzzles have missing…

As a story this game is fun and interesting. I love the characters and ghost designs, however as others have said the main janitor enemies are horrendous to deal with in the second half of the game, and most of the content and puzzles are locked behind normal difficulty and above. The endings are also locked behind arbitrary choices and involve replaying the entire game to get to. It genuinely feels like the devs are using frustration tactics to get you to put more hours in but it just puts me…

Personal Rating: Mostly Positive (70%) If we are talking about full price (30€) then it´s NOT worth it. I got it for 5€ and I´m happy I waited. White Day should be for like 10€ to 15€ at most. You get roughly 3-4 hours on the story if you take some time. Also, the Mobile version has all the costumes already in the core game. (I know White Day from mobile) I recommend the game, but wait for sale.

The stalker character, who isn't even really that scary, is so annoying to deal with. He moves super slowly through his path, sees you from anywhere unless you're crouching, and randomly appears super close to you for no reason. You'll spend most of the game running back to the same place to hide. Sometimes you will get cornered in weird spots and just die. There's a ton of super cryptic puzzles that are impossible to figure out unless you look them up. Finally, there are so many moments where…

Somehow i feel like this game was supposed to be 18+, but somewhere mid-development devs decided to turn it into a mediocre horror/puzzlecollect all deaths simulator. I know that's probably not the case, but it also has a bazillion spicy skins to buy, so... The story is actually not that bad. It's not good, either, just OK, but it's told very poorly. The only suitable sentence to describe my feeling towards this game is "I love to hate it." Why? The game is short but still meaningful and engaging, I like that. But then I realized it's designed to be short so that players can replay again after completing it to see different paths (or routes) by choosing different responses for the female characters. Honestly, I didn't enjoy that. I wish each choice led to completely different situations instead of just small changes to the same quests and…

It's crazy to think that everything the main character goes through happens in just one night. The game is packed with lore, and I love how you get to uncover the backstories of different ghosts as you progress through the game. Also, I'm sure that the swimsuit DLC makes the second playthrough even better. I don't own it, but I have absolutely no doubts about it. 🔥

I got it because it said it had Sexual Content, unfortunately not very sexy just maybe the skins you can have them wear. I initially bought it for the goon sesh in my goon folder of steam but it's a challenging game. Repetetive for some, hard for others, you'll most likely just be running around the map the whole time its just a detective type game solve the puzzle watch the cutscene understand the lore, drama of some guy chasing after a girl who was looking at another guy but you're now prince…

Surprisingly good, I feel like the game is shorter if you know where to go and know how the AI (Janitor) works, but definitely fun to try and get all the achievements (some are easy, some are time consuming, some need a guide to make sure you it right). Definitely worth checking out if you want a Silent Hill type game and miss classic PS2 vibes (this is the PS4 remake).

Waiting in a corner crouching simulator for 5 mins just to get caught anyways simulator. Frustrations simulator. Wasted potential simulator. One of the worst games I've played. And I've played Dustborn.
