I love this game. But wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. The game has a exponential difficulty level. It starts easy and then turn into dark souls out of the sudden. Playing it is an exercise in patience and the most annoying experience of my life. If you tell me you really like playing this game, I would believe you a madman. I would ask your family to put you in an asylum. Let me give some examples: - First …

This has truly been one of my all time favorite games that I can genuinely just get lost into for hours, I really enjoy everything from the art style, to the storytelling, and the combat system. Again, cannot recommend this game enough

Wildermyth is a must-play epic for any strategy or RPG fan. The papercraft visual style is charming, unique, and perfectly captures the vibe of a living storybook. Your heroes don't just level up; they age, fall in love, lose limbs, and eventually retire, or die in a blaze of glory. Every tale is unique and carefully crafted based on the meaningful choices you make during a campaign. The possibilities are endless. …

The stories are worse than expected, but the tactical combat is better than expected. Overall, I like it a lot, even if it's not quite my favorite game of its type. Wildermyth aims to be a story generator, with randomized characters, relationships, and permadeath. I love this kind of game. XCOM and Battle Brothers are two of my top five games of all time. However, Wildermyth gets in the way of its own emergent …

Baldur's Gate 3 / DND Lite but you also get to control more aspects of the story. You essentially play DM with your team, sharing a single"Tabletop" of sorts. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Wildermyth, it's one of the best games, the best LAN co-op game I've ever played. We love every second of it. Runs well on Linux as well.

I bought another Fanatical mystery pack when I was there getting Wildermyth. >_> This was actually not a terrible pack for $4 and change, though it was all cheap indie titles. For anyone curious about the pulls, I kept The Crackpet Show (splashes of Happy Tree Friends and Enter the Gungeon) and Tallowmere (a low-budget, goofy but somehow intriguing roguelike side-scroller). The other ones don't seem like my…

If I had to pick a singular moment in which I fell in love with the writing of this game, it would have to be the first time I saw that line. Wildermyth is one of my favorite RPGs and whole heartedly endorse it. The winding paths your heroes take, the struggles and the aging and the injuries. Selfishly, because I've played it so much, I wish they were still just adding *more* to it, but I…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a fun, unique way to do a roguelike. The first few playthroughs feel like magic, and you can't imagine ever getting tired of it. Eventually you start to see the same events and it starts to not feel as unique, but for the those first ~15 hours it was one of the coolest games I've played. I really wish this concept for a roguelike was expanded upon.

neutral · AI labelView post →A really great gem of a game. I played it soon after release and then sadly kind of forgot about it, although I really liked it. Picked it up again a short while ago and I am loving it. The artwork reminds me of old children books, but the stories are decidedly more mature. Othe people have already praised the great mix of tactical combat, artwork, music and story telling, and I have nothing more to add. It is a really, really great game. The best way to enjoy Wildermyth (in my opinion): pick…

Heck, you can even play it if you have friends, this thing has a multiplayer. All in all, the game is good and one of my favorites, HOWEVER, there is one thing I feel obligated to warn about. This game is meant to be replayable. It isn't because of on major issue. There are not enough possible things that can happen in this game. How this game works is that every single time you…

positive · AI labelView post →This game is cute but not really inspiring: There are random small events and your choice determines what happens. But nothing substantial comes out of it, there is no real story consequences. It's just an OK game. I don't get the overwhelmingly positive reviews.

positive · AI labelView post →After years of playing this game, I can confidently say it's one of my favorite games of all time, best described as a diamond in the rough so to speak. If you love to read, and I mean LOVE it, someone who enjoys reading the lore and will pick up the books in skyrim to read for fun sort of person, I cant recommend this game more. I could write a small book raving on how much I love this game for it honestly. The base combat system is traditional yet also very unique which I love, easy to learn…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great for Group Gameplay The group you play with makes all the difference in this game. My boyfriend and I play together and make silly voices and accents for each individual character. It makes the experience a blast, and has lead to a ton of inside jokes. I don't know that I would have nearly as much fun playing it alone. The Writing... Exists. My partner and I both find it pretty laughable when people claim the writing is great in this game. The writing is clunky and over-flourished.…

positive · AI labelView post →X-COM: SEXUALITY UNKNOWN I grew up on turn-based tactical games. Ultima IV and V. The Gold Box. UFO: Enemy Unknown (or X-COM for the Americans in the audience). Looking back, I can't honestly say I loved the combat in any of them. The original X-COM remains one of the most terrifying games I've ever played because the baseline jeopardy was nuclear. Every unexplored room might contain a Sectoid with a lucky reaction shot. The Gold Box games faithfully imported AD&D's habit of letting…

positive · AI labelView post →Before starting the game, I thought that visuals would be the problem, but the character interactions would save the day. positive · AI labelView post →There's a game called Wildermyth where every faction is inherently incompatible with humans, but none of them are inherently evil. For example, the Gorgons are an empire seeking to reclaim lost territory. This is fair, but they're aquatic, so they need to flood the world to take it back. Humans naturally need to fight them in order to survive, and there's no real way to compromise on that. It doesn't help that they ooze corruption everywhere they go.

I wasn't expecting much of it but it completely blew my mind. A game where I can ACTUALLY choose my path, where my choices ACTUALLY matter and interfere with the gameplay, narrative and everything else! positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just played through the first 3 chapters (8 hours), thought the game was over... was totally satisfied and a little sad it was done. Then I learned there are a half dozen more campaigns all with 5 chapters each plus multiplayer. It's crazy, but I actually cared about the characters as they aged and the paths I chose for them through the years -- time actually matters in the campaigns as one resource among others and your adventurers can die or retire - their appearance changes as they age…

positive · AI labelView post →It's ok. Not great or amazing, Not terrible either. The game progresses slow, We spent most of our time reading the story menus with less than 1/4 of our time in actual combat. I wish i could give it a mediocre rating but Steam only allows thumbs up/down. I purchased 4 copies so I could play with my boys. I'm glad I got it on sale. I'd be disappointed if i paid full price. I didn't get very far, but the early game play was also boring. (though the mystic interacting with the environment was a neat mechanic). -- But basically it was very simple combat combined with spiritless text that you have to speed through. And then the campaign map is ... also incredibly slow as you watch time slowly tick while tasks get done.…
