What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 78 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (101 of 133 positive).
Many players praise the game's rewarding exploration and challenging, thoughtful level design. [1][2][3] Several reviewers note strong Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown influences, with some calling it a clone. [4][5][6] Some players criticize stiff combat and unresponsive controls, especially during platforming. [7][8][9]

This game has some solid platforming and cool environments and enemy variety. I also thought the quest system was good as well. The voice acting is pretty good too and I appreciate the weapon variety. However the combat is atrocious. It feels so stiff and like I can't even react to an enemy. Doing your weapon combo practically freezes your character in place for a second. I feel like I should be able to animation …

A great Metroidvania that deserves more attention. Winds of Arcana does not hold the player's hand, and the exploration feels rewarding. The combat is fun and responsive, and the different weapon unlocks will just add more variety to it and keep it fresh. The level design feels thoughtful and does give the player a challenge. It does not feel stale because of the enemy and boss variety. Honestly I just feel like a …

After about an 1h in, it really feels like a Prince of Persia Lost Crown clone, but not as smooth. And I think that's hard to disagree with. I'm still enjoying it though and it definitely scratches the metroidvania itch. If it's half as good as PoP, it's an easy recommendation. Combat feels good. The platforming looks nice, too. Looking forward to seeing how it fleshes out with new weapons. …

fantastic Metroidvania that truly deserves more recognition. Winds of Arcana never spoils the adventure—you’re encouraged to find your own path, and every discovery feels earned. Combat is smooth, satisfying, and only gets better as you unlock new weapons that keep the gameplay feeling fresh. The level design is clearly crafted with care, offering real challenges without ever feeling unfair. With plenty of unique …

Since I’m already into these kinds of games, the artwork and the $10 price tag instantly caught my attention. Then I saw the positive reviews piling up, and I thought, okay, I have to try this for myself. And honestly? I’m really glad I did. Right from the start, Winds of Arcana: Ruination gave me that feeling I miss from older, tougher action-platformers—the “figure it out yourself” vibe. The game doesn’t hover …

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting, when I watched the trailer it gave me Prince of Persia vibes, but it's lot different from what I have experienced from both the games, this game lives upto it and it is great. Excellent voice overs (too good), great platforming, challenging boss fights makes it very unique for me. I believe other Metroidvania players resonate with my thoughts. I have seen enough weapons in many games, but this Chakram is fun, I highly recommend players to buff this weapon. Worth the buy!

positive · AI labelView post →The game is quite fun. The atmosphere and ambience is top notch. Voice acting is very good for an indie game. I'm an hour in and the platforming and map is quite big, lots of little spots to find collectables. Overall I recommend to get stuck into this game.

neutral · AI labelView post →Gave this a fair shake (4 hours-ish) - but the moment you get to a point where you have 2 more movement abilities (double jump and world switch) the game devolves into absolutely absurd platforming segments that want you to switch abilities mid-air with basically 0 leeway. The overall tank controls don't help one bit.

neutral · AI labelView post →It's a good metroidvania. It is and I really like the graphics, vibe, platforming, combat (in general) and sound. BUT At the moment game is full of bugs that make it a ragefest rather than good experience. And I don't mind small bugs like on occasion I fell below textures and have to restart from last save. No - that's not the big issue for me. What is really grinding my gears are bosses encounters and how buggy they feel. Hitboxes are a joke in here, your character freeze abnormally after…

I couldn't play for more than about 15 mins before I just closed the game. - Menu bugs with options highlighted that aren't what you have selected - Audio cutout on cutscenes - Frozen button inputs. This was a big one. Occasionally you attack, then hit X again for next attack but nothing happens. Hit X a few more times, nothing. Try to move, can't. Completely locked up. Dash works, so I hit dash then character can move and attack again. This happened 4…

positive · AI labelView post →This review is from a playtester who played the beta earlier this year. I had a good time playing this game. Although the devlopers did not labelled the game as "Made in India" and targeted metriodvania community, I was expecting a polished build on release. I completed the main story along with several side quests in around 10 hours. The level design was fantastic, with well-connected biomes that encouraged exploration. The game is clearly inspired by Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am about 12 hours in and here are my first impressions- This is more of a yes and no recommendation. The Good The graphics and overall artwork are amazing. I really enjoy the combat and having different weapons to utilize for different enemies etc. The beginning is pretty intuitive and the map is pretty forgiving The Bad The game has crashed twice, both times my save would not load and I had to restart entirely. Luckily I had not progressed to far and I am hoping it will not happen…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Arcana really impressed me. The visuals are striking, the sound design is on point, and I liked that the game doesn’t keep holding your hand—it lets you figure things out at your own pace. The difficulty is balanced nicely, and the level design has that satisfying “one more try” feeling. Enemies and bosses are fun to deal with, though the controls can feel a bit clunky at times.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played about two hours of Winds of Arcana and it’s actually pretty good so far. The game starts slow, but in a way that makes sense it takes its time introducing the world, the magic system, and the basic combat. Visually, the game looks really nice. The environments have a calming fantasy vibe, and the music fits the mood really well. Combat in the early game is simple but fun. You don’t get a ton of abilities right away, but the elemental system already feels like it has potential.…

Dont let the screenshots fool you; they don't do it justice, the game looks prettier than it is in the pictures. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My time with Winds of Arcana so far has been a fun one. I like Aryn, the main character and the world and lore so far are pretty intriguing, Combat since the recent update has been more fluid and I've been enjoying it. I'm finding the combat difficulty to be spot on but the platforming a bit on the tougher side, though the quick respawns help. Recommended for Metroidvania fans.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Arcana turned out to be a really pleasant surprise. The art style is beautiful, the music is solid, and I like how the game doesn’t spoon-feed you—you just explore and learn things naturally. The difficulty feels fair, and the level design is quite polished with plenty of small discoveries along the way. Enemy variety and boss fights are genuinely fun, though the controls could’ve been a bit smoother. Worth the money. If you enjoy challenging, exploration-heavy titles, this one is definitely…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was a genuinely refreshing experience. As someone who grew up playing Prince of Persia, the nostalgia hit perfectly — the movement style, environment design and overall vibe brought back those classic memories while still feeling modern and polished. The developers did a great job with the storyline. It’s vivid, engaging and much more vibrant than I expected. The quests are well-structured and keep you hooked throughout, with a nice balance between exploration, combat and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Liked the visuals and sound work. The characters have interesting personalities. I also appreciate that the game doesn’t overload you with tutorials or path markers; it lets you discover things on your own. My main complaint is that the controls aren’t as smooth as they could be, which can get annoying sometimes — especially during combat. Even with that, it’s an overall enjoyable experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am really enjoying this game, particularly its stunning art style and the narrative keeps me invested. With some tweaks in feedbacks, this game could be truly exceptional.
