Developer Crystal Dynamics
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is a 2010 action-adventure game developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Android and iOS. It is part of the Tomb Raider series, but unlike previous games, the game does not carry the Tomb Raider brand and has a heavy emphasis on cooperative gameplay. Players praise the game's fun co-op and puzzle design, calling it a gem that holds up well. [1][2][3] Some note technical issues on modern PCs, including crashes and launch problems. [4][5][6] The game is seen as a refreshing spin on Tomb Raider with tight gameplay. [7][8][9]

So uh, if you're thinking this might be a good cheap co-op game to get on sale for you and a friend, just be aware that there's a good chance it won't even run on modern systems. And there's seemingly no consistent solution.

Playing Guardian of Light in the year of our lord 2025 was really fun, and despise this game being fifteen years old ( I know right?), this is one of those that holds up extremely well, now I don't want you to think this will be the best video game of all time, because it wont be. But if you itching for a short game that is around 6/7 hours , that gives you this fun top down, twin stick shooter, action adventure …

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is an isometric action-adventure game that still holds up surprisingly well. The gameplay is fun, with a mix of puzzles, combat, and exploration that feels rewarding. The graphics, while dated, remain visually appealing for an older title. The story is decent but more of a backdrop for the enjoyable co-op experience. Definitely one of those classics you can still have fun with in …

A refreshing spin on the Tomb Raider formula that blends action, puzzles, and co-op chaos. This isometric adventure surprised me. It’s not your typical Lara Croft game—no third-person cinematic platforming here—but what it lacks in grandeur, it makes up for in tight gameplay and clever design. You team up with Totec, a Mayan warrior, to recover the Mirror of Smoke and stop the evil Xolotl. The story is light, but …

Not a Tomb Raider fan per say, but this game is really fun in co-op. Was lucky to not have connection issues most of the time, just the last two missions were very out of sync. It's short, doesn't overstay it's welcome. I really enjoyed solving puzzles using different tools that are available to Lara and the Guardian. The story is complete garbage, there is probably only 5 minutes of cutscenes overall. But it's easy …

neutral · AI labelView post →As an achievement hunter, there is one achievement that is disgusting to obtain due to the sheer randomness of one mission. To obtain all relics in the game, you have to complete small extra challenges, on top of time challenges. One is placing a bomb to perfectly send a ball through a maze and into a spot in 15 secs. Just stupid and waste of time to get so far for something so rng to ruin a run.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lara teams up with a glowing tank of a dude and suddenly you’re in a co‑op chaos machine where puzzles, explosions and accidental betrayals all happen at the same time. One moment you’re solving something clever, the next your friend is bomb jumping themselves into the shadow realm because gravity felt optional. It’s fast, fun, a bit janky and perfect if you enjoy teamwork mixed with just enough friendly sabotage to keep things interesting. [8/10]
