Lara Croft GO
Developer Square Enix Montréal
Lara Croft Go is a 2015 puzzle video game developed by Square Enix Montreal and published by Square Enix. A spin-off of the Tomb Raider series. The player moves Lara Croft as a puzzle piece through a board game while avoiding obstacles and manipulating the environment. The developers distilled major series motifs, such as boulder-chases and reaction-based gameplay, to suit Lara Croft Go's time-independent gameplay. From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 187 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (3,817 of 4,100 positive).
Players praise the game's clever, turn-based puzzles and beautiful minimalist art style. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the game is short and easy, with low replay value. [1][4][5] Several players criticize the controls as awkward, being a mobile port. [6][7][8]

A sleek, turn-based puzzle game that trades tomb-raiding action for careful, grid-based step planning. The isometric art style is beautiful and translating Tomb Raider traps and enemies into spatial logic puzzles is a neat concept. That said, it clearly betrays its mobile-game origins with its short length, low difficulty curve, and lack of replay value on PC.

Despite the fact that Lara Croft GO is a mobile port, it still manages to offer a complete Tomb Raider experience : abandoned caves filled with treasures, puzzles, observation, otherwordly beings... It's short and the gameplay is basic, but there's pretty much all you can hope for in a mobile game. The basic concept of this turn-based puzzle game set on a grid, is that when Lara makes a move, everything else moves …

Didn’t expect to enjoy it this much. I’ve been a longtime Lara Croft fan, but this game really surprised me. The puzzles are well-designed and gem collecting is super addictive. I loved it so much, I went for every achievement.

A beautifully crafted puzzle adventure. Lara Croft GO combines smart, satisfying puzzles with a clean art style and a calm, immersive atmosphere. Every level feels thoughtfully designed, and progressing through the game is genuinely rewarding. A great experience for both puzzle fans and Tomb Raider lovers.

A chill, stylish puzzle game with simple turn-based mechanics. Looks great and feels relaxing, but it’s pretty short and the puzzles are mostly on the easy side.

95% of the 187 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Lara Croft GO. The complaint that keeps coming up: awkward controls due to mobile port. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
The game received generally positive reviews, according to video game review aggregator Metacritic. It was named Apple's 2015 best iPhone game of the year, for "its beauty and clever design", and best mobile/handheld game at the 2015 The Game Awards. Apple recognized Lara Croft Go with one of its 2016 Apple Design Awards. Reviewers commended the game's aesthetics, puzzle design, and fidelity to the series, but criticized its short length. Critics disagreed on its degree of challenge and either found it too easy, too hard, or just right. Chloi Rad (IGN) wrote that the game was theatrical and diorama-like in its display and attention to detail. Andrew Reiner (Game Informer) called its…

We never heard back when it came time to release. So I figured enough time has passed and it’s time to put this out. Soon!
positive · AI labelView post →Heres a preview from my upcoming Lara Croft GO: Mirror of Spirits OST release. I captured this from directly from the game itself, and since it was never updated, you can't do much in this room to progress the chapter. This track is called "Drone." @ko-op.com did a lovely job with the art.

But we'll just note that Lara Croft Go (on Playstation & Steam) has reached its new lowest price with -50 cents than usual, at €1.49 / $1.49 / £1.19. And the game is still not discounted on mobile...
neutral · AI labelView post →📉 Lara Croft GO is currently 98% off on Google Play: The game costs just €0.09 / $0.10 instead of €4.99 / $4.99. The offer is available until July 6. You now have absolutely NO excuse to miss it. (Unless you're on iOS, then it's still full price.) Via @tombraidercie.bsky.social.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game makes me feel dumb, which is exactly what I look for in a Tomb Raider game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10 years on and I still haven’t found a better mobile game than Lara Croft GO. Monument Valley is probably the only game that came close enough. Gameplay ✅ Puzzles ✅ Visuals ✅ Soundtrack ✅ ✅ Please tell me you have played it too 🥺
positive · AI labelView post →🎂 10 years ago, Lara Croft Go, the gem from Square Enix Montréal, was released on Android, iOS & Windows Phone. The game, now supported by Deca Games, is still available today, including on Steam & PlayStation. How would you describe this game in three words?
neutral · AI labelView post →I recommend this awesome game only if you’re smart. Only smart people—those who like to think—can finish this game. If you’re not smart and don’t like thinking, and only enjoy shooting and killing straight through the story, this game is not for you. I recommend this game only if you love Lara, sex appeal, and puzzles. 😄 Рекомендую эту классную игру, только если вы умный. Только умные люди и тот кто любит думать, может пройти эту игру. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hitman go (one of my favorite puzzlers and puzzle types) but worse. still as lazy a mobile port as it gets, but instead of fun challenges, there are hidden objects to find for useless cosmetics, and not only are there essentially timed levels (killed enemies come back after a few turns, can't dilly-dally), a bunch of levels employ one of my least favorite puzzle mechanics, moving multiple mirrored characters at the same time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →im back on my video editing kick. I finished cleaning up the 2019 Lara Croft GO stream, since i recently played the game again. Genuinely a fun game, even if i was a nervous streamer back then lol

positive · AI labelView post →Lara Croft GO: Tactical Efficiency and The Portable Tomb Lara Croft GO is a stellar example of how to adapt a major franchise into a mobile-first experience. It distills the essence of classic Tomb Raider—the isolation, the traps, and the sense of discovery—into a series of beautifully minimalist, diorama-like puzzles. Thankfully, I can transfer my save as well. Because the game is built in Unity.

neutral · AI labelView post →Arachnophobes beware: has lots of spiders that move quickly and suddenly. Otherwise, great puzzle game. Very challenging in the last maps but with the hint system everyone can complete it, be it in a cheesy way.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bizarre control scheme, part of the challenge in each puzzle level is trying to make your character move by swiping them in the direction you would like them to go.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →#Platinum 215: Lara Croft GO. Fun little puzzle game. Though, it was under the Strategy genre on PSN so I'm counting it for that. That wraps up the genres. Some of the puzzles made me feel stupid once I realized the solution from failing a few times in a row.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a mobile game port, so the controls are weird. You need to swipe with the mouse. It is very uncomfortable, and there is no how-to in the beginning, so you just click everything and try to move Lara somehow. Puzzles are interesting, movement-based, with some interesting mechanics, but most of them are really underused. I mean, you see them a couple of levels, and they never appear again. Pity. Meh. I don't hate it, but I'm never gonna play it again.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lara Croft Go is a fun, challenging game. While the actions are simple, the puzzles are engaging and make you think. The game itself is short to complete and easy to get all trophy's within a few hours. It is a relaxing replay as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A clever and elegant reimagining of a legendary explorer. Lara Croft GO distills the spirit of Tomb Raider into a thoughtful, turn-based puzzle adventure—swapping adrenaline-fueled action for quiet contemplation and precise strategy. It's a surprisingly graceful shift that works beautifully, capturing the series' sense of exploration in a new, minimalist form. Set across mysterious ruins and long-forgotten temples, the game invites you to guide Lara through increasingly intricate puzzles.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a fan of Lara Croft and someone interested in puzzle games, I tried this title and it didn’t disappoint me. It’s not a typical puzzle game with free movement; instead, it’s based on turn‑based puzzle mechanics (at least that’s what I’d call it). The early levels are easy, but as you progress the difficulty increases, and with new mechanics introduced every now and then, the experience gets even better. However, I personally didn’t enjoy the controls. They feel like they were designed for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is such a simple game upon first look, but it is so well done that I think it might have made it in my top 15 games of all time already. In this isometric puzzle, you play as Lara Croft and you do typical Lara Croft things, exploring ruins, stealing, I mean collecting relics and avoiding anything that could be deadly. Both you and the environment take turns making moves. When it's your turn, you can move one unit in one direction. When it's the environment's turn everything moves…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this on my phone years ago, loved it back then, so I decided to play it on PC again. Recommended for everyone who loves puzzle games and/or Tomb Raider games, 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game really is better than it has any right to be. Steam Deck tip: set resolution to 2560x1600 and linear scaling; it still runs at 60fps but antialiasing is much better.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lara Croft GO (Mobile) - 9/10 One of the best puzzle games I've played and also one of the best mobile games in general. The devious puzzle design and cozy visuals make for a great game for my downtime, and one of Lara's best spinoffs
positive · AI labelView post →19. Lara Croft GO i say this without a hint of irony: i think this is one of the best games in the tomb raider franchise, even though it's a mobile puzzle game spinoff. it's the definition of "a hidden gem". it has a turn-based, puzzle-y boulder chase sequence and somehow made it work?! go buy it
positive · AI labelView post →Platinum no. 23 Lara Croft GO Earned 21/12/2023 This was a fun puzzle game but this is my most shameful platinum, I got it within like 24 hours or so and definitely could've done it faster.
neutral · AI labelView post →Plays great on something mobile with SteamOS You can't get any easier than this game. There's hints on each level that guide you through the entire level. Challenge yourself and see if you can complete the levels without the hints. You'll need a guide to find all the vases. Some are extremely well hidden
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was playing Order of the Sinking Star, what a game! The mechanism is so well design and it makes me feel I'm smarter by playing it. The levels with monsters remind me of Lara Croft GO, which is also one of my favorite. #orderofthesinkingstar
neutral · AI labelView post →Holy shit, the Lara Croft GO game is 20 cents Australian on Android. A fucking steal. Genuinely a great take on turn based tomb raider. The fact that there weren't more than this, Hitman GO and Deus Ex GO is a great shame. play.google.com/store/apps/d...
positive · AI labelView post →Soooo fun, relaxing music, beautiful design, fun puzzles, but annoying movement system. A nice 2-day long entertainment
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a small puzle game not too complex not too easy but neither incredibly fun nor boring so i give it a 6/10. Oh also this is a mobile game port that they force you to click and drag instead of click to move thats why it's 6/10 i just think it's a very low effort port...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Completely lacking support for gamepad or keyboard support, super sluggish port.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →See the dev video above to get a feel for what this game is. It's sort of a love letter to the Lara Croft games. No need to rush or work your brain too hard. Just solve the medium puzzles and stroll right along. A VERY enjoyable casual game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is such a pleasant puzzle game. It's become a bit of a comfort game for me over the years, from my phone to the PSVita and now on PC. I'm sure I'll play through it again in a few more years.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lara Croft GO, developed by Square Enix Montréal and published by Crystal Dynamics, reimagines the legendary Tomb Raider franchise through the lens of a turn-based puzzle game. Instead of explosive action set-pieces and third-person shooting mechanics, this game leans into quiet, methodical gameplay, offering a thoughtful experience that strips Lara's world down to its essentials—exploration, danger, and clever problem-solving. It’s a bold reconfiguration of the series that still manages to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rating: 8.5/10 The better of the two GO games. Lara Croft GO is an isometric turn based puzzler based on the universe of Lara Croft. (This game is actually animated where Hitman GO wasn't.) The aesthetic art of the game is pleasing to look at despite how simplistic it is. There are somewhere around fifty levels (just a guess, I didn't count), and most levels are broken into several smaller puzzle screens where you have to press switches, kill snakes, lure salamanders, etc. All of the different…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very beautiful and cool step-by-step puzzle, where you need to calculate in advance where you will go and what to do to solve it. There are vases that need to be broken to find and collect the relic completely + it is good that this game has hints that will help you if you are stuck and cannot decide what to do. My rating: ✭✭✭✭✰

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I picked up Lara Croft GO during the Tomb Raider 30th Anniversary Sale for less than $3 AUD, and it took me approximately five hours to complete the game and earn every achievement. This was my first experience with anything remotely associated with the Tomb Raider franchise, and I quite enjoyed the brief time I spent with it. Lara Croft GO is a beautiful, cosy, turn-based puzzle game featuring the franchise’s iconic protagonist. While it doesn’t contribute anything particularly significant…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great and fun. I love Lara Croft games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Here's what you do: This is a puzzle game where every time you take a step, everything else moves, mainly enemies and rolling boulders. You can take out most enemies by walking into them from their back or their side which is when Lara will use her guns to take them out (apparently her guns have very short range). The walkable space is drawn out as lines. Additional tools and puzzle interactions are introduced, such as a spear you can throw to hit an enemy at any distance as long as they are in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game. The visuals and soundtrack give the whole adventure a relaxing atmosphere, while solving the later puzzles feels genuinely satisfying. It’s a bit short and doesn’t offer much replay value, but I had a good time from start to finish.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3.5 / 5 It has deeper mechanics than a simple mobile game but much less content than modern pc games. It’s a good game, with some interesting puzzles, but it feels unfinished and small. The base game is too easy, and I finished it almost mindlessly, like a tutorial, but the game shines in the two DLCs, where the difficulty of puzzles is much greater, and I spend much more time solving them than in the base game. Each DLC brings a few new mechanics that add an interesting twist to the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lara Croft GO voice-controlled, using VoiceAttack youtu.be/x2m1s06o73I A comfy turn-based puzzle game (which while released in 2016, was not about collecting Lara Crofts). The movement mechanic was reasonable to code because it worked on relative mouse movements, wherever the cursor happened to be.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stylish Tomb Raiding Lara Croft GO is all about clever puzzle-solving, gorgeous visuals, and smooth turn-based movement. The loop of navigating ancient ruins, dodging traps, and outsmarting deadly creatures feels like a brilliant digital board game. It’s simple to pick up, but mastering the later levels requires sharp spatial awareness and careful planning. Watching a complex, multi-step trap click into place perfectly never gets old. While the relatively short runtime and lack of random…
