Yesterday is a 2012 graphic adventure game developed by the Spanish company Pendulo Studios and published by Focus Home Interactive. It follows the story of John Yesterday, a man hired to investigate the murder of homeless people in New York City. What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 189 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (862 of 1,035 positive).
Players praise the dark, occult-themed story and comic-book visuals. [1][2][3] Many find the game short, with some puzzles being unintuitive. [4][5][6] Some reviewers note technical issues like crashes and audio bugs. [7][8]

Point and click games sometimes fall into the trap of bashing stuff against other stuff until it works. With this game EVERY item is like that. And, it needs to be in the right order even though you know X fits into Y. Senseless stupidity, at least there's a hint button. Dialog lines never lead to what you thought they would. 2d art is good, 3d is awful. Nothing more to say about this.

This game is surprisingly dark and good! In the beginning, I wasn't impressed with the story and wasn't sure where it was going, but the second part of the game was amazing. The first part of the story set a year before the events. A young man, Henry White who dedicated his time to a charity organization to help homeless people. He and his friend Cooper went to investigate the secret behind the disappearance of …

Yesterday is a classic point-and-click adventure with a dark storyline told in a unique comicbook style that came out in 2012. The puzzles for the most part are inventory based, i.e. you need to find and combine items. Fortunately, there's no pixel hunting required and if you still manage to miss something, there is a hotspot viewer and a good hint system. The game is pretty linear although there are a few instances …

Short satanic cult-themed point’n’click, heavily interspersed with cinematic cutscenes. It’s a looker but not without problems. Like every Pendulo game out there, “Yesteday” hits the spot visually with absolute ease. Colorful yet soft-hued backgrounds will serve as a perfect vehicle for a surprisingly dark, intense story. Progress is built on exhausting dialogue options, examining your surroundings and extensive use …

Damn yesterday was short As a fan of point&click adventure games i found out that Pendulo games are kind of hidden gems, although rough around the edges. They have nice stories, characters and graphics to my liking but they usually lack a little in gameplay. Puzzles are way to hard in some of their games or they don't make sense and Yesterday is no exception. It's a nice traditional point&click game. Like always you …

Critics, per Wikipedia
The game received "mixed or average" reviews, according to the review aggregation website Metacritic. Alasdair Duncan of Destructoid wrote in his review that, "Impressive effort with a few noticeable problems holding it back. Won't astound everyone, but is worth your time and cash." Chris Watters of GameSpot wrote, "Yesterday's unsteady narrative is disappointingly brief, though solid puzzles and nice visuals make it a pleasant diversion." Richard Cobbett of GameSpy wrote, "Even with its cliches, Yesterday probably looked good on paper. It's a comic-book-style thriller about a mysterious amnesiac (take a shot), which takes the graphical charm of the Runaway games and pushes them into the…

A couple of times when I've played Dynasty Warriors with my girlfriend (who has ADHD diagnosis), I noticed that she would be literally running in circles having absolutely no idea where she was. She's not a gamer and controlling the camera can be finnicky for someone who isn't used to dual analogs, so there's that, but she also has trouble reading the minimap. Yesterday I've had her play Crash Bandicoot 3 and she got "lost" in…

VERY dark and definitely had its moments in which I didn't want to linger but the story alone was so worth it, and the mystery aspects kept me engaged. (oh and the area with the monk; that was cool I say, play it, it reminded me of the broken sword .

positive · AI labelView post →60/100 A decent experience for a thrifty price. This game is a simple point and click adventure with the unusual treat of good attempts at story and characterization. I think the story itself might have been best served as a graphic novel for its linearity and also because it feels a bit incomplete. With gameplay functioning on logic, any off-the-cuff elements that betray the atmosphere of a certain location or puzzle always lead me to think that something was lost in translation, or could…

This compels the use of a walkthrough, which just turns the game into a process of material reference, rather than enjoying the game.
