It’s not a bad game, and I appreciate what it’s aiming for: a fast-paced 4X with streamlined mechanics that avoid being overly simplistic. The art style has a certain charm, and the varied victory conditions are both well thought out and refreshingly original. Unfortunately, some design choices get in the way of that intended speed. Unit movement is quite slow, making traversal feel sluggish even on tiny maps. To …

The game is ... complicated. I like the idea, the general gameplay, the graphics are also fine for this setting and it's a nice casual game. BUT: The gameplay exacerbates the bugs. For instance, you cannot save manually, every turn there is an automatic save. So far, so good. Problem is, when the turn end is bugged and you're in an endless loop. The only way out: Restart the whole map. The amount of times I had to …

TL;DR - This game takes the best parts of small-scale 4x games like Polytopia, Ozymandias, and Hexarchy, and combines them into an incredibly well executed bite-sized game that scratches the Civ itch perfectly. THE GOOD First off, the visuals are incredible. The art style is absolutely perfect for this type of game. Playing matches feels like looking at a little woven or crocheted tapestry of soldiers and cities. …

Brisk, accessible 4x gameplay set around the Fall of Rome. Part of me wants to calls this 4x beer-and-pretzels gameplay because of how quickly the game moves along and how easy it is to pick up the game, but there is also good depth and subtlety to play. Lots of updates and improvements planned and that ultimately will determine a final rating of this game, but I've really enjoyed my 10+ hours with the game so far. …

I've been waiting for this release, hoping it would bring back the same magic as early versions of Sid Meier's Civilization games, before they became boring. My first impression is that despite my high expectations, Yield! really brings back some of that magic that I haven't experienced in many years. The gameplay is intuitive and exciting, which is a rare combination these days. The mood of the game brings back fond memories of the golden days of computer games in the late 1980s and 1990s,…

RANKING: AVOID | FLAWED | MAYBE | WORTHWHILE | COMPELLING | UNMISSABLE SYNOPSIS: ASSESSMENT: Yield! Fall of Rome is a microcosm of civ-like gameplay with a narrow focus & an intentionally low ceiling due to its 'historical' ancient era focus. Played on small crowded maps with turn-limited scenarios, streamlined features ensure fast-paced sessions that are a lot of fun, but over rather quickly. Despite an abundance of content, game modes are samey & the experience repetitive due…

The game didn't meet my expectations, but it might be interesting for other players. It feels like a casual/mobile game and is quite expensive for its content compared to other existing 4X strategy games. The game seems to be under-complex, which means that the individual missions can be completed in a fairly short time, but the gameplay also quickly becomes repetitive. Often the best strategy is a very aggressive playstyle by ruhsing the enemies. It doesn't have anywhere near the depth and…

Game not ready for release, too Alpha still. Unable to properly navigate in game during play, to scroll the map only the middle mouse button works, this game is almost forcing keyboard use for a Battle of Polytopia wanna be. Negative review until out of Early access and addresses the following: UI is Bad. Font size is too small and the towns are a bit awkward to click through. No engaging element to "upgrading" other than a point and click a small icon. What is up with the civilizations in the top right? Barely noticeable. The difficulty settings and "details" are going to be the bread and butter if this game is going to be successful. There was zero challenge on the hardest difficulty in a single player game…

This is a fast paced civ style game that rewards short term strategic thinking because the games are pretty fast. I played for a bit on both PC and my steam deck and it plays really well on the deck. In my opinion, this is a deal for $20 or cheaper if on sale.

After blindly slogging through the first 2 missions of the tutorial campaign the third throws combat at you with no explanation of how combat works. Your units have attack and def numbers and there are biome modifiers. How these things work together or the effects they will have is anyone's guess. The tutorial is lacking, any instructions you may glean from the "great library" don't clarifier what the tutorial stated much more. I have been unable to find any explanation elsewhere online as to…

Thank you, devs, for the amazing experience that this game brings us! It has been a long time since a great 4X game came out, and finally, it is here. A small suggestion for now is to implement a UI scaler or add some type of anti-aliasing to the UI because it looks way too sharp. Also, the number of movement steps your units have after they walk is not very clear for players (e.g., a unit has 2 steps, and after I make 1 move, I can no longer walk for some reason). Other than this, I am…

For me, this game hits a really sweet spot between Historical Civ x 4X but with more of a casual sandbox feel. My favorite games in these genres are Old World, Endless Legend, but sometimes don't have the time or mental energy to grind through a long or complex game. For a $10 US game, there's a ton of variety, replayability, different faction abilities all wrapped in an aesthetically-pleasing art style, great details, solid music and sounds and buttery smooth animations and gameplay.…

Yield! Fall of Rome plunges players into the chaotic final days of the Western Roman Empire. You take on the role of generals, barbarian leaders, or political forces trying to either save or sabotage Rome from within and without. It mixes historical drama with strategic tension, making the decline of Rome a compelling game narrative. Players have unique abilities and goals depending on their faction (Romans, Huns, Goths, etc.), adding variety and replayability. The game uses real historical…

Pretty damn boring. You're honestly better off playing either Hexarchy or just straight up playing civ on the fastest game speed if you want something like civ but faster... None of my decisions just feel like they carry any weight. Your city placement doesn't matter much. Your units are bland (Romans don't even look Roman). Your unit improvements are bland Game map looks bland. I just feel like I'm going around randomly upgrading tiles in my borders without having to prioritize one over the…

Yield Fall of Rome: in this turn-based 4X strategy game! I picked up the game and must say that, for a quick fix of civilization-type gaming, it delivers. Yield! Fall of Rome offers a refreshing twist on the 4X formula by narrowing its focus to shorter, more intense campaigns set during one of history’s most turbulent eras. Instead of presenting a sprawling empire builder where hundreds of turns pass before anything meaningful happens, the game emphasizes urgency. You are thrust into the chaotic world of 401 AD, a time when Rome’s stability is crumbling and surrounding factions are circling like wolves. This backdrop gives every decision…

As an old 4X gamer, going back to CIV 1, this game is a breath of fresh air. I don't have the patience anymore for a 30+ hour 4X game, so I love that I can play a scenario in 1-4 hours. No bugs so far, and the AI seems adequate. Good variety of nations with distinctive troops. Love the random map skirmish mode. Lots of ways to win via VPs. Very attentive Developers on Discord. Early access game but lots more content coming soon. Highly recommended.

Personally i would not recommend the game at its current state, especially with the balance of certain factions, and how strong certain units can be like the Balista and how the AI spams them...Other then that there is a lack of proper diversity with the factions. Plus that you cannot select your save games or simply restart your game is a big no! Maps generation ain't great either...Besides all this, the game is playable fun idea and mechanics. Ill be giving this game a 7/10

A good starter 4X Strategy sim for anyone looking to get into strategy but also equally challenging for fans of the genre. Similar in some ways to the "Civilisation" (CIV) series of games where you put down a main base or settlement and construct buildings, train troops and bring in resources to not only keep your people happy, but to upgrade and expand. General game-play is moving your units 1 or more squares at a time, capturing sites or gaining resources, you can trade or attack anyone you…

I have completed the intro and weekly campaign and 7 challenges so far and a few skirmishes in 13 hours. I am planning to do all the challenges for each civ (70 in total?) Nice little 4x game. Very fast pased, pushes you to finish the game sooner, but has some depth in development as well. If you like adjacency bonuses in civ6, you will likely enjoy this as well. Amazing visual style, low system requirements. Mutliplayer games with 5 people will around 2 hours with very fast timer. The only minus for me: leaders seem pretty similar, but maybe i need to test a little more on this aspect Do recommend to play solo or with friends

I have played countless of hours, not only because I want to support the developers but also because I really enjoy playing this game. This game is excellent. I am a long time Civ fan who has been playing since Civ I. (7 is horrendous, though.) I am also a big fan of Polytopia and Hexarchy. This seems to be a mash up of these games and it is super fun. The graphics are very pleasing and the campaigns have been fun. A little more faction distinction would be nice but they are all interesting so far. I would love to see Nubia or Axum. Looking forward to more. This is a great start. ^^

Yield has all of the fun of games like civilization and condenses it down into smaller more time friendly sizes. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it does manage to be just as fun without taking requiring a long time to learn. Perfect for gaming when you love the genre, but don't have the time to play one round for hours on end.

_Yield_ is my sort of game. Game play is deliberate. This is not a twitch game. Player decisions are meaningful and resilient, i.e. poor choices are rarely devastating, The economic and military aspects of the game are clear and interact well. The unit icons are crisp, distinct and clearly convey their function. _Yield_ ain't Civ-X, but if a pre-Medieval 4X game with high replaybility intrests then you I most certainly reccommend _Yield_

Started off well then i just keep getting attacked with no chance to do anything but lose. Horrendous purchase. Cannot seem to trade even though i choose Roman policies my trade is attacked on the way to their capital. No chance of agreement or trade with anyone else and i've not gotten over the first campaign yet!!!! Poor poor poor
