What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 172 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (4,225 of 5,069 positive).
Many reviewers recommend the Link Evolution version instead, citing more content and fewer issues. [1][2][3][4]

This game crashes so much. I honestly cant recommend it for that alone. There are also card interactions that dont work like they should, but really, its the crashing thing that is the main problem.

its quite frustrating cause this game can be really fun and scratches that itch for casual duals against the AI, but it seems to be abandoned by the devs and it just keeps randomly crashing regardless of what i do to fix it, while its slightly more stable running in admin mode the only proper fix i have found is launching the game then disconnecting the internet from my computer or ROG ally and playing that way once …

Summoned Exodia against Kaiba, instantly crashed the game. 10/10, true to anime

Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist is one of those games that hits purely on nostalgia, and honestly, that’s most of the reason it works. If you grew up playing Yu-Gi-Oh as a kid, booting this up feels like flipping through an old binder of cards you half-remember owning. Replaying the anime duels in story mode is easily the best part of the game, and it does a solid job of letting you relive those moments without …

This game is the BEST Yu-Gi-Oh! Game out there! If you are a fan of the Anime, THIS is the game for you! You get to play all those matches you watched happen and feel like YOU are the character. It even takes you through each episode in order. You can choose with ERA you wanna play, too. It's also a good way to learn the new mechanics of Yu-Gi-Oh! before jumping into the deep waters that is competitive/sweaty …

Critics, per Wikipedia
GameZone said "Hardcore fans of Yu-Gi-Oh! will undoubtedly find a lot to love in this card battling simulator. While it is quite bare bones when it comes to visuals, its simplicity allows for faster-paced gameplay". Push Square said "Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist is the ultimate version of arguably one of the best card duelling games on the planet. Essentially a virtual version of the real thing, it probably won't entice those who don't like the franchise, but for die-hard fans and interested newcomers, this is a game that offers unlimited hours of battling fun. If you've ever enjoyed Yu-Gi-Oh!, you owe it to yourself to give this a chance".

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Card pack opening, GO! Earlier this year I played a lot of card-related games like "TCG Card Shop Simulator" and "Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution", which led to @theslateguardian.bsky.social surprising me with this fun art. #furry #furryart #yugioh

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There comes a time in every man’s life when he needs to look in the mirror and ask himself how exactly he got to that place. You have to truly reflect on the decisions you have made along the path that led you to the place of your final reckoning. It’s still not clear, even to me, why I bought Yu‑Gi‑Oh! Legacy of the Duelist. There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s a perfectly solid recreation of the card game, packed with thousands of cards and entire story campaigns from the anime. But when you…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Steam is probably the best platform for gaming on Linux right now. Here are some games I recommend that run well on Linux: - Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (the spiritual successor of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night) - Romancing SaGa 3 (retro JRPG that involves non-linear, open-world exploration) - Octopath Traveler 2 (another JRPG; you don't need to play the first game in the series to enjoy this game) - Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist Link Evolution (not a freemium game!)
neutral · AI labelView post →funny seeing comments about this game's online features being dead lol, this game is from 2016 and it's generationally locked in. Master duel, duel links, ygopro etc exist if you want to play against other people. If youre complaining cause you want to play against other people but want to use cards from these formats, you'll have to find a group online and do like ygopro duels or something unfortunately. If you buy this game, it is for PURE nostalgia, and basically for love of the yugi-verse.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very good yu gi oh game, lots of cards and duels (following the anime story) but i recommend the ""sequel"" legacy of the duelist: link evolution. it has 1 more arc story and it already includes every fight/dlc that this one has to offer. dlc are not required for 100% achievements

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who has played YuGiOh since I was a kid, I think this and Link Evolution are great ways to get back into the game and safely learn the rules of the game without dealing with Meta Decks, cheaters, an army of negates, and everything more difficult that normally turns players off of the game. However, i do recommend you get the Link Evolution version more since that is closer to modern YuGiOh as it is played at time of writing. If you grew up with the anime and want a recap of the…

neutral · AI labelView post →I also played Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution today. Made progress on some of the duels I was stuck on. I have hit another wall where none of my strategies seem to work, though.
neutral · AI labelView post →the prompt between ever action for traps is so annoying and holding to skip risks missing the trigger when you need it. edit: after more playing it gets worse i spent a hour opening packs, then next time i logged in it undid all my progress with the packs. it kept my progress on the campaign though, but now that just wasted so much more of my time i would never recommend this pile of sh*t game to anyone. EDIT 2: the game blatantly cheats its very clear konami is run by nepobabie because they…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone whose TCG experience is like, 90% M:TG, the existence of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist games feels insane to me. 10,000+ cards and a fully featured singleplayer campaign alongside (now sadly non-functional) online? M:TG would *never* do something like that.
positive · AI labelView post →Don't buy this, buy link evolution instead, its the same game with more content and for less money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How can every PS2 game be 10x better than this thing. Looks like a flash game in your browser. Even mobile games have more worked animations and UI. Just shame for yugioh games, and I paid for it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s a shame that the card list for Legacy of the Duelist is so outdated now, especially with Master Duel becoming the go-to for online meta Yu-Gi-Oh! matches. That said, I honestly think Legacy of the Duelist is the most fun for casual fans—especially for people who want to emulate the anime’s iconic duels in the actual trading card game. Previous Yu-Gi-Oh! games have tried to do this to some degree, but they often relied on gimmicks, forced you to insert your own deck, or made you grind like…

Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution Z is Zelda II: The Adventure of Link Weird to think the ABC challenge is almost over. Glad to have stuck to it even though this year has been all over the place. Golden Axe II was still the worst.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nostalgia at its best and a lot of solo content we like to see!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun way to relive the story of the yugioh anime. I like it over duel links in terms of gameplay because it actually has normal yugioh rules.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game with tons of content! online is dead but the Achievements are easy to get!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fan of the anime and games like master duel and duel links but sadly this Game crashes a lot for me. Multiple crashes in the third duel of the game and from what ive seen it has to do with the AI thinking and trying to play. gonna try the newer legacy of the duelist and see if there is better luck there.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crashes often! May be a fun game, but it keeps crashing, making it so frustrating, when progressing and having to start a duel over, sometimes several times until you end the duel quick enough so it doesn't crash,
