Yeah, nah... Game looks well made but I fail to see the "good gameplay" people praise it. Roboquest, Gunfire Reborn or even Immortal Redneck feel better to play than this. Gameplay simply isn't satisfying. What makes this game hard is simply the fact that as a roguelite, health recovery isn't abudant and you're bound to lose some of your health constantly due to enemies spawning everywhere, small arenas, somewhat …

#Early Review - 14 Hours / Chapter 5 Ziggurat 2 is a first person shooter rogue lite with a hexen aesthetic. It generally pulls this of very well. Pros: - A Campaign this time! Progressively harder/longer runs. So far 2 side missions (of many) then a main mission. - There is still a one-off run-based rogue-like mode. - A Daily run - Buttery smooth and blazingly fast - A good assortment of wands and staffs and spells …

Ziggurat 2 takes the fundamentals of the first-person shooter and reshapes them around the unpredictable progression of a roguelite dungeon crawler. Developed and published by Milkstone Studios, it puts players in the role of powerful spellcasters belonging to a magical order dedicated to protecting humanity from supernatural dangers. Instead of following a straightforward sequence of scripted stages, the adventure revolves around repeated expeditions into dangerous dungeons where enemies,…

Roguelites have issues with balancing builds, how you build them and their consequences, and you often end killing your run, or completely trivialise the game. You come to expect that and it becomes part of the fun, figuring out the interactions, learning and theorycrafting, finding ways you can salvage from poor RNG earlier in a run (which feels very rewarding when it happens), but I felt none of that here. Most weapons, upgrades, characters, abilities, felt inconsequential beyond some minor…

Unfortunately feels incredibly lacking and repetitive with the same bells and whistles of a free to play mobile game. The screen constantly flashes pop ups at you and opening chests provides the momentary anticipation of opening a gacha pull or loot crate. I remember enjoying the first Ziggarut game but the successor doesn't hold up, possibly because of it's significantly short dungeons or perhaps because the game hasn't moved on since 2014. Some problems of note - All the weapons feel bad to…

It's actually very weak. The crux of the game is: enter small locked room that might be an open arena, or it might have some columns or a looping figure 8 shape. Small, very small. Monsters spawn, you shoot them all, then you go to another room. Fights are annoying because you have to defeat a "monster bar" worth of enemies, and they just randomly spawn around as you dispatch other ones. So... you can't even really strategically use map control, carefully choose cover, or anything even…

The art style is the only good thing about this game. The level design is boring, just a bunch of interconnected empty arenas, and you have to backtrack. Nothing to do beside fighting. Finding the three blue keys is a slog that gets old very quickly. The traps and environmental hazards are more annoying than challenging. The monsters feel very random, they are unrelated to each level theme. Why are there evil carrots in an ice cave or frozen warriors in ancient Egypt ? Each level feels the…

A decent shooter but a weak rogue-like. Combat is fairly slick and impressive in terms of raw game-feel, but it just doesn't have enough drama/suspense to carry the experience. Most of the time I find myself using my best weapon and simply circle-strafing around the arena until all the enemies are dead. I think the core problem is that runs are lacking in meaningful progression. The decisions you make within a run don't feel very impactful, and the general stakes of combat don't feel like they…

I regeret wasting time on this game. I guess it's not THAT bad, but if you played something like Roboquest or Gunfire Reborn - this game doesn't stand a chance, not even remotely close. Pros: - visuals are good. colors are vibrant, locations are identical but not annoying, monster design is fine too. - arsenal is interesting. guns, staves, wands, magic books - all are different and fun to use (at least those that I unlocked during my 4h playtime) - movement is fast. even without sprinting, you…

Has some great rogue-like elements but ultimately suffers from feeling too same-ey between runs. There are no unique item interactions with character upgrades, everything is just incremental stat boosts. Needs item interactions like Binding of Isaac or some other rogue likes in this vein to keep stuff interesting and fun.

Just like Ziggurat 1 but better! Let me clarify: - better graphics, though the 3d models of heroes are a bit more cartooney and this might throw some people off a bit - fluid motion mechanics, very fast pace just like the previous game - added a dash mechanic (just like Doom) which makes the battle a bit more interesting but it's rather useless in small rooms - added more lore to the game, some kind of backstory, that makes it slightly more interesting but doesn't affect the whole game…

Ziggurat 2 is a mess: almost every single aspect of its game-play is flawed. Rooms are very often a completely random set of features creating a non-sensical, hellish and claustrophobic landscape. Maybe if you could take the time to learn their layout, it'd be better but instead you fight in each room and then go to the next ugly-mess of a room for the next fight, rinse-and-repeat every couple-minutes or so. Visual delivery is terrible: more often than not I go past chests and challenges…

A surprisingly fun and addictive roguelite FPS that uses magic instead of typical rifles and pistols. A lot of weapon/spell variety and a game that actually feels right be regularly switching between weapons to keep the flow of battle going. Super fast movement and enough playmodes to keep things fresh while respecting your time via multiple options for session playlength and challenge level. One of the best underrated Roguelike shooters in existence. Funny how recent reviewers complain about things this game never tried to be. This isn't a looter-shooter, there's more emphasis on player skill and creating fun cohesive weapon combinations. The weapons in this game are super unique and fun, reminds me of classic Turok games.

A standard rogue-like formula of a game. New Players: Ziggurat 2 is an FPS rogue-like where you play as a hero with magical abilities, who goes on a dungeon run to obtain XP, magical weapons and perks to fight the bosses of each floor. Ziggurat 2 drags you back into roguelite drudgery as some wide-eyed wizard wannabe, slogging through endless, identical ziggurats swarming with brain-dead golems and recycled elemental trash. The combat? A sloppy mess of wand-waving that feels like mashing buttons in a fever dream—fireballs fizzle out, lightning perks glitch like they're allergic to fun, and co-op just amplifies the frustration with desync disasters. Ziggurat 2 is a solid roguelite FPS that builds greatly on the first. There's a campaign mode where you play through 3 different kinds of levels to unlock 10 classes (plus the base 2) and around a billion different weapons. A vast improvement on the original game in basically everyway. Ziggurat 2 if the title of the game wasn't obvious, is the sequel to the Roguelike FPS, Ziggurat. Developed by Milkstone Studios it seemingly takes places after the first game as a new threat has completely annihilated the Brotherhood and now the remnants strive to rebuild and fight back against the threats plaguing the land. The inclusion of a campaign mode really, really improves the overall quality and addictiveness of the game. The alchemy weapons also feel very different, and much more satisfying. Fantastic sequel to an already excellent game. The additional variety in terms of environments helps immensely as well. The only thing that should be better, at least so far in my experience, is that the bosses are pretty repetitive. Better boss variety would be a serious improvement.

TL:DR; Second verse, same as the first- but a little better in every way. classic Doom with wizards and roguelike character building. I quite liked Zig 1, it blended arena shooter and roguelike mechanics in a surprisingly elegant way early on into the rouge-like boom years. Ziggurat 2 is a fast, fun roguelite shooter with great visuals and satisfying combat. It can get a bit repetitive, but the smooth gameplay loop, vibrant graphics, and ton of things to unlock keep me coming back. There’s always something new to chase, making it a solid and enjoyable experience overall.

This game is fun, fast paced, and repeatably entertaining. While I did get tired of the same enemies eventually, it took over 60 hours. For less then 10 buck on sale it was well worth it.
