What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 180 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (2,798 of 3,197 positive).
Many players find the drifting satisfying and rewarding once mastered. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the game is difficult to learn and lacks proper tutorials. [4][5][6] Several players appreciate the minimalist art style and chill soundtrack. [7][3][8]

The controls are not explained at all and the tutorial is extremely barebones. If you dont already have a firm grasp of the intricacies of drifting, dont bother playing this game because it uses a lot of them and explains almost nothing. It wants to be a sim but gives you no sim information, having a ui more akin to an arcade game. If you want to change any settings at all, you have to quit your race, then exit to …

it took me six years of off and on play, but perfecting this game is one of my coolest accomplishments in a video game. i love this game, plus art of rally, and they both lead to a sense of flow that only some of the best games can create, like tetris. this game is absolutely worth perfecting

You ever finished a game that made you go "Man, that was awesome! I am now going to uninstall and never touch this game ever again for trauma reasons!" Absolute Drift is that game for me. I've 100%ed the game while getting at least top 30% on most of the tracks. It's a game I highly recommend getting, especially on a sale. Anyway, here are some more thoughts on the game. What I Liked The Cars This game has a small …

I came to review after I saw it had mixed reviews, because I think it deserves I higher rating. I played this game on PS4 when it came out forever ago on PS+. Got randomly reminded of it when I saw it on steam and got it to 100% it cause I liked it so much. At it's core, it's a game about learning it's drift mechanic. I don't know how they did it, but it really hits the simple controls with high skill ceiling that …

It’s a short game and easy to 100%. When you hit a perfect drift and your car just glides through the corners... absolute bliss. Simple, satisfying fun.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →REVIEW AFTER 100%ing it :) I did not have fun with this game at first playing it on keyboard, I thought it was super hard and not fun so I put it away thinking I'd never play it again, until recently I had the urge to play it again this time with a controller and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ felt so smooth and fun once you got those controls down! Some of the even challenges we're a bit challenging but all around a really fun game and a great way to kill some time

Overall Rating - Unplayable Trash ☆☆☆☆☆ First Impressions While looking through games from my library, I was in pretty high spirits as I looked at Absolute Drift Zen Edition (AD). negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →theres 3 main things that make this negative 1. The ghosts are the exact same opacity as yourself so you cant tell which one is you (big problem) 2. the top-down angle makes it extremely difficult to predict anything about the car. Not helped by the fact i'm usually a hood view driver, makes the controls feel super inconsistent. 3. The game is marketed as more of a chill game but its one of those try > fail > retry > fail > retry.. to get a good highscore And the cherry on top is that the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s ok. Drifting is not very satisfying. Definitely not worth 12 bucks, maybe 2
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hard to master, master to stay hard. Great game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →looks like a relaxing game, not at all relaxing
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A truly beautiful game, especially if you like racing!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Absolute Drift" just didn’t hit the mark. The concept is cool, but the execution? Meh. The car feels like it’s floating on ice, and drifting ends up being more of a chaotic slide than a satisfying maneuver. The tracks all blend together, and after a while, it just gets repetitive. Great idea, but nothing really keeps you hooked for long.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its not even funny how bad I am at this game. Still pretty satisfying when you can carry a long drift, too bad I mostly spin out or hit a wall
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is the opposite of Zen. I've never been more stressed out by drifting controls, it is not new player friendly. You really need to spend some time figuring out the controls, and then throw that out when the controls just randomly reverse themselves on a crash...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good difficulty level, can get frustrating but worth it when you figure out what you're doing wrong.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game i got for 1.99$ I figured it would be a drift game with a few tracks and free mode to mess around in but i was surprised to see there is a lot of things you can do in the game more than i had expected. It doesn't take long to beat if you put your mind to it but overall a very good game for the price i had paid! Beat it within hours on record. 10/10

neutral · AI labelView post →Made by the same devs of art of rally! Love the Japanese vibe and the hoonigan references (RIP Ken). This game is easy to learn but hard to master, it takes a lot of practice but it is super rewarding, as a sim racer mainly (and also drifter), I quite enjoyed this game and the drift physics feel pretty accurate most of the time. Also I recommend to turn off the steering assist, it helps but you get so much more control when you turn it off and it feels more raw (and you the one controlling…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →**★★★★★** *Absolute Drift* is one of those games that's simple to pick up but incredibly satisfying to master. The controls feel smooth and responsive, and every successful drift feels rewarding as you improve your precision. The minimalist art style gives the game a clean, relaxing look, while the soundtrack perfectly complements the laid-back atmosphere. What I enjoyed most is that the game doesn't overwhelm you with unnecessary features. It focuses entirely on the driving mechanics, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game. The top-down art style looks great and the driving feels tight. My problem is me: I'm bad at drifting and I don't have the hours to grind out clean lines. That's not the game's fault. If you have some time to practice, or you're just naturally good at this stuff, buy it. The core is solid and the fun is real once it clicks.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is unplayable on controller. the steering, which is the whole point of the game is terrible.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hard to recommend unless you get it at a sizable discount. only one car (white), racing on white background. in top-down driving games, controls get very frustrating when they get mirrored, would be better with a choice of different control scheme (see how Lonely Mountain does it). also maybe add a noob mode with an onscreen input guide for better timing and steering hints.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hard to get good at but yet still enjoyable. You can kinda just chill and play this give you brain a break
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This what the streets will look like if someone leaks my hard-drive
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It plays fine but the white background is visually exhausting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I own this game on PlayStation, Switch and PC. I've beaten it on all three. Few things are finer, more satisfying than Absolute Drift with just the right amount of flow. The downtempo track fades, the drum and bass starts hitting, the lines are clean, the tire marks immaculate. you gotta have sauce. if you don't have sauce, you're lost.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprisingly frustrating. I tried changing the control settings to about a dozen different configurations and I couldn't find one that made the car fun to drive. The physics feel strange, almost like the car is FWD and dragging the rear; there's obviously an exaggerated [lack of] handling to make the drifting "easier." However, it's EXTREMELY easy to spin out or end up in a hairpin turn that absolutely ruins events.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this game as a steam key from a fanatical mystery bundle and let me tell you this game has a 10 out of 10 soundtrack and amazing gameplay it's hard and unforgettable fun I loved it I'm going to play it on the steam deck religiously
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've also just found out that, by happy coincidence, @jairmcbain.bsky.social has been involved in three of my favourite indie games of recent memory - Mini Metro, Absolute Drift, & the aforementioned Art of Rally. Amazing. <3
positive · AI labelView post →The gameplay is good but the UI is not. The text is so tiny. I might be able to read it if I was playing sat directly in front of a monitor but this is a casual game so it's on a TV across the room. No UI or text scaling options. I haven't been able to read a single help text and I can't see any of the points or what multiplier level I'm on in game. There may be other helpful things being displayed, I literally don't know, can't see them. Also the audio only has two controls, music and sound…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Takes a second to get used to the drifting controls. Once you figure it out, this game is really lot of fun. I love the art style. It makes the game stand out just a bit from other racers of the same price. This is the type of game you can just pick up and get into immediately. It's easy to play, but hard to master.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game but holy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ god is this not for me. I have bad fine muscle control, when i want a 2 i can give anything between a 1 and a 4 and that is just such a bad fit for the gentle controlling needed for this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun satisfying drifting game. Simple concepts done right.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Horrible. The devs have taken something that could have been so good and turned it into an exercise in frustration. Perhaps there is a difficulty setting that I have missed but there is currently nothing 'zen' about this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It should have been fun but felt boring, pointless. I tried to like it. Maybe if they did more stuff to unlock or cars
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The beautiful morning zen was shattered by the bellow of an unregistered drift. I hate the perfect drift lines with a burning passion. Enjoyed every bit of this game until I meet that stupid requirement. Sometimes it registers me drifting despite my car being fully straight, other times it doesn't count me holding an angle as a drift. Thank god Art of Rally was such a massive improvement over this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a solid 8/10. Playing it after getting bored/freaked out of all that stressful games is the best experience you can ever have. The sound and everything is so relaxing and the physics are beautiful. Only bad thing I saw it's a lot of events are very difficult
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →👓: Played a few games in my backlog today and reminded myself why they were in my backlog and not my "will play" log. Such as Absolute Drift Zen, a game about controlling the world's worst RC car to master drifting mechanics. Which are not functional controls. Kinda the damn point of a game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Physics are questionable but if you put time into learning this specific style it can be a fun satisfying game. I recommend cranking the steering sensitivity up and removing any assists. You can get away with automatic transmission until you get a feel for the physics and switch to manual when you're comfortable although not necessary.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After completing this game %100 I can say its worth a buy. Relaxing up until your try to complete everything, then you run into glitches with the tracks when you need to be perfect the most. Still worth the pain.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty chill game, very basic graphics but it feels good to drift. 3/5
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is great, the music and design are okay, less customization than I'd hoped, but the drifting is nice. The people saying it's too "floaty" or feels like "you're driving on ice" are just having skill issues. They clearly didn't play enough to know that there are different cars with different handling, the difficulty determines the grip/slipperiness of all cars (Easy for more grip, less slide. Hard for less grip, more slide, and Medium as an in between), and there is a steering…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a hard to learn hard to master game. But it's good :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good idea and have potential but the execution is bad though The game is very repetitive and the cars feels way floaty and unresponsive. I usually love car games but this one is very boring and soulless and I just couldn't find any fun it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love Absolute Drift. Once you get the hang of it, it's one of the most satisfying experiences ever. Me three favourite things are: the Music, the Visual Style, and the Handling. It's a perfect game for Steam Deck as well :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Came frome , art of rally , i regret nothing here too
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolute Recommendation.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The controls feels bad and that the whole point of the game sadly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little drifting game that is perfect for on the Steam Deck once you get the hang of it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did not enjoy the controls at all... Feels lost between keyboard and controller handling. Hard to master for sure. I enjoy the art of rally, but not this...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first time I tried to play this game I put it down after 20 minutes because of the handling. I just came back to it recently and stuck with it, my god it's a satisfying experience once you get the hang of it. It's a short game, about 7 hours to get 100% of achievements, but it's fun, challenging, and doesn't overstay its welcome or turn into a grind. I 100% recommend this to anyone who enjoys driving games.
