Captcha: the video game. Half of the story is good but the gameplay is unfortunately very bad. The vast majority of this game is filler. The puzzles have nothing to do with the story, are super easy and take an annoying amount of time to complete. Personally I think there is nothing worse then when I know I solved a puzzle but still have to go through the motions for ten minutes to finish. The deductions are either …

I'm a sucker for detective games, and I was planning on hammering through this one, like I did the last (Orient Express), and enjoying it. But, this story drags quite a bit, and found myself getting bored by the second chapter. The more opened scenery compared to the last game does not do this one any favors. It looks like someone loaded up a house/yard renovation sim and just started pasting generic objects all over the place. In the last game it was all in a confined environment of a train,…

First 6 chapters are pretty rubbish and gets somewhat okay once the murder happens. The biggest weakness of this game is the doubling down on the dual protagonist system. It was a drag in the orient express too but this game just makes it somehow worse with an awful plot that is weaved into the death on the nile. It adds literally nothing of value and the game would be much better paced if they removed the second protag (cant remember her name) and all of her story. I've played every Hercule…

*Update/Edit:* I’ve now finished the game, and I wanted to add more to my original review (which I wrote after completing just 4 chapters). I’ve played most of the Hercule Poirot games, and after seeing the full story through, I can confidently say it’s my favorite so far. If you enjoy detective games, you’ll definitely love this one. The game is packed with new features that really make the experience so fun. The eavesdropping mechanic adds a unique sense of immersion to the investigation,…

It's a neat idea to break up Poirot's case with a secondary detective, but Jane Royce's mystery just isn't that interesting and her gameplay sections are filled with stupid mandatory minigames and exploration segments that completely break the flow and are often more frustrating than fun. The animations are rough, music tracks often don't loop neatly, the voicework often comes across as a little flat (particularly in Royce's sections) and the environments look like they're from a game from a…

Baffling that they don’t allow you to skip through narrative scenes considering if you want to go back to a chapter you have to replay the whole thing. If you miss a mustache or record it would take ages to try and find them. So you either have to use a walkthrough, play the same chapter over again, or just give up on finding them all. It also took an hour of uninstalling and reinstalling, and starting new games to trigger “the ring” dialogue option for Charles. So the thought of doing the…

Excellent game that unfortunately I could not complete due to my disability (which is nobody's problem but mine of course). I was able to complete the chase sequence in the previous title (Murder on the Orient Express), but alas, there is too much spinning around in stairs in this title. I played Murder on the Orient Express back in 2024 and absolutely loved it, so jumping into Death on the Nile now feels like coming home to another classic Christie mystery. The atmosphere once again pulls me in right away, and setting the story in the 70s gives it a fresh and stylish twist. Poirot is as brilliant as ever, and introducing Jane Royce as a second playable character is a great addition that keeps things engaging. The puzzles so far strike the perfect balance – smart and satisfying…

This has been such a disapointment, I had really enjoyed the previous game (Murder on the Orient Express) but this one shows a significant decrease in quality. The gameplay is clunky/janky, from the difficulty going up/down ladders to the puzzles that require mouse movement but are incredibly hard to handle... there's definitely been less focus on quality for this entry. Puzzles themselves are OK, although there seems they have added a lot more of them in this entry just to keep the player…

Recommended Quick take A faithful, book-first mystery with new cases that feel right at home. You swap between Poirot and Jane across chapter-sized investigations, using a slick Mind Map and evolving Character Profiles to pin down alibis and motives. Cozy, clever, and perfect for handheld sleuthing. Why it clicked for me Respectful to Christie with fresh side cases that extend the story to over 20 hours Poirot and Jane keep the pace lively and the perspective fresh A good mix of…

Despite some negative comments which made me hesitate to buy this game, I actually really enjoyed it. I played it like a cozy game, walking around exploring and putting together a case. I think if you go in expecting hardcore detective work, you'll be let down. If you go in looking for a relaxing story, you'll like this. There are also quite a lot of puzzles which some might find tedious, but you can easily skip them by spamming for hints if you want to.

Not as good as the first one, but still enjoyable enough. I still refuse to accept the main character is the actual Hercule Poirot but I've leant to acknowledge him. Setting the action in 1970s was a good idea, it was an easy way to remove access to any required information via mobile phones. And it resulted in a fantastic soundtrack, the music is really good. The main issue is the game lacks focus. Jane, the new sidekick, is charismatic and interesting but her investigations have nothing to…

The 1970s setting is an interesting change, and playing as both Hercule Poirot and Jane Royce adds variety, but the overall experience felt a bit flat. The pacing was slow, and some of the dialogue and investigation segments felt repetitive. While the mystery itself has strong source material behind it, the gameplay did not always make the most of it. I would not strongly recommend it unless you are a big fan of detective games or Agatha Christie adaptations. For me, it did not quite capture…

The story and mistery is enjoyable but the gameplay has severe flaws. - very clunky movement - I kept being blocked walking stairs or random objects. The running is too slow for me. - Non skippable dialogs (even worse, some scene you can skip, it justs cuts the audio and continue playing the video) - A lot of the puzzles are fun to solve, but tedious to execute : ex the temple, the nurse's, the wine. The intermediate deductions are a bit hand-holding, I understand it makes you go through the…

Disappointing game. I enjoyed Murder on the Orient Express quite a lot, more than I thought I would. So I was hoping for that continued level of quality in this game. Sadly, it just isn't there. This game is let down on several fronts. First one in the series was pretty ok. There you did actual detective work. In this one. Tons of filler bs that got nothing to do with the story (or Poirot as a Detective) at all. ( A detective repairing a jukebox, a boat engine etc), and the newer ending chasing of golden moustache. (This isnt that bad though) Wait for a massive sale. As the little "real" story and its "detecting" isn't that bad.

I will leave a "thumbs up" because any effort to adapt Agatha Christie's work should be commended. But this game has its cons, and let me start with these : - Outdated graphical engine. I will not comment the graphical style, which is what it is (some will like it, some won't) but the engine itself makes me feel like I'm 15-20 years ago. - Poirot looks the same as in "Murder on the Orient Express", which means he doesn't look like Christie's Poirot at all. This is a flawed yet enjoyable game. Let's start with Jane Royce. This game really do need a sidekick for Poirot, and the devs thought it was a good idea to introduce someone with a flair for action, someone to take risk and spruce things up a bit. Jane would be a great character in a Bond game, but she is rather jarring in an Agatha Christie mystery. The only thing more jarring is Poirot himself, who now doubles as an archeologist, steam engine mechanic, jukebox repairman, etc. I can see the…

It's not terrible, but it's not good either. The game has a very strong opening, which means that you miss it during the rest of the game. As with the previous Poirot game, there's too many minigames (to a ridiculous degree) that detract from proper investigation and deduction. No, you don't need 4 minigames to repair a jukebox or for absolutely every suspect to own objects that can only be opened by solving a puzze. It gets tiring fast. The world itself is limited but fine. The real parts…

As a mystery game this was okay. The QOL was horrible. There is no excuse for a text based game to have NO skip dialogue option. I played 24 hours, but I easily could have finished it in 10 had I just been able to hit the spacebar and skip my character slowly repeating information I've already learned multiple times. And there is no "sprint" button, there is a "walk infinitesimally less slow" button. And that button is NOT a toggle, so enjoy holding down an additional button while walking…

Too many annoying puzzles. I'm here for the story, not unskippable puzzles.

Story line is pretty good, puzzles are nice, stairs are terrible. Also a Colt 45 is not a revolver. This game didn't fully live up to Orient Express as much as I wanted.
