What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 46 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (53 of 62 positive).
Players praise the collection for its faithful preservation of the original Amiga games. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the games are very much of their time and may not appeal to modern gamers. [4][5][6] Several players highlight the twin-stick controls and museum as standout features. [2][7][8]

This is a comprehensive collection of the Amiga-era games from the Alien Breed series -- including the demo versions of Alien Breed 3D that were sent to various magazines. It's nice to have everything in one place, but sadly I don't think it justifies the price being charged. These are 35 year old games after all, and they are very much of their time. The game design in the original Alien Breed and Special Edition …

Short review - IT IS BLOODY GLORIOUS Lomg review - these are faithful emulations of the original Amiga games, and they work perfectly. I am also surprised by how well the controller support works. I never thought that was what these games were missing. I just played AB3D with a controller, and I never thought I would say this, but I think I’ve finally found an FPS that plays best with a controller. I played the …

This is such an amazing collection. I love the virtual museum and figuring out how to unlock Horde mode was such a cool touch. The games seem tough at first but the two stick controls and saves make the games a good challenge. My favourite so far is Alien Breed 3D. Some people may not loke the resolution but I think its looks super stylised. The game feels like an indie collection of games in a 90s pixel art style, …

A very well done collection with enough options, extras, and enhancements to make this feel worthwhile even to someone who still plays all the Alien Breeds all the time on emulation or those rare times when I drag the hardware out. Keep in mind it's a collection, it's not Alien Breed Remastered or Alien Breed HD. These games ran 320×256 on 13 inch monitors usually, so especially the 3D games are going to look …

It does exactly what it says on the tin! The games run great, the way you navigate between the menus games and archive is really cool. So far I'm super happy. I'll update this once I've spent more time with it.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After 30 years of waiting, i finally have a computer that can actually install and run ab3d2kg (Alien Breed 3D II: Killing Grounds) 😁 This nearly melted my A1200 back in the day, but never ran besides that, played the demo first, problems I had with mouse not being locked to game on multi monitor are fixed in the paid version, so worth the pennies imo for the nostalgia.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →<disclaimer> I bought this package for "Alien Breed 3D" and "Alien Breed 3D 2: The Killing Grounds" only. This review is for these two games only. I don't care much about the top-down games. </disclaimer> Sorry to say this, but this looks a bit like a cash grab. I know it's not, but sadly this is what it looks like. I asked for a refund 10 minutes after purchase. Here's why: - No meaningful improvements. I was kind of expecting a 1x1 pixels in AB3D, which is what all AB3D fans were hoping…

neutral · AI labelView post →Unless you're the most devoted fan of the Alien Breed (like, sacrificing babies to it kinda zealous), I do not recommend this collection. It's not terrible. All the listed games work well and the controller support is nice. But these are just straight ports of 30+ year old games with barely any enhancements (optional or otherwise). The top-down games aged the best and can still be played as is (unless you don't have a controller. The keyboard controls are weied). But the two Doom-clones…

neutral · AI labelView post →This is a bit of a difficult one to review. If you are a modern gamer with no history with the Alien Breed games then you may struggle a bit with these. The 2d games are unforgiving - but deeply rewarding if you stick with them. The 3d games are low resolution Doom clones that may have you scratching your head wondering how anyone can play them. If you are already familiar with the Alien Breed games and owned them on the Amiga (like I did) then it's a different story. The 2d games are pretty…

neutral · AI labelView post →For me its awesome and exactly what i personally expected. I love the Museum section which contains some excellent and very interesting archives to go through. All the games run very well including Killing Grounds which you really needed a powerful Amiga back in the day. So far very happy but note these are the original Amiga Games ( Not Remakes ) 35 years old although with some nice bells and whistles so don't expect Alien Isolation. This is a Legacy release of the original games with some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I own an Amiga 500, 1200 and CD32. Most versions on all platforms of the original games and I still play them to this day but they somehow made a glorious true to the originals release that is even better due to dual stick controls. Kick ass intro and faultless, timeless gaming that is so slick on steam controller and the deck it feels like this should always have been the way it was. If you love the originals buy this now, don't think about it just do it! Its a homage to a glorious time in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you played these games (or wanted to, but couldn't because you didn't have AGA etc) it's a great purchase. I was hoping something similar to the C&C remaster that had the original look if you wanted, but also a modern touch but keeping the retro feel. Recommended if you played them back in the day and want that nostalgia hit or are curious to see how the 3D games were. If want a modern feel then as the others suggest, get the remakes (decent etc) or the GZDoom variant. Would also be…

Some people may not loke the resolution but I think its looks super stylised. The game feels like an indie collection of games in a 90s pixel art style, and less like a bundle of old games. I'm really enjoying this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →True to the originals. Spent most of my first two hours going through the museum and reading and watching all the history of the games. This is not a remake, negative reviews of this seem to have an unrealistic expectation that this is the original games remade with new graphics and controls. That's not this, look up Alien Breed HD if you want a remake. Also I LOVE the new sound track, just wish I could get it on a music streaming service.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I never actually played this back in the 90s but the art style gives me nostalgia. I have been giving it a go and I really like the 2d games with the twin sticks. I think I'll try to complete them when I have time. The 3d games are perhaps more of a curiosity than something I would play through. The museum is niche and nerdy just the way I like it. I think this is more of a clever wrapper for the Amiga Forever emulator and the games here are still original roms, not remakes, so bear that in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good collection. Awesome gallery and information on all the games in a very fun package. Games all play great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're considering it for the 3D games, don't bother. Just get the "Project Osiris" mod for ZDoom that replicates the original Alien Breed 3D instead. These games aged extremely poorly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately even though I have nostalgia for these games I ended up refunding in less than an hour. Playing Alien Breed Special Edition I had constant problems with try to access the menu via controller to save, somehow navigating left and right would stop navigating properly meaning that I had to use the mouse to select save/load properly, and then when interacting with the intex terminal via button press on the controller, the game menu would then pop up repeatedly, meaning I had to exit…

It's all algith, just not as good as it could of been. - ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ soundtrack on the menus but.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally a release of one of my favourite Amiga games Alien Breed 3D and the sequel I owned but could never play because my Amiga wasn't powerful enough. Both are the main reason I bought this collection. The 3D games are very bare bones and the resolution isn't the best but they are preserved exactly how they were on the Amiga. Looking at some of the reviews they were expecting something else despite the fact the devs have been open about what this collection is. Lots of bonus material,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The good old days are back. my controller is working great with this games that is nice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Little dispointed that the two 3d versions are a lowe res than i can get on my Amiga. would have thought it would be rewritten for pc but feels emulated. Saying that the framerate is good and controls work. and these are classics... one day my amiga will stop working and this is a good collection. but would love to see conversions same map new engine.

neutral · AI labelView post →Very great game, where you get all the classic Alien Breed games. Playing the game wit a twin stick gamepad is a real game changer compared to my classic setup of playing Alien Breed 1 back in the early 90s with a one button joystick. The (optional) CRT filters look great!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing the Alien Breed: 35th Anniversary Edition is an absolute trip down memory lane. For anyone who grew up during the golden era of gaming, booting this up instantly teleports you back to being a child, glued to a CRT monitor with a joystick in hand. It is a beautiful reminder of the past, capturing that exact magic we felt decades ago. The game is hard to play but incredibly easy to fall in love with. It doesn't hold your hand; the tension is high, the ammo is scarce, and the aliens are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →... at last! and what they are bringing to the party with the museum, menus and music is as cool as the decision to do a collection like this. Amiga heads; this is the start of something truly beautiful
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great update. Twin stick mode is great. Overall a good package at a reasonable price
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its the only game in its genre, its not Gauntlet, neither Alien Syndrome, no roguelike, neither randomized maps. Manually plan your route and your resources... initially, A bit disappointed compared to the AB remake released on PsVita/Ps3, miss the classic/Improved switch, and the option to play without twin-stick/bsckward fire... Also miss the arrow direction that pointed to the objective, online is still active on PSN and mission-based was much better for quick multiplayer... i dont think i…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the best game Collection ever, Im a Huge Fan of Commodore and Amiga and this game is just perfect
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really pleased with the preservation here. The UI is slick and does a great job of bringing these classics together. Very cool to see the range in options for certain games, like being able to play an A1200 or CD-32 version of Tower Assault. But also demos of the FPS games never released before, as well as a ton of concept art, documentaries and even a cancelled PSP game which I never knew about! This is a must play for anyone who grew up with Alien Breed. The twin stick shooting is a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stunning, this is games preservation at it's finest. I love the new controls, they have hit the right balance of preserving the games and making them playable in 2026. Horde mode makes me want a modern top down version of the game and I love Alien Breed 3D. It's like being sucked back into the 90s, the modern FPS controls really make this the jewel in the collection for me. Thank you Team17, thank you Commodore.

neutral · AI labelView post →A recommended game – if you remember the originals! The games are emulated fairly well, but they are difficult. Like impossibly so in some cases. Alien Breed – Short, hard, and built with the aim of making you learn your mistakes to be able to finish it. Easy to die because you run out of keys or ammo – but the cheat system helps with this. Alien Breed SE – A more refine Alien Breed, extended and a little easier. A better game than the first one. Alien Breed 2- Impossibly hard. Use the cheat…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rock n' Roll Baby! This is a great 1-to-1 port of the games. Now even better with all the QOL additions and most importantly twin-stick making it relevant nowadays to play. (It's still bloody hard! lol)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you love Alien breed and have fond memories of your Amiga then this is for you. Comprehensive release, worth the cash.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great collection of Classic Commodore softs, personally I played the later PC port of the overhead shooters not sure I ever heard of the FPS games they do rival Doom in ways which is impressive also pretty decent level design. Works good on Steam Deck/docked with a controller.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Works well on steam deck with twin sticks. Alien Breed SE is one of the first games I can remember playing,. My eldest brother saved for months to purchase a Commodore Amiga 500 and I have such fond memories of that PC; the graphics and sound were amazing! So happy to play it on modern hardware and check out the rest of the Alien Breed library. Welcome back Commodore!!! I'm eyeing your new mobile phone aswell, the 'Callback 8020.' Wishing you all the best. 💟
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a fantastic title. It's all here, everything prior to evolution in one place, and it works on windows, in 2026. I haven't played anything but Alien Breed 2 yet, that's the one I've wanted to play for many many years, and playing it now, I have to seriously wonder how I was able to beat Alien Breed, and Tower Assault on dos back in the day, because AB2 is hard as heck. The inclusion of modern controller support, and twin stick controlls is absolutely brilliant though. It's a little…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would've been nice to have some upscaling/rendering improvements for AB3D and AB3D2. Otherwise, it's alright for nostalgia. Don't bother if you never played it back in the day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As of the 20 percent discount as of now it works out as 2.49 that's in pounds US that's 3.29 dollars per game with out discount around 3. 82 pounds or 5.05 dollars for 6 games not displaying all the games with in games that this has i think its a barging and those that claim to be expensive for this amount of games are completely off there heads ands probably wanted them for free. There's a very real risk that if I buy it for the Xbox/PC I'll just end up buying it again for the Switch later anyway, because my brain is ruined.

neutral · AI labelView post →A perfect excuse to replay some of my favourite games of all time (for Steam achievements, lol). It's pretty much a 1:1 rerelease of the originals, just with some very minor improvements - the twin-stick controls being the main one. Alien Breed 2 is still hard as !@#$ with them though! Save states are very nice to have, since so many levels have a time limit. It's clearly "just" an Amiga emulator underneath though, when I finished ABTA I got a guru meditation after the CD32 cinematic :) With…

neutral · AI labelView post →Firstly I didn't buy this for the 3D games. Alien Breed 3D is much as I remember it from the first time round, by todays standards it looks bad, but way back when, on the Amiga it was all we had, as game studios were trying to compete with the emerging PC game market. So it was/ is a early Doom clone, to get it get it to run on Amiga, was a feat in itself and it shows, I had already bought a CD32 external CD drive for Tower assault and A/B 3D was the last major A1200 trapdoor expansion I bought…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forgot how just how much I adored these games growing up. Playing with my dad on an Amiga A600. definitely a little too young to understand quite what was going on but having a blast anyway. That same feeling; albeit with a bit more understanding, is still loud and proud. Twin stick addition is great for the 2D titles and there is still that sense of achievement completely just one level and that sense of dread when you realize you've sealed yourself in a part of the map with no keys and no…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember bunking off work one day in 1991 and popping down to my local games shop for a new game to play on my new Amiga. I settled on Alien Breed primarily because of the game box design and screen shots. Best game I ever played on the Amiga. I had the DOS versions on PC, and ripped the graphics from DOS AB to develop a conversion on the GBA. I Believe I sent some screen shots of AB GBA to Team17 and was advised not to continue development because there was a commercial product in the…

They actually want to sell this collection... so I'm glad the price is reasonable. $20 (on Sale) is very good. They also did some work... I was playing the game with an analog stick on my XBOX Controller and it's not stiff at all. It has very smooth controls... far better than what I remember.
