Lots of fake reviews on this one, all having clearly not played the game. No achievements after 5 hours of play (in 1 hour, I unlocked 7, one of which was starting the game), same 45 games in account, comments disabled on review, etc. Game is unpolished. Audio track not controlled by volume settings. Missing collision on several environment objects in the first hour of play. Missing subtitles. Audio levels all over …

I spent almost 30 hours with the pre-release build of Altheia: The Wrath of Aferi (though the main adventure is closer to 15), and it completely hooked me from start to finish. The cel-shaded visuals are gorgeous, the puzzles are clever and consistently rewarding, and the dual-character mechanics with Lili and Sadi add a fresh twist that even longtime Zelda fans will appreciate. Working together to solve shrines and …

I'm a bit skeptical about this game. On the one hand, I really enjoyed the story, the gameplay and the boss fights; on the other, I hated the bugs that made it difficult for me to play (particularly, preventing me from 100% the game). Right now, I recommend it only to those who just want to play it for a single playthrough. Below, the bugs I found. - In the area just before freeing an altar, where the water flows, …

This game is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking art direction that really brings the world to life. The combat feels smooth, responsive, and satisfying, making every encounter enjoyable. I haven’t made it too far into the story yet, but from what I’ve experienced so far, it’s shaping up to be engaging and full of potential. Overall, I’d definitely recommend giving this game a try!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a mixed bag for me unfortunately as I really wanted to like this as a fan of the genre. Let's start with the positives. The presentation overall of the game is solid. Hats off to the artists and visual designers as the game looks vibrant and really captures the look of what one would expect from a Zelda-style adventure game. The character artwork and the music are decent, and you can even remap all of the buttons, which is a basic feature a lot of games seem to overlook for some…

neutral · AI labelView post →I have spent 8 hours playing the game. I have enjoyed it but it has the cues wrong on which buttons need to be pushed in some areas and I have had it glitch out to where I am having to end task the game. Today I fell through the map. Fun but very frustrating due to the glitches. I don't recommend unless those get fixed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is like a plain chocolate cake, nothing fancy, no cream, no sprinkles. But I like chocolate cakes in general, so I took a bite. It's then that I realize it's not cooked enough. It's a shame, because the ideas are sound. On paper, it looks good, even if a little simplistic. But the execution is flawed, especially the combat, which doesn't feel very good and is very clunky. Also, some of the achievements seem to be bugged and cannot be unlocked.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've only played for 2 hours so far, but I've been really digging it. It is of course reminiscent of Legend of Zelda, but the world and the characters seem to be interesting enough to make this game stand on its own. The visuals are beautiful, but I would have liked more graphical options, albeit the game could run on a toaster. Honourable mention for the high-quality background music, equally soothing and captivating. I reserve the right to add more details to my review once I beat the game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Altheia: The Wrath of Aferi is an interesting take on the "Zelda-Like" Dungeon/Puzzle Exploration type of game. I enjoyed most of the puzzles in this game, however combat and story wise need some improving. The combat system feel abit janky at times, but it does provide decent enemy type that require you to use the combat mechanic to kill them. The storywise is rush through for most of the game, there some interesting lore behind the scene, but it just didn't explain well enough. Part 1…

neutral · AI labelView post →"Altheia: The Wrath of Aferi" is really unpolished. Controls, animation, fighting — everything needs more work. Maybe would get better after lots and lots of patches. Also the game still does not support Steam Cloud saves.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I bought this game it was listed as full Xbox controller support. It has since been changed to partial support. The game looked like something I'd like a lot, so I tried various settings to see if I could get all controls to work. Even tried using a combo of mouse, keyboard and a controller. Gave up after a little over an hour. Asked for a refund. Not something I tend to do. But the game simply wasn't playable for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve played for about an hour and a half and I’m already hooked. The style, story, and soundtrack are all top-notch. Considering it was made by just two guys and still manages to stand shoulder to shoulder with way more famous titles is honestly mind-blowing. Can’t wait to see where the story goes next, so far, super impressed!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to start by saying that this game has been made by a dear friend of mine, and I want to support their work. It was basically just a team of 2 people, and he worked alone on all things regarding the visual part of the game (concept art, models, animations, cinematics). I have nothing but respect and admiration for him, and I believe his work in that regard is pretty damn good and he is very talented. Talking about the game, I want to start with the good first, which is, in fact, the…

neutral · AI labelView post →I enjoyed the game so far, I'm not a fan of the bow though. I think the game is super charming for what it's worth. I look forward to playing it more, the issue I have is mostly is with camera sensitivity, I have to keep jacking it up super high to actually enjoy the game properly, and it doesn't save my settings when I leave. The default camera settings make it feel very sluggish and difficult to enjoy.

Distracted myself by taking a note? I ended up inside the scenario! Couldn't find the last enemies? They were trapped inside it. Prompts showing interactions? You shouldn't be able to interact from that side of the scenario. The controls are not very responsive, which has a significant impact on gameplay. At least it's beautiful, but at what…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The visual design and vibe of the game are it's strongest elements. The combat and traversal designs are quaint. A little game suited for a lay-back playthrough. Some points to be made about its weaker parts, however, are its audio design (inconsistent volume mixing, and abrupt cuts to different tracks) and its voice lines+cast. For me, the game would've benefited from being a game with just texts, voice ques for puzzle solving are fairly redundant as they are not complex.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, thinking that this game was created and developed by just two people is mind blowing! I’m a huge Zelda fan and I could really see a lot of similarities in this game, it’s perfect if you enjoy the genre. I haven’t finished it yet, but so far it looks very promising: great music, a very unique artistic style, and I absolutely love the enemy designs. Overall, it’s visually really captivating. It’s a great mix between an action game and a puzzle game imo. What can I say, good job and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve only played a few hours, but the game already feels very promising. The art style, environments, and soundtrack are absolutely beautiful, with a charm that feels straight out of both Zelda and Studio Ghibli. The mechanics are varied and nicely integrated, with a great balance between puzzles, action, and story progression. I can’t wait to see how the adventure unfolds!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately sauceless. The Twilight Princess inspiration is clear and welcomed, but the combat is a clunky mess that can cause slowdown, the OST is poor, repetitive, and probably the game's worst enemy, and the backtracking is so beyond egregious that most of my nearly two hours with this game were running through places I'd been half a dozen times before, while nothing new was happening. The only pro is the voice acting, which puts me in mind of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and even then it's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really unpolished. The camera is extremly shakey and the animations in combat feel hollow. Unplayable for me with mouse and keyboard and just okay with a controller. A lot of SFX are missing or not well tuned. The combat itself is okay, but also does not feel too good. It feels like the devs wanted to much but could not do it themself. Visually it looks great, but with that lack of gameplay and polish I can't recommend it...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun Zelda like, while I did encounter some minor bugs and the sound effects sometimes seem a bit off, it has hardly detracted from my overall enjoyment of the game and I'm very intrigued to see where the story goes from here.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Story-wise it is Twilight, but the girl is manly, and man are femboish beta submale: manly girl that doesn't know what to do, doesn't want to do anything, but calls all the shots, also foolishly unleashed "vampire" that killed her own mother - meets femboish beta submale werewolf boy and they are going on epic adventure about extermination of black goo monsters. Gameplay-wise is okay, a bit dark souls-like goofy control. 5/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Combat feels buttery hit-stop and effects make every action-adventure satisfying. Art direction is moody.

neutral · AI labelView post →Im not a review kinda guy but man I had to after playing a few hours of this game. The positives! Art style is really pretty. Feels like a Ps2 gen kind of variation of Breath of The Wild. Thats it! On paper, the ideas are neat but man this game needs a few patches to get there. You can essentially call this a polished turd. I hate to say that to the team who developed this but the game is really unpolished. Audio either cuts off with its voice work or the music just stops. Sometimes they'll…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice experience! Altheia: The Wrath of Aferi is a small italian indie game that reminds me of older PS2 Action Adventure titles, one made much more recently. The game's first few hours are a bit weak, but it managed to grow on me. The gamelay and the storyline are well made; they both start very simplistic but eventually do evolve meaningfully through the adventure. Artistically the game is very pretty, tho few bugs across the advenute were hard to ignore. Overall Altheia is an "alright"…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Because Neon Doctrine is closing their doors and leaving the titles to Raw Fury, as a publisher, I'll deactivate those titles from key requests: Grim Trials , Just A Shadow Game , Athanasia ,Cold Abyss , Altheia and Lost Castle 2. Thank you for supporting the titles ❤️

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was really fun and engaging—I never felt bored for a single moment. The boss fights were exciting and well-designed, I genuinely enjoyed every single one from start to finish. The puzzles were clever, stimulating, and very rewarding to solve. I’m usually not the type of player who goes for indie games, but this one completely won me over. I walked away truly satisfied, so congratulations to the team for creating such an impressive experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can at least change my review now that the game breaking bug I experienced is fixed and I can review the actual game. It's fine. The overall story is a bit derivative, the gameplay is simple but it gets the job done. Made by a very small team and that's always respectable. Puzzles are pretty decent, combat and exploration are relatively barebones and the game is overall linear. This is fine, it's got a story to tell and nothing overstays its welcome. It's got its share of quirk and clunk, but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love a game with this much to explore, especially when the world really feels lived-in. Plus, the art style is gorgeous - it's a pleasure just to run about and look around sometimes. Puzzles can be a serious challenge but success always feels earned, as do story beats as the characters learn more about what's going on. Overall: cheerful, fun, doesn't skimp on challenging dungeons. Would recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Warm, colorful vibe throughout, music and palette keep it light without feeling shallow.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had a blast. Controls felt responsive.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hand-painted look does a ton of lifting, dungeons feel lived in and the audio mix ties it all together.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm always thrilled to discover indie games from italian developers. I've only played Altheia Wrath of Aferi for a few hours but it feels already promising, both in terms of gameplay and narrative. The worldbuilding seems rich and intriguing, and I absolutely love the zelda-miyazaki vibes!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sold after a few hours, that game gets you addicted pretty quickly :steamhappy:
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great pacing: quick wins early, depth later. environmental storytelling is a smart idea, and the execution sells it.
