Without giving too much away, I enjoyed the story and the character arks. After you leave your apartment, your character will be in a spirit world of those that passed on. If the topic of death triggers you, be warned. I have 13 hours but if you don't explore, go afk or dance to the music like I was, this game is actually pretty short. Ashina: The Red Witch surprised me with just how much I enjoyed it. I liked the previous game "My Big Sister", but I'm typically not a huge horror fan. Ashina dials back a bit on the horror (though it is still there) and delivers a story that focuses on a cast of likable characters and packs an emotional punch. The game is short, to the point, and well-paced. I had a great time during every minute of my 4 hour or so …

I loved the unsettling dreamlike atmosphere with music to match, and the bizarre cast of characters. I didn't love the abrupt, unsatisfactory ending that explained nothing. Apparently that's because this is a prequel to another game, My Big Sister, which was not clearly communicated on the store page. Be advised this game doesn't stand on its own without that one.

I've really enjoyed this game. There are quite a lot of dialogues, so you have to make sure that's not a problem for you, but you spend a good time following Ash and Tanto around mesmerizing worlds. The puzzles are easy to figure out, so they're in no way getting in the way of the story. This is my first game from Stranga Games and I will be playing others! I recommend this game to anyone looking to spend a good time.

After 20+ tries, I finally beat Genichiro Ashina in Sekiro My struggle with this game (and it's 100% a skill issue) is that you're highly incentivized to stealth kill regular enemies So then when it comes to boss fights, it feels like a completely different combat system you haven't practiced

There are plenty of technical reviews so I will fangirl: I am in game heaven right now after playing My Big Sister. Ashina: The Red Witch is SO GOOD! It's whimsical, beautiful and often times really sad. The characters have so much heart and so many hidden secrets! It feels like being in Spirited Away (lots of nods to it) while still holding onto the creepy vibes. I'm so obsessed right now with this prequel, the characters, the world and the Lore. Would Loop again : 11/10

If you enjoy solving a mystery with some point and click lite style puzzles you'll want to give this a try. A sequel to Red Bow and a prequel to My Big Sister, imo the best one in the series. Exploring the backstory of Ashina and setting up the events of the other game it gives us interesting characters, the broken relationship between sisters and a deep dive into the antagonist as the series a whole. I enjoyed the story of Ashina quite a lot.

Just finished my (first) playthrough .. a wonderful horror story, told in nice pixel graphics and a lot to do. Though I learned, Ashina is only a beginning of a longer story, we have more than one ending - which makes it even more interesting to dive deeper ... A chapter select option after a player has finished the game for a first time, makes it easy to search for new clues or vary ways in certain parts. (full review with screenshots: https://www.gaming-parrot.com/post/ashina-the-red-witch-review-bewitching ) Ashina: The Red Witch is an adventure game that's apparently a prequel to an earlier title from developer Stranga, although I haven't played it and can't say how much it adds to that story. Stranga's other games appear to be horror adventures, but while Ashina has some horror elements, it's fairly lighthearted overall. Review Bahasa Indonesia: https://youtu.be/6P1oFn-J0iw Ashina is a narrative game with great world building and amazing production value. The dev wants you to enjoy the visuals, music, and writing without having you to think too hard, hence the very simple gameplay loop. However, while the presentation is the best thing the game will offer to you, there's a lot of detail miss in the game programming, such as same textbox(with same name) appear even though you're investigating the object with…

It would propel you quite a stretch forward and you could launch yourself over the railing and down where you need to be to move on to the boss. 🛏️ The game attracts with its graphic execution of the setting. It's really beautiful, has cozy living locations and interesting designs of pixel animated characters. The gameplay itself is quite meditative, since you just have to read dialogues, explore the environment, bring / use items. No action, chases, complex puzzles or bosses, but this isn't needed here, because it works without all this. Nice dialogues, short duration, conditions for endings. There are also minor bugs, but nothing…

It was not really fun to play. The story was a mess and the characters were annoying at most. Some areas were fun, like the city area with more vibrant characters. The game was a bit clunky to play and some areas were so small with so few interactable things that it was more akin to a flash game really. No Japanese support is also kinda surprising since the game is essentially based on 100% Japanese lore.

Genichiro Ashina I think the bastard's name is. I think I'm going at him too soon, like I think the game expects me to go do other stuff first, but I can't resist the temptation to try anyways. I've gotten to his lightning phase a few times but I can never stay alive more than a few seconds at that point. I may go back to it yet. I do generally enjoy the challenge. But between him and the butterfly person boss, honestly more frustration with unfair bullshit than genuine enjoyment.

It wasn't obvious to me, but there's actually a way to reliably avoid his charge, and it doesn't involve dodging. The soundtrack fits the overall atmosphere of the locations and the areas aren't too big so You won't get lost often. Ashina is not a story about "healing" or "wholesome characters" rather it's a story about what pain and grief can drive otherwise sympathetic people to do. It is a bittersweet story about the pain people have inflicted on them and how they can become resigned, resentful, and in turn inflict pain on others in displaced vengeance. It is also a story about those that find peace in their fate and those that seek to break the loop of generational trauma no matter how unwinnable it can seem. In many…

Ashina The Red Witch was quite likely inspired by the well-known Studio Ghibli anime Spirited Away and delivers a similar atmospherical experience. The game is very good in this regard - the visuals, the musical score and story. The trailer conveys this atmosphere quite well. Ah, the roof of Ashina Castle. The boss at the end there is sort of described as the brick wall that basically is the “final exam” that determines if you’re ready for the “real game” so-to-speak. I’d personally recommend doing that boss and Lady Butterfly around the same time, but you could do it in either order or avoid LB entirely if you wanted to. I usually reach both bosses before fighting either, then fight them back to back, that’s just the way that makes the most sense to me, but…

Yeah! Precisely that kind of stuff is what I'm talking about! --- As of right now Ashina is burning and I'm exploring the castle again before going to Kuro; this feels certainly like the endgame. I Might go and try to tackle the shichimen warriors now as well before proceeding... I'm surprised how short the game is, but it's very tight so I'm not complaining.

Genichiro Ashina into Genichiro Way of Tomoe in Sekiro was the exact moment the game clicked for me, it was such a cool flow state to learn the fight and finally beat it 😁

I did. Completely different lol. Look, it's like my favorite game ever, but it's pretty hard and it's not for everyone. I hope you enjoy it, but the game only ever seems to go down to $30, so I don't want someone to waste money on a game they don't like on account of me. I guess it can refund it in Steam, though I'm not sure if 2 hours is enough time for it to gel. I've seen people say that the early boss, "Genichiro Ashina" is the first real test, and indication of what's to come. That one…

Even though I sucked at it and missed 9/10 parries I attempted in Clair Obscur, it has put me in the mood to try Sekiro again. I have never beaten it. I made it to Genichiro Ashina and he completely broke my spirit and my will to play the game any further, but I’ve always been meaning to go back.

Thinking about Sekiro now: beating Genichiro Ashina that first time was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had in a game. youtu.be/hF8KbCuzubc

I may be in the minority, but I really wanna know how the story of the Return ending continues. I want a sequel, at least story-wise. Maybe break away gameplay-wise: No more Kuro means no Immortal Oath. No more resurrection, using save points instead. No more Mortal Blade either, of course. I'm not sure what else you could switch up, but I'd like to keep the core gameplay of Deflect and Counter. Perhaps more/different (and more useful) combat arts to incentivise involving it in your…

Game is expanding universe of Red Bow / My Big Sister, and being on a level with them.

It's a short, cute indie adventure game about a girl who got lost in a spirit world trying to retrieve her stolen pendant. The overall experience is enjoyable despite some parts being a tad unrefined.
