Players praise its unique blend of farming, bullet hell, tower defense, and roguelike genres. [1][2][3] Many find it deeply addictive and satisfying once the gameplay loop clicks. [4][2][5] Some criticize the lack of updates and poor onboarding for new players. [6][7][8]

Damn this game is oppressive. As rogue-like progression goes, the early game is really confusing and not intuitive at all, you play without understanding most of what's going on, and then late game becomes suffocating again, with so much stuff on screen that a lot of times you don't even know what's hitting you. I'm completing it only because I couldn't see it before losing the chance to refund it. Overall not fun.

Th worst part of this game is that every time I finish a run and I have to stop myself from doing another one. I've purchased this on every platform available. What I wouldn't give for a sequel.

Farming-Sim, Tower Defense, Bullet Hell, Roguelike. Any one of these on their own are great. Fusing one or two of them together is a risky gamble. But fusing all four of them together? It should never have worked...BUT IT DID!! Atomicrops somehow did the impossible and made all four of these different genres work together near flawlessly. The time management of farming sims blends perfectly with the tower defense …

genuinely a goated game , genuinely. is good , it runs fine , it controls fine and the gameplay is genuinely fun and engaging. BUT 2 years without a patch note or the publisher giving a hell about it. the only thing we have left is either someone start modding the hell out of this. or hope it doesnt turn into a "is my ip and ill sit on it and do nothing with it all i want" scenario.

h2] TLDR: Buy The Game! I have been meaning to do a review of this game for a long time but I kept playing the game rather than write a review. I can't recommend this game enough. Its an extremely unique blend of bullet hell with resource management, rogue like elements, and a big dash of base building. Back when I first started playing it took me a handful of deaths to get the hang of it but once I did the game …

94% of the 203 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Atomicrops. The complaint that keeps coming up: poor onboarding and confusing early game. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Atomicrops received a score of 78/100 on review aggregator website Metacritic. Fellow review aggregator OpenCritic assessed that the game received strong approval, being recommended by 69% of critics. Rock Paper Shotgun felt the farming life sim elements were lackluster compared to the strong bullet hell attributes. However, the combination of farming and shooting created engaging instances of multitasking. In addition, while the difficulty was high at first, they felt that mastering the game with fewer permanent upgrades than other roguelikes made the game feel distinct. Eurogamer believed that the launch version alleviated their main concern of unforgiving health management and would now…

positive · AI labelView post →I was eyeing this game in particular and it looked really cool... right up until the part with the citybuilding/farming. I don't really like games that try to have two distinctly seperate gameplay loops (looking at you Atomicrops and even Sonic Adventure 2) store.steampowered.com/app/2062430/...

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simply a perfect game! Not for everyone, but if you like it, and stick with it, you will continually see how much the game can open up again and again when you keep playing. I think I'm about half way done with completing everything achievement wise, and I've been playing for about 200 hours, mostly from short bursts of daily play. Even when I finally get everything unlocked, meaning achievements (in game plus on steam), I think there will still be challenges to be had such as maxing out the…

Atomicrops is one of the most mechanically unique rogue likes I've played, and Genesis: alpha one is a... Flawed but charming game with a lot of space for personal storytelling.
positive · AI labelView post →This is one of the strangest roguelites I've ever played, its brutally hard and the meta-progession is more or less useless. There is very poor on-boarding and explanation for items. The cost to upgrade your weapon after each run becomes an order of magnitude higher in cost that doesnt reflect how much money you are able to collect. I may be doing something wrong but even when I reached the final boss after leveling up pretty high I was doing almost no damage to him. I initially thought it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the game, i think for the steam sale i maybe spent £2 on this, so honestly best £2 ever spent, however. it is very close to binding of isaac, but unlike the constantly changing rooms of isaac you go across the same 5 fields over and over, nothing ever changes, there's never anything random that happens, apart from occasionally you see a golden goose, that's it. I've unlocked 99% of what the game allows you to unlock, the grind to full unlock may take thousands of hours, over the same 5…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →✔ fast paced unique gameplay forcing quick decision making (between plowing/farming/harvesting/exploring) ? it's mostly a bullet hell (at least when you want to play effectively by doing important stuff instead of killing every single enemy for safety) ? life points are the most important resource, which can be difficult to replenish, so you may as well restart if you lose too much ? no meaningful perma-progression (there is some, but much, much further than I reached) ✘ runs are very…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best roguelike Ive ever played. I love the art, I love the gameplay, I love the concept of farming gosh dang it the only thing that would make it better imo is coop but what doesnt that improve.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You'll never find a farming game quite like this one- the combination of "tower defense" bullet hell and farming is not one I ever thought about in my life, much less thought would work. But my god, does it work. I only wish there was even more content for me to experience, maybe there'll be an Atomicrops 2 one day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a lot of fun! I was not expecting to have to juggle the fighting with the farming as much as I did but once I got used to it I really enjoyed that aspect. The art style is nice and I really like the sometimes silly music. The upgrades and weapons can make some really good and satisfying combos. Plus there's unlocks you can get that make future runs more profitable. And different character choices change up how the game is experienced. There's a lot to unlock too so playing it does not get…

positive · AI labelView post →If happiness had a face, it would be this game. I love everything about it, and it helps me relax after a long day at work or a difficult exam.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is criminally underrated. Dopamine is injected directly into your brain. The sounds, colors, and hectic gameplay loop, and polish make this land on my top 3 list of roguelikes period. Just be aware that you will get wrecked for the first couple hours though; the game definitely doesn't hold your hand but it is fair.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Want a farming game that's also a nuclear fallout roguelike? This is it! I love every aspect of this game: the humor, bosses, weapons and the soundtrack is just out of this world. I still have the songs playing in my head months after playing other games. Caveat: As with every roguelike, this game is not for the faint of heart. it has all those elements PLUS needing to plant, water and harvest your crops in the middle of a boss battle. It's EPIC!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very hard to get to but once you understand it it is super fun! Just give it a few runs before you discard it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really, really solid roguelike. Feels more in line with the classics like Isaac and Gungeon than the modern slop style. For sure worth playing for any fan of the genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game with all my heart, the relaxation of farming combined with the absolute stress and terror of a bullet hell. i have had this game since christmas, it is now new years eve and i have almost 24hours of gameplay. the grind is addictive and fullfilling. although it takes a bit to understand how the game works it doesn't affect your ability to actually play the game in its basic form. 10/10 game. love it so much

positive · AI labelView post →It is not a perfect cycle but it is interesting enough to rush around gathering resources and managing the plants. It is interesting but it does feel a bit tedious at times. So it is never truly satisfying. So more of a meh than a recommended but not a bad game all in all.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such an underrated game. Amazing art style. Great soundtrack - it's so many games all rolled into one, farming, bullet hell, management, builds. If you enjoy games that have so much going on it consumes every fiber of your brain this is the game for you, very challenging but so awesome! Great work 🩷
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Atomicrops Played it on the PlayStation years ago but am back to it on the deck with the DLC I never experienced so it's kinda like a new game to me in some ways. Very fun twin stick roguelike with silly farming mechanic in between. Mindless in a good way.
positive · AI labelView post →It isn't bad... Just feels undercooked. Or maybe we harvested too soon in this case?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Made it to year IV Very good roguelike, very hard. Lots of fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't think I can recommend this game, at least for now. I just started playing, but it feels so rushed; it's hard from the beginning. The multitasking is stressful; the weapons are always too expensive to buy. Idk, the only thing I liked so far is the art style.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Atomicrops is my favorite rougelite its a shame it never got the love it deserved, its the most fun I've ever had with a farming game ever. If you're looking for a super smash between Stardew Valley farming and a wacky shooter kinda similar to enter the gungeon or the binding of isaac this game will easily be for you!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This ain't no Stardew Valley. This game is all gas no brakes. If you can't keep up with the harvest while killing enemies, you ain't gonna get very far. Fun game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super fun and addicting game. The gameplay loop is very rewarding. I find myself coming back to this one every year.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you need something to hyperfixate on you can't beat this game

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its a really fun and unique bullet hell rouge like shooter, probably one of my favorite games. the art style sound design and game play are all fun. there is a lot to do and the difficulty ramp up keeps the game interesting
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Game, not without its flaws. I'll probably never finish Year 10 with Robusta...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the occasional bullet-hell game, especially if there is a heavy collection & progression element to it. There isn't really in this game, and yet I still play it. It's frustrating. I'm not good at it, and it is not a continuous game where you keep your progress in a world and build it up into something. It's a game where when you die you restart, but if you manage to beat a level, you go into the next one with a bit of a better start. Everything I don't like in a game, because I don't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I never write reviews, but this game deserves it. I own it on steam, switch, and xbox lol. I definitely have over 100 hours on those combined and I still love to play and want to get more achievements. The chaos of farming while shooting enemies has me completely sucked into the game. And I love the different characters and upgrades you can get. I would love a sequel!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super underrated game in the genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What an amazing game. Masters the twin stick shooter genre in a way no other game has. The amount of build and weapon choices makes each run different. The game is incredibly relaxing during the early levels and incredibly difficult during the later years.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →amazing quality in sound design, replayability, and especially the amazing art in this game! Genuinely one of my favorites and one I'll be coming back to for sessions for a long long time
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The moment-to-moment gameplay is OK, but in the end the juddering of the screen movement (scrolling) was, I found, quite sickening. It's also incredibly grindy and there's too much micro-management involved, to the point where I found it quickly became tiresome and further eroded any fun. Upgrades cost too much, seeds are too few and growing them felt like a chore. I also found the music and sfx borderline unpleasant & what with the constant screen judder and sheer grindiness of the gameplay,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is simply AMAZING if you give it a shot!! You may need a minute to adjust to all the intricacies and upgrades, but once you get a flow, you can REALLY plan for incredible strategies!! I HAVEN'T GOTTEN MARRIED YET, BUT IM DAMN CLOSE!!!! ROMANCE HERE I COMEEEE!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a huge learning curve, but it's absolutely rewarding once things start to click. The first time I played this game, I got discouraged and hung it up for a couple months. I revisited it, and suddenly found myself dumping dozens of hours into it before taking another break and repeating. It's deceptively fun like that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have way more hours on another account. Highly addictive loop. More than worth full price and a steal on sale. Definitely get the DLC, too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →100% I love this game and highly recommend it. It's oozes personality and it's too late for a doctor. It's a tight game, it feels like everything was done with the purpose of easing the player into the difficulty curve without making it easy. Seasoned bullet hell players might feel like it's too slow at first, but the sheer variety of obstacles and attacks makes every play through, even if you go back to earlier stages, feel fresh. This game stresses me the hell out and I keep going back for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Atomicrops!!! Roguelike farming game~
neutral · AI labelView post →It's a good roguelite that does what it's supposed to do. I'd prefer if there was some sort of endless mode, but that's just me being a whiner. Other than getting the 144 potatoes achievement post-sprinkler patch, this was a very enjoyable 100% that I'd definitely recommend to fans of the genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the concept of this game - turning farming simulation into a challenging roguelike. I wish it was roguelite and had a metaprogression system. But the biggest dealbreaker for me is the pixel art is too bad to handle the level of chaos on the screen. If you like hard games that you need to figure out yourself, nonstop chaos and don't mind the art style, then you might like it. But it's not accessible enough to give a thumbs up.
