Disgusting. Game opened up saying its an homage to the 80's and relax don't take it seriously which already made me suspicious. Literally the next screen is of fake news and you shooting a black guy robbing a house. Most of the criminals are black and there are constant racial caricatures like a little black girl eating watermelon and a fat black lady cop with cherry red lipstick. None of the same animosity goes …

The visuals are good, the jokes are funny, the music is cool, the overall plot is okay That's where we leave the positives and move on to: - Not the most user-friendly controls - The gang missions are very repetitive, and it always ended up that the mafia missions often felt super bad, while the petty thefts from the Crew were easier to let go of - Monotonous gameplay that gets boring after 4-5 days, and you just …

Beat Cop is what happens when paperwork becomes more dangerous than criminals. After 19 hours and achieving a full 100% completion, this game surprised me more than I expected. You write parking tickets, talk to weird characters, and slowly realize that every choice can ruin your day. The city feels alive, unfair, and slightly absurd — just like the job you’re stuck with. It’s funny, stressful, and surprisingly …

“Five Minutes. Three Problems. Zero Good Options.” This isn’t a cop power fantasy. This is a cop shift simulator dipped in pixel art, stress, and terrible life choices. You clock in thinking “today I’ll clean up the streets” and clock out thinking “what if I just fined everyone and went home.” And somehow, that’s the charm. At first glance, Beat Cop looks like a cozy retro throwback. Then it hands you quotas, a …

neutral · AI labelView post →The game starts out by mentioning that it's a love letter to the typical 80's action series, and it actually fully matches the clichès, the tropes and the common themes present in these shows. In terms of gameplay, it plays in a quite simple manner and, eventually, it simply gets too stale. Also, not having a WASD-type control mode makes it even less appealing. I'm giving it a positive review as the story is quite interesting - if you'll actually play it and not just skip all the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genuinely a fun game but there are so many bugs that make me restart a day due to frustration that I'm restarting days at least once every 2-3 days.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still glitchy after 8 years. Your character can get stuck waiting for a police car to pickup someone you arrested. Quests don't start or some stages of a quest will just stop working. Meaning you fail the quest. There are several others after a few hours of play. That's not good. You can replay the days where it glitches but it gets annoying sometimes especially if you had a very lucky day.

The game is pixel graphics with it spanning one long street, one controlled by the mafia and one controlled by the gang. Each day brings a unique set of…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nope, not worth your money. It is a poorly-UI'd scheduling game masked as a police one. It might initially seem like you have any agency or choice in doing your tasks, though any deviations from the dev-intended routine will quickly lead to you losing tasks and their rewards. The game does say "don't try to do everything", though when I take it up for the advice, I barely make any money and the faction relations go down the toilet. You need a guide to grasp the game because the game's…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a...fine game. Nothing special, or particularly memorable about it. The highlights of this game are the pixelated artstyle and the interactions between Jack Kelly and the other characters. They're hillarious and well written. My main problem with this game is the lack of direction when doing some of the quests, as they can be very confusing sometimes. There's like 9 endings or so, couldn't bother playing the last day again to unlock all of them, you don't even get achievements for all of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neat idea but it has some unnecessary weirdly racist stuff
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring Slog, Not Racist Enough. Sick and tired of this lukewarm dribble. You said 80's not modern audience appropriation of the eighties. This is nowhere close to the mark. Buckle up Rookie and re-watch the past your trying to portray.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At least I'm not the only one noticing how racist is this game. Also it's unplayable, the dude does not move making me lose a lot of time and patience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even though this game is a cop game set in the 80s... it still managed to surprise me with the level of racism I found within the first hour. Half the racism didn't even seem like it was included to be funny or remind you of when it takes place. Just felt like the developer's genuine perspective to me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Edgy jokes aside, with some being more jarring than others, I just did not find the gameplay loop that fun. Your main priority is hitting a vehicle ticket quota while passively continuing the story and engaging with side crimes (robberies, prostitution etc). Maybe the story resonates with some more than others but it was not nearly engaging enough to continue walking back and forth along the same single street block.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →every time i see the game title "Beat Cop" i keep hoping 'weird rhythm police game about a goofy musical police force fighting crime to the beat' but being reminded it's disappointingly an adventure game about an actual normal Beat cop
negative · AI labelView post →Don't bother with this. The gameplay is so basic, its a meter maid simulator. The overarching story is so linear and if you miss a single thing you're locked out of the main ending. Not to mention one of the two main objectives for the entire game is unattainable. So the game is mid, that's fine. There is enough to get out of it in a playthrough to warrant the low price, however, your game can't be mid AND racist. You've got a recurring sprite of a little black girl eating watermelon on a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game hides behind the conceit of being a throwback to 80's cop shows, but is really just a way for the developer to indulge in their favourite racist tropes. Slurs get thrown around constantly and the game does nothing to try and frame this as either a product of the time or even just as incorrect behaviour. Aside from that, the game glitches, locking the character into place so you can't move. The dialogue is stiff and riddled with tropes, while the writing overall has typos, missing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay loop was boring, the writing was childish and often racist, and I encountered multiple bugs in my very short time with the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not buy this game. A lot of bugs. My characters randomly stops moving and stuck.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game functions well. However it contains too much racist stuff for me. I achievement completed it because of sunk cost falacy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You are a former detective framed for a crime you did not commit. Now you are a simple patrol cop on a crappy street in 1980s New York. Your job is to write parking tickets and check broken tail lights while your ex wife sucks your wallet dry and the local mafia wants your balls on a plate. Sounds like hell right? Wait until you see the pоrn studio and the mutant cockroaches This game is a masterpiece of pixel art trash. You walk the same small street for 20 hours but it never gets boring.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →basically Papers, Please with walking and way too much bad writing. only hits if you're drowning in nostalgia. but this whole vibe is way behind us now and the game is mostly outdated.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a buggy mess of a busywork simulator with a simple and yet utterly infuriating mouse-based control system. There's a couple of nice ideas in here that will leave you wondering what might have been, but the mind-numbing repetition gets old way too fast. I'll give it an extra point for all the racist language. 5/10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Point and click movement, often the game just doesn't let you move so you have to sprint without moving to deplete your stamina to move again, wastes like 10 seconds. Happens multiple times per shift, where time actually counts. Honestly an unforgivable bug to let hit production, like you seriously didn't catch this and repair it in 6 years..? Also crash-prone.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beat Cop is an ok retro-themed game, inspired by 80's classic buddy cop or crime movies. I give this a pass just because it seems like a decent game but I have no more intention of playing it as it's just not for me. Gameplay is simple - it's basically a beat cop simulator, you write tickets, you deal with small time theft, you help out the neighborhood etc. etc. It's boring and a bit monotonous, but I can see why someone would like this. I think this game will mostly be appreciated by…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You play as Officer Kelly — yes, he’s dramatic, yes, he’s tired, and yes, he’s constantly stressed… mood. 😭💅 But solving cases, writing tickets, and choosing who to trust feels surprisingly satisfying. Every choice matters, and the game gives you that “just one more day” feeling every time. 🌼 What I loved: Cute but stylish pixel art 🎀 Dark humor that hits at the right moments Lots of choices & multiple endings Daily goals that feel rewarding when you nail them ✨ 🌸 What could be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This ended up being a no for me personally because the game feels really overwhelming at first with the amount of possibilities and potential consequences. But it also at the same time feels like those consequences are shallow, like the game is a giant puddle an inch deep. Not a bad game, just not for me. Also while the aesthetic on paper and in motion looks great it's not always the best to actually interact with mechanically.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a terrible game but a lot of it feels like filler, it's also confusing and expects you to remember a lot which is particularly challenging if you take a break for a few days there are some unresolved bugs and some encounters are impossible to succeed because of these. I fought through to the end, and to cap it all off, all the endings are very disappointing, they're just a newspaper splash that explains what happened.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was interesting at first, but then i started feeling anxious because i had to check the clock all the time, the pace of the game felt too fast for me. Its also pretty repetitive, so i cant bring myself to finish the game.

neutral · AI labelView post →Beat Cop | 7.9/10 | Stylish, witty, and full of attitude, even if it can get a bit repetitive Story & Tone The story is genuinely one of the game’s stronger points. It mixes dark humor, street-level police drama, and a kind of grimy 1980s energy that gives the whole experience a lot of charm. It never feels too clean or too heroic, which fits the setting really well. Atmosphere & Presentation This is where the game really stands out. The pixel art looks great, the setting has a lot of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good, it's a beat cop version of paper's please if that makes sense. You go about your days as a beat cop on one street, giving out tickets, stopping crime and helping out the community. Similar to Paper's Please, you have a limited time until the game ends at which point you will get an ending that is based off the choices you've made. So far i've unlocked two different endings but i enjoy the variety so far and am excited to see more. I didn't get the ultimate good ending but i was…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's just racist
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too repetitive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best thing about the game is you can completely omit the story and continue casually handing out the tickets. 79/100
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →refund requested, the bug in which your character cant move is simply game breaking with no signs of a fix being put in place this is unplayable. DO NOT BUY
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lot of things are annoyingly buggy. It's a very fun game, but the last drop was not being able to ticket a car in a no park zone, which also had bad tires and lights. Gah! Edit: After cooling down; it's a unique and fun game. I'd recommend it to anyone. Just don't expect to finish it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gets very repetitive, story is not worth it. Good idea, bad execution.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tried to play it, couldnt get past the tutorial level... Kept getting soft locked due to the player not being able to move... just stuck in one place no matter what I did.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →extremely ironic there are people both arguing against the narrative feeding into stereotypes thanks to our white protag's pov and others, quite literally, calling this game not racist enough for the 1980s. This game has hit the perfect, lukewarm middle of writing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game isn’t breaking any laws of gaming greatness, but it also isn’t committing any major crimes. It’s a solid little throwback, part retro cop drama, part time management sim, and entirely just okay. The humor lands sometimes and the pixel art oozes 80s charm. Sure, the repetition sets in faster than your character’s next parking ticket and the moral choices rarely hit as hard as they should but it’s got enough personality to earn a polite thumbs up. Not outstanding, not terrible just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Plot has nothing to do with gameplay, you're basically just doing chores with basically no stamina, so racist the devs tried covering their asses with a "dont take it too seriously lol" disclaimer at the beginning (which is NOT an excuse) and the "humor" is just penis jokes and even more racism.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool and simple game, nice story with a lot of goofy moments (also some intenste ones)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm was trying to get past Genelral Lee's Confederate flag (the car) but then thre's some serious racial stereotyping and several slurrs against the asian races. All that in less than 15 minutes of gameplay.
