Really pretty game, especially when it launched in early access. However, super clunky and awkward to use and build things. I don't understand how some people have the patience to do these massive contraptions to only find out they wanted to tweak their design, which is SO frustrating. I was hoping it would get much better with the release and patches, but no. Still bad.

One of the best building games out there. Spiderling Studios has been developing it for over a decade now (2015). It's been such an amazing cost to value creative game. Unique and fun, but it doesn't do a great job of onboarding the player, lots of the more advanced things you can do require a youtube video to understand how to place the parts together in ways that have really specific uses. Having to go outside the game for game information isn't the best, but in a technical building title is probably where it's most forgivable.

Players who liked Besiege talk about flexible and creative building system; those who didn't talk about poor tutorial and onboarding. Which matters more to you?

Critics, per Wikipedia

PC Gamer praised the "fun concept, superb creation tools, and finely crafted puzzles" of Besiege, offering an impressive amount of content for its price, and featuring unique and creative gameplay, with each problem being possible to solve in many different ways. The game collected about 50,000 reviews on Steam, with more than 95% of them being positive. Marsh Davies of Rock, Paper, Shotgun highlighted the "robust" alpha version of the game, comparing its "bouncily caricatured" science to a 12th-century version of Kerbal Space Program. Davies also praised Besiege's stylized graphics and sound and its "weak-at-the-knees beautiful" user interface. Rock, Paper, Shotgun later published a review…

I restarted the computer. Installed and uninstaled. Downloaded a driver. Nothing helped it. Unfortunately I can't go forwards in the game because of that. It sucks honestly cause I was really invested into it." This was my original review. The developers answered me in the same day, and helped me fix the problem. Not only I'm…

Truth be told, I still can't make a functioning catapult... so I never made it very far into the game. Still a BLAST though. Cool to mess around with for a dollar and a half. Probably the worst "tutorial" I've ever seen in my life. Guess ill have to look elsewhere to get a grasp on the basics since the game doesn't want to explain itself in the slightest. 'Add a piston'. Okay. To where? For why? That's the extent of help it gives. Also none of the tiny text is legible when you hover objects to see what they do on a handheld in 720p.

Kind of on me for not doing more research but I thought this would be a game about building janky siege engines to destroy stuff, and yeah some of the missions are, but the rest are puzzles that involve using the not at all explained mechanics and parts to build a machine that is hyper-specialised to solve that one puzzle. Almost all the "siege" levels can be solved by building an airship and dropping bombs, which I guess is kind of on me for not having more of an imagination. But yeah it's…

The concept of this game is really fun, but I have to admit it's not for everyone. It might especially be difficult for people who don’t have an engineering-type mindset. At least that’s how it felt to me. After about the third level I already felt stuck — I had no idea how to build something that actually worked. I would still recommend the game, but I suggest doing some research before buying to see if this type of gameplay is for you. That’s something I didn’t do, and I quickly realized…

Great idea, great execution. I enjoy spending time messing with machines while watching a video or a show on the side. The only thing that always felt missing is content. What you've been putting in the game does work great indeed, but I wish there was more. More enemies, more levels, bigger castles, tougher challenges, just more to consume and tackle. I conquered the new sea DLC in 5 hours with only 4 machines. I feel like you can squeeze much more out of it before you launch the space DLC.…

The game at first seems really fun and intuitive however, the fact there isin't more of a tutorial or a guide on how to build these machines feel confusing. I keep seeing reviews complaining on how the game became boring and I think that is because the game doesn't grab you early enough due to a lack guidance in how to play this game. This one is sitting at about 7/10 for me. I love tech/building games, they scratch the engineering itch for my brain, and this game fits that bill quite well. It SHOULD be a 10/10 game. However, there are a few glaring issues that bring it down for me. The first, and most important, is the decision someone made to hardcode the space bar for start/stop simulation. I have rage quite more than a few times when I have almost completed a goal and accidentally tapped the space bar and *poof* it's…

A fun game, unfortunately it takes a toll on your PC It's a fun game where each level feels like a puzzle. You need to make a vehicle that can get through the enemy's defense line and kill the designated targets. While Co-op is very fun, unfortunately the game doesn't offer ready-to-play levels for it. So each time you have to manually create scenarios to overcome with your friends, which is more work than fun. Now, for the price you pay with your PC... The physics calculations are extremely…
