What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 45 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (47 of 75 positive).
Players praise the game's atmosphere, music, and setting inspired by Middle Eastern folklore. [1][2][3] Many note the combat and animations feel clunky or outdated, especially for a 2025 release. [4][5][6] Some reviewers appreciate the ambition and soul of the indie team despite technical flaws. [7][4][8]

Heads up before you buy Blood of Mehran! Blood of Mehran – Final Review (Played for 10 hours – 81% achievements unlocked) Let me start with something positive, because there isn’t much of it. The intro is actually pretty decent. It looks cinematic, feels grand, and quickly sets the tone for what the story is about. Unfortunately, that’s where most of the praise ends. The combat feels clunky and outdated, more like …

I don't know why people are upset or surprised that an INDIE STUDIO made a game that is not on the same level as a AAA game. Once you get over the realization that this is an indie game that is clearly not on the same level as something like assassins creed, you'd appreciate the dedication and work of the game. As for me personally, I love it. I'm an Iranian who has been desperately searching for games that have …

If you expect to get a 2025 game, you're not on the right page. This is more like a 2010 game, in terms of animations and combat. Story has potential, there is some degree of clever Hollywood directing on the cutscenes and it seems like it has potential. Overall, it's a mediocre game, 5/10, however, I still recommend it because the developers seem to have put some soul into it and we need more games with soul into …

For a $25 game made by a small team, I think it's a solid effort. It has old-school and somewhat clunky swordplay, and while the animations are a bit rough, the story (at least as far as I’ve played) is decent. The graphics are solid, and the game runs well on my 3060 Ti. The enemy AI isn’t great, and the game sometimes throws too many enemies at you, which can get frustrating, but overall, I still think it’s worth …

Blood of Mehran is a rare indie experience that blends Middle Eastern folklore with stylish hack & slash action. Its worldbuilding and art direction feel genuinely inspired. There are a few rough edges here and there, but nothing that takes away from its charm and ambition. I truly believe this one has what it takes to succeed.

Players who liked Blood of Mehran talk about beautiful music and atmosphere inspired by Persian culture; those who didn't talk about clunky and outdated combat mechanics. Which matters more to you?

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd had this game on my wishlist for a while, and decided to bite the bullet and buy it the moment it launched. I am sad to say that it was a game that did not make the cut, and was refunded very quickly. I have seen other people complain about the graphics not being up to par for a 2025 game and, while I agree that there are better-looking games out there, I have definitely seen worse-looking indie games recently released and that posed no issue. My main issues were the following: 1)…

I like the world, the character design for the significant actors are really nice and the music is beautiful. I give credit to that and knowing it's developed by a pretty small team and the scope they've gone for is ambitious. You can see that the game is made in mind of…

The graphics are terrible, the animations are terrible, the story is terrible, the dialogue is terrible, the maps are terrible, the NPC's are terrible, and on and on. There is ZERO quality and fun here.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blood of Mehran was a very challenging and frustrating game, until I discovered parrying, it's so easy and satisfying and it completely solved the combat problem, at least in the early stages. This solved my problem with the game, but it shouldn't solely focus on parry when it doesn't tell you that it's important. The world looks amazing but the animations are really stiff and not good. Oh I almost forgot the music, it's so fresh and beautiful. The story was an ok vengeance story, but it…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For my early review, the game's combat feels good, but it's also a bit cluncky, at least as far as I played. But the fantastic music and the visuals create an atmosphere that I was longing to play, and I think so far, it's an acceptable experience for guys like me who want to kill some dumb enemies and enjoy the view

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blood of Mehran is a typical example of a small indie team dreaming bigger than it is meant to be. The basics seemed like a good idea, however, as the borrowed elements work, as does the unique location and the atmosphere emanating from it, but it's all for naught if the implementation is shoddy (that could still be forgiven), the story is cliché (maybe even this), and the gameplay is so boring and repetitive (well, not that anymore) that by the time we reach the end of the adventure, we don't…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A perhaps unintentional love letter to early 2010s hack-n-slash If you push thru the first levels and some of the intro cinematics, you'll find gorgeous set pieces, a few wonderfully choreographed scenes, fun executions, pretty top-tier music, and alright stealth sections, occasionally with lotsa fun verticality strewn in! (However sometimes corner kills wouldn't work properly and there's an INSANE amount of yellow paint LOL) The worst "bugs" I've seen so far is hair FX making everyone Super…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blood of Mehran is janky and should be tought in schools as an example of how big ambitions can lead to disasters. The most beautiful thing about this game is not the game itself but the story of how it came to be. If you can read Persian, search for “Ambassador of Love”, of course, in Persian. You’ll find that a dual of this game with the same hero, same game menus, but a different story exists. A story that was probably not the vision of the developers, and forced on them. Thankfully, they…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great story fantastic sound and music new atmosphere and environment overall a good game from a indie dev
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid story-driven game with fun combat and average graphics. Performance isn’t great for what it offers — something we see too often lately. It’s very linear but delivers a good experience overall. For the price tag, it’s decent and worth a play if you like narrative games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game if u like prince of persia and ghost of tsushima. The combat is fluid but not triple A level which doesnt keep u from not playing
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glanced at some new releases and this caught my eye. Unreal Engine 5 is well utilized here, looks great without tanking performance. Story is holding my attention, combat feels good, and I really like the soundtrack. Check this game out!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game; it reminds me a bit of Assassin's Creed 1, It has some issues and bugs, but considering the size of the development team, I think a lot of effort was put into it, and the quality is good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will recommend the game however it really needs improved combat. I think the stealth gameplay is fun but doesn't feel realistic to me. Enemy AI needs improvement but I think it's a bug causing the issue. When I have 2 or 3 enemies 1 will just watch me kill the other. When I have 4+ I get attacked by multiple enemies. I think 2 or 3 enemies should also attack as a group like I said it appears to be a bug issue. Overall I enjoy the game and give it a 7/10.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What gained my attention was the atmosphere and the architecture of ancient Mesopotamia, and the music just completed the picture. But gameplay wise it's a meh game, the animations look bad, I mean cringy bad, the face of the enemies are just bad, just BAD. But considering it's their first real game and the experience isn't tedious and kinda fun, I can recommend this to people who miss the classic linear games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The combat feels good, but sometimes it's a bit overwhelming and hard to progress, which it gets better when you get other weapons and the chance to upgrade your weapon. The environment and the music is top notch, I waited a long time for a game with this setting, overall I recommend this game to people who want a linear experience in the Mesopotamia
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know what it is about this game. It's a little janky, but in such a charming way. Like, you know it's an indie, and that's sort of beloved to me. Other reviews say the combat is clunky, but I sort of feel like it fits well for our protag - he's a dude with a bigger body, not a ninja, so he shouldn't really be super fluid, if that makes sense. I haven't gotten deep at all into the story, but I was certainly intrigued quite quickly on. I'll be playing more for sure.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked, but needs full keyboard remap feature for arrow keys not just wasd. Needs more patch.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid and fun action game. While the graphics could use a little more lighting and shader work they're overall fine for the game's style. a good 7.5/10 or better. Impressive work from an indy dev that doesn't have a history of making these kinds of games and makes me look forward to seeing what they might do in the future.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The things that hooked me about "Blood of Mehran" in my half an hour playthrough was the sheer scale of story telling and music that accompanied you through said stories. Gameplay and mechanics may feel a bit clanky, but the game just got released and hopefully they'll be fixed. Overall a nice add to your library, and a wonderful epic fantasy. You should give it a go.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is nice through back to the good old days of prince of persia. sound tracks+ graphic+ gameplay+
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Early impressions on the game : +Graphics : just amazing for such small game. also supports DLSS. +Music : Classic Persian Style. +Story : Compelling Revenge story -Some animations are not matching the face expressions. OGameplay : Can't tell yet since I haven't played much and will review the update later. Overall for this price is very good so far.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looking at this from the point of view of a small team, it is actually pretty impressive. Of course the Iranian theme attracted me to the game, but I was pleasantly surprised with the gameplay and overall quality of the game. It is derivative, and somewhat janky but overall solid game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game certainly has potential, but there are many flaws like clunky animations, the fighting feels meaningless and enemies are vastly unresponsive to hits at times, gameplay seems pretty straight-forwarded: sword swinging and throatcutting basic stealth mechanics, nothing out of the ordinary. Story is basically a turkish or indian soap series - not something i am highly fond of as well :)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was amazing ... amazingly good at making me request the fastest refund in my Steam history.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is beautiful! Just pure beautiful in both storyline and graphic!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →had this game recommended by a friend and honestly did not expect much, but i have to say credit where credit is due the graphics are very nice, the sound and music is great, the fact it has been dubbed in English not just subtitled is very nice and over all this is a great first outing for a indy studio i look forward to playing more. I will also say the voice acting in English really is quite alright :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i don't know how to explain it exactly. its kinda feels like an old PS2 Games. reminds me of [Prince of Persia] but with better graphics. Sometimes the graphic look really good, sometimes you feel its not they look flat almost like old animation cartoon. its also feels a bit unfinished game. to be honest i like "Arabian Nights" stories vibe and the idea behind it. they really tired something different here, but its feels like it needs more work to reach its full potential, i also wish…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As blowfish, I would be embarrassed to put out a game like this. The price is fair, yet the game shows its worth, and thats the problem, considering how cheap it is. Not much more to say, other then, no... its not really worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Highly underrated game! Lovely RPG that reminded me a lot of God of War mixed with Assassin's Creed and Prince of Persia. The story was emotional enough without being too complicated and the combat, though "clunky" felt quite rewarding to play. The visuals were beautiful and lighting made for good atmosphere in all the different locations. This is a game that went on longer than I expected, but I'm not mad about that because I enjoyed playing it. If you're a fan of early 2010 RPGs, you will…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the fighting style needs to flow better. It looks good in the videos, but I really hoping for a movement style similar to that of Assassin's Creed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blood of Mehran is a game with a lot of potential, but unfortunately, it falls short in some of the most important areas. The **music, story, and graphics** are genuinely great. The atmosphere is well done, and you can tell the developers put a lot of effort into creating the world and telling the story. But then you actually start playing... The **gameplay and dialogue** are by far the weakest parts of the experience. The gameplay feels underdeveloped and repetitive, while some of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game had such promise. But dont force players to use WASD for movement. Not everybody uses that and we should be able to choose our movement keys. That combined with the combat keys made it difficult to play effectively.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is okay - the concept and setting is there, the dialogue lacks any flair - broken english and the little girl is....annoying. Overall had fun with it for what it was 5/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+ Graphics looks decent. - Clunky combat system which is not suited for group encounters (you will constantly face large groups of enemies). - Absolutely horrid voice acting for the most part. Especially the main character sounds like his voice actor is falling asleep. - Yellow paint.

While it is developed by a pretty small team and starts off pretty good, the end of the game is just bad. You have to spend hours going down corridor to corridor to then be trapped in different areas to fight waves of the same enemies over and over again. Plus you will have multiple enemies constantly spamming their unblockable moves at the same time. If you get stuck in a corner or by…
