What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 265 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (47,171 of 59,460 positive).
Players find the game fun and chaotic, with enjoyable medieval combat. [1][2][3] The game is praised for its accessible combat system compared to predecessors. [4][5][6]

Game is literally unplayable due to hackers that can: 1. Remove weapons from players 2. Speed blitz every players in the game 3. Fly, me, you, every player fly 4. Crash the server If you're planning to buy this game, DON'T. At least not until tornbanner fixes this which I highly doubt they will.

Chivalry 2 is genuine, authentic fun. I spent most of my first 500 hours with it actively smiling while playing. It's not a perfect game - you'll see negative reviews rightfully point out issues with team balancing, teamswitching, hackers, toxicity, and developer abandonment. But everything that does work, works *really, really well* at making you feel like an invincible medieval knight with a giant axe hacking …

Bought it, did tutorial.. Loaded into my first 64 v 64, got impaled by a javelin, kicked into a river... hit in the head with a stone. I heard more insults and emote spams then 10 years of tf2 compiled in 1 match... Then to top it off, I saw a armless man running around, and I ♥♥♥♥ you not... he beat a man to death by headbutting his ♥♥♥♥. Why this armless man was crouch walking mid battle and headbutting peoples …

Love the chaos in the game. the matchmaking is quite fast too, under 1 min. best medieval slasher game so far.

one of the best medieval PvP games out there, basically an upgrade from Chivalry 1 in terms of gameplay as well as graphics and environments. but for me it improved a lot mainly because you can hold the block button instead of only relying on parry timing by clicking, which made combat way harder in the first game. now being able to keep your shield up longer or defend attacks without only relying on parries feels …

71% of the 265 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Chivalry 2. The complaint that keeps coming up: hackers ruin lobbies with speed hacks and crashes. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Chivalry II received "generally favorable" reviews according to the review aggregation website Metacritic. Fellow review aggregator OpenCritic assessed that the game received strong approval, being recommended by 85% of critics. Leana Hafer of IGN praised the battle of Chivalry 2, writing, "An axe-cellent compromise between hack-and-slash fun and skill-based medieval melee makes Chivalry 2's 64-player medieval brawls a ton of fun." PC Gamer liked how the game balanced the combat alongside the comedy describing it as "a brilliant mix of high skill and low comedy, and the best medieval combat game out there." PCGamesN enjoyed the maps, comparing the design and scale of the areas to "Hollywood…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I urge everyone reading this: before you buy anything from Torn Banner, Google what they did to Dave. I love the game. The problem is, it's very difficult for new players. The lobbies are often full of tryhards who completely ruin the game. It takes many hours to become really good. The next problem is Torn Banner Studios; they're a piece of crap. They left the game to its fate and developed a game that no one asked. R.I.P Dave
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At the end of the day, Chivalry 2 will no longer receive updates or support. We have to assume that what we're seeing now is a blip on a downward trajectory. If no improvements are going to be made, then with each day passing from this review I strongly encourage a skip. A list of a bunch of cons: - Game is 8 dollars frequently, DO NOT BUY FOR FULL PRICE. IT IS ON SALE FOR 80% OFF REGULARLY - Playerbase is constantly declining, now at the lowest its ever been. Leads to high ping and long…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. I often get harassed by toxic people yelling slurs in the chat and attacking me just for having a female name. Mods/Admins for the game do nothing. Yurik is a horrible admin/mod, who is roundly hated by everyone in the community. We're all too afraid to speak our minds because he bans everyone who criticizes him, but I have a right to tell the truth on my steam review, so if he retaliates and tries to intimidate me for this review, I will report him for intimidating steam reviewers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →put all the loser level 1000s together in a dungeon and this game could be fun. Make an AFK auto kick Tried to come back to this game they put me against a team of level 500 plus virgins.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I wasn't there for the release on the Epic Game store, I still picked it up when it did finally released on Steam, and god it was amazing. Burntout from Mordhau it was refreshing to get away from the duelists and have proper large scale battles. This game did just that very nicely with a few hiccups here and there. Played intensely up until Torn Banner decided the game was done and stopped pushing updates to go work on No More Room in Hell 2. Now its... just kinda dead. Its in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent gameplay, truly best in its class sword fighting. Some annoying classes and weapons to fight, but in the end it's all good fun. You will have to cross a wiiiiide skill gap, just counter counter counter learn those timings if you do get the game. Community can be fun, can be tough, real sweaty but that just means there's always a tougher guy to fight and learn from. I do not recommend for one simple reason: You aren't allowed to have that fun. The hacking situation has gotten outta…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY THIS GAME This is my favorite game all time. Amazing gameplay, crazy learning curve that's fun at every stage, whether you're a noob in your first game or have played for thousands of hours. Torn Banner has abandoned this wonderful project in favor of some terrible zombie game no one plays. As a result, hackers actively ruin any lobby you might begin to enjoy. The reporting system is broken or ignored. Hackers run free, running up to you at 100 miles an hour and killing you in…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself is actually really fun and enjoyable. The only problem is that 9/10 players are toxic sweats that don't go outside and will take any chance they get to bully you. Fun game, horrible player base.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Torn banner has earned a reputation as one of the worst companies purely by their apathy alone. Hackers literally run their game. I've been in duel servers where hackers are flying in the air and running the entire server, deciding who they like and who they want to kick. The hackers can DDOS anyone they want to remove anyone, they can kill anyone they want with infinite damage within the game. Its a pure embarrassment. I could only equate this level of apathy to a person conducting an…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lots of hacking/cheating, the game has become entirely impossible to enjoy (as of Nov 2025). What happens is someone will join with a weird-color name tag, then they starts no-clip floating around the map at fast speed and insta-killing anyone they touch. Why would I want to play or recommend a game like that? My advice is don't purchase this game until they fix it - it will simply be an upsetting experience so why bother? I don't know what they do to hack (or which platform they use), but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Upon opening the game, I highly recommend to go to Settings > Options > Game > UI > Enable Chat > Toggle to DIsable :) This will make much better expierence from the game, in my honest, subjective opinion

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developer and Torn Banner (Publisher) abandoned this game. So many hackers and they are not doing anything to fix this issue. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM TORN BANNER. They will promise to support the game with bug fixes for critical issues but it's been 2-3 years now since first batch of hackers appeared, and they are still here. ABANDONED GAME. DO NOT BUY. MANY HACKERS.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is fantastic to play. I picked this up on a very big sale for around £4. Worth every penny. There are a few issues like the archer does very little damage, is highly focused, and dies very quickly. This means the best way to play is to melee fight. Theres a steep learning curve to the combat in this game, and there are alot of very high level players at this point that make it incredibly difficult to learn without getting stomped. When asking for advice i was told to quit the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs abandoned the game for their failed game no more room in hell 2. No longer receives updates and is infested with cheaters. 4/05/26 It’s good that the game occasionally gets patches, but there are still many Chinese cheaters who move at the speed of sound and hack and slash players like it’s Fruit Ninja. We can’t even consistently kick them out because the vote-kicking system sucks. 6/10/26 There are chinese hackers that crash servers lol
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs suck. Servers suck. No updates at all. Fun gamemodes often hidden for no reason.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game, but unfortunately, it’s going to be a no from me. At this point, you’re dealing with servers that run like garbage, even when your ping looks perfectly fine. The latency is bad enough that it genuinely affects swordplay, which makes an already difficult combat system even more frustrating. On top of that, you’ll regularly run into people with literally thousands of hours who have been playing since launch and apparently treat this game like a full-time career, lmao.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its healthier to just assume the enemy team are orphans when they start winning rather then calling them the n word in global chat
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the game, but the "moderator" that runs Chivalry 2 is 0/10 who bans anyone who criticizes him. So if you buy this game, make sure to keep your mouth shut about any criticism, or else you risk getting perma banned from playing the game. Totally innocent players get banned and muted all the time despite having done nothing wrong. It's honestly killing the community.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have prob 100+ hours on Epic, and I do love the game. I downvote because the devs here are wildly incompetent and while the core gameplay is great, the devs have just done so many stupid things and failed to fix issues before moving on that I can't honestly recommend it. 1) Took the devs well over a year to add horses (something they promised at launch), and when they did, they were so terribly implemented that in order to get them to work they had to *lower the player count on the server to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is the bomb. I see a lot of reviews about "hacking", I've actually never encountered a hacker in all my time playing. It's a great game, but it needs more players. If you're new, I highly recommend starting as the Knight class, until you unlock the subclass Guardian at level 4. If you're better at shooting, definitely go with archer. Don't let the haters get to you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the game, but now it has a cheater problem that is ruining the experience a LOT. Game is literally unplayable due to hackers that can: 1. Remove weapons from players 2. Speed blitz every players in the game 3. Fly, me, you, every player fly 4. Crash the server Please fix that
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the chaos in the game. the matchmaking is quite fast too, under 1 min. best medieval slasher game so far.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, at this current time, too few playing the game and worse the game is suffering from a severe case of one punch men, ie cheaters that kill you in one hit. Can't recommend it right now.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →IQ is an indication of the mechanical efficiency of the brain and does not mean one necessarily will make good or bad decisions in life. Video game performance therefore correlates with IQ. As I'm fairly stupid, naturally, my performance in this video game is very mediocre. After hundreds of matches, my average score and position on the leaderboard has settled in the 3rd, 4th, & 5th place range and there's next to nothing I can do about it. Sometimes I get 1st, or get to play as the special MVP…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After almost 3000 hours in Mordhau, I decided to give Chivalry 2 a try when it was on sale (I recommend buying it when it’s 80–90% off). The first big difference is clear: the entry barrier is much more accessible. The combat system allows you to hold block, which makes mistakes less punishing and helps new players survive longer in fights. Also, parry and chamber are more forgiving, even giving a bit of a “invulnerability”, which makes fighting multiple enemies easier. This doesn’t mean the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While not a totally optimized game, the experience tickles the part of my brain that craves victory through visceral skill based combat.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s a fun game for casual play and a great way to switch off. The chat is entertaining, and there are some really cool people on it. God bless unmonitored in-game chats.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →used to hate this game simply bc i was bad...putting in sum time and learning game is a 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game was fun until devs stopped monitoring cheaters... games full of them now which unfortunately makes the game incredibly un fun to play

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has been abandoned by the devs for a long time. European servers are filled to the brim with bigots, blatant racists and genocide apologists. There's also the occasional hacker. It's like a trip to early 2000's internet. However, the game remains extremely fun. I find myself coming back to it time and time and again. The combat system is simple yet with extreme depth for technique and style points. Most of the Team Objective maps are decently balanced, and the map pool,…

Chivalry 2 kept these hands away from Hentai for almost 3 months. Highly recommended game for those who want to ween off their Hentai addiction.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't know what half the combat mechanics do. Neither does the guy I'm fighting. That's what makes it beautiful. 10/10. Edit: Team balance is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrible.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The voice line emotes alone are worth the price of admission, and that’s not a joke. While the combat system rewards high skill play and takes lots of hours to master, the most fun you can have is interacting with the maps (I’m still finding new objects and secret areas) combined with other players and emotes. Often the higher level the player, the sillier the encounters! You have to play to a point where you’re proficient at a weapon or two and competent enough to understand the basic…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An awesome game. Would be even better if Training Grounds was limited to level 100 players only, sucks to fight against level 1000's as a beginner, but an awesome game nonetheless. Absolutely love charging into battle, chopping down enemies with my Dane Axe or Longsword, the battle cries are dope af too. Very satisfying to have close victories where you have to kill the King or Duke at the end of the siege, and barely making it with the kill. A must buy on Instant Gaming for few euros/dollars…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a child predator problem, they always lurk in the back of the game trying to get those vulnerable. Archers got to go
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dumb fun. Despite being an unbalanced mess of a game it's still a heck of a good time. Spam battlecries and other stupid emotes all while loppin heads and ragdollin people with ballistae. For Agatha!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game but anyone above lvl 500 ruins it sweaty no life chuds this game def needs skill base match making
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great shouting simulator, really addictive too. I wish they added more content for Tenosia. P.S: do NOT read the chat in games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →These devs suck, they stop updating Chivalry to work on a basic zombie game when there are already so many. Now there is no game like this that still gets updates.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why do people like cheering for FC Barcalona or Manchester City? Because most people are simpletons and therefore love teams that win all the time. I love this game but it is marred by imbalanced maps whcih in turn encourages stat chasing. Each map is basically Manchester City vs Burnley or FC Barcelona vs Malaga. The game is designed to give an advantage for the attackers. This has somewhat logical reasons since it allows the player base to experience the entirety of the stages in each…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are very few games I play that I get wrecked more often than I win, and of those few its exceedingly rare that I enjoy the game. (This isn't meant a brag, just to put some perspective on this review) That said, I get destroyed almost every game lol, most of the time I die more than I kill, sometimes I'll go 0-5, I'll get a bunch of takedowns along the way, but usually die to a spear in the back or some crap. But man, is it fun lmao. I just go in with the mindset of I want my team to win…
