Not Recommended (for now) I bought Code Vein 2 for anime vampire action. What I got instead is Framerate Anxiety + The Censorship Conspiracy DLC. Performance: I’m running RTX 5090 + Ryzen 7 9800X3D and some areas are barely holding 60 FPS for 4k. I'm personally enjoying the game, but hot damn it runs like dookie. I have a 3080Ti and can barely get 45FPS. Hope they can better optimize it. Giving a thumbs up because I think it's fairly better than the previous game, but I'd enjoy it even more if it ran better.

If you are coming into this game hoping for a successor of the first game, you are going to be horribly dissappointed. PROS: -The visuals in certain locations is amazing. -The boosters you can get is really cool feature. -You could have a partner follow you around or you can dismiss them and instead get a buff. -You will have a good laugh at how bad alot of the things in this game are. CONS: -There is like a total of 15 enemy types, where they change outfit when you get to a new zone. -Bosses…

First and foremost, I should really play the game more thoroughly before leaving a review. However; I already see glaring issues I have with the Sequel. I played the absolute ♥♥♥♥ out of Code Vein(1), I fell in love with it's characters, it's themes, it's gothic vampire aesthetic, and it's story. A lot of people didn't like the original's Story, can't say I agree. When Code Vein 2 was announced I was ecstatic! I kept wondering what we'll do outside the Goal of the Mist? What will become of…

*I've updated this review, with the addendum appearing down below* This is written as someone who is a fan of CV1 and a longtime fan of the God Eater franchise. Against my own better judgement and personal policy, I preordered the game and went both barrels on the ultimate edition. So like the other 9,000 people who played this game on Steam, I'm somewhat of a fan. Or was a fan, at least. I would have refunded this game if not for the fact that it took me 11 hours to determine it wasn't any…

First and foremost the game simply does not run well. I have a great computer so it's not unbearable but it still doesn't run like it should with this command center of a PC that I have. Tons of pop in, choppy cutscene transitions, low framerate in several areas and situations. Also a general floatyness and less impactful feeling with the combat which is either a lag thing or just a general change that makes it feel off, likely the latter but it's still worth a mention. The customization…

They should have just made this a new IP instead of using the Code Vein IP to make a game that not only doesn't continue the story, but totally loses the "spirit" of the original -- the edgelord 90s goth vampire cheese that made Code Vein a cult hit. After 40 minutes of cringe dialogue about friendship and saving the world I'm done for now. Also, what did they do to the artstyle? The original is 7 years old and it looks better than this. I really wanted to like this more than I do. There’s a lot of effort here, and some genuinely good ideas, but it feels like the game loses sight of what made Code Vein work in the first place. The good The character creator is excellent. Easily one of the most detailed I’ve used. You can make something very intentional if you have the patience, and it’s arguably the strongest part of the game. The general style and aesthetic are also solid. Code Vein 2 should have been a dream come true for every fan of the first game. Code Vein 1 was far from perfect, but it had something far more important: a strong story, memorable characters, and a world that actually pulled you in. It had heart, atmosphere, and identity. Going into the sequel, expectations were high — not because the first game was flawless, but because the universe of Code Vein had enormous potential. And that potential is still visible here. You can see flashes of what this…

There will be some spoilers: I wanted to start with when this was revealed. I was hyped. I 100%'d code vein 1 and even got the golden pipe in the dlcs. So I was looking forward to how they would develop the world (GE territory) and the gameplay to be bigger and bolder. Review Normally I don't write reviews, but sometimes a game gets judged unfairly by people who only look at it on the surface. As a result, these good qualities are often overlooked, leading to the wrong impression. Performance issues can seriously hurt a game and needs to be addressed, but they don’t erase what the game does well, which is why I wrote this review. I already knew in advance the story wasn't a continuation (despite the true ending of the first being perfect for a sequel...) but I wanted to give it a chance. This game is a genuine letdown and I feel like there is a lot of coping going around in the community. Now, before I really begin, I want to make it clear that I didn't hate Code Vein 2. If anything, I'm disappointed by it precisely because I really enjoyed the first game. I’ve completed the game with all achievements unlocked and I can tell you that this is not worth pirating as well. Save your money and space for better games. This is going to be long list of grievances. For starters: „Revenant hunters will gather”, F@ck off Bandai Namco, with your marketing on Steam. Your game is not Bloodborne. It’s Elden Ring from Temu. After playing Code Vein I was really happy when the sequel was announced. After placing the successor, I must say I'm not only disappointed but also sad. - Just sad "combat"; it is much different than in the first game; - Bosses that are simply not fun and in the end you just power through them because of their annoying traits; one of the bosses is completely unfair because of a completely not telegraphed instant attack, and it has problems with being locked on by the camera (players will…

Typical UE5 performance issues. So, if you play at 1080p with a mid-tier or better PC, it's fine for 60fps at default settings. If you play at 1440p, you will want some upscaling or reduced quality. If willing, there is an UE5 tweaks mod in the form of an engine.ini you can add to the game files. Helps a bit. If you play at 4k, then you better have a current generation high-end PC or you will need to use upscaling and quality reduction plus the mod file just to get a reasonable 60fps. So, for…

I really wanted to love Code Vein 2 but it's honestly just frustrating. The combat is awful. To put it simply, this game doesn't know what it wants to be, the action system is incoherent, and the developers fail to communicate the actual intent. Before anything else, let's not kid ourselves and call this a Soulslike. It's just an action rpg - this game fails to give the player the roleplaying experience expected from a Soulslike. Unfortunately it is inferior game to the first one. Fundamentals are here (good combat with fun building options), but the rest is a let down. Bad characters, cringy dialogues, bland plot, ugly art style and no challenge (actually enemy moveset is much more demanding than in CV1, but character does enormous damage to everything, so you can just facetank everything). Why not let the consumer purchase the DLC as without the 'cost' of the costume dlc? Why do I need to fumble around to find how to even buy the dlc? I cannot in good faith recommend this game with this terrible practice.

As of writing this review, I am slightly over 9 hours in of playing this game and have only just entered the past of the second area. If my two major complaints are to be changed, I will change my review from a negative to a positive. I was really hoping this game would be a good followup to the first game. I knew it wasn't going to be a direct sequel, but I still had high hopes for it, but as I learned about some of the issues for the game, those hopes were quickly shattered. I purchased the…

I recently replayed Code Vein all the way through to justify a preorder for the sequel, and I have thoughts so far. Eight hours in, and I've been loving most of it. The combat's fun enough, the performance is actually pretty good considering how good the game looks, there's only moderate goonerbait with some of the designs, and the JP VA's did a great job. English feels kinda flat, but the casting seems pretty decent from what little I used. Below is me talking about things in slightly…

I wanted to spend more hours playing before giving my final verdict. PROS: - Initially, the combat has a great feel: fast, intuitive, and fun. There are various weapons to choose from depending on your playstyle. - The character stats progression is very interesting: by forming bonds with NPCs, you receive a Blood Code that you can equip, which grants you different overall stats (strength, dexterity, etc.). The game gives you two parry modes very early on, both very effective and very intuitive…

CV2 never figures out what kind of game it wants to be. the open world is ok but extremely empty and gets old fast combat ranges from fun to frustrating for regular enemies. however bosses are horrible and only get worse the later you go they often attack endlessly and are fairly difficult to stagger. even if you do manage to catch them off guard they recover in under a second and go right back to spamming. i question if the MC was even made with this game in mind, you are very very slow and…

If you're coming to play this game expecting the same feel and style as the first game. Then don't bother with it. It's combat and overall feel is more janky than the first game with loading and performance issues when going around to new areas which is constant. The gothic style of the world isn't there and overall gameplay is just an easter egg hunt for all the shinies before you move on while being bombarded by the same fights over and over.

This game is not great. Not necessarily bad, but it's got some pretty serious issues. Negatives to get them out of the way: The framerate is awful, tanks randomly all the time for seemingly no reason. Crafting system is useless, doesn't add anything. Story is okay but the time travel is extremely tedious towards the end when you have to hop around constantly. Teleporting to specific loading screens to teleport again just to buy an item from the shop. The rules of the story are also…

I wish steam had a middling option for recommending the game. Short answer is the game is not worth it all full price, wait for at least a 30% discount. Long answer (no significant spoilers): As someone who loves the God Eater series and the OG Code Vein (with having spent 100+ hours on it), I am quite a bit disappointed with CV2. Upon completing it, getting all endings and achievements I feel deeply unsatisfied with the game. Let's start off with the good with a lot of but(s). 1. The game's…

This game annoys me. not because of the usual stuff like performance, which don't get me wrong has lot of room for improvement or due to gameplay reasons because in fact, I feel like this plays better than the original in every single way. it annoys me because they took the plot and artstyle of the first game and threw them out the window. it's a good game so far, but it's not code vein. Bit of an update after finishing the game with the true ending. I've enjoyed my experience, when it comes…

A disclaimer: I knew this game would run poorly. I also know Nioh 3 is going to run poorly, and because I was looking forward to both games tremendously (the original Code Vein being one of my personal favorite games, despite its flaws) I preemptively upgraded my computer. On a 5080 and a 9800X3D I can run Code Vein 2 on max settings with no frame drops, but my rig still runs hot and I can imagine my 3070ti crying tears of blood trying to run this on medium. All this to say I'm sure complaints…

TLDR: if you have to choose between this or Nioh 3, choose Nioh 3. The demo showed that it was by far the better game in every way possible (except the voice acting lololol) this game had the potential for the sauce, but it falls flat because most of this game feels like they just CTRL + C and CTRL + V everything from Elden Ring, but didn't understand what made that game good. They made Code Vein 2 open world, but most of it is empty. They added a mount, but it drives like vehicles did in…

Played it a lot and had a good time with the game. If you want more Code Vein then this is it. Some notes for those on the fence. Combat - improved UI- eh, not as good Story- pretty good Lou - my wife Build variety and accessibility - improved Performance - not unplayable but noticeable Characters - pretty good Weapons - more varied and unique Character Creator - improved Open World - I was iffy at first but it was nice Personally I think its worth the money I spent. That's it, later.

Quite frankly the biggest piece of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I've ever played. This game feels like a direct downgrade from Code Vein 1. Every single enemy has super armor and has no reaction to most of your attacks. Performance of this game is basically nonexistent. I don't even want a refund, just take this game off of my library. Character creator is fine and some of dialogue I found funny, but I could have gone my life without experiencing this game.

This is great but if your a fan of the first game PLEASE know it's heavily different! Code Vein 1 was heavily inspired off darksoul with a gothic vampire aesthetic. While it does *partially* retain this aesthetic it's no where near as heavy as it was in the first game. It also is based more off Elden ring rather then dark souls now with a new open world. Blood codes have also had a HUGE overhaul if your like me you loved the first game because of the insane customization you can have for…

Wait for a sale. I think at best it's as good as the first game, but for different reasons. The characters here are given a bit more depth than previously even if you are only getting the cliff notes version of their lives. The story itself feels closer to an Octopath Traveler vibe. You get multiple short stories that have tidbits of the main plot, but don't really interact outside of their own little time bubble. Downside is it also comes across a bit harem anime at times. Like I personally…

How do you completely change everything about the game's design and make it worse. UI is wordy/busy and inconvenient, weapon system and blood veil system completely scrapped and turned into an overcomplicated, separated mess. Can't even dodge properly with a roll, and adds a useless shield which negates the point of guarding/parrying with a weapon. You don't even start out with enough skills to help tell them apart or be of much use. And generally there is an invincible second after knockdowns,…

Code Vein 2! A sequel to the very edgy and certainly dubious Soulslike from years ago which I thought Bandai forgot about. Now that I've 100%'ed it, I shall leave my worthless opinion for your viewing pleasure. TL;DR: It is a fun game. It is not a bad game. It is a decent game. It is a 6/10 at most. It is worse than Code Vein 1 in pretty much all aspects. Only buy if you really want a new game that (kind of) follows Code Vein's world and gameplay style. Only get at a deep discount. Just buy…
