What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 219 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (319 of 495 positive).
Players praise the game for capturing the Burnout experience, calling it a fun arcade racer. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the game has janky handling, bugs, and performance issues. [4][5][6]

Playing this i realized i'd rather just play Burnout. And it's really unfortunate, because i was really looking forward to this game, but it just feels like an Alpha. -The handling is weird and really unpredictable -The performance can be ok, tho there are too many frame drops. One time i took down an opponent and after that the frame rate just DIPPED to 10 FPS and didn't change back at all. Not really …

Astute observers may notice that despite saying I'd refund the game, I have pumped almost an additional 30 hours of play time. Why? Well, truth is, I did refund it. Despite its problems it still felt enough like Burnout that I had an itching to go back and play it. And you know what? It is actually pretty fun. A lot of it is make-your-own fun with the track editor and the 400km² canvas, and its integration with how …

TL;DR: It's fun af and feels like Burnout Paradise with a Trackmania influence. THQ Nordic pulled the funding for this dedicated 10person developer team which is 'Three Fields Entertainment', basically leaving them to fend for themselves. The team consists of the OG Burnout creators, however EA (yeah, that dogarse company) owns the rights to the Burnout brand, so Three Frields then had to rebrand, thus the title …

This is actually turning out to be my surprise of the year. I've played the previous Three Fields games, and yeah, not the greatest. With each one they've gotten a little bigger and better, but this is finally the modern Burnout-esque game I've been hoping for from them since the start. It might even be better than Burnout Paradise. Mind you, that isn't my favorite Burnout, I like the ones between 2 and Paradise the …

Steam really needs to give you more review options than "All my friends should buy this" and "I want the studio behind this shut down". This is a middle-of-the-road game that is impossible to fairly review with a system like Steams. There's enough here to have fun with, but not enough to really stand out among other racing games - a common problem among indie racing games, honestly. If Burnout's style of gameplay …

68% of the 219 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Wreckreation. The complaint that keeps coming up: handling and physics feel weird or unpredictable. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

60 of 294 · most liked firstI've just played what I can only describe as a "racing game," in the same way that a microwave is a "fireplace." It's technically true, but misses the point entirely. The handling is revolutionary. Brakes? Those are just optional, decorative pedals. You can take a 90-degree turn at 200 mph like you're glued to a carousel. It's less "racing" and more "vehicular figure skating." And the features! Forget multiple car camera angles, what you really need is the ability to open your car doors in mid…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fool me once, shame on you (Dangerous Driving). Fool me twice, shame on me (Wreckreation). Purchasing this game was a gamble, and I lost. Like many others, I bought into the trailers and fell for the idea of what this game could be. That ended up being a huge mistake! Believe the bad reviews, people. The handling is terrible, physics are even worse, races are super boring, and the graphics look like crap (even when fully maxed out). As it stands, Wreckreation couldn't be more of a let down. I…

positive · AI labelView post →The trailer and marketing makes it seem like it's mainly a multiplayer game with track building, while that's one part of the game, it's also very much a single player game with lots of fun discovery content. It gives me burnout vibes with the racing and crashing Also you can play it in VR with UEVR, Wheel support isn't native yet but works modded like this: [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZAMf28fCdY] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZAMf28fCdY

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Full video review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9r4lYF2g6A Wreckreation is the latest game from Three Fields Entertainment, a studio founded by former Criterion devs who worked on the Burnout games that we all love. Wreckreation promises to be a mashup of both Burnout, and Trackmania, with ultimate player freedom being the focus. In my time with the game, I found many questionable design decisions, a slog of a singleplayer mode and a very barren, boring open-world. The new feature,…

If you absolutely must have some sort of burnout experience and understand this is a new title freshly launched from a team of 10 dedicated devs, absolutely pick up this game. GOOD; - Burnout paradise vibes down to a T with the controls practically the same as that game - The ability to customize the map and street names adds an extra layer of personalization above just the wacky track…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I acknowledge that it's a small dev team working within a budget here and appreciate the effort, but no, this ain't it. At least the game doesn't justify the current price as of now. Many have already pointed out the janky handling physics; this is true, and it affects the gameplay more than I've thought. I expected there won't be any snappy maneuvers to do swift and precise racing, but inability to turn fast enough comes to play in opponent takedowns as well; you can't turn your vehicle's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm giving this game a political thumbs up and will proceed to kindly screw the game as it currently deserves. I hope 3Fields Entertainment survives in some capacity, but there's nothing to be gained from pretending this wasn't going to happen. Wreckreation dev "forced" to put staff at risk of redundancy because publisher Embracer offers no "enthusiasm or financial support" Well, this whole situation is already bad enough to make me run a good cop - bad cop scenario. This game is completely…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Look, this is exactly what AA games should be. Lower budget, familiar gameplay, but doing something weird and interesting. This isn't super innovative, this isn't trying to be a work of art. It's just a fun racing game that lets you crash into other racers like Burnout and the later Need For Speed games did before it. Heck, it's published by the corpse of THQ - the kings of AA games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game RULES. I'm having a blast with it so far. I'll use my review to contrast some negativity I've seen around this game, and why you shouldn't follow a crowd who delights in perpetually kicking everything around them: "The steering/drifting physics feel weird" 1) It's an arcade racer 2) Even in well-known and beloved franchises, the new iteration of a racing game takes time to get used to. Play Mario Kart 7 for a year and then play 8. Tell me there's not a period of getting used to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a wreck. This should of been early access or not released at all. It's basically a generic Burnout with an empty boring map. The music is good at least. Car damage is lackluster. The physics and car handling is wonky. Horrible sound effects. You can't even switch the cars camera. Sometimes it's so far away when you are driving that you can't see where you are going. Can't fast travel to anything on the map. They force you to drive endlessly and waste time to get where you want to go.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →With a 7800X3D and a RTX 4070 Ti Super the framerate is unlocked but there is consistent stutter which ruins the experience. The physics engine is slightly different to Burnout Paradise which changes the sense of speed and steering making it feel slightly juddery at times. The flat spins in the game feel very unnatural and it is not based on the physics at all. The graphics remind me of the remastered Burnout Paradise that brings back that sense of nostagia which I love. As a diehard Burnout…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the game straight from release and have enjoyed playing it. Sure it's had/ still has some issues, but a number of them have already been sorted through patches. It's just some good ol' arcadey chaotic fun. The handling of vehicles I found a bit mixed at the beginning, but I can tell the improvements after some updates. Performance has been a bit up and down, over 40 hours of playing, about 3 crashes, and 3 (of the same type of game breaker (which I think has been fixed) and one time…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It has been improved quite a bit since launch and the devs are continuing to update it in response to player's feedback where they possibly can. In particular, drifting is significantly better/easier. Keyboard players can remap keys (some keys are reserved for core game functions at this stage though) It's an impressive effort for such a small team. I wreckommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wreckreation is very disappointing. Despite the improvements from their previous game, Dangerous Driving, there is still a lot of issues here as well. I have a video review that I recommend watching, but I will also put an abridged version for the Steam review. I was also provided a review key, but this did not change my opinion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7z9sQUmzH0 Multiplayer There are a bunch of challenges inspired by the ones from Burnout Paradise and NFS Most Wanted 2012. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is it jank? Oh yes. Is it odd? Most definitely. Is it good fun? Oh yes. Please try this game. Did you enjoy Burnout: Paradise? Were you frustrated like me that no game (apart from maybe Most Wanted 2012) ever properly followed it up? Are you okay with it being revived if it's by a budget indie studio trying their hearts out? If so, please give this a shot. If not, still give it a shot. It's the first game I'd describe as "properly Burnout" in nearly 15 years, and once you get past the first…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pure garbage. - No main menu. - Game throws you into a crappy beginner race when you launch start on steam (my first time it glitched out and I didn't know I was "racing" by myself on the main island of the map so I had to reset and start it again). - No options screen for graphics. Barely a controls UI (can't remap). What little there is on the stats screen / setting up events is handwritten scribble and looks like crap. - I get this is an arcade-y-type game but the driving sucks, you barely…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →By far, way too rough around the edges to recommend. As someone who has over 1000 combined hours across the TrackMania games, and as someone who will gladly give raving reviews to Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge (Burnout 3 is a 10/10 masterpiece, seriously), I wanted to be excited about Wreckreation. It's really disappointing. This is Three Fields Entertainment's most polished game to date, but that doesn't say much because this game is still only about as polished as a gravel driveway. For a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This "game" is the epitomize of EVERYTHING I absolutely HATE about modern games: Extremely bland open world, boring user interface, Unreal Engine stuttering, ugly "realistic" graphics with horrendous visuals artifacts no matter the settings (just make it look like a PS2 game it would unironically be better atp). a complete lack of style and unique vision, mishandling a genre once beloved, no fun to be found, gigantic download size for no reason, a crappier version of what's been done better…

I must say dont listen to the idiots here they only play car x and nfs lmao, yall wouldnt know a good game if it was slung at you like a rock or let me rephrase this so you can understand, if it were named call of duty or fortnite youd play it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm so confused about all of the negative reviews here. If you love burnout, you'll love this. It's not perfect, but it's bringing classic arcade racing back.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sigh.. I had a longer review until Steam decided to refresh and I lost it all. So lets just go with a super truncated version. This is not Burnout. This is a tech demo and I'm disappointed. I want so bad for Burnout to be a thing a again but the devs need to take a big step back and look at the big picture if they want this to succeed. It's a big empty world with mostly nothing but straight roads with gentle curves and minor slopes, some tiny ramps to smash billboards and a bunch of trees. No…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I should have expected what I was getting into when I saw mixed reviews. I was just so hopeful for another Burnout style game, but this was not it. It tries so hard to be Burnout Paradise, to the point it has none of its own identity, and even then, it fails to have anything that made Burnout fun. The cars handle absolutely awful, the amount of times I've completely slid off the road just trying to make a slight turn. The traffic is horrendous, appearing right in front of you at times, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I purchased this right away when available. I held on hoping for patches. I've asked them two times, "why this was not released as early access". Nothing. I guess they have been working on this for at least 2 years. Sadly, for a 1.0 release with no early access, this was horriable. My cost 50 dollars. There is currently 8 players in game on steam and a peak of 199 players lifetime. Was just announced, the Studio is dissolving. With sooo many fixes and adjustments needed, there patches so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was about to pass on this game after looking at the reviews but I decided to try it anyway and MAN I love it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is everything I wanted it to be and more. The open world and live editing adds so much. The only thing I wish was for cross-play but besides that, this game is solid. Update: They have added cross-play and it's amazing!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wreckreation doesn't offer an in-game option to switch between metric and imperial units, instead it... checks the keyboard layout?? Each next thing I learn about this game has me more surprised, especially since this is a harder way to get this done, and they broke it anyway...
negative · AI labelView post →As expected, it wasn't as bad as people were letting on. Wreckreation is an awesome and fun game only let down by bugs and glitches here and there that won't phase you if you like old games like I do. It feels like a Burnout Paradise clone, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I love that you can place track anywhere you want and do whatever you want in your own time. No big arrows telling you to go here or there, no annoying dialogue, just raw racing and destruction the way I like it.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While the game had some issues at launch, it has continued to improve with every update. I think expectations for some people were way too high for such a small studio. You can tell this was a labor of love and they wanted to put out a game like the burnout series before it. Wreckreation for me, does a great job at giving me everything I loved from burnout. There is no other game that comes anywhere as close to the burnout series as wreckreation does. Far from a perfect game, its still a super…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I dreamed about a new BURNOUT for a long time. But EA dropped it years ago. The "Remastered" Paradise was rubbish and badly made. Now this! I love this game. And, playing it from day one - I see constant improvements! WRECKREATION is maybe a little early access, but still worth the money. I hope for more content and updates in the future will make this fair priced arcade racer even more cool. As a BURNOUT greybeard (Since Original XBOX! 2001) I can tell you this is a really nice game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All my AI opponents now start every race in a giant pile that explodes and then they do nothing. There's nobody playing online. I basically don't even have a game now. I'll consider looking at this game again and changing my review if cross-platform is actually delivered and the game works. I regret not refunding it when I could.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I try to avoid negative reviews, let alone after 10 minutes. This game is truly just slop for the bin. Wreckfest 1 and 2 are better, Grid, Trackmania, the list goes on. TLDR: The handling is on rails, the graphics are misrepresented, the UI is atrocious and menus are not well presented, the damage model is not good, and features are lacking upon release. The graphics are dated, and the performance doesn't correlate, the performance is adequate. The real problems stem from the handling, user…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As an avid Burnout Paradise fan, I immediately felt the inspiration after just 30 minutes of playing. From the messages scrolling across the bottom (with basically the exact font from Paradise), every road having a "Wreckord" for time trials and drifts, collectibles everywhere including smashing gates and billboards, I truly feel like this game took the best from Paradise and made it even better with the ability to make your world your own. The online multiplayer even has challenges in which…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Controls can not be configured, steering wheels don't work, with keyboard one is forced to use WASD. So if you are not a controller driver who likes the default layout, this game is not for you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →By all metrics, I should like this game but I don't The good: As a burnout fan, it's nice to explore a world that isn't Paradise City for the first time in 17 years. In a world where EA has decided it is more profitable to sit on the Burnout IP than it is to revive it, its nice to see another publisher take a chance bringing the genre back. I can only hope that, given the game has only been out for 24 hours at time of review, they can capitalize on the potential they have with this game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't think this game is salvageable even if they end up fixing the stutter: - Driving feels really bad, your car is glued to the road. - No sense of speed; Floaty camera shake just makes it feel like your drunk. - Way too much air control that just feels like a slider moving left and right, it just feels terrible - The map is hideous, and most of it is just long straights. What a shame.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: This game is made by a tiny studio of 10 people, if you're going into this with expectations of a AAA new Burnout title you will be disappointed. The developers HAVE shown interest in wanting to make this a good game, it absolutely CAN become a fantastic game but it won't do so without support! I ABSOLUTELY recommend this when the market is saturated with simulators and theres such a gap in the market for arcade racers like this one, it has such high potential to become a fantastic game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One game that I want to buy on gog but have paused on is Wreckreation (Dangerous Driving 2 aka 'Burnout reborn'), as the gog version doesn't have **any** multiplayer, while the steam version does. This is a big deal since the entire 'spin' in this follow-up is 'make tracks, jumps, stunts, and havoc with your friends in real-time, involving the game world at ground level or the open space sky-high'. Up until recently the gog page listed multiplayer as a feature, even though reviews and forum…
neutral · AI labelView post →I feel this game on launch got negative review bombed because many had various different expectations of what they thought this game would be. As a day 1 buyer, I can say while it’s not perfect it’s definitely been holding up to expectations I’ve personally wanted from the game when I originally wish listed it years ago. Granted it’s not perfect but it’s encouraging to already see a patch along with road map openly shared. Additionally as a fan of need for speed and burnout growing up this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game honestly had so much potential to an extent and it's clear they obviously didn't learn from Dangerous Driving. Driving isn't fun at all, Combat is atrocious no matter what car you drive. The map is way too big for a team of 10 people and buying assets makes it just bleh. Unreal Engine for a racing game is a recipe for disaster imo. For some reason they thought a forza/burnout/trackmania would be a good idea, but it just doesn't work.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not Recommended. Wide-scale reworks are needed. This is a beta product. [ Notes ] Bad qualities: - The map. It's not great. Massive, boring, unremarkable UE generated looking map. There needs to be smaller detailed areas. I understand this was done so the player has space to build, but that's not enough for me, the game could still have many large spaces with smaller detailed areas. It feels like a fake world, as opposed to other arcade racing game worlds. Burnout maps feel like there could…

The team has been incredibly communicative and transparent throughout every update, and the game has had tons of community support. As for the game itself, if you are longing for a return to the glory days of Burnout,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has potential and some fun ideas, but right now several issues ruin the experience for me. The biggest problem is the AI. In Skytrack races I’ve even seen AI cars appear or “teleport” ahead after crashes, which makes races feel inconsistent and frustrating. Takedown races are also problematic. The cutscenes interrupt the flow too much, and the whole mode feels very scripted instead of dynamic. It often feels like the outcome is predetermined rather than based on your driving, which…

Basically, take need for speed most wanted, add in some extra glorified stunts, and its pretty much that. i like that you can change your day/night and increase traffic levels etc on the fly, and that you can literally just drive around the open world, have a bunch of fun, get all the collectible jumps, break things, take part in some friends leaderboards, and play some races against AI. it has multiplayer, but thats not really my thing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm having lots of fun with the game so far. I've loved every Burnout game, and Dangerous Driving. Took a chance when this was £19.99, and it was money well spent. Gotta love a takedown in a race. I hope the developer survives and can continue development on expanding the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game honestly did launch a little rough, but the developers kept at it and fixed all of the major issues and complaints a lot of people had with the game. Is it a perfect successor to Burnout Paradise? Mostly, but with the small number of people who worked on this game in mind, this is a fantastic attempt that mostly sticks the landing. Ultimately, this is a game worth playing if you played Paradise to death.

However, I need to write this review as a warning: Do not buy this game. Wreckreation fundamentally fails at basic vehicle handling, cameras, physics and collision, environmental design, UI/UX, and visual identity. I wouldn't feel comfortable buying Wreckreation in this state at Early Access, let alone at full-retail 1.0, and will not outside of a NMS-style overhaul. You…
