What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 93 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (191 of 288 positive).
Some reviewers note the game has a steep difficulty curve and balance problems. [1][2][3] Several players complain about launch crashes and poor performance on modern systems. [4][5][6]

Lots of potential, but ultimately disappointing. The third entry in a realistic RTS series, it's absolutely filled with inaccuracies - supposed to take place in 1948, it includes tech ranging from 1940 to 1970 thrown together in truly haphazard fashion. Sometimes bizarrely accurate and little-known post-War inclusions are made, but much of the game is a mashup of "rule of cool" Vietnam era equipment that renders the …

This game is a mess. Lets talk about the good stuff first. The graphics and special effects look great. It would really add to the immersion if it wasn't for all the cons the game has. Now, the bad. First lets talk performance. And boy is there a lot to say. This game runs at single digit framerates at times even on the most modern rigs. It is constantly below 30 no matter what you do. And that is if you can get it …

CPCW is an acceptable good Tactic-Strategy game. In my Opinion a good game to play on rainy weekends with a nice cup of coffee. Details: Graphics - 8/10 The ingame graphic is awesome detailed. Enviroment looks close steps to realistic, nicely done with much love to detalis. Also the realistic reactions are nice to look at (example: Weather / grenade in forest burns trees down / ramming electricity pylons make'em …

This is a great game, but a little rough around the edges. There is a huge difficulty jump in the last act of the campaign. The enemy become very aggressive, constantly shells my position with artillery and airstrike, and always counter attack to attempt to take back control points. It plays more like a Company of Heroes game which isn't really a bad thing. Unit line of sight plays an important role. Heavy tanks and …

I initially gave this a negative review because it crashes on launch. The (new?) developers of the game are clearly trying to update the game and have removed the TAGES copy protection. Hopefully they'll resolve the crash issue. Until they do, the game will lauch if the computer is offline. To my mind this is better than a game that insists on being online all the time. Codename Panzers is a great series of tactical …

Game style : * fun RTS * rock paper scissor mechanism * no base building * fog of war * in essence only infantry and amory (tanks, APC) so no air or naval battles * healing (infantery) and repairing units (APC) * no indepth tactics needed or reading a thick manual * limited units due to fixed unit cap * capture…

Meanwhile your units are constantly shouting for help, to acknowledge your command, because they see danger or just to make noise (presumably because the makers thought that was funny). The combat itself is hard to immerge in, because your troops are constantly outnumbered but still fight off hordes of enemy troops like it's nothing. The tutorial teaches you how to order…

While it does do some interesting things, it somehow manages to look worse than the other two when zoomed in. The effects do the job, but the infantry models really needed work. Lack of unit variety, and what units there are completely don't make sense in the setting (It's 1949, so naturally tanks, aircraft, and infantry units from the late 1950s and early 1960s form the backbone while more reasonable vehicles are regulated…

As you would expect from the name a lot of your units are armoured vehicals be they Tanks, APCS etc etc. Infanty play a part but mostly you are going to be using the Armour as a lance to the enemy. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Codename Panzers: Cold War is very much OK until such time , when you have advanced far enough in the game, that as you by chance are facing a situation where you realize that the game is not about doing the missions but about doing the objectives in the particular mission in the order that the game wants you to or else it will be impossible to defend the so called Prestige Points. The game is all about these Prestige Points (which has changed since Codename Panzers: Phase One & Phase Two)…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its definitely an old game. AI is beyond worthless. Takes several clicks and alot of backtracking to make sure all your units actually moved, and then hours as you wait for the half broke AI to actually register simple moves like move forward 5 feet. You order your MBTs to move up first, then you order your repair tanks, which are like 5 tank lengths behind the MBTs and still somehow the repair tanks get in FRONT of the MBTs and just all die. Infantry is pretty useless, game seems like it…
