What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 177 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (570 of 630 positive).
Players find Cosmic Express deceptively difficult despite its simple, cute premise. [1][2][3] Some players note that late-game levels become frustrating rather than fun. [4][2][5]

tl/dr: Probably a fine puzzle game, but the interface isn't fun with a keyboard and mouse. You primarily interact with the game by clicking and dragging, which is awkward and a little uncomfortable to do with a keyboard and mouse. This very strongly feels like a product that was designed for a touch interface first and foremost. If the game looks appealing to you I'd suggest getting the phone/tablet version. Not …

Do you want to know how long it took me to finish every level in this puzzler? 3 years. Yes, really! So don't be fooled by the squishy, adorable aliens. Cosmic Express will deep-fry your brain until smoke comes out of your ears.

A clever puzzle game with a simple premise: draw train tracks to pick up and drop off passengers. The puzzles gradually become more challenging and can lead to some satisfying "aha!" moments, though a few levels felt more frustrating than fun. The minimalist presentation works well, and while it didn't completely blow me away, it's a solid puzzle game that's worth checking out if you enjoy the genre.

The gameplay is extremely simple, you just draw a single rail. However, the game is surprisingly challenging. I've had many moments when I thought "this level is impossible, I've tried everything", only for it to finally click. At some point, levels becomes to complex to figure the whole solution in your head and you have to try something, fail, and try again. At the very end (Nova 7's), it becomes more frustrating …

Cosmic Express is based on a simple premise (draw a path to reach things in the right order) but the puzzles quickly become difficult and require both logical deduction and out of the box thinking. The puzzle design is very tight and a lot of thought was clearly put into it. There were many puzzles that looked impossible but were incredibly satisfying once the solution was found. As a nice bonus, some of the puzzles …

neutral · AI labelView post →Spooky Express is announced on my birthday! But let's not go out of track. I'm working on the level design for the game and I cannot wait for you to see the potential of the mechanics, less topological and more playful than the original Cosmic Express. Don't be scared to wishlist it!

We're still hearing from fans of Sokobond / Cosmic Express who had no idea this game was coming, so every share helps!
neutral · AI labelView post →The first thing I love about this game is the soft colors. The gameplay is also really easy to understand. You basically build train tracks through each little space station and try to figure out the right route to pick up all the aliens and bring them safely to their homes. At first, it feels pretty simple because you only have a few things to think about, but the levels gradually introduce more things that you have to consider. You have to think about where the train should go, which aliens…

neutral · AI labelView post →Spooky Express is such an underappreciated game - if you liked Cosmic Express or Sokobond Express, it's like that except even better IMO.
positive · AI labelView post →Maybe I'm dumb but it felt like I was bruteforcing the hardest puzzles in this game instead of "solving" them. I liked that the developers tried to push the limits with a veeery small amount of mechanics but this type of puzzles is just not for me. Other than that - every puzzle felt unique so that's good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have such mixed opinions on this game. I want to like it, and I'll likely keep trying to play it, but its far less satisfying than the other train-based puzzle games I've played (e.g. Railbound). I tend to like Draknek games, but this one just doesn't land for me, and I've tried picking it up multiple times now. In the puzzles, all you do is place down tracks (of which a limitless number are provided). There's only one train per level (at least, where I am at in the game) and tracks can't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I respect the puzzles in this game, but for some reason they just don't click with me. Usually, they are either too easy or too hard. A good puzzle should ideally give you an eureka moment when you figure it out. When I solve these ones it's just "Uh, oh, okay then"

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game overstays it's welcome, badly. After a dozen puzzles or so it feels repetitive. This gets worse as the difficulty goes up, because it's very hard to think through the larger boards without brute forcing some attempts, I never really felt like I was solving something, just working on it until something went right. The difficulty curve is all over the place. Some of the hardest puzzles in the game are in the first area, and you're supposed to go back and forth between areas, but they…

That implies many possible paths and, you probably guessed it, many tries. This game is not a puzzle game which you can close and think about, this is pure trial and error. "But trial and error is bad" - yes I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played on Steam Deck. I like Draknek puzzles but this one didn't catch me. I struggled to get started on each puzzle without random experimentation, which if intentional is why I did not enjoy it. Many of the puzzles did not feel like there was a crux to discover, just an order of laying down tracks to stumble upon.

neutral · AI labelView post →One of the most difficult puzzle game I have ever played. It's already hard to enjoy a difficult puzzle game, but this feels like there is not enough logical deductions in puzzles to make them fun. You kinda try bunch of different paths until something works. Buy "A Monster's Expedition" or "A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build" from Draknek and Friends instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really elegant puzzle game - I always found Cosmic Express the hardest of Draknek's games (for my brain at least) but this makes all the right changes for me and felt so good to play when I tried it earlier this year. Get excited! Buy it for your friends!
positive · AI labelView post →Held off on this one for awhile. Had it in my library forever before I eventually touched it. As a big fan of puzzle games I had anticipated greatness from this one and I think a part of me almost wanted to savor it in a way. I have not been disappointed. This is a fantastic puzzle game with so much charm. The gameplay is very elegant in its simplicity yet manages to offer peak problem solving and critical thinking. Particularly the later levels. You've got to love how the late game in these…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review is based on 100% completion and 5.7 hours of gameplay. Recommendation: Would I recommend this game? Yes, if you enjoy puzzle games, this is an okay choice for a bit of brain exercise. I won’t lie, some of these "simple" puzzles are not so simple and had me stumped for a good bit of time. Taking breaks and trying to gain a different perspective helped, so it is doable. If you get super stuck, there are solutions online that can give you a little help. However, if you’re looking for…

[17/20⭐, 35h🏅, 4/5💡] Context Cosmic Express is in essence a line drawing game. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cosmic Express is a cute puzzle game where you plan train routes to be able to pick upp all aliens and take them to their designated home. It can be both simple and tricky at times, however I found the game experience pretty relaxing. You have all the time in the world to plan your routes and once you're set, you click play and let the train go - not like other games where you need to intervene/time things perfectly for example. It's definitely worth to pick up on a sale!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can never look at a train again..... it was fun getting through the constellations at first, but the wild difficulty swings got especially rough in the challenge levels... I don't know if having an actual soundtrack would have driven me crazy, but the silence of staring at a level for hours is DEAFENING AAAAAA But in space, nobody can hear me scream o_o
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played my fair share of puzzle games, and while I would argue I'm better than average at them, this game humbled me real quick. I stopped playing it for a while because I was so discouraged. I was stuck on several levels in each constellation, and just sort of abandoned it. I went back to it on a whim, and decided I would take another crack at it. After struggling with the same levels that I gave up on many times before, I decided to just go to a fresh constellation. I beat a handful of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cosmic Express is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. The mobile app is a very basic pathing puzzle, you put your finger on your iPhone screen and draw a path from the start of the puzzle grid, but of course you need to do it in exactly the right order such that your "train" collects and deposits passengers in the right order. It's a very shallow experience, to be expected from lazy mobile apps and cash…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6/10 cute easy little puzzle game for kids......JESUS!!!! this gets hard, well still being on the easy side of hard puzzles by level 11 i thought this game was going to become insanely hard, until i found out the difficulty loops every new area the game ramps up in difficulty but returns to baby easy every time they introduce a new rules in the new areas most can be solved at almost first glance, but some of them will stump you for a decent bit got at least 10+ hours offline
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The developer has kindly stated we're expected to figure out what doesn't work and work backwards from there. Well I can't seem to see the logic in most of the stages so this is just irritating me more and more. I think the idea behind the puzzles are sound, but there's such an arbitrary leap in difficulty for literally no reason that I don't think it's worth anyone's money or time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had a little leftover time last weekend to stream more Cosmic Express. Given its adorable style and simple presentation I thought the game might aim to be light and easy, but some of the puzzles pose a tough but fun challenge! Someone tell the green aliens to bathe please! youtu.be/1oLnsEheDLY?...
positive · AI labelView post →Spooky Express: A really amazing evolution of Cosmic Express, a game I loved but was unbelievably shit at. This is clever, approachable, a great difficulty ramp, in a beautiful package. And the zombies don't say "brains" they say "trains", it's perfect. store.steampowered.com/app/3352310/...
positive · AI labelView post →Every Draknek game is a banger, and while Spooky Express is going to be very familiar to Cosmic Express fans, the vibes are immaculate. The aesthetics are perfect. Best game I've played on mobile this year.
positive · AI labelView post →Spooky Express is the next @draknek.bsky.social game, and a sequel of sorts to Cosmic Express. Same basic puzzle type, but with a new cute spooky aesthetic that also adds new spooky mechanics like frightening or transforming humans. Fantastic as always, with lots of wonderful touches. #SteamNextFest

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →for the last couple of years, whenever i pull my switch out and wanna puzzle, i've been working on finishing Cosmic Express. the folks who made that game are a real bunch of bastards. real fucked up riddler types. total sickos. can't recommend it enough if you wanna frustrate your gray matter lol
positive · AI labelView post →Fantastic line puzzler with lots of interplay between new mechanics. End game content will really stretch your circuit-routing chops.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty, lots of different mechanics, runs great on Linux.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a gem. It's difficult to do simple puzzles well, and this game does simple puzzles well. This game gives you everything you need to succeed. There's no random chance and no hidden information. Everything is completely fair. And that, more than anything, is what's going to make you want to throw your mouse / laptop / phone out the window when you get stuck on some of these levels.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Difficulty: I didn't play enough to know Quality: ★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ "The worst thing that a creation can be is boring. Uninspired. Slop." - SametTheTurk 2025 This is how I'd describe Cosmic Express. I find there to be nothing to like about this game. There's plenty of other train games out there already, and the puzzles are both uninteresting and can primarily only be solved with trial and error. New mechanics are introduced, but they don't really spice up the game at all, nor are they really…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is pure evil. It's very mechanically simple - you have capacity for one passenger only (to start) and must deliver them to a "station". You do this by laying track in front of your little tram, which is simple enough except that the tracks cannot cross themselves so everything must be done in one continuous path to the exit, which in turn does not open unless you deliver all passengers to an appropriate destination (they don't care which one; they just care that it matches their…

The deal is you have to take passengers in your little cute alien train and for that you have to build the rails accordingly and take these alien thingies to their homes (small boxes). If you've got green carts, only green passengers can hop unto them and if you've got yellow ones, only yellow passengers can be taken. Your goal is to take all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A compact, simple puzzle game that is fairly difficult. The UI is clean and straightforward. The game doesn't introduce too many mechanics, so the puzzles are easy to understand, but the game makes use of the mechanics extremely well, resulting in quite a few challenging puzzles. As the game's price is very cheap during sales, I would highly recommend picking up a copy.
