Oh no, no, oh, yeah Cris Tales is quite the journey; one in which everything aside from the beautiful art style, and the overall premise, seems like an afterthought. The euphoric rush of its opening cinematic is only matched by its totally bonkers plot. After the approximate 25 hours it takes to beat the game, you will feel exhausted - whether in a “good” or bad way is up to you. The game starts off slow, with a …

I want to recommend this game, I really do, but I can't in the state it's in right now. I hope this changes in the future, honestly. It's not that the game is bad or has some giant flaw, it's just that it feels extremely unpolished due to lack of time, budget or ability and you can feel it around every corner. 7/10 I think this game deserves its current Mixed ratings. This game is visually gorgeous with an inventive combat system and a great plot. However, I can't help but feel that it was rushed and didn't have enough playtesting before release. Story is wonderful, but the endgame is one of the most anti-climatic events I've witness recently. They had something, but lost it completely. It's if the developers just said …

I was excited for this since it was revealed, and I enjoyed the demo, but now the full game is out, my god they should've delayed it even further. The biggest issues are how SLOW the game is. Maps feel too big for how slow you move. The loading screens are a nightmare, who the HELL thought having a slow loading screen for each random battle was a good idea. And there's no video settings, so I can't play windowed like I prefer. Seriously, the game is bad for so many technical reasons, but…

Crystale is difficult to praise. It has a great art style and because I'm a lover of RPG, a friend who knew that excitedly recommended it to me. I had my fun with it, but ultimately I can't recommend it, it had insane potential with its characters and the main gameplay idea of time manipulation both insight and during the exploration. It sadly couldn't deliver, the gameplay in the end is just *punch the enemy until it dies*, the strategic aspect completely gets lost, especially during the boss…

I remember seeing this game's first trailer and putting it on my wish list on it's art alone. the game is gorgeous, but I fear that's where the praise ends. The biggest issue is game balance. Early on, you find a mix of enemies that either feel appropriate for your level and those who are way to strong for the early game. Even if you master the parry system ( a requirement, due to how much damage you'll end up taking otherwise) some basic enemies are doing 40,50 points of damage when…

I had high hopes for this game and it's just not good. This has some of the worst boss fight design I've seen since the 1990s. You don't do enough damage, even with fully upgraded everything, to finish fights in a reasonable amount of time. They're not HARD fights - you will win - they just take so long that you'll be asleep, or have to go to work or school by the time you're done. The slogfest gets worse the further in you go, as later bosses start to apply regeneration effects to…

Not all that glitters is gold After I finished Cris Tales journey, I couldn't believe what I was going through. I think this game was added about 2 years ago on my wishlist primarily because of a good-looking trailer and what the developers promised. This game is a lovely little adventure with gorgeous art, adorable characters and an interesting mechanic that makes exploring the world feel very rewarding. That being said, it simply is not very accessible. For one, it's difficult to navigate-- the locations in the map section of the game are not labeled, and the hint system does not give you any actual direction if you get lost. I find myself longing for quest markers. The inventory and equipment system is pretty overwhelming to beginners…

I was really looking forward to this game. Played the demo last year, wishlisted it and preordered it with the soundtrack. Seeing that the game got mixed reviews at launched, I hoped it would mostly be about bugs and postponed it for a few month, hoping that the experience I would get then will be a great one. It is a shame that I can't say it is. The best thing about the game is certainly the artstyle and even that can be quite flawed, as soon as it comes to animation. The number of mediocre…

So I played this game once on Xbox Gamepass. Got something like 20-40 hours into it, before it was taken off it. That said, normally when you put that much time into a game (or at least for me), it usually makes you want to see that time and effort reach fruition, or be rewarded. Instead, I logged on, saw it was removed off Gamepass and shrugged it off with a "Meh." It has interesting gameplay concepts and the art is unique, but that's all it's got going for it. The dialog and story in general…

While the game has a very colorful art style, and even the mechanic for being able to see into the past present and future at the same time being a unique concept, unfortunately the execution was poorly done, and by this I mean is that the current version is just very gimicky, and you are not allowed to use it all the time, you are only able to when the developers allow you to use it, and this game doesn't give you the freedom to play exactly like you want, since you could be a very clever…

The art style is genuinely impressive, but instead of using it to create something fresh, it gets dragged down by tired JRPG and anime clichés. It feels like the developers took a step forward visually but two steps back in everything else. The worst offender is the script and characters. The writing feels lazy, full of overdone tropes, and the voice acting doesn’t help—especially when you’ve got a squeaky pet companion... Seriously, you took the worst and most annoying JRPG tropes of all,…

If there was an option to just play in windowed mode I would simply have done that... but nope. I really wish the game was as good as its art, and while I do acknowledge it is an indie studio's first game, that can't save it from its lack of quality. It is a below average JRPG on pretty much every front; the gameplay, the story, the characters are all just not very good. This game is incredibly slow and dull, and it drags for far longer than it should for a complete playthrough. Sadly the selling point of time manipulation largely doesn't matter in this game - I might even go as far to…

The game demands my full attention, without rewarding it. I felt like I was wasting my time. Summary This features every trope you would expect in a JRPG, but lacks some of the main benefits, like freedom, exploration and rewards for... well, anything. This game has a great start, one where you feel like you can play it over and over again, but as you get towards the end, you may want to cast Regression on yourself to understand what may have went wrong. That is not to say this game is bad, but the design of it is what makes this a challenge to enjoy. I haven't finished this game yet but so far so good. I don't really get why this game has mixed reviews? But I personally like it. The artstyle is bright and beautiful, the story is pretty decent, and the turn-base combat has a cool twist to it like you can parry, crit hit, and bend time to your advantage so it keeps you engage most of the time unlike traditional turn-base games. So yeah, I'm really having fun with this game so far.

The amazing art for this game can't save it from uneven difficulty curves, poor game design, and late game padding. The game starts strong, with the first few hours showing you all the seeds of a good RPG, interesting gameplay mechanics, enough hints of an interesting world/story, and showing off its great art. Characters are the weakest link here, personality wise they are barely developed or interesting and their dialog is borderline children book tier, Arguments are solved with jokes, motivations are changes with a simple "please be on my side, I'm the good one" with no defined reason for it. The concept behind time travel based battling and exploring is interesting, but I find it's not very satisfying within the battling. As a quest mechanic it is far more effective. The story is rather uninteresting. Generally the art is nice, though the way some of the levels are designed it feels a bit too bare, and the camera angles are awkward.

Revisited this game after playing it blind on release 3 years ago. Not a bad game all things considered, though I can 100% understand a lot of the criticisms for it. Be warned that the Spiked Keychain is bugged; if you equip it to JKR and use an ability/attack that causes JKR to overheat, the game crashes. Doesn't appear this will be fixed but I'd like to be proven wrong. If you haven't played a lot of JRPGs in the past, it's a good game to get into the genre.

It's if the developers just said "Yea I'm tired, let's just wrap it all up and call it a day, I don't care". I can…

Cris Tales has one of the most exciting time mechanics I’ve seen in a JRPG in a long time. Unfortunately, it ends up feeling more like a novelty and less like an essential part of the game pretty early on. 75/100 PROS: Great voice acting Beautiful environment and character design Time Manipulation keeps things interesting Diverse group of characters and abilities CONS: Expensive for an Indie title Time Manipulation doesn’t feel fully utilized Story feels aimed at a younger audience…

I want to start by saying this game is good, but it definitely has some pacing and writing issues. None of the dialogue is cringy or too much, but it suffers from what feels like a lack of polish at the beginning. But at a certain point, the writing improves significantly things around you begin to fall into place and some elements of the world that were left fairly vague begin to make more sense. And ultimately that's what I believe Cris Tales largest weakness is in general, small lacks of…

My fanart to the indie game Cris Tales! I imagined the continuation of the bad ending. The young protagonist Crisbell is turning into the dark side she once swore to hate. #digitalart #illustrator #Cristales #BRart #BRartista

This game isn't actually all that bad, but it just felt slow and often times annoying. Not being able to walk faster was definitively one of the main factors in that.

A Colombian old-style JRPG with limited time manipulation. Visually this game is heavily stylized, inspired both by anime and latin-american art. It looks great. The animations are more basic, but it comes with using 2D sprites. Music is excellent, voice acting ranges from goot to a bit jarring in some side characters. From the gameplay perspective, this is classical JRPG. There is an overworld with no activity but passing between locations. There are cities where you can pick up quests, buy…

The first time I saw Cris Tales, something in the trailer compelled me to anticipate it, that being the art style, and it being too wonderful for me to let it slip in my radar. That being said, months of waiting and a delay later, here is my verdict: Let's get the first thing out of the way, the visuals: I'm glad to say that the gorgeous art is consistently great throughout the game, every design felt... immaculate to my eyes, each place, each character and each enemy. The striking,…

I like this game, but I don't think I have the heart to give a complete confident recommendation for this game. First off, to give credit where credit is due, the art is very beautiful. It's really colorful and charming to look at, overall great, and easily the best part of this game. Also, the music is pretty good, there were some city themes and area themes that really caught my attention and set a good vibe for whatever each area is going for, and some of the boss themes are pretty fire.…

Hello friends, Today I will review the game Cris Tales. This is a game about time traveling having a female protagonist that travels thru time to change events. The unique aspect of this game is the ability to see past, present, and future all on the same screen. This aspect is not found on every map, but when it does on a map, it is very interesting to see the effects of the players actions in the future. There is also many characters that the player can recruit, and they all have their…

I wanted to give this game a positive review so much. Artstyle and animations are outstanding and they almost carried this expirience for me. Cris Tales could've been a beautiful short experience, but this game stretches every of it's limited resources until all fun is gone. Cris Tales makes you bactrack an every region three times IN A ROW before final boss. World is pretty small in this game, but that doesn't mean that backtracking it three times is fun. I hate set assumption in gaming that…

Charming art and soundtracks, unlike its other aspect. Combat felt sluggish and repetitive after a short while, with most of the later skills being basically useless. Difficulty is non-existent. Story at its core can be good, but the way they show the cutscenes (not the animated ones) were awkward and emotionless. In short, good idea, bad execution.

I normally don’t write reviews, but I feel compelled to defend this game after playing over 100 hours, completing the game 2.5 times, and earning 80% of the achievements: This game brought fond memories of the turn-based RPGs I played in the 90’s as a child. It has been a long time since I had that child-like wonder for a video game. From my perspective, CrisTales is made for 80’s babies who have been drowning in the ocean of early access roguelites and hack-n-slash ARPGs. I am…
