Some find the game too hard due to lack of iframes and punishing difficulty. [1][2][3] The art direction and dark fantasy aesthetic are widely admired. [4][5][6]

Has potential but it's core mechanics and design philosophy clashes with itself far too often For example: The game has a dodge with a long cooldown and no Iframes, this does not mesh well with enemies that attack for between 2-5 seconds at a time and jump across the screen to hit you. You just cannot avoid the damage, so either build around the fact you will take a ♥♥♥♥ ton of damage, or die over and over. This at …

A real hidden gem of a game. One of the best roguelites out there. Seems very hard at first, but gets easier with metaprogression. Combat is somewhat similar to Hades, but power comes from figuring out build synergies more than from player skill. There is a nice twist where enemies gets stronger when you clear each node on the map, so you can't go on forever - you can only clear so many nodes before you die. So you …

TLDR: Great game, I recommend fully if you like the style and have the skills/patience. Too hard for me personally. Game is great, I just suck at reactionary timing and hard skill checks. I like the design and concept of the game a lot, but the punishment of failing and restarting so often was too much for me, getting a fun build going and then having it ripped away from you for one mistake just really sucked for …

A massive improvement over "Into The Necrovale", which had one of the best buildcrafting i've seen in a game. It suffered from flaws like boring areas and monoteous gameplay. That's not the case here. The developer has put great thought and care into the game. Positives +++Fantastic buildcrafting ++Combat is simple and responsive. Fun enemy patterns as well. ++Zero cap on powerscaling, as a roguelike should be (I …

Enjoyed my time with this game so far. Massive fan of the art direction and visual presentation. Combat is good, though still requires some balancing obviously, particularly in the mid to high 20s. Big fan of the secrets, they mostly strike the correct balance of not being too obvious nor too obtuse. When you find a combo of runes and talismans that click, oh boy. Well worth the money, many lessons learned from …

It's early access and there's some bugs that they need to work through, there's already been a few updates and things have gotten fixed or improved which is cool. INCREDIBLY fun, I play on both controller and on handheld. I did notice on my ROG Ally X I had a bug where the game started playing in super slow mo, I went into settings and turned off V Sync and it fixed it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Roguelikes can get a bit samey, three options pop up on the screen, and the meta progression back at camp can feel like paying your bills in a terminal. But Cursemark incorporates options the old fashioned way, within the game and gameplay itself. I’ve been having fun so far unlocking all the weapons, skills, and exploring the map. As a Path of Exile 1/2 player I particularly like the skill gem and support system - it’s nice to play around with builds by choice, but also by randomness with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game just doesn't feel good to play, the upgrades are cool but the base combat system feels extremely clunky. This is like if a souls-like didn't have iframe rolls but just expected you to constantly position in and out of an enemy's attack, just not my type of game. This game is "similar" to POE and Hades 2 in terms of where the camera is positioned to the character, and somewhat similar to POE 2's gem system but nothing else is similar about the games.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After spending 20+ hours playing Cursemark and completing the Early Access content, I can confidently say it’s a fantastic, though undeniably challenging game. The Dark Fantasy aesthetic is outstanding, very reminiscent of early Diablo, and the gameplay has a classic Gauntlet Legends feel to it. All of this has me genuinely excited to see what the full release will bring. Fair warning though. It takes several runs, and countless deaths, before you build enough progression to comfortably…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a very interesting premise, and on top of that, it features some absolutely beautiful pixel art. The art direction is easily one of the game's strongest points. Every environment, enemy, and effect has a lot of personality, and the overall aesthetic gives the game a unique charm that kept me engaged from the very beginning. When you first start playing, it's very easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of shrines, unlockables, and different things available from the very…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really beautiful game with a satisfying gameplay loop. progression and combat. It can be a bit hard to tell what synergies and skills actually effective and how you get more of certain items or a beneficial route. However, exploring, getting shortcuts, unlocking/ upgrading static benefits and also getting better helps a lot. I think this game has a lot of potential, and the dev seems to be very active. I haven't found any problems with pacing, performance, visuals or balance, and I think all…

neutral · AI labelView post →I love Cursemark! The atmosphere is fantastic, the art direction is gorgeous, and the fast-paced gameplay is incredibly satisfying, somewhere between Hades and Hyper Drifter. As you progress, the game becomes quite challenging, which is a good thing: it requires more skill and focus than just luck. Although luck does play a role through the runes and talismans you randomly acquire during your runs. And when the stars align with the right combination of powers, runes, and talismans, what an…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't really understand where the "very positive" reviews are coming from. So this is a mixed one, leaning to negative for now, although im prolly going to play it some more, to see if I missed something. It's a decent game and definitely full of potential to be great, but atm the only true selling point is its low price. The good: * handcrafted world where you have to think ahead about which path to take on your run * solving secrets feels very rewarding (even if a small portion of the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In my opinion, this game isn't really about the action-roguelike aspect, but more about solving puzzles, and somehow I find that very appealing. Sure, it's fun to test out different builds, but I've caught myself coming back to the puzzles again and again, and trying to work my way through them rather than fighting enemies or bosses.

neutral · AI labelView post →Cursemark is a great game and I recommend it to anyone who likes Hades gameplay or Dark Souls aesthetics. Ideally both
positive · AI labelView post →amazing game. if you liked hades you'll have a great time with this one. it has a power system similar to path of exile, you choose 4 skills and then slot gems in them that have multiple effects, like bigger aoe, explode on death or more projectiles. doesnt feel like an EA game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic Game! I love how you actually upgrade the world itself along with your character. Some great decision making there. Also the way that progression develops over time is great with some neat surprises. Very original take, love it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The good: It's a great Diablo-esque game to unwind to. I can't get into games like I can with this. It's more fun imo than other random-item roguelikes like Slay the Spire and Risk of Rain because there is more decision control and skill involved to make each run less of a dice roll. If I fail, I'm either super unlucky with item drops, not creative enough, not knowledgeable enough, or don't know enemy movesets enough. I enjoy experimenting with builds and finding what I like. Synergy is fun to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →MY god the combat is garbage... there is no way the way the combat is gonna change over the playthrough that much to make a diffrence... Gonna refund it ASAP
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so damn fun. Great world building, very fun builds, challenging, just so good. Glad I gave this game a chance, downloaded the demo first after seeing a youtube short. Didn't think I would like it that much, but I do, its just fun. Get the demo for sure and you'll be buying it in no time. Not normally a souls like kinda guy, but it works so well with the rougelite or rougelike, whatever term fits better, and does it in a way that doesn't feel like just another rougelite/like that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do like this game and I feel like the gameplay can be enjoyable but the game lacks any real substance. The game is sort of between roguelike and roguelite but it doesnt do a great job of either. There isnt enough variety in the content to make it feel like a good roguelike and the unlocks arent important enough to actually affect the gameplay leaving probably half of the runs feeling like a slog. Most of the runes are pretty useless and the almost all the talismans and half the runes are just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a genuinely amazing game, and has a fair bit of content for it only being the first few days after launching in early access! Builds are super customizable, which allows you to basically make whatever your heart desires. There's also plenty of secrets to discover, which I really enjoyed. Can't wait to see what else is in store!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is pretty incredible and has come a long way! It's got the "one more run" vibes and some super OP build options if you get the right drops. Lovely roguelite ARPG and I'm excited to keep playing! Pick this one up! 5 stars!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun and one out of very few i can wholeheartedly say i would recommend (if you enjoy this genre). Pros: +Decent amount of builds and most abilities are fun to use. +Has progressive upgrade system (Use currency to strengthen already unlocked items) +Every enemy type was easy enough by repetition to learn how to eventually defeat (regular trash isn't all that hard anyway) +10+ hours of content at this time, with more coming (according to dev) +Satisfying possible builds that can make you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Master different branches of magic as you take your knight from level to level obliterating every foe in your path. While the world's levels are set in stone, it is up to you to create a custom loadout for your knight. The randomized drops, tough challenges, elusive secrets and unforgiving bosses create infinite replay value. Hand-drawn pixel graphics, fluid combat, understandable mechanics, great music, immersive world... A labor of love. I'm excited to see what Cursemark brings to the table…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wildly unbalanced. It is way too early for this game to be out, even for early access. I can forgive the clunky UI and animations, but the core gameplay loop is too tedious and exhausting. The enemies are balanced around you already having broken synergies and combos. -The melee enemies have long attack strings and lock on to you the entire time. This is made worse by the fact that dodge is on a cooldown. -The ranged enemies have crazy far aggro distance and range. Some will even carpet bomb…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →bro this game is 10/10, i just wish it had like 10x more of everything monsters, bosses, runes, talismans, spells n weapons, hopefully a talent tree, more vendors, finding permanent equippable gear to more lean into different builds etc, a way to sell/reroll or combine talismans
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good things. - Art is very good. - The overall gameplay: exploration, metaprogression, upgrades within a run - all seems well thought out. Bad things. - Combat is a mess with barely visible enemies, attack spam, and projectile spam. - All my best runs were relying on same item (barier on spell cast). Sure, there are other winning builds, but repeating the same run until you get a winning combination of items gets boring.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great! It's reminiscent of Hades but I like its meta progression more. The combat is great and really engaging, and every weapon and spell feels fun to use, even the basic Knight's Sword. It's one of the few roguelites I really enjoy the gameplay loop of. All this game needs is a parry (and the 2nd Divine ward sorta acts like one, it just needs some VFX or feedback when it's triggered).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Comparisons are often limitting, but this is best compared to: Hades+Elden Ring+PoE This is a weird mix that sounds like it shouldn't work. Yet it does. Oh it does REALLY well. The loop is very addictive, the way it handles exploration and resources is very elegant and something I have not seen yet in other games. I can highly recommend it, if you like any of the games above. Improvement wishlist / feedback: ( not a huge deal, just hopes to see these improved ) - Many elements feel very…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels very good for an early access title. The game has quite a bit of build decision, and exploring the map nodes/rooms/screens is definitely a fun time. You have some puzzles to solve and secrets to find. The longer your run lasts, the harder it gets. But it gets harder on a room by room basis, rather than time spent. Enemy variety is alright, and I can only imagine the scale the game will be at actual 1.0 launch For the price the game is, I'd definitely pick it

positive · AI labelView post →Okay so like many of you I'm sure, I picked this up after seeing Asmongold play. So the game will absolutely NOT disappoint. The skill builds are super fun to unlock and play with. The runes and talisman system are SO SO GOOD. A lot of these games, like Hades II for example the replay-ability is unlimited for sure but can be a slog at times. This is the first game of this style I truly feel like after dying when in a lot of other games I wouldn't feel the need to run it back.....I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple, single minded, and yet deep gameplay. But most importantly: It's FUN. Many games forget to be fun. This game feels like the old era of arcades of quick plays in which you can spend some time and then start anew with the previous knowledge. It's not difficulty for the sake of being hardcore and better-than-thou, no. It's a difficult game, but you always have a means to get better and advance through the game's meta progression. They achieved something many games have forgotten to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Writing this review right after finishing all of the content in early access. Cursemark is a pretty unique dark fantasy roguelite Souls-like with an emphasis on making gradual progress and synergistic builds. Pros: - The very responsive controls and fair variety of enemies makes combat feel fluid, fun, and not very repetitive. - Awesome build-making potential with a lot of different combos makes every run feel unique. With different spells, weapons, defensive abilities, and a large assortment…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've had a very negative experience trying to play this on controller. The functionality isn't set, you'd think if you're adding controller the dev would spend a few weeks playing with only the controller to fix these types of banal problems but that didn't happen, he's outsourcing all that to the players. When I decided I wanted to leave this review, the game magically stopped being able to shut down properly and I ended up needing to exit steam and restart the computer to even get to this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very unique rougelite. Exploration, secrets, etc. that I haven't seen in another games. Map is static, only the item drops are random. There are a bunch of really novel ideas on how your skills upgrade throughout a run. You can even alter your skill alterations by combining two socketables, really enjoyed discovering new combinations through different runs. This enemy design is one of my favorite things about the game, there are no "meat sack enemies that do nothing and die in 1 hit" that are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun game! Mechanics are interesting, good build variety and if you get lucky you can get an absolutely broken build. Still in early access so there's only a fraction of the total content right now but what's here shows promise. There were some minor bugs where it wouldn't let me cast abilities but I still managed to beat everything so I'm not too bothered.

This is the most fun I have had playing a game in a long long long time. Esspecially with the genre being on the opposite of what I ussually play, I am throughly impressed and have no regrets buying. My only complaint is its in early acess and I wish there was more to play! Regardless, replayability where its at now is still there,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is awesome! The combat is very simple but satisfying and changing up my weapons, spells, and wards based on new runes I found in my previous runs has seen my builds and playstyles switch up quite a lot keeping everything very interesting and fresh each run. Just destroyed the first seal after an hour run and looking at the map i still have so much more to do! The only thing Id like to ask for is achievements to be added, Id love to put this game on my profile page after I 100% it!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're familiar with Clyde's last game, Into the Necrovale, this game has a similar feel to it. The combat has similarities to soulslikes, primarily with regard to the level of intentionality you have to put behind every action. There are some bugs, but most of them are relatively minor or actively being worked on, and Clyde is a very active developer. He interacts with the community quite frequently through his community discord server, so if you have an issue, it's probably going to get a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good game. I've had a lot of fun with this. Beat all three bosses that are available to beat lots of fun. Cool mechanics to play around with, fun skills to unlock and awesome level design. Some things I didn't like. Forge charge seems kinda pointless, wish I could spend gold to get blue meta currency and all the weapons besides the spear have such short range it makes hard to pick anything but the spear. Early access though so I hope they work on these. For the price it's fantastic. I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game for what it is. lots of different build possibilities with a lot of new to the genre things you can do. Wish there was more to the game i was able to pretty much beat the entire game except for a few secrets in one day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Build customization is amazing. Seems like a decent amount of content so far. I like that the progression is built into the map/story as well as featuring a few rogue-lite elements outside of each run. The secrets and hints are a cool touch that I don't see too often in games anymore. Recommended for anyone who likes rogue action games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game good. Combat has an appropriate learning/skill curve for me personally (and I am not great at souls games) and exploration and experimentation is constantly rewarded. Each run it seems like there is an "ahhhh!" moment when you figure something out, whether its a new build setup or puzzle that you've solved. Yeah, very cool.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cursemark is a prime example of what a roguelike should be. Where as in different games you have to grind endlessly to upgrade your meta progression for extra dmg, extra hp or whatnot, in this game most of the meta progression happens via the different rooms you conquer. The main game mechanic is, that each new (unique, so backtracking doesnt increase the counter, unlike early demo versions) room increases the difficulty of the entire game. every room has various means to buff your current…
