What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 173 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (3,265 of 3,675 positive).
Players praise the fast-paced combat and movement, comparing it to Doom Eternal and Hades. [1][2][3] Many note the roguelite progression feels grindy and the limited content leads to repetitive runs. [4][5][6] Some reviewers recommend buying on sale due to the short length and lack of variety. [7][8][9]

My opinion on Deadlink is divided. On one hand, I love the fast run and gun combo action that the game is going for. On the other, the game feels like it gets stale incredibly fast. By nature of the game, your run is very feast or famine, you either get what you need and thrive or don't and suffer until you inevitably get folded in half by a mob of enemies or the area's boss. As a result, I found myself regularly …

Gunplay is really solid and the upgrades allow for really fun builds. Basically Doom Eternal + Hades and I mean that in the best way possible.

I started playing this two and a half days ago, look at my play time, I worked one of those days. That is how much this game rips. It is mechanically extremely sound, plays like a dream, good length, good difficulty. The build aspects have great opportunities for synergy. You can adjust the game to game progression to make it a bit harder. The game expects a lot from you but rewards you for learning and using all …

I play a lot of boomer shooters and after only one hour I can already tell this is one of the best out there. Edit after 100% TL;DR: One of the best FPS games I've played in years with some issues on the rouge-like part. VERY satisfying gameplay, cool music, very good voice acting and dialouge. Enemy design is decent. I can't glaze this game enough so I'll focus on the problems of this game. Optimalization is not …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's okay the biggest problem with the game is that you only have 4 stages and 4 bosses even if you continue to switch between the 4 classes the game gets very old very fast because almost every run plays the same with minor changes you can't change your primary weapon only your secondary and only at set spots so every run feels almost the same

neutral · AI labelView post →The movement and gunplay is awesome! But the game only contains 4 levels and gets very grindy to unlock the meta components needed to scale into the later 2 levels. Then the content just... runs out. It also looks like the devs have left a few bugs hanging in what will probably be the final build of this game, like the stuttering. Limited classes and upgrades also ensure this roguelike won't stay long in anyone's library. Shame.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun but after being flashed with explosions and 30 db sounds of gunfire i start having spasms which makes me vomit on my keyboard i would still recommedn it though

Toads Of the Bayou is Into The Breach with deckbuilding For the price of one regular retail game (£50) you can get everything on that page and I PROMISE you will get more entertainment out of it

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is simply too little content here, and the progression requires way too much grinding just to tackle the higher difficulty settings. Having only four levels with minimal layout or run variation in a roguelite directly undermines the entire core of the genre. After just a couple of runs, you have already seen almost everything the game has to offer. From there, progression feels artificial because you are locked behind spending tons of resources just to upgrade your stats enough to deal…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I dislike this game for one simple reason; every boss fight has a ton of additional enemy spawns constantly and that simply is not fun to me. The combat is good and the fights are fun, but I just cannot stand when 90% of a boss fight is spent killing additional spawns for health (Shields, in this case) and ammo. It makes for a very unfun fustercluck of an experience. If that's your thing, you'd probably love the game; unfortunately, it isn't for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Classic case of rogue like that is basicly impossible to beat if you don't first hand grind for upgrades, wich makes replaying the first levels extremely annoying and boring. Also gotta love the endgame miniboss that has a glitch that makes him invincible and you have no choice but abandon run.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Deadlink offers quality content with satisfying gameplay but it simply doesn't offer enough compared to similar games in the genre while also having a lot of questionable game design ideas I've been having a hard time writing a proper review of this game because what the game offers is truely well done but it just doesn't offer enough. Great artstyle and music, crisp gunplay and the matrix system is a unique way of playing with the buffs you get in a run. The meta progression being more…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, the game is very polished when it comes to gun play. Certain abilities are fun enough. But There's multiple things it lacks in. When you play a FPS roguelite, you're usually wanting to test out different weapons, but each character only has two. What if you don't like either of them? You have to play enough with two guns you don't like to unlock the next character. Which relates to my next point. In this game it is essential to use your abilities to progress in the game. What if those…

neutral · AI labelView post →Don’t listen to the reviews saying the armor mechanic isn’t good. I let those reviews deter me from trying this out for a few months. The armor mechanic is actually great - abilities give you armor back, not just grenades. Upgrades after clearing levels can reduce ability cooldowns, among other things, which allows you to get armor back more quickly. Completely addicting gameplay loop and really satisfying to complete a run. 10/10 on kbm

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can also see how my channel skews more towards platformers (like Sonic) but I've been trying to build up a library of broader action games, too. Deadlink, Bayonetta 3, Hi-Fi RUSH, along with me using DOOM Eternal as an example of perfect game design ever since it came out. I love that game dearly.
neutral · AI labelView post →I mean it"s alraight, if you like Doom like games, but this one is also roguelike, so when you die you start from begining. I like cyberpunk details, so 6.5/10 rating from me, buy this game on sale!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is definitely a game you need to give some time, you need to unlock all the classes, and you need to unlock some of the upgrades (typical roguelite stuff). But I also mean give it some time in terms of the fact that the mechanics won't come to you straight away, as you have actively think about what abilities you use and which weapons for which enemy. The shield mechanic is actually really well executed, and you go through entire rooms without dropping a single health point. My only real…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →These developers don't know if this is supposed to be fast paced or not. Reload is slow, clunky and sluggish. The enviroment has a tendency to be wildly cluttered with objects easily fading into the background for you to get stuck on when using dash. Simple solutions would be to boost reload speed to make it feel less clunky and sluggish and for god's sake man include a sprint so it dosen't feel like i'm wading through molasses. The game so far hasn't been difficult, if that's a plus or minus…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Roguelike fps similar to Gunfire Reborn or Roboquest, but very different at the same time. While the other 2 games have more level-based map design, Deadlink has much smaller areas, basically rectangle arenas with various obstacles. The main difference here is that you have predetermined main weapon (each of the 4 characters have different one) and interchangeable secondary one that you can choose at the very start of each run. All your power comes from different augments that you can implant…

The origins of first-person shooter (FPS) games lie in the 1992 title Castle Wolfenstein by iD Software, which, though not a true FPS, introduced pivotal concepts like weapon usage, enemy confrontations, and complex environment exploration. This set the stage for the revolutionary game Doom, released in 1993, which truly pioneered the FPS genre with its first-person perspective gameplay, immersive 3D graphics, multiplayer capabilities, and captivating…
neutral · AI labelView post →Excellent movement FPS combat with some inventive abilities and modifiers, but the roguelite progression is a slog in conjunction with the same few rooms every run. Still worth it for the weapon variety and satisfying room clears, in addition to strong optimization.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple and easy roguelite you can play for a bit and feel like it's closed once you finish the achievements. Biggest negative of the game however has to be the feeling of sameness of each run, which is the reason for never feeling like starting up the game again after fully completing it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like how Doom Eternal (or Quake, or other similar boomer shooters) feel in terms of combat and movement then you'll probably enjoy this. There are four classes which all play pretty differently from one another, along with a ton of different upgrades to find and try out. I was pretty skeptical at the concept of a roguelike FPS at first but you can make some genuinely wacky and fun loadouts by combining these various upgrades, such as having the Soldier's grappling hook ability ignite…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Won't become your next obsession, but the loop and mechanics are fun. Lacks depth, but fun for what it is.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Certified Banger.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →100% worth buying on sale, the game is high quality though relies heavily on roguelike elements to maintain replayability. All the shells play differently and are worth using, though I feel you often lose a reason to use your heavy weapon unless you got a really good run for it. Good boomer shooter, good roguelike, probably not worth the full price tag unless you love achievement hunting. For a studio's first game this is really good, watch out for the next one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If anyone is curious this is from a game called Deadlink store.steampowered.com/app/1676130/...
neutral · AI labelView post →The demo was great, and I expected to have fun with the full release, but ultimately the "FPS with roguelite elements" moniker turned out to be false advertising. There are no roguelite elements - it's just a roguelite, a very short one, with the difficulty cranked through the roof just to hide how little content there actually is, and most of the progression is nowhere to be found. Disappointing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is just poorly thought out. There so many bizarre systems and stupid interactions between them, the cooldown on your main tools just feels to long, but they can't be too short because that's how you activate your buffs (which is a bizarre problem they made for themselves). It feels bad to just not have any upgrades unless you're close enough to blast someone with the melee stun. Also, the dash and doublejump feel awful, they're stubby and conserve no momentum at all, you feel dead…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Deadlink is a solid roguelike experience with a fast-paced cyberpunk vibe. Some of the levels are genuinely enjoyable and well-designed, and the gameplay loop keeps things engaging. I mainly played it for the achievements, but it was still a fun ride overall. ❤️
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty shallow overall and the perk system is heavily hampered by awkward swap requirements. There's a cool negative perk + benefit perk system that half the time is like you cannot double jump (absolutely necessary for certain parts of the run) and you get 75 skill power (a literal drop of damage for 95% of builds). There's a bunch of vendors early on that suck up upgrade currency which makes 0 sense for most of the playthrough. The secondary weapons are a joke, they almost always do less…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →honestly idk if i would recommend it or not but the game feels like its in early beta cuz theres so little content to it and it just generally feels undercooked in a way that the late game is really fast but ur movement is sluggish and lowkey unresponsive so that ruins the game for me at least. after beating it a couple times i can say its generally not really worth it if ur expecting to get more value from it than like 5-10 hours of repetitive gameplay
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its took me to while to try different builds on each characters and different implants but holy its super fun on max diff because how hard its gets and focus but its super fun bugs kinda rare to get but common one i got was enginner with cd on turrent can get buggy and can't use it. some bosses are easy but max diff are tanky and does damage if you missed it up on your build i would give the game 9.5 out of 10 i would recommend to buy it , its mixed between doom eternal combo weapons and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has a sex club for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason? otherwise gameplay is 10/10 for an FPS roguelike
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Every class of "shell" has its own play style related to their abilities and load out, after you figure out what that style IS the game finally becomes fun. Good luck grinding those hub upgrades, the game can be ridiculous without them, they're quite expensive too. I know I'll keep coming back to this on and off, if you get Deadlink get it half off and try not to pull your hair out on those first couple of runs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun for the first 10 hours but there is not enough verity to justify the grinding it would take to beat :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm getting tired of the Roguelike thing at this point, don't get me wrong this is a good one without a doubt, but I just want to finish a 7 hour campaign start to finish rather than repeating the same few levels over and over until I got enough upgrades to finish it. That being said, the game looks really good. The visual style, the matrix effects and even the music and sound design are top notch. The classes also give you a good mix of playstyles which all feel well thought through. You get…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its something i want to like which i did at one point but... i've never returned or seen much replay value in this. Soundtrack wise i was very impressed and almost played like its a rhythm game. Hell put it on my spotify cuz its that good. Negative review imo for being a "one trick pony" still cool but feels like its lacking in a way.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genuinely very satisfying gameplay. It's not as harsh as other roguelikes, you can very easily maintain your shields which I appreciate. The guns and abilities are fun to use, the music is great, the bossfights are fun, you can get upgrades fairly quickly. I haven't really got any complaints. Well worth getting on a sale. Alternatively, keys are about £2.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FPS Roguelike that feels quite satisfying to play, reminiscent of Roboquest albeit with the movement toned down a bit. Solid gunplay that feels fluid without being too intense. The feeling of flying around as soldier with the grapple cooldown reset shell upgrade is unparalleled. The implant system is fun and you can get some pretty interesting synergies going. Lacks a little variety when it comes to classes, abilities and weaponry I feel. Each shell only gets the one weapon (not counting the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If Doom Eternal was good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game with fun mechanics but the lack of content like weapons and different bosses really hurt the replay value. A shame since I really enjoyed the gameplay but I finished it and nearly unlocked everything after just 8 hours. Get it on sale or find something else with a little bit more meat on it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun and fast paced combat game, combo's great with a Spotify playlist!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So it's a standard fps roguelike with one major defining feature which is the shield system. You have health and shields, your health can only be restored if you enter a healing room and forfeit an upgrade (similar to Hades where you choose a room to go in). So you'd want to be more reliant on your shields but the problem is your shields do not regenerate rather you need to mark enemies (via grenades or certain abilities) and then kill them while marked for them to drop shields. I find this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mine is [Deadlink](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1676130/Deadlink/), a roguelike shooter with very tight gameplay reminding me of oldschool shooter times. Fast, tough, fair.
positive · AI labelView post →Others have probably said this too but my word this game is just too difficult. I play DOOM on Ultra-Violence (the medium-ish) difficulty and that was a good challenge for me, enough to die often enough without it getting frustrating. This game on the other hand is just too difficult from the get go. I am used to the gameplay loop thats not really the problem, in fact i like the mechanism playing aggressive in order to survive. I would have liked upgrades where my own grenade doesnt hurt me…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game is barely playable on a steam deck. the performance is just terrible.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game and the loop is fun, but it suffers a ton from every single run starting to blend and always feels the same cause of the lack of more environments and those environments not being randomly chosen. It is fun for a few hours or so, but once you start to get better at the game and up the difficulty, it still is fun but the levels just get so old so fast.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →100% achievements. 10 out of 10. Game is extremely frenetic and combat feels so GOOD. Every class plays very different and despite having just 2 weapons per class all the variants are super fun to play. Game is not perfect since secondaries are not balanced at all. Some are game breaking while others are TERRIBLE. If the effects of the level up where different game would be even better. Graphics are cool, OST is solid and again, extremely satisfying combat. I had a GREAT time playing it. One…
