Some reviewers note that runs can feel repetitive and lack variety. [1][2][3] A few players report issues with readability and accessibility. [4][5][6]

Die in the Dungeon is missing somethings that make it feel off. Objectively, its a good game, but when other Roguelikes just fill me with endless replayable joy, and I simply don't want to bother with Die any longer than I have to, I can't really give it a positive score. I like that the battles are fast paced, I like that after just one run most players will be able to tell that certain types of dice and certain …

I have been following this game since 2021 when it was a gamejam submission. I remember beating all there was to offer back then, and now I have too gotten 100%. This game is really spectacular and such a fun rogue like. When I first was able to change "faulty" die, I realize how expansive the combos in this game could be. This game is all substance and all style. Somehow it manages to have such a clear identity, …

An amazing game,it's rare that a game makes me do math and I still enjoy it. Basically you play as a frog of your choice, you can unlock some later. And you'll go through floors with events, shops, bosses and enemies. And you'll have a panel where you can put various dices such as attack dices, defense dices, healing dices, multiplier dices, etc The game is a roguelike, you'll unlock more dices, items, areas and difficulties …

Fun, high quality game well worth its price tag. My only criticism is that it is not random enough, and runs tend to feel largely samey. This may have to do with not having all the relics unlocked yet, but it does feel like there is much less variation between runs for the same character than there would be in other games in the same genre.

It's a dice game where you have attack, defense and booster dice, and you have to fit them into a gridboard in order to use them. Different characters have different shape and sized boards, with artefacts and curses modifying how you interact with the dice, the board and the enemies. I think it's overall pretty good. Mechanics are flawless and unique, tooltips get you going quickly. Art and music are excellent. Only …

neutral · AI labelView post →I really want to like this game. It's cute! I like roguelike deckbuilders. The dice matrix is neat. The four classes are all varied in interesting ways. But man, this game has some horrific problems. First and biggest, the dice matrix becomes unreadable if you ever have 2 effects on one space, which will happen constantly. Sometimes you'll have more than that. Some fights, especially the secret fight, are basically illegible. This slows down an already brutally slow game, making runs take…

neutral · AI labelView post →I loved the game when it was a demo version and I happily got it as an EA version, but I cannot recomend it to anyone who gets motion sickness in games or has motion-sensitive migraines. The devs added too many passive, rhythmic, aggressively looping animations that you can't turn off. The character? Wiggles. The enemies? Wiggle. The cursor? Wiggles. The stats? Wiggle. The background? Yeah, it is also animated. Gave me a migraine in about 15 minutes. The devs don't seem to have any accesibility…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not playable on Steam Deck unless you enjoy using the touch screen exclusively. Please update to include deck controller compatibility, it does say it works with an Xbox controller.

neutral · AI labelView post →It's technically a competent roguelike but it's just completely sauceless, there's no builds that actually feel fun or rewarding, numbers just increase as you progress
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Visuals are sweet and well crafted. The concept with dice sounds fun, interesting and refreshing. Gameplay sadly turns out repetitive and sluggish. Options feel more like illusion of choice and fights can drag out immensely. I retried the game after the 1.0 release. It's still very beautiful. I would love to give it a good review, but I simply do not enjoy the gameplay. My points from above still stand. > No enemy needs 300+ HP of life with a game that uses d6 > You have a general plan what…

neutral · AI labelView post →I'm torn when it comes to rating “Die and the Dungeon.” On the one hand, the core mechanics are solid and the graphics are very appealing, but on the other hand, I don't think the game is fully polished. For example, enemies don't scale in combat, so you can just heal yourself back up with certain relics if you stall long enough. In my opinion, the highest difficulty level, D8, is also too hard, so I didn’t feel motivated to play through it more than once. I’d rather give the game a yellow…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely generational game. It takes the traditional elements of a deckbuilder but then it goes so, so far beyond bro. The mechanics are unique and fun, and arguably more engaging than other games of the genre. 1.0 COMES OUT TODAY, AND I'M SO EXCITED gng ts tuff af frfr :v: Now that the hype has worn off a bit (a lot), I'd like to extend my review. The game isn't without its flaws; for some, the game doesn't deviate from the established formula all that much. It's a game with frogs and dice,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →On paper this should be a dream game for fans of the genre. I’m a huge fan of roguelike deckbuilders, and “cards but with dice” plus dungeon crawling with a cute frog checked all the right boxes. The problem is that somewhere between the concept and the execution, they forgot to make it actually fun. The core issue is how unintuitive everything feels moment to moment. Every turn demands minute, fussy readings of dice descriptions, interactions, and edge cases just to understand what your…

neutral · AI labelView post →This game (Die in the Dungeon) looks exactly how I imagine the archetypical computer interactive software to look. Numbers, icons and information everywhere. It should look cumbersome to play with a controller.
neutral · AI labelView post →Loved the gameplay so far, this might be exactly up my alley. However, the pixelated font is really hard to read at times and triggered my migranes after only a few minutes of playing.

neutral · AI labelView post →Already bored after 5 hours honestly and cant get myself to play more.. The characters dont really differentiate that much, there isnt really more dice then "attack, block or power up an attack or a block" besides some random ones that arent any better to put in your deck like draw, prism or mirror (which mirrors the same boring dice) Two of the characters emphasise blocking and build on that, which doenst feel diverse at all.. Enemies are already repetitive after 4 runs. Stores are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't believe I'm leaving such review but here I am. I think the game is nice but nothing more. It is extremely cute and I love the graphics a lot (but I really dislike the pixelated font, it is actually quite hard to read at first... I eventually got used to it but I can understand the reviews saying they couldn't read it at all). It's not a pixelated font like Balatro, it's like a thick and "blocky" kind of font. It's really had to read and actually hurts my eyes. Why did I click on "No,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game looks like it would be really fun and I was really excited to play this. However the pixelated font is really hard to read and can't be disabled. Couldn't even read the tutorial text to learn how to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Optimal way to play is very boring, lack of diversity in combats, not enough synergy with dice in hands.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like to discover games like this entirely on my own, without checking other people's gameplays or hints, and I have to say that up to a certain point, it's a really fun game. After getting familiar with the mechanics, I beat the first 3 difficulty levels in no time. However, after almost 50 hours of playtime, I had a huge problem beating D3 and gave up – I checked the Steam community posts and discovered that essentially there's only one build that allows you to win, maybe with some minor…

neutral · AI labelView post →Where Slay The Spire has speed and fights that last between 1-10 turns, Die in the Dungeon feels slow and like a drag. Almost every build I've tried has ended up being a conservative sensible build where I don't lose any HP. The max health being so low (compared to StS with 70-80 max health) means that I'm being discouraged from trying new things. Where there are more rare dice with more abstract effects, they often seem to be too expensive to use, and are better to just ignore unless a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the concept and art of this game. However if you seek a challenge this unfortunetly isn't for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Die in the Dungeon is a turn-based roguelike game with adorable pixel graphics that I can't get enough of! neutral · AI labelView post →Repetitive, boring, not much new. They just change the battle system into dice. Typically roguelike games offer different kinds of playstyles but in this game they didn't offer much, or not something matters.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have waited for this game's 1.0 because I like polished products. So i've resisted the urge to join early access and was glad that it finally fully released. Imagine my shock to realize that the devs haven't even polished the game enough to have a working save system. The game always states 'Save and Exit', but the way the save system works is completely unintutive. If you beat a fight and exit, you have to restart the fight. If you beat a fight, select an upgrade, and are returned to the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Baby's first Rougelike. Very fast, very simple, very straightforward. This is both an upside and a downside sadly. If you are looking for plain quick play session, this is a good game. If you are looking for something to invest thousands of hours in - move along, this is not that kind of game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really love this game and I would love for it to have way more content, it has great potential but the influx of new content is quite slow it appears? positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ever since I played the Itch.io version, this game has had me by the balls. It is so fun and addictive. I think this is what they call a "Special Interest"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of my favorite games on Steam! I had originally had the Origins version downloaded for a long time, but I was so excited when the full game was released! I just managed to beat the D7 difficulty a little while ago, which was really fun, and scratched the same itch in my brain as a good Balatro run. 10/10, a really great game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was not expecting too much from this game and for the most part I was honestly surprised! The game has tons of ways to make builds flourish into a unique experience, though I do wish some of the more rare 'relics' added more game breaking opportunities! Some of the character abilities also could use tweaking, some feel far weaker than others. However, for an 'early access game' this is incredibly put together and I am excited to see what else they plan to add to it in the future! Cute frogs,…
